Absolute hidden gem! The food is fresh and packed with flavor, the service is warm and friendly, and the restaurant is clean. Will be back!

This was our first time trying La Hacienda del Sazon in Minden, and we really enjoyed it! The restaurant sits in a small strip mall just across from Oi Coffee, with plenty of convenient parking. We were greeted right away by cheerful planters overflowing with vibrant wildflowers in full bloom around the restaurant and parking lot; a lovely, welcoming touch that made the arrival feel special. We were seated immediately in a simple, clean dining room. Warm, fresh chips arrived quickly with waters and three excellent dips: a zesty red salsa, a flavorful green salsa (my favorite; I don't often see it served, and it was fresh and full of amazing flavors), and a tasty refried bean dip. All three were delicious. My wife and I split the cheese enchiladas and the Carne Asada dinner. Both were authentically prepared and full of flavor. The carne asada was tender and well-seasoned, the enchiladas rich and satisfying with plenty of melted cheese and savory sauce. We finished most of it and happily brought the extra steak home for breakfast omelets the next morning. The staff checked on us regularly throughout the meal and surprised us with a free dessert at the end...! A nice, thoughtful gesture. Overall, a warm and satisfying experience. Had a wonderful dinner. I saw on Facebook that the ow era are new so we wanted to give it a try and support them. The salsas are amazing, you get 2 salsas and a bean dip with the homemade chips. Very typical taqueria atmosphere,clean & well lit and very attentive service. Basket of above average tortilla chips w/refried bean dip , red and green salsas , beans lacked flavor & both salsas fresh but underwhelmingly pedestrian all needed salt at least. Pollo combo plate w/chili relleno,disappointed as relleno is a favorite as well as a measure of the general quality of a Mexican restaurant and this one sucked, it was basically a chili relleno omelette (I unrolled it in the photos) total fail . Chicken was cooked past the perfect temp but not ruined just a bit dry. 3 tacos/$3.50 ea ,pastor,carnitas & asada. Asada was gamey not really good,pastor sweet & not up to my standard, carnitas was the absolute star of the meal unfortunately it was a tiny taco of 3 bites. Good selection of bottled hot sauces & a fairly good house hot sauce but didn't save the experience. read more

Enjoyed the place. Food was pretty good, very big portions. And very generous with the chips and salsa. The salsa was great. We had tacos and chimichanga. I didn't love the flavor of the chicken tacos but the beef were good. Preferred the pulled beef to the ground beef. Service was great and the ambiance is cute. Will be back. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The shrimp enchiladas were filling with the beans & rice.My wife's chicken tacquitos we tasty and we have leftovers for tomorrow. The shrimp wrapped with bacon was delicious and there was no leftovers. Generous portions with fair prices. Jose greeted us and the staff were all friendly. Great enchiladas ( had the Enchilada suizas) , usually my fav thing to order, chips and salsa very good. Had no complaints re service. One can tell it is family run. If you have read any of my reviews I am a stickler for hot temperature food. This place hits high marks. The food is hot, fresh, and delicious. The restaurant is clean, well decorated, with good music. They have a nice little patio for seating. We chose to sit inside as it was very windy. The service was ok but when they surprised us with a sweet little fried tortilla treat with cinnamon, sugar, a touch of honey, and whip cream it made everything awesome. read more

Chips and salsa are a must here! They are served warm and fresh and their agua de tamarindo is my absolute favorite! I will visit this spot for a burrito if I'm in the area. This particular visit; I had to order a few tacos as well. Service was wonderful and I was glad the dining room was quieter. It was a hotter day and the tamarindo agua hit the spot! Iykyk! I always enjoy my visits in Minden. Next time you're in Minden/Gardnerville and craving Mexican food; this is your place. I'll see you all in the near future. read more

Seems like most of the food reviews on Yelp or Google are written by Tasty Freeze tastebuds. That said: this is a wonderful small family owned/ operated business worth the trip. Pappa and uncle switch off cooking, but always delish. Unique sauces and flavors; not commercial... Simply good. Real poblanos in the chili relleno, authentic fried pork carnitas, and decent steaks at a fair price, and they don't skimp on the cheese!!! read more

