We had our Friendsgiving dinner celebration at Z Bistro last night. What a nice little charming restaurant! Our server was super friendly and very knowledgeable about explaining the menu and wine. My pork Schnitzel was very delicious and flavorful. Everyone else in our group enjoyed their food as well. The pumkin creme brullee and the homemade coffe ice cream was the cherry on top. I like the small seasonal choices. They change their menu around every month. Thank you so much for this pleasant evening at Z Bistro. Looking forward to come back.

Googled creme brulee in Carson and this place pops up. If you don't know that this place exists, go!! We were greeted immediately as we walk in by the owner Brandon himself. He was very friendly and informative. He told us that his menu changes once a month and gets revamped with new items. That is such a clever idea. We went in simply for dessert. I was craving creme brulee and they had it. Coconut Creme Brulee: I have only ever had traditional creme brulee, but the coconut was a nice change. Amazingly silky texture and fantastic taste!! Chocolate Ice Cream: perfect creamy texture and tasted great. More like a dark chocolate flavor than regualar chocolate, which was a pleasant surprise. Don't let the price scare you, portion sizes, ambiance and service make this place WELL WORTH IT!! THANKS BRANDON FOR MY AMAZING BDAY DESSERT. We will be back to try dinner next.

We had an amazingly delicious lunch at Z Bistro a few weeks ago. (Sorry, I got behind and am just now getting to the review.) Z Bistro's food is as tasty as it is beautiful, and that's saying something. Look at the pictures. It's even more gorgeous in real life. And it tastes even better. Chef Brandon and front house Alec are super friendly, attentive and could not be nicer humans. It's always a treat to stop in for a blissful dining experience. Thanks so much. We hope to be back soon.

As always great food and service at Z Bistro. It's small, so make sure to make a reservation the menu changes monthly. Quaint authentic casual French dining.

Came from Reno for date night Alex & Chef were super nice they kept checking on us and kept our glasses full. The service & ambiance was lovely! Our main course meals were super yum, I had the short beef ribs with mashed mmm & the lamb burger was beyond delicious. Highly recommend. This experience was super ideal for a date night or adult outing. We will definitely be back!

Was given a gift certificate from my daughter at Christmas and finally got to use it last night for my hubbies birthday. We started with the chicken satay which was tender and very tasty. He had the salmon and I had the cordon bleu which were both excellent. Finished the meal off with vanilla ice cream and I had the crème de brûlée. What a way to end this delicious meal. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Thank you Chef Brandon for such a beautiful dining experience! The level of artistry that you put in to each plate was exceptional. You can tell you carefully curate everything on your menu, I only wish I lived closer to try more. I've had the privilege in my life to eat at some of the best restaurants in the world. I'm originally from Carson and have not lived here for many years but visit family here from time to time. I've never had a dining experience like this any where else in the Carson Reno Tahoe area. If you are considering dining here, jump on the phone and make a reservation right away. The ambiance is perfect for any occasion! Alec was our server tonight and he was so personable, knowledgeable and flawlessly took care of all of his tables with the biggest smile. Carson City is lucky to have gained such an amazing chef who creates magic in his kitchen every night! I will be back for sure! 5 Star Amazing dishes we had tonight: Pear and Gorgonzola raviolis Seared Salmon Mushroom Bisque Crème Brûlée Vanilla ice cream with rum infused whipped cream

Here is what we noticed: - It's a pretty unassuming place...we parked in the side lot and walked around to their main entrance. They even had some specials highlighted as we entered. - Inside there is lots of seating...when we arrived the front of the place was empty, but people were sitting there when we left and we noticed that it is much quieter in that section of the restaurant than in the main dining room. - As others have noted, chorizo is their specialty and it's in many of the dishes. And, it is worth it!...and, not spicy like you might think of chorizo. My wife and I ordered the Quesadilla and the Basque Omelette, and we split both (plus, we took some home too). Each dish was really good in its own right, and being able to have the chorizo prepared two ways was great. Their home fries were really tasty too. - Service was good....very attentive, especially considering that it took us a while to decide what to order given the breadth of the menu. - We paid cash because of their sign indicating that that was preferred. Bottom line: We'd go back to Villa Basque Cafe anytime we're in Carson City...next time, we'd like to try some of their lunch options!

We started with the sage and cheddar biscuits, which were wonderful, and the glazed pork belly with chili crunch with toasted cashews - the combo of the nuts and pork was really delicious. We then had the Niman Ranch pork chop and grilled steak frites. Pork chop came with creamy polenta, mushrooms, and a blueberry glaze - I'm hungry just writing about all this. The chop was grilled to perfection - moist (no pink meat) and nicely charred for the flavor. The glaze is a hint of sweetness and the creamy polenta is a winner. The mushrooms are an excellent compliment. The grilled steak was also cooked to perfection - medium rare. The flat iron steak is such a great cut of meat. The fries in duck fat were very good. For dessert, we had a chocolate masterpiece. The meal was well priced considering the location and the time of year. And while the meal was special, it was the service that really made the experience special. While being utterly professional, the staff is also friendly and on top of it. I regret I didn't ask the hostess her name, but she was excellent - filled our water glasses without being asked once, and asked if we would like clean utensils after our appetizers. Our server was also excellent. I'd have more pictures usually, but we were so hungry after a LONG day at Sand Harbor, we forgot!

