Meant to take more pictures but the food was too good .

Don Chepe has good Mexican fare with great family value pricing. They serve specials and have overall a big selection of classic Mexican dishes. The service was great , slow Monday and our hostess was on it. She was also our server and didn't miss a beat. We have now bin here twice and love it. Great weekday dinner option. This place is authentic and has beautiful decor to fit the menu:

Horchata and Jamaica Agua Fresca. Very tasty!

Today my fiancé and I ate at Don Chepe Mexican Restaurant. We were greeted right away and immediately served chips, salsa, and beans. My fiancé ordered the birria plate with rice, beans, and consomé, while I had the green shredded beef enchiladas with rice and beans. We also shared a mixed pupusa filled with pork and beans. The food was very flavorful, and we received our meals surprisingly fast. The customer service was excellent -- our server was so friendly and attentive. Overall, the experience was amazing, and we'll definitely be coming back!

Well this was my first time at this new restaurant in Carson City and it wasn't bad. The place is spacious with plenty of seating and also a bar area with television screens ( which I think would be cool to watch sports when they get drinks to serve). That being said, it's so new they are still waiting for their alcohol license to be able to serve drinks. My party had 3 of us total and we're at down immediately. We were served chips and salsa which I have to say the salsa was very good. We ordered our plates of food and got our food. The food tasted good and all of us were full. It wasn't anything amazing, but wasn't bad either. It was good food for the price point. The portions were decent and tasted good. I'd say everyone should go give it a try! It will probably better once they get their alcohol license where people can hang out at the bar and watch sports or have a drink with their meals. The restaurant is located in a shopping centre where there is plenty of parking! Outdoor seating on a nice day is also available. I'll wait a bit to go back and try this place again.

Pic of our takeout trays. I'm looking forward to having time to sit down inside and see these 2 amazing dishes plated!

One of the best dinner deals for two in Carson City! Molcahete mar y Tierra for two!

Empty restaurant upon arrival. It's a decent size restaurant. Sad that it wasn't busy. Our service was kind. We tried to order alcohol and for whatever reason they said they weren't serving alcohol. For me I've never heard of such a thing. Everyone likes tacos and good beer! I was disappointed with that. The quesabirria was amazing - I was impressed. Enchiladas were average. Overall idk if we would return or not. Middle of the road rating.

Taco salad with sauce on side!

I reviewed the asada taco salad didn't expect that the pollo would be so different! Excellent soft mixed cheese, the chicken was crispy on edges and great tostada. Very very good!

I dove right in!

If you've been to Francisco's you know where this place is. In the wink of an eye Don Chepe slipped in and started their own menu. It's a bit limited for now but I found just what I wanted. I had a street taco and a tostada with fish, ceviche really. So tasty! Run by the whole family, dad in the kitchen son out taking orders, everyone ready to serve. There's no alcohol yet, but no problem here, the iced tea was good and we all understand with a new restaurant the costs need to be brought in one by one.

Burrito and enchiladas

Don Chepe is one of the newer Mexican places in Carson City. We were very excited to try it and we were hopeful it would be the new go-to. We went during the week for dinner and were sat right away. The service was very very good. Our waitress was nice and checked on us multiple times during our meal. We got enchiladas and a chorizo burrito. The burrito was really good but the enchiladas were so-so. It seems like everything was mediocre and didn't have a ton of flavor. I was disappointed with the beans and rice. Both were just really lacking flavor which was sad because that's usually my favorite part of eating out at a Mexican restaurant. We shared a flan at the end and it was really yummy and a decent portion. We did have an issue with the check, the price we were charged was a few dollars more per item than what was on the menu. The server was able to correct it so it wasn't a big deal, good thing we were paying attention. With so much competition in town we aren't sure if we'll be back.

2 Birria taco plate

The cheese Birria taco plate was excellent. Fresh rice & beans. Meaty side of broth consome which came hot from the doordash. Fresh cold salsa. Nice pile of cilantro & onion to add to them. They were cooked perfectly nice & crispy, plenty of Birria meat in them. The guac was really solid too. It had real avocado chunks, it wasn't fake, it also had pico in it, very good. The chips were very fresh, not gross greasy chips either. I will order from here again, & probably more than I did from the old restaurant that was here. This one is very different, I like what they have going on here, more than the last place. What a great Birria.

It was really good and great service horchata water is really good too.......... ......

Two crunch chicken tacos from the lunch special board. $9.99

Had lunch here on Tuesday around 11:30am. I was the first in our part of 4 to arrive. I was immediately greeted and taken to a booth. Service was great and once everyone arrived we placed our orders (all from the lunch special board). Food came out quick and was tasty. The bill came to just under $40 for four lunch specials, everyone drank water. That is quite a deal these days. I'm knocking down one star as the chips are not my favorite. A little thick and lacking salt. I'll definitely be returning to try other items.

Had carne asada nachos. The cheese is canned, like you'd get at a ballpark. But it makes me wonder how much else came out of a can.

