If you have read any of my reviews I am a stickler for hot temperature food. This place hits high marks. The food is hot, fresh, and delicious. The restaurant is clean, well decorated, with good music. They have a nice little patio for seating. We chose to sit inside as it was very windy. Pappa and uncle switch off cooking, but always delish. Unique sauces and flavors; not commercial... Simply good. Chips and salsa are a must here! They are served warm and fresh and their agua de tamarindo is my absolute favorite! I will visit this spot for a burrito if I'm in the area. This particular visit; I had to order a few tacos as well. Service was wonderful and I was glad the dining room was quieter. It was a hotter day and the tamarindo agua hit the spot! Iykyk! Honestly absolutely love this store and it's a staple to stop by anytime I make a trip to Carson City to fill up on gas. They have top tier quality meats to make authentic dishes along with so many treats from Mexico. From Lengua to Menudo to pork for pozole, they have it all. Also, they have nice little knick knacks and china from Mexico that makes it feel a little more homey. Not to mention their grill (not pictured) where you can get something prepared hot and eat it there. But today's center stage was the pastries. We come here to always get any birthday celebration but I was blown away by their new selections and designs. Wish they had a sampler of the various cakes, but they do custom orders as well. I found the one with the chocolate teacup so charming and demonstrates their creativity. They did have buñuelos to sample at the check out and they were so nice, crunchy, and sweet while not being too oily. Lastly, everyone is so kinda and nice. As a Native Spanish speaker, I always feel so empowered and excited to see Hispanic owned businesses and the engagement is always so endearing, friendly, and personal. 110% recommendations stopping by if you like Mexican cuisine or culture. This is a five star Mexican Restaurant! Fresh, home cooked food. I was served tortilla chips with green and red salsa plus a small bowl of refried beans. The green and red salsas were flavorful, so good, not too spicy and reminded me of enchilada sauce, not bitter or watery, not tart and definitely not canned or bottled. The refried beans were smooth, hot, yummy and not too salty nor were they loaded with lard. I ordered a combo plate: shredded beef enchilada with verde sauce and shredded beef crispy taco no lettuce. The plate came with refried beans and rice. The meal was delicious. The shredded beef was so flavorful and tender, yummy. It tasted like brisket cooked for hours. The enchilada sauce was the best green/verde sauce I've had in years. The rice and beans were excellent, too. I love that the food wasn't salty. The customer service was exceptional. The employees and owners, all who were busy, were happy, smiling and helpful. They were great with all customers. They looked as though they liked being there, enjoyed their jobs. I will start with this: It is generally not acceptable to touch ready to eat foods with bare hands, as it can contaminate the food and increase the risk of foodborne illness and others illnesses. That being said, this place uses their BARE HANDS to get chip out of their container to serve to their customers. Saw this with my own eyes! Not by one waiter/waitress, but all of them! They continually went from handling money, credit cards, using the cash register, touching trays and tables, handling the rag they had to clean off a table (which the did not clean very well), touching their own body, hair and face! At NO time did I see any one of them wash their hands! This is disgusting to say the least! The floors are dirty and the restaurant is disheveled. If this is the outward appearance, then it makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like. If you don't believe me, and you have been here, look around and think, if you have sat in the booths by the kitchen opening, you will know and see exactly what I am talking about. Food: food is ok, not great and when it comes to portion, they are fair. If you want cheese, don't expect a lot. If you ask for additional cheese or sour cream they charge you for it. Service: this has to be the worst place for customer service and has gotten worse. They do not say "hello" or "welcome" when you enter. This is a family run business and it is clear that they allow their adult children to treat their customers poorly. The daughter could not be ruder when she waits on people. If she is in a bad mood she just stares at you when she takes an order with a look of distain on her face. She picks and chooses who she is treats properly. It is almost like you are bothering her and it takes her forever to wait on tables or get drinks out. I watched her when I was there and she treats each customer differently. The son parks his car in front of the restaurant. I find this to be absolutely rude. Customer service does not just extend to inside your restaurant, but it should especially with parking, when the parking lot itself is small. He does not say a word, he just stares at you. But have noticed when the sister is in the restaurant with him the two of them will ignore customers and chat amongst themselves. The two other waitresses are ok. It is rare that anyone will even say "Thank you" or "Bye" when you leave. I do not recommend this place, unless you like the above service and behavior. We have a lot of Mexican restaurants in Gardnerville and Minden to pick from that have super food, they are clean, don't handle chips with their bare dirty hands and have fabulous service. I suggest you try one of them. If you do not like my review, that is too bad, It us the truth and I suggest you and your staff nd family members do better. read more

So far, the best Mexican food I've had in the area. Green & Red Salsa with Bean dip served with the chips. All were solid. The bean dip is basically refried beans. I had the Machaca con Huevos...it was delicious. Rice/Beans are solid. My wife had the Chili Relleno withoiut any complaints. Looking forward to going back and trying some other entrees. read more

Unassuming entrance, best Tortilla Soup I've had at a restaurant in the US. Much broader menu selection than many Mexican restaurants, they provide more options in addition to the usual Tacos, quesadillas, and burritos. Their Nachos were really good too-ample cheese that stayed cheesy, good guacamole and good refried beans. If you like whole beans that might be an option, but I'm a fan of refried beans. read more

Truly a great alternative for Mexican food if JJ's isn't quite cutting it for you (or at least that's how I feel). My fiancée got the #5 with a shredded "beff" burrito, shredded "beff" enchilada and a carne asada street taco. The shredded beef is very flavorful, tender and delicious! The carne asada was also tender and packed with flavor, though there were a LOT of fat/gristle pieces that I really don't care for. Regardless it was still great. I ordered the #12, with a pork tamale, and shredded "beff" in the Enchilada. The enchilada was pretty standard, and the rice and beans were also pretty standard (though my fiancée loved the beans more than I did). The tamale was I would say slightly below average. Tamales are my favorite food and I hold them to an extremely high standard, so take my rating with a grain of salt (haha)! All in all we will most definitely be back! I will say, the reason for only 4 stars is the average food (again, compared to what I am used to), and the very odd design in the plates. They have these weird design in them that looks like they tried to make a separated plate but just made it hard to cut anything. read more

It's mediocre at best. I absolutely can't stand when people use shredded chicken for their street tacos and it just gets all wet and soggy. The salsa is boring and not very flavorful same to say with the margarita. The ceviche is all pico de gallo with a little bit of shrimp. I do like their chilaquiles. But that's the only thing I will go back for anymore. It's also weird that every time I've gone in there the employees are sitting and eating at a booth in the middle of the restaurant while seating and serving you. read more

So there I was, me and a couple of folks I work with, and the boss wants to take us to lunch. We ended up here, and we were glad that we did. First, and this is important to me, there was a plethora of chips, two kinds of salsa, and refried beans provided upon arrival. There was no need to wait to start eating, and so we did. Second, everybody ordered different things, and none of the five of us was disappointed. There was a huge burrito, and green wet burrito, tacos (both hard shell and traditional), a chile rellano, and enchiladas (mine with a nice mole sauce). Most of the plates came with sides of beans and rice, and you should know that the portions were on the generous side. Third, the service was good. I enjoy a lot of my beverage of choice, water, and I was never left wanting. So, ultimately there are decisions to make about where to spend your hard earned dining dollar, but if you like chips upon arrival, a number of attractive choices and good service, this establishment is worthy of a good long look. The food was unimaginably bad and the hostess was arrogant, rude & disrespectful towards us. I am utterly saddened by the behavior & would never visit this restaurant again.
