Center cut filet and baked potato. The potato was awesome, the filet mediocre. For the price I paid, definitely not worth it.

This steakhouse is conveniently located amongst the casinos in South Lake Tahoe, and is inside the Golden Nugget. I tried it twice, but I have been far from impressed. I wonder to myself how a steakhouse can serve non steakhouse quality. I ordered the center cut filet which is always tender. Mine was not such. I didn't complain but I probably should have. So, I gave them a try the next day and ordered the avocado toast, this is when I knew that they have no clue. Staff are nice but not too attentive. Place is clean, but when I spend the $$$ I expect good food. The food here does not live up to what anyone going to a steakhouse would expect.

Popped in for a quick drink. A little disappointed that the old fashion didn't have a large ice cube. But it was good. Nice seating at the bar or tables. Worth sitting outside if weather permits!

We were there on Saturday with they had special - prime rib. I ordered prime rib with mush potatoes on the side. We also got sauced mushrooms for the table it was delicious. Service was great. Luis did amazing job. He did above and beyond. Ambience is special. Worth trying

For dinner, we dined here since it's convenient and just in the hotel. I opted for the salmon oscar so i could share it with my toddler. It's lump crab meat with fried asparagus. We both enjoyed it. I also tried my husband's Pat's ribeye and it was really good. Our server, Zack was amazing. He kept checking in on us and made sure we were well taken care of. As for the ambiance, it was slightly dark inside so it gives off a cozy vibe. Although, we were seated near the kitchen and there was an exit door near us so it kinda kills the mood specially with how busy our table location was with all the people passing by.

This is inside the golden nugget hotel so we stopped here for dinner after a long day of skiing. The service was great, but the food was very salty. The portions were also huge so I couldn't finish haha. That salmon filet has gotta be the largest I've ever eaten. The fried asparagus was also very crispy and the perfect pairing with the fatty salmon. I also had their complimentary bread which was very delicious with the whipped butter. Their Paloma was also quite good although more on the bitter side of things. I tried the grand sangria and it was much sweeter and tastier. The prices were pretty high. The entrees all cost like 40-60 dollars. Our dinner at Riva Grill later cost about the same but the portion sizes were even larger.

if you're looking for steak, look no further! Saltgrass has a large menu and also serves breakfast! we came for dinner, and seated promptly. They started off with some complimentary bread for the table, which is always appreciated by us two. My gf and I were so happy to see the fried pickles on the menu,so we got them and they were fantastic. We ordered a ribeye steak to share and it came out to a perfect medium! With the price of beef going up, it's understandable why it was a little pricey. Definitely something I would order, once in a while. Other than that, the service was amazing and we would come back just for those fried pickles (the ranch was also nice, but on the watery side). The decor in the restaurant was also on par with the theme (western and historic) .

Don't waste your time going to the more expensive steak houses in South Lake! Boyfriend and I came here twice in one weekend during our trip. It's great!!!! They start you out with a roll of bread. We got the loaded fries to start, and the baked potato soup. The soup was delicious! For entrees, we got a Texas T-bone and a bone in ribeye. We also got a side of loaded mashed potatoes. They had cheese, sour cream, and bacon bits. Also ordered a side of broccoli. The steaks were topped with garlic butter. I wish the loaded potatoes were a bit hotter and my steak was medium rare (I asked for medium, better under cooked than over cooked!). Minor complaints. The second time we came back we decided to get a country fried steak. Might be better than the Texas T bone, for me! Our service was great. Recommended a good red wine for me. Also gave us an extra bowl of soup for free. The ambiance feels like you're in a midwestern country steakhouse.

