The ambiance is very casual and almost fast food like but the food is top tier. We ordered a combo plate of 3 tacos de asada with rice and beans to share as an appetizer. (We were hungry and really wanted to try some tacos but I can't pass up rice and beans). The main thing we came for were pupusas so we ordered a few and ended up extremely full. There had been a small delay in the pupusas but it was okay because my combo plate appetizer held me over. When they were ready one of the ladies from the kitchen personally came out to give them to us with one extra. It was extremely generous and kind of her. The food was delicious but the service really made it a 5/5 experience.

If you have been following, I have been on a Birria Taco quest, trying this type of tacos every change I get. These were just okay. The sauce was good and it had generous meat/beef. But it lacked cheese?!?! See my last Birria Taco review at Mama Papa. Chimichanga - My wife really enjoyed this. She did not believe me when I told her that this was a deep fried burrito, lol. Generous portions, and she was only able to eat half. Guess we have dinner tonight. My wife and I felt the food was fairly authentic. BTW - EVERYONE ordered soup!! Menudo, Pozole, 7 Mares or Caldo de Res, etc! My wife really wanted to order this to try, but it was 70 degrees outside. Just means we have to come back. :) Kids menu also available. Atmosphere - Small location, the indoor and outdoor space was about the same size. Full of locals, everyone sort of knew each other which was cool. Semi open kitchen. One unisex restroom, I did not bother to check it out. Open 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm as per Yelp. Plenty of parking Service - Overall good, welcoming. Counter or table service. We kind of stood out, and not in a negative way. The owner/cashier wanted to make sure we enjoyed our meal. The waiter was a hard worker, cleaning our table, and bringing out chips and salsa to us. Then we went to the counter to order. Price - No prices on the menus?!?! $30 + generous tip. Reasonably priced, but for a "hole in the wall"?!?! Owner Comment - Congrats on your success.

Located off of HWY 50/Williams St, Taqueria La Salsa is a small Mexican joint offering many classic Mexican-American staples. We ordered street tacos and a kids' quesadilla. Honestly, the food is just ok. The tacos were flavorful, and the beans and rice were classic Mexican-American; however, the tacos were also quite small, even for street tacos, and the quesadilla was very bland. I felt at first the prices were very reasonable, but after tax and tip, the total didn't come out to be that much less than other Mexican restaurants in the area. Service was ok, but nothing special. We did not feel especially welcomed. I definitely got vibes that this place has a lot of regulars. Overall, I think this place is great, but I also think there are many just as good spots for Mexican food in Carson City and the surrounding areas.

We were greeted right away by cheerful planters overflowing with vibrant wildflowers in full bloom around the restaurant and parking lot; a lovely, welcoming touch that made the arrival feel special. We were seated immediately in a simple, clean dining room. Warm, fresh chips arrived quickly with waters and three excellent dips: a zesty red salsa, a flavorful green salsa (my favorite; I don't often see it served, and it was fresh and full of amazing flavors), and a tasty refried bean dip. All three were delicious. My wife and I split the cheese enchiladas and the Carne Asada dinner. Both were authentically prepared and full of flavor. The carne asada was tender and well-seasoned, the enchiladas rich and satisfying with plenty of melted cheese and savory sauce. We finished most of it and happily brought the extra steak home for breakfast omelets the next morning. The staff checked on us regularly throughout the meal and surprised us with a free dessert at the end...! A nice, thoughtful gesture. Overall, a warm and satisfying experience. We'll be back!
