Manager and service was absolutely horrid. Reservation was for 9:30PM. We got seated at 10:20PM. Received first drink at 11:00PM and didn't get our main course until after 12:15AM. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE if the manager or staff would have apologized or acknowledged how long it was taking. Instead, the manager accused me of lying about the wait times, insisting he had ticket timestamps to prove otherwise. I explained those reflected when the orders were entered, not the 30+ minute delays before they reached our table. He continued to accuse me of lying. After spending nearly $2,000, all we expected was a simple apology or acknowledgment of the poor service which one can get at a McDonalds for heaven sakes. Decided to try this steak house last minute on Saturday and was able to book a reservation. We had the lobster bisque which was yummy! We shared the dry aged ribeye and it was delicious. We also had the white cheddar Mac and cheese and asparagus and differently recommend those delicious sides! I also ordered a watermelon margarita and I loved it! The service seemed very new but they tried their best. The resturant has only been open for a couple of weeks but definitely can tell that with time the service will get better. The restaurant is very small and loud but very nicely decorated. The live music was great and a very added cool Vibe. This was one of the events of the weekend that I was most excited for besides the golf. Huge reservation for our group. Some things were a total hit and some were a total miss. Overall a good experience for most. If you plan on coming here plan on it being an extended event. Ours contained a fairly large group and clocked in at a little over 4 hours. We had our own group of 13 but it was also lumped together with a few other tables as well(which were with the same company, but not party). The server, though I never got his name rolled with the punches as there were a lot of snafu's coming out of the kitchen and accommodated everyone the best of his ability. We were downstairs and literally took up the whole room. I am not sure how many times they have had to deal with a party this big, but I'm going to guess it has not been many times. With the overall group downstairs there were staff tripping over one another as it was next to the kitchen and a high volume of foot traffic was hard to deal with. The food throughout the night came out looking nothing short of beautiful. From the seafood tower, the apps, to the mains. I only can speak for my half of the table but there were multiple occasions where half were happy and half were not. The salads both the mixed green, and the caesar(which I had) were probably not the best representatives for fine dining. The mixed greens looked sad in their bowl and were very heavy on the dressing. The Caesar must have been sitting as it tasted wilted and soggy, the croutons were soft and easy to penetrate. Neither me nor my wife finished our salads. But who comes for salads, right? The seafood tower was on a level of its own. Lobster, crab claws, oysters, shrimp. TONS of seafood. All of it was amazing. My favorite was either the tiger prawns on top or the crab claw meat. I hate to say it but it made me forget about all the other apps that were on the table(which were good, but didn't compare to the tower). They are pictured so feel free to check them out. Now the mains. I went away from steak as I had it the night before at Hell's Kitchen. I selected the Chilean sea-bass with a lobster tail. My wife chose the 22oz ribeye. A lot of other people at our table chose steak as well. I will say they when my meal came out I picked right. The sea-bass was gigantic as well as the lobster tail. I was probably the happiest person at the table. Both were nothing short of amazing. My wife's ribeye on the other hand came out looking black(not medium rare). I did not snap a pic of the old one, but her refried steak came out looking amazing(also tasting that way as well). Dessert came out and all were satisfied except for the lone gentleman that ordered the berry dish. There were a few other meals that were sent back due to not being cooked right. A patron slipping on the wet floor by the kitchen. Overall a long pleasant experience. Our Server was fantastic, the meat and seafood were well worth the price. My dinner at the new Mastro's in Golden Nugget was like poetry in motion. The staff/management/chefs etc are trained so perfectly it was like a whirlwind of movement serving patrons yet not visible to diners. I did overhear a few things like "go left circle around I will meet you in back ( this was to Not Disturb diners) the food was Perfect. Sea Bass and sides were great. Decided to head to South Lake for the holiday and made reservations for Mastros. I had went a couple weeks prior and saw they had just opened. We got a lovely waitress who was from Argentina and treated us so well. From beginning to end. They had live music from this AMAZING artist Stephania I was so obsessed she had such a beautiful voice. I would go anywhere to see and hear her again. She sang such great songs also! I ordered gin dirty martini, and they bring you the shaker with remaining drink and it's definitely worth the price because it's like a 2 for 1. We went with the NY strip steak, and split it as they only had a 16 oz version. The broccolini and Caesar salad was great. They don't have the affogato on the dessert menu, but I asked if they could make one and surprisingly they said yes and I was beyond ecstatic lol. Amazing!!!! I've been to a lot of steakhouses and Mastros in other locations multiple times. I've had Double Eagle Steakhouse, CUT and others. This experience and meal surpassed all. Had the Goldin cocktail to start. It was amazing. Also ordered the bread which was incredible. The wedge salad was the best I've ever had. It was loaded with bacon and blue cheese and was a large salad. The American wagyu filet was outstanding. I've had snake river farms and this filet was better. Also I ordered the blue cheese sauce and fuggetaboutit. Phenomenal! The sides were great and to top it off the chocolate cake was superior. It was chocolate without being too rich. The whipped cream that was served with it was chilled