I was happy to see they were open and went in and placed my order to-go for a chicken quesadilla, quesabirria tacos and an asada burrito. I tried everything and it was fresh and hot. The salsas were delicious and the hot red is spicy. I love eating grilled chiles with my favorite Mexican meals and appreciated the extras in my plate. Service was fairly quick and just as quickly as my order went in, it came out. I sat off to the side and watched three women working together in this small kitchen to get the orders our out and worked in beautiful harmony. Family run establishments and local businesses are my favorite to support. I think this one needs more kudos. They are attatched to the country store gas station in Carson. I believe there are just five tables in this dining room and seemed to have tables outside as well. Prices were good for the amount of food I got. I'll take that as a win in this economy. The only downside were the chips, but everything else was delicious! I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area!

Every now and then I have one of those where have I been moments?…read moreWell, today was one of those times. I was at a plaza, not far from where San Marcos Grill is located. We were hungry and decided we wanted Mexican food. We've been really tired of the place we've been visiting as we are regulars there. We've been really wanting to try something new and I remembered there was a place down the street from the plaza we were at. San Marcos Grill is not very hard to find. It's just off the main drag going through Carson City on Winnie Lane. We pulled in to the parking lot and I have to be honest. My first thought was wow I hope this place is good. Because I had my doubts being in a strip mall. But you never know unless you try. So we walked, and I was amazed, how awesome this place looked I'm talking very festive, very clean. Tables were well spaced out. The lady greeted us immediately and pointed us to a table where we could sit at. She was there taking our drink orders very quickly. As we sat and looked over the menu, I could not get over the size and beauty of the bar that they have in this establishment. Complete with a great selection of any kind of drink, you could possibly want also TVs that are spaced around the establishment so if you want to watch a sport event, there's not a bad seat anywhere in the restaurant. After looking over the menu, our server came to our table was a very nice young lady and took our orders. My wife chose the beef enchiladas, and a taquito, which comes with rice and beans As I always do with a new establishment, I chose the Carnitas plate. I am a Carnitas aficionado and I always try everyone's Carnitas to see if they are legit. As we're waiting for our food, I noticed an older gentleman who was just helping everybody, come to find out he is the owner. I do not know his name, but he's very friendly guy and very warm and welcoming. As I said, the establishment is very spacious and clean. The bathroom was even clean, so it was a real joy to be there, even though we were waiting on our food, which did not take very long. My wife ordered a margarita that she really liked and I just had a Modelo with a lime. The gentleman I just told you about who I think is the owner brought our food to us and it looked amazing. Needless to say, we dug right into our food and I could not get over how great these Carnitas tasted. Not everyone can make really good Carnitas, they're either dry or they're cooked too long to were they are too crispy. These are so tender and flavorful. I enjoyed every bite. My plate came with rice in a small bowl of beans, a garnish of avocado, sour cream and pico. It also came with very hot corn tortillas The tortillas, however we're spoiled and tasted really old. In fact, you can smell how old they were. I let our server know, but it was no big deal because I had tortilla chips still on the table. She offered to get me some new tortillas, but it was fine because I only use the tortilla to kind of put my food onto the fork. So the tortilla chips worked just fine. I kept trying to eat the Carnitas slowly because I was savoring it so much. I did not want to hurry and be done with the meal too fast. This was our first visit here, and I can tell you that we will be back and probably become regulars. The staff here is very wonderful welcoming and I cannot recommend this place high enough to anyone that wants a great place to eat really great Mexican food. Kudos to the staff.!

For me, the tortilla chips and salsa are a good litmus test of how the food is going to be. All I can say is the chips were AMAZING. Crisp and flavorful. These chips were clearly homemade. The salsa was meh, but the chips were amazing. On this day, we were taken care of two wonderful Latina's, which added to the authenticity of the experience. I overheard our waitress saying she was from Mexico City. Legit. Our friends ordered the Sopas and Birria "soup". The Sopas looked amazing, with a hand formed tortilla and served with a variety of proteins. Our friend ordered the carnitas and chorizo, to have a couple of flavors to sample. She said that the tortilla was bit different than "her mom would make" but did not take away anything from the dish. Her husband had the Birria "soup". I don't know if that was the official name but that's what it looked like. LOL. Served in a rich broth (not oily) were wonderfully seasoned, tender chunks of Birria beef. Whenever a Mexican restaurant offers Menudo for breakfast, I'm down. Menudo it was. This dish was served with Tripe only, lacking the familiar hominy in the dish. I came to understand, the inclusion of hominy varies, depending on where in Mexico the recipe comes from. Well, all right, now I know. The kiss of death of Menudo is if the soup is "oily". No oily broth here. The dish was perfect, served all the normal accoutrement, including onions, cilantro and oregano. Now about the tortillas. We were told that the tortillas were hand made. O-M-G. These were the most delicious corn tortillas I have ever had. I couldn't stop eating them. OMG. Last but not least, my wife ordered the breakfast burrito. She ordered it with bacon instead of the normal Chorizo. Her breakfast burrito was legit. I don't know how they prepared their potatoes but man-o-man were they good. The burrito is also served with Mexican Queso. SO GOOD. The cheese added creamy goodness to the burrito. What a great meal. The restaurant is small but super clean and the staff were amazing. We are looking forward to sampling more of the menu. Que Bueno