Well greeted, attentive without hovering, and they took really good care of us throughout the night. They also hooked it up with a few birthday extras which I definitely appreciated. Ambience is very old school steakhouse. Big booth, pillows, kind of classic and comfortable in that traditional way. Food was... meh. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. The steak itself was fine, but the bacon wrap was not good and kind of threw the dish off. Escargot was interesting, honestly the best part was the pastry on top more than the escargot itself. Left feeling taken care of, just not blown away by the food.

We wanted to meet up for dinner. I figured picking a spot in his hotel would be easier, so we decided to try Ciera. They are on OpenTable, but there were no reservations avail. I called earlier in the day and they were able to accommodate us at the time listed above. They have a set menu which is an okay deal. Considering the escargots are typically $20, the caesar is $12, the 8oz filet is $55 (the one on the set menu is 6oz), and the desserts above are $10 each, I don't really think you are saving any money. I actually did not take part and got the soup and seafood tower. I wasn't super hungry, so it was nice having something lighter. Both were standard. I don't recall loving or hating either one. The drinks here are good tho. My manhattan was nice and stiff. When it came time for the bill, we noticed the macallans were listed at $30 each. I took a pic of the menu and we asked about the price difference. They apologized and comped us both drinks. A really nice gesture. Vibe wise, it's very much an old school steakhouse with lush leather booths. We were sat at a table in the middle and I was a little envious of the people in the booths. They are huge and looked so cozy and comfy. I'd definitely recommend making a note about seating if you decide to come here. A booth would be the way to go. Overall an okay meal. I'd probably give it 3 stars. But bumping it up to 4 for the customer service! REVIEW #3843

The bill before tip was $350 and I was not mad at all about that because it was worth it. The Comanche Creek Spring Pea Salad was amazing. Even my "I don't like peas, but get it if you want" dining partner gobbled it up with a smile. The fried quail was good and larger than expected. The real star was the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio! Something I may have passed on because I've eaten it at so many places, but so glad I didn't because it set the bar as the best I have ever had and I wish I could have it again and again. The Elk Chop was delicious and perfectly cooked. There was an $8 split charge for that, but we could not have fit an additional main in our belly, so half a main each was the perfect serving size. It left just enough room to order a lovely dessert, the Chocolate Pistachio Royal. All in all a great meal. The only thing that could have made it better would be a more relaxed pace. I felt like moments after we ordered, way before our cocktails arrived, all 3 starters were placed in front of us. Drinks first, and then maybe one starter at a time would have felt less rushed. Then the moment our plates were cleared our dinner was there. A minute or two for a breath would be nice. I know too fast is way better than too slow so not really complaining. But the view was beautiful and the amiance was so special I would have liked a slower pace to take it all in.

Would recommend coming around sunset time! We booked a table right before sunset and there's a small patio right outside the restaurant you can take nice golden hour photos at while waiting for your meal or after. The views of the lake through the glass windows is one of the best parts of coming here. Food was good, we got: Amuse Bouche - Fruit with micro meat iced in a shot glass (complimentary) Appetizers: - King Prawn Tostada $38 - came with 3 prawns which were huge! And delicious. The tostada was pretty thick and tough to eat in certain places - Fried Quail $42 - really unique, I've never had fried quail and it was great flavor! It came on a bed of coleslaw and we didn't like the coleslaw, had a sweet flavor to it - Bread and butter $8 - crunchy on the outside and super soft on the inside. came with 4 rolls and a side of salted butter, lavender butter and chili honey Mains: - American Wagyu Filet $79 - tender and came with a side of potatoes. The meat itself was very tender. Mild flavored and came with a huckleberry juniper jus which I didn't love the sweetness but still good - Elk chop $62 - very unique, we don't see this much so was recommended to try. It was good and gamey. Told it was imported from New Zealand. Dessert: We were too full for dessert but they gave us bits of complimentary raspberry chocolate which was delicious Drinks: - Haleakala (non alcoholic) $15 - delicious mocktail with a coconut flavor - Vesuvius (non alcoholic) $15 - sweet cherry taste to it, a bit too sweet for us The food here is very pricey. It's good quality and tastes good but definitely feels like you're paying for the ambiance and service. Great for special occasions. We were celebrating a birthday and they wished us happy birthday multiple times. Parking is valet only ~ complimentary and only need to tip.