Cute little restaurant in a strip mall. Service was very good and prices are reasonable. I had the one enchilada meal with rice and beans. The menu had a lot of items to choose from. This is a five star Mexican Restaurant! Fresh, home cooked food. I was served tortilla chips with green and red salsa plus a small bowl of refried beans. The green and red salsas were flavorful, so good, not too spicy and reminded me of enchilada sauce, not bitter or watery, not tart and definitely not canned or bottled. The refried beans were smooth, hot, yummy and not too salty nor were they loaded with lard. I ordered a combo plate: shredded beef enchilada with verde sauce and shredded beef crispy taco no lettuce. The plate came with refried beans and rice. The meal was delicious. The shredded beef was so flavorful and tender, yummy. It tasted like brisket cooked for hours. The enchilada sauce was the best green/verde sauce I've had in years. The rice and beans were excellent, too. I love that the food wasn't salty. The customer service was exceptional. The employees and owners, all who were busy, were happy, smiling and helpful. They were great with all customers. They looked as though they liked being there, enjoyed their jobs. Honestly absolutely love this store and it's a staple to stop by anytime I make a trip to Carson City to fill up on gas. They have top tier quality meats to make authentic dishes along with so many treats from Mexico. From Lengua to Menudo to pork for pozole, they have it all. Also, they have nice little knick knacks and china from Mexico that makes it feel a little more homey. Not to mention their grill (not pictured) where you can get something prepared hot and eat it there. But today's center stage was the pastries. We come here to always get any birthday celebration but I was blown away by their new selections and designs. Wish they had a sampler of the various cakes, but they do custom orders as well. I found the one with the chocolate teacup so charming and demonstrates their creativity. They did have buñuelos to sample at the check out and they were so nice, crunchy, and sweet while not being too oily. Lastly, everyone is so kinda and nice. As a Native Spanish speaker, I always feel so empowered and excited to see Hispanic owned businesses and the engagement is always so endearing, friendly, and personal. 110% recommendations stopping by if you like Mexican cuisine or culture. So far, the best Mexican food I've had in the area. Green & Red Salsa with Bean dip served with the chips. All were solid. The bean dip is basically refried beans. I had the Machaca con Huevos...it was delicious. Rice/Beans are solid. My wife had the Chili Relleno withoiut any complaints. Looking forward to going back and trying some other entrees. read more

Truly a great alternative for Mexican food if JJ's isn't quite cutting it for you (or at least that's how I feel). While the food is still Americanized (I am from Southern California (not that that means I know truly authentic Mexican food) and half Mexican, so I have had some truly phenomenal food), that's what can be expected for a restaurant to survive in this part of the country. People like their cheddar cheese, and for whatever reason LOVE everything to be unseasoned or absolutely doused in salt, no in between. That being said, La Hacienda del Sazón really hit the spot yesterday. We had just come back from a trip out to Lovelock, and wanted a good tamale and some rice and beans! My fiancée got the #5 with a shredded "beff" burrito, shredded "beff" enchilada and a carne asada street taco. The shredded beef is very flavorful, tender and delicious! The carne asada was also tender and packed with flavor, though there were a LOT of fat/gristle pieces that I really don't care for. Regardless it was still great. I ordered the #12, with a pork tamale, and shredded "beff" in the Enchilada. The enchilada was pretty standard, and the rice and beans were also pretty standard (though my fiancée loved the beans more than I did). The tamale was I would say slightly below average. Tamales are my favorite food and I hold them to an extremely high standard, so take my rating with a grain of salt (haha)! All in all we will most definitely be back! I will say, the reason for only 4 stars is the average food (again, compared to what I am used to), and the very odd design in the plates. They have these weird design in them that looks like they tried to make a separated plate but just made it hard to cut anything. read more

Unassuming entrance, best Tortilla Soup I've had at a restaurant in the US. Much broader menu selection than many Mexican restaurants, they provide more options in addition to the usual Tacos, quesadillas, and burritos. Their Nachos were really good too-ample cheese that stayed cheesy, good guacamole and good refried beans. If you like whole beans that might be an option, but I'm a fan of refried beans. read more

Fantastic food, authentic Mexican cuisine. The best Tortilla soup I've ever had, the small was huge. Large quantity of white meat chicken, lots of avocado, cilantro and lots of melted cheese. Our favorite "go to" Mexican Restaurant! We really enjoy their carnitas, carne asada, chili rellenos and tacos. Whatever we order we like!

So there I was, me and a couple of folks I work with, and the boss wants to take us to lunch. We ended up here, and we were glad that we did. First, and this is important to me, there was a plethora of chips, two kinds of salsa, and refried beans provided upon arrival. There was no need to wait to start eating, and so we did. Second, everybody ordered different things, and none of the five of us was disappointed. There was a huge burrito, and green wet burrito, tacos (both hard shell and traditional), a chile rellano, and enchiladas (mine with a nice mole sauce). Most of the plates came with sides of beans and rice, and you should know that the portions were on the generous side. Third, the service was good. I enjoy a lot of my beverage of choice, water, and I was never left wanting. So, ultimately there are decisions to make about where to spend your hard earned dining dollar, but if you like chips upon arrival, a number of attractive choices and good service, this establishment is worthy of a good long look.