and a perfect topping. Go, enjoy and if you get Marina as a server - you are being served by the best. Mastro's definitely went on my husbands and I, top 3 favorite steakhouse! We went to celebrate our anniversary, the ambience was romantic and a very calming vibe, everyone was so nice and kind! Especially Shondra!!! She is such a sweet girl, we loved her service! When i didn't like a wine I got she was very understanding and replaced it for something else I wanted. Overall the food was delicious! The portion size was great, the Mac n cheese is definitely shareable with 3 or 2 people! I got a New York strip and it was sooooo juicy and perfectly cooked to how I like it! Now the Mac n cheese was the best thing I've had and I'm not too much of a Mac n cheese person! Ugh so good! If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! Every single part of dinner was fantastic, from being warmly greeted upon checking in for our reservation through dinner service, all the way until the very end, including the voicemail they left the next day thanking us for coming in. We wanted to do something special for our 15 year anniversary and Mastro's did not disappoint! My husband & I both agreed that it was the best meal we've ever had - we ordered the wagyu beef roll, the 8oz filet, the 16oz New York strip, the 1 pound baked potato, the Mac n cheese, and the wild mushroom black truffle gnocchi. Everything was cooked perfectly and was insanely delicious, especially the gnocchi! Our server, Steven, was so kind and knowledgeable and during conversation we discovered that his wife was from Ventura County where we live - the manager, Mikey, came over and introduced himself and thanked us for dining with them. He then shared that he and his wife just moved from Ventura County and we actually lived in the same apartment complex at one point! Towards the end of dinner, staff came over and boxed up our leftovers (they were also amazing) and then out comes a surprise dessert tray sent over from Mikey! The butter cake was to dieee for! The fresh fruit was delicious, as was the homemade whipped cream and slice of chocolate cake! They also asked if we would like a copy of the menu, as we shared that we were celebrating 15 years together which was noted at the top of the menu. Visited the newly opened Mastro's inside Golden Nugget and while it was the same good and consistent flavor of Mastro's the set up of the tables in the restaurant was not good and created such a loud atmosphere along with some undesirable conversations and unacceptable situations. The atmosphere is just not the same as other Mastro's I'm used to. The food was great and the steak had great flavor as well. The service started out very rough and took about 18 mins to even get a menu and only after we told the host/'mgr I believe he may have been, that we hadn't been greeted or even been provided a menu. It then took another about 10 mins to get water. The uncomfortable situations were that the seating was so closely set together and the restaurant was so loud, people are literally yelling at each other to have conversations and some are not conversations I want to listen to. Additionally to get to go to the restroom, you literally rubbing up against people to get through all the tables. Servers were running into each other and other patrons and the servers were slow in getting to take care of their clients. This is not the ambiance I'm used to for such a classy restaurant. Additionally, I'm sure this creates uncomfortable situations for the servers as well. The venue is the smaller venue I've been too, and I know it's new, but surely need to redo the existing seating or expand to avoid this poor service. Overall, I will probably revisit again because I like Mastro's but if I walk up and the restaurant is full and have not reconfigured the seating, I would rather go elsewhere to avoid this initial experience again. Again the food is great as always with the steak cooked how I like it, but again the atmosphere took some away from the meal that I had to drop it two stars. Masters is one of our favorite restaurants. We have been to several locations in California. But we most frequent Matros ocean club in Newport Beach California. We were excited to see Mastro's in South Lake Tahoe, where we were vacationing. We walked in to have a drink and some dessert, of course the butter cake. The next day was my birthday so we made reservations for dinner. The manager Mikey was so accommodating and friendly. The restaurant turned out very nice. It's a smaller Astros but still Matros never fails. Also the service was absolutely phenomenal. Our server Chandra was a doll. Next time I'm in Lake Tahoe you better believe I will be back. We chose Mastro's for a very special occasion, celebrating our 21st anniversary and it just so happened to be their opening night as well. From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely 5-star. Dining out like this is a very rare treat for us, so the experience meant even more. We were escorted to our table, our chairs were pulled out for us, and we were warmly greeted right away by a young man who let us know our server would be with us shortly. Then came Andrea, our amazing and attentive server. She dotted every "i" and crossed every "t." Andrea answered all of our questions with such confidence and clarity that it made choosing our meal so much easier. She was professional, personable, and made us feel truly taken care of throughout the evening. At the end of our meal, Andrea surprised us with a special dessert delivered to our table. Such a simple gesture, but it made the experience that much more meaningful. We truly felt like we were in a 3 Star Michelin rated restaurant. We have experienced all the finer restaurants in South Lake and Mastro's blew them all away in all categories. The Service was impeccable, trained and managed by Mandy the staff really treats you like royalty. We had all the cuts if the Steak offered and spoiled ourselves with the Seafood Platter. Dude. Sooooo disappointed. I use Yelp often but rarely write reviews, negative or positive. Even short ones. But I save reviews for the experiences that blew me away, good or bad. This was the latter as I'm sure you can already tell. First