Came in for a birthday dinner and overall had a good experience... just wish the food matched it a bit more. Service was great. Our server and his assistant were both on it. Well greeted, attentive without hovering, and they took really good care of us throughout the night. They also hooked it up with a few birthday extras which I definitely appreciated. Ambience is very old school steakhouse. Big booth, pillows, kind of classic and comfortable in that traditional way. Food was... meh. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. Considering the escargots are typically $20, the caesar is $12, the 8oz filet is $55 (the one on the set menu is 6oz), and the desserts above are $10 each, I don't really think you are saving any money. I actually did not take part and got the soup and seafood tower. I wasn't super hungry, so it was nice having something lighter. Both were standard. I don't recall loving or hating either one. The drinks here are good tho. My manhattan was nice and stiff. When it came time for the bill, we noticed the macallans were listed at $30 each. I took a pic of the menu and we asked about the price difference. They apologized and comped us both drinks. A really nice gesture. Vibe wise, it's very much an old school steakhouse with lush leather booths. We were sat at a table in the middle and I was a little envious of the people in the booths. They are huge and looked so cozy and comfy. I'd definitely recommend making a note about seating if you decide to come here. A booth would be the way to go. Overall an okay meal. Amazing service with impeccable timing! Our server John was very well experienced server who made our dinner here very special for my husband's birthday. French onion soup was as amazing as it looks, flavorful and cheesy and very delicious, and my chopped salad (it was leaf salad, not chopped though) was very delicate but tasty with chopped avocado and tomato. But the main dish, their famous 30oz tomahawk wagyu stake was just out of the world. It's not just the size. It's the quality of the meat and the way chef grilled it. Perfect. We came here with good friends to celebrate a share a mid-holiday meal together. Our server John, was absolutely amazing and perfectly executed superior service throughout the night together with his teammates. My wife and I had the Chateaubriand for two (a favorite of ours) and one of our friends tried the pork chop and the other had the Salmon made gluten free. Sitting in a private booth was nice and made more private as we dined with the pull of curtains and we were in our own celebratory world! Dessert was also epic. We tried and shared a slice of cheesecake, lava cake and berries & whipped cream. Each was magnificently prepared and delivered. The only drawback coming here for me is the same as any casino restaurant: having to walk through cigarette & cigar smoke. Ciera was a good restaurant overall but not one I'd return to. The price point does not match the quality i'd expect at a ''nicer" steakhouse. The decor was stuck in the 90s and I did not like the layout. It felt very odd seeing the kitchen and area the waiters hung out. We ordered our meat medium rare and the prime rib came out exactly as requested. The filet was closer to medium well. The prime rib was also on the semi cold on the outside like it was just heat up. The manager here is top notch! He does a wonderful job checking on tables and keeps service moving, including clearing plates when needed. Visited this place as a nice dinner for an anniversary and before heading to the Hockey game next door and it was a great experience! The atmosphere is that old school low lit steak house with great service. The steak was cooked perfectly and the flavor was good. We are at this restaurant last night in the food and the service was magnificent. When we got there, they seated us immediately at a booth in the corner that had drapes that could be closed. The atmosphere was very elegant, and our waiter was very knowledgeable in the menu. My husband and I ordered the "Chateaubriand For Two". Which consisted of a 24oz filet mignon, bouquetiere of vegetables, roasted garlic, mashed potatoes, and bearnaise sauce. For dessert we had the chocolate lava cake. We made this reservation to celebrate the Fourth of July because a friend recommended it. When we got there on the fourth they told us that they weren't offering their prix fixe menu because of the holiday. We asked the hostess in person if they were offering their prix fixe the next day and she said yes so we changed our reservation. 6:00 pm July 5th we get to the restaurant and they tell us that they're still not doing the prix fixe ... we had already looked up the menu, decided on what we were going to order and we were excited for our dinner but we were incredibly disappointed when we arrived. We ended up eating there anyway since we were already there and the restaurant was maybe 1/2-3/4 full. We were also told that the chef decided that day that he wasn't going to offer the prix fixe so that definitely added to our disappointment. We started off this dinner with a pretty negative experience but they comped our wine so that was really nice of them. For the food, $70 for the New York strip with no sides was quite pricey (but I guess that's Tahoe pricing?). The lamb was delicious and that came in a full rack. Highly recommend the escargot as well - this was probably our favorite. Overall I don't think we'll be coming back but we had a wonderful server who definitely elevated our dining experience. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the Ciera Steak and Chophouse! For many reasons, this restaurant does not merit a Four Diamond award, or any other award for that matter! While the ambiance is nice and the service was OK, the food is anything but award-winning. The items that we ordered were not fairly priced and they did not match the description on the menu at all. The New York Strip steak ($70) was supposed to be 14 ounces. There is absolutely NO WAY that this piece of meat was that large. Maybe 10 ounces, max. It was an extremely thin slice of beef, not a thick and juicy cut at all. Possibly because of its thin size, it was overcooked. I ordered medium rare, and it came out medium, possibly medium well in spots. I would have sent it back, but I didn't want to wait for another steak to be cooked, nor did I want to embarrass the other guests at my table. The side of mushrooms was tiny. It was MAYBE two tablespoons! This was not a shareable side dish for the table, but rather, a single side, and skimpy at that! With all of that being said, the ABSOLUTE worse item was the Seafood Platter (market price $52 for ONE PERSON.) This dish was a disgrace! The entire "platter" offered ONE shrimp, ONE oyster, ONE HALF crab leg and ONE HALF of a tiny lobster tail. This is an example of gouging the customer! I absolutely feel like I was taken advantage of BIG TIME! I am not a cheap person and do expect to pay a premium at a nice steakhouse. But this was out of line! It seems like the casino industry is taking advantage of the consumer at a time when budgets are tight and tourism is down. Bally's needs to shift its approach and offer their guests an experience that makes them feel good. The food should be properly cooked, portions fair, and pricing set to satisfy both the consumer and the restaurant. read more

Never have i been to a more racist restaurant. Completely in shock!They put us in a boot that was very private. At first I thought it was nice until I noticed all the white people in the main restaurant, and everyone of color hidden in these dark booths with curtains. We have been staying at this Hotel spending our money for four days and this is the treatment we get. If you're going to spend money on a good meal and good experience I would highly recommend going to the Wolf not here! The Wolf had excellent food good vibe and very friendly staff. When we dinned at the Wolf the staff was very attentive,Here they took our order and gave us bread. They partly closed our curtains and we didn't see them till our food arrived. One of the best dinner experiences we have had in South Lake Tahoe. The private booths with curtains are amazing and we were really wowed with this. They have a pre-fixe menu but they were not offering it on the day we visited due to it being the holidays. Nevertheless we ordered the escargot, lobster tempura for appetizers & lamb chops and filet Oscar for main course. All the dishes were incredible. Drinks were wonderful. The staff was amazing & courteous. We ended with the chocolate lava cake dessert. In the end we were offered chocolate covered strawberries which were a nice gesture. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Ciera Steak and Chophouse at Bally's. I used to go there monthly last year and the food and service were excellent. This year is different. The restaurant must have changed hands. With the exception of one server who knew the difference, the others were not that friendly. My sister and I were put in a booth so dark we couldn't see the menus. We asked for an additional light (small candle-like device like they provide for each table), but the server somehow didn't understand. So I had the person serving water help me with the flashlight on my cell phone. We ordered the Prix Fix meal, which we usually do. The menu didn't offer the wonderful salad they used to have with mixed greens and nuts, so we chose the escargot. I was mostly greasy with little taste. The File Mignon was dry, tough, and tasteless. It used to come with mashed potato and a delicious sauce. This dish was served with a few very tiny dry potato pieces and tough asparagus. The carrot was OK. The cheesecake for desert was tasteless. We ordered one bottle of wine that was OK. The bill, $200! I will never go there again. read more

They do it right! Then I had the bacon wrapped 6oz. filet Mignon with fingerling potatoes and vegetables. The filet was perfectly prepared medium rare. The potatoes were tasty. For dessert, I had the most decadent chocolate lava cake. They evidently use a high grade chocolate in the recipe, for quality was readily apparent in the taste. Oh my goodness was it delicious! We were seated in a private booth with a fresh rose on the table and the lovely wait staff was always close by to make sure we had everything we needed. We normally stick to our more casual places in Tahoe, but we decided to treat ourselves a little bit and really enjoyed it here. We came here for a friend's birthday dinner, and there were about 10 of us, I think. They gave us menus, and then told us we needed to quickly look over the menus because they needed their menus back; they were short on menus. I ordered the Escargot Bourguignon and the Medley of Seafood Linguine. Both pretty good, and first time I had escargot that came with a big pastry on top of it. Half of the table ordered mojitos and the other half ordered glasses of wine. Those who ordered the mojitos all agreed that it tasted strange and not like a mojito. The mint wasn't even muddled and just added to the drink. We told the waiter, and he took them back to have them remade. The second time around, the mojitos tasted just a teeny bit better, but still tasted off. So, the waiter said he'd make it up to us... he only took off a couple of mojitos off the check, not all of our mojitos, and then gave free wine refills to the ones who ordered wine, which didn't make sense because they had no issue with their wine and enjoyed their wine and extra wine, while we, the ones who had messed up mojitos, didn't have a drink to enjoy. read more