It's a "steakhouse" located in a casino.... (today, located in the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino) Saltgrass Steakhouse is part of the Landry Restaurant Group. For those of you familiar with the Landry Restaurant Group, you might have expected something a little different but suffice to say it was simply "OK". Steak was ok. Tried their fried pickles... Well, you gotta like pickles if you want to like this dish. Ordered the Grilled Shrimp Add On to the steak... Alright it was decent. My dining partner and I sat at the bar. The tables and dining seating area reminded me of a coffee shop or cafe more than a steakhouse. But I won't judge; maybe it was the atmosphere they tried to project. Bartenders were nice. Food movers were nice. It was OK

Excellent steakhouse that serves great food but is more affordable and doesn't leave your wallet hurting than most higher end steakhouses today. They also validate parking at the Golden Nugget which helps. Everything was well seasoned, cooked perfectly to order, and the service was above and beyond. We were given the option to outdoors which we accepted to get some fresh air. The outdoor seating faces the street and casino entrance, and there's fire pits outside to help stay warm. Definitely worthy of a stop when craving steak in South Lake Tahoe.

We were looking for a convenient breakfast spot and decided to try this restaurant since it's located in our hotel- the Golden Nugget. The space itself is nice with plenty of seating, so we were surprised by the wait--especially since it wasn't very busy at the time. The menu offers a solid variety of classic breakfast and comfort food options. We ordered the pancakes and eggs platter with bacon, which came with a side of biscuits and country potatoes. Unfortunately, the food was just average. For the price, I expected more in terms of flavor and portion size. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but I don't see myself coming back--at least not for breakfast. Maybe dinner is a different story, but next time, I'll likely head across the street to the Lucky Beaver instead.

Excellent food we had the soup du jour and it was fabulous cream of potato! Wonderful chicken ceasar salad and fried mushrooms! Great bartender and beers on tap

Came here on a Sunday night and was told 15 minute wait. They took our number and we walked around the casino. After 15 minutes passed, we went back to see if they were ready and they were seating people who came after us...and we never got a call or text...ok. They put us in a nice booth where we sat for at least 10 minutes until they brought water. Our waiter looked less than interested in his job...almost like we were an inconvenience... ok. Hub ordered the chicken breast meal that comes with one side for 25.49 and I ordered the 8 ounce sirloin for 28.99. No bread came to the table...this is a first from any Saltgrass I have been to before, but figured it is just another cut due to inflation. We both got our dinners and they were small for this price point...at least we did not arrive too hungry. As we started eating the waiter explained to the table behind me that you have to request bread to get it. This is mentioned nowhere on the menu and was not briefed by our waiter....I find this to be very poor business practice! The two stars are for the food. The food was quite good...but WAY too expensive.....go to the Lucky Beaver and get a lot more. the waiter did a "how is everything?"question without even stopping at the table...a total drive by....only interested in the bigger table of people behind us. Find anywhere else to eat dinner....hopefully this place will go the way of the Dodo.

We stopped for a light dinner at Saltgrass since we were staying at the Golden Nugget in South Lake Tahoe. We had a great experience and the food was very, very good. We ordered wine by the glass. Krug chardonnay. The restaurant has a well curated selection of good wines at decent prices. It doesn't feel off putting. It's hard to imagine a bad glass from this list. We ordered the mushrooms as an appetizer, and I totally forgot to take a photo. We received a HUGE portion of battered and fried mushrooms which were delicious!! Wow is all I have to say. If you like fried mushrooms, these are a must. After that, we decided to split a smaller entree. We chose the chicken tenders. These seemed hand battered and had good flavor. I especially loved the honey mustard dipping sauce. This dish came with one side and I let hubs choose. Unbelievably, it was broccoli. (I guess even he thinks a green thing is good sometimes) The broccoli was steamed perfectly... Crisp/tender. Our server was great and the kitchen staff stopped by to ask about food quality as well. I would definitely return to Saltgrass. I saw another outpost of this restaurant in galveston a while back and now I'm sad I didn't go to that one....