off Mastro's Steakhouse is EXPENSIVE. Like REALLY expensive. Lake Tahoe North Shore wedding expensive. Like, STUPID expensive. But, I was good with that. I expected that. Second, my food was just OKAY. Overcooked 80 dollar filet with offered restitution of fifteen dollar key lime pie. To be fair, my husband says his bone in rib eye was the best steak he'd ever had. That's a high accolade, coming from him. My teenager said his filet was pretty good, OK I guess, heady praise from that one. BUT, the main disappointment was the atmosphere. Crowded, loud. Lots of rushing around. Servers AND patrons. A man and woman in a booth across the way, the man making odd, loud laughing noise. It was just weird... NOT what I was expecting. As for the patronage, there was a sign posted with a dress code when you walk in. No flip flops, no revealing clothing, no shorts, blah blah blah. Which I appreciate. Two hundred dollar petite servings of crab legs and no, I'd rather not look at Susan's tramp stamp and polyester lace bra. Fine at Coachella and Target, not at a five star restaurant. But there were flip flops and shorts, jeans (which can be fine if not ripped or sloppy) , t shirts and oh yeah, LOTS of little kids. By lots I mean five which doesn't sound like a lot but they were running and screaming throughout this tight, close-together restaurant, weaving in and out of servers with 400 degree ceramic steak plates. This equals out to a thousand relatively well behaved children, in my opinion. I usually don't mind screaming, wilding kids. It is their nature. I get it. But AGAIN, there's a time and a place. It's called the park. Or Disneyland. Even their home. I didn't live like that when my Kid was little, but no biggie, you do you. But Mastros? No thank you, never again. Not worth it. On the positive, the staff were VERY kind and attentive. Super sweet busboy. Couldn't have been happier with the service. The Appletini with dry ice was really yummy, fun, and a nice birthday throwback. To be fair, Our server was obviously embarrassed by the over done steak and lack of remedy other than a piece of pie. ( And it was my birthday, you'd think they'd kick down the pie, anyway. I mean seriously) But honestly, it was my fault I didn't send it back immediately. I should have. Fail on my part, gotta own it. Mastros is a very expensive restaurant with lots of brand recognition: it will be popular with wealthy Silicone valley tech entrepreneurs who will take their clients a couple times a year after a day of skiing Heavenly or boating on Lake Tahoe. Tax write-offs all around. I imagine it will thrive well-enough with that being the population it caters to, however without some major changes I doubt it will become locally loved. We were super hyped for this first experience at Mastro's at Lake Tahoe. Went last night and were totally disappointed. Restaurant was beautiful and busy. Waiter was way too much! Talking, talking, talking when all we wanted to do in this very expensive restaurant was enjoy our drinks for a bit before ordering. Felt very rushed and almost bothered. Finally ordered the lobster bisque for my husband. I ordered the Caesar salad. Although salad was fine my husband's bisque was cold. It took a bit for waiter to come back to the table and she said she would get a fresh bisque. She didn't. Bisque was sent back just warmed over. We had an incredible experience at Mastro's Lake Tahoe, the brand-new restaurant that had just opened inside the Golden Nugget Lake Tahoe Hotel & Casino We were celebrating a birthday and were pleasantly seated in a private dining room. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Every staff member treated us with genuine warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail. The Tomahawk steak and rack of lamb were absolutely outstanding -- perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. One of the highlights of the evening was the tableside service. Each guest was given a piping hot plate while a coordinated team of about six staff members surrounded us to carefully plated our meals and side dishes in front of us. The experience felt elegant, luxurious, and thoughtfully orchestrated, making us feel truly pampered throughout the evening. Overall, both the food and the service were impeccable. This is easily one of the best choices in South Lake Tahoe for an upscale romantic dinner or a special celebration. The staff goes above and beyond to create a memorable dining experience, and you genuinely feel cared for as a guest. What impressed us even more was that the hospitality did not end after we left the restaurant. Tried Mastro's last night......6 adults and 2 well behaved children. Welcoming smiles from the host station, escorted to our table in the beautiful and tastefully appointed dining room. Then the magic began. Ross and Zack introduced themselves, opened and decanter our wines took our cocktail orders and so our amazing experience began. Never have I experienced dinner service like this from the very competent bussers (you could tell they take training here seriously) to Zack always checking on our group (fun and informative watching him decant) to Ross who has to be the most professional and personable server I have probably ever experienced. Ross even made sure to include the kids in the whole process, giving them menus even though one of the kids can't read yet, to taking their drink orders as if they were adults ordering cocktails. It was so wonderful seeing the looks on the kids faces, as well as educating them in proper etiquette at a fine dining restaurant. We ordered probably half the items on the menu not realizing how large the shareables are. We were actually laughing at how these huge dishes just kept coming! We have been fans of Flemings Steakhouse for years, but Mastro's kitchen blows them out of the water. Absolutely hands down the most perfect filet I have ever tasted. I would be remiss in not mentioning the General Manager who introduced herself and made sure everything was going smoothly. I believe her first name began with an L.. Kudos to the gentleman playing the piano and singing, he has an absolutely stunning voice. As you can tell this was the most amazing fine dining experience any of our party has ever had.