I had the Gambler Steak Burger with garlic parmesan fries. My brother got the Blackened Salmon Ceasar Salad. I was surprised when the waiter said "good choice the salmon here is delicious". They have wild caught king salmon delivered twice a week. We split our food. The salmon was as good or better than any piece of salmon I have ever had. It melted in your mouth. My burger was cooked medium to perfection. Super juicey and delicious. Among the best burgers I have ever had no joke; they grind their own meat. The hand cut fries were really good too. Service is friendly and attentive. Great beer selection and plenty of TVs to catch the game you are after. We liked it so much that we went back and ordered the same dishes the next day and they were perfect again. They passed the consistency test. Yes two days in a row; thats how good it was. I looked at the bad reviews and it must have been off days for those bad experiences.

They probably use corn starch instead of flour, because they aren't overly breaded. Shoutout to the prep workers there (whatup Zoe!), because the food is like crazy good, hot, and fast. For most of the food, they have this insane rotating grill that you can see from the street. Super cool operation Steak salad is a must as well. It's so refreshing! It's got a balsamic dressing, some bleu cheese, and either raisin or dried cranberry and maybe walnuts. I don't actually know because I shovel it down my throat lol. Burgers are the best in the area. Even their less popular items are very well done. Recently got a sausage and peppers sandwich that was as good as what I routinely make at home. Atmosphere is amazing. All the employees go above and beyond. I usually sit at the bar and play any of their video gambles. You win some, you tip extra, you leave happy. You lose some and get some beers on the house. I'll go there if I go to Nevada beaches, or if I want to catch a game. South Lake resident and I generally avoid stateline for it's crowds but I'll head up to Lucky Beaver just for the food. I'm assuming they do PPV MMA fights which is another excuse to show up going forward Shoutout to Bruno as well. Awesome bartender. There's also a few awesome gals who's names escape me at the moment. It's a super chill place while having a great vibe and energy The other patrons are just fun people, it's easy to have a conversation with the guy sitting next to you. It's a well known place but I think it's still a hidden gem amongst all that chaos lol. For a 24 hour place, it's very chill. Never had a bad experience. It's good for hanging out with friends but I wouldn't hesitate bringing my nieces and nephews and whole family there. Only critique is parking. They don't comp it, but all parking is paid now at the casinos, so it's no surprise, that's just the standard.. I think if you get in and out in less than an hour parking is free, so keep that in mind. You can also park further away at other free parking areas and walk.

We arrived at 5pm for their Early Bird Special, and were warmly greeted at the door by Frank, their elegant and gracious GM. Jeremy, our friendly and prompt waiter, seated us at a table that featured a 180 degree view of the lake while Carlos provided backup with huge smiles and the most pleasant demeanor imaginable. Amazing service, easily some of the best I've experienced. The Early Bird Special includes a soup or salad and a dessert with an entree, making it one of the best deals on the lake. My wife had an AMAZING butternut squash soup (a special that night), while I had a classic Caesar salad with anchovies on the side. I ordered the prime rib which arrived a perfect medium rare and full of flavor with the charred edges I adore, while my wife's Chilean sea bass had a fantastic tajin seasoning that highlighted the crust of the fish that enveloped the moist, meltingly delicious meat underneath. For dessert we had the huckleberry gelato and an oven-crisp crème brûlée. Do yourself and favor and join Frank and his team for dinner on the lake. If you're looking for a nice steak dinner, we much prefer Friday's Station across the street, which is also owned by Caesars Entertainment. In our experience, the food at Sage Room has always been underwhelming, especially considering the prices and the fact that it's supposed to be a more upscale dining experience. What really disappointed me this visit was the filet. It arrived with unusual char marks on top that looked almost decorative, but another filet at our table didn't have the same markings. The texture was awful--it reminded me of one of those "meat glue" filets made by binding smaller pieces of beef together instead of serving a whole cut. Whether it actually was or not, that's exactly how it looked and tasted to me. It was also chewy and overcooked, making it one of the worst filets I've had, especially at this price point. The rest of the food was okay, but nothing stood out or justified the cost. I will say the service was good. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout the meal, so no complaints there. Overall, we won't be returning. If you're going to spend this kind of money, I'd recommend going across the street to Friday's Station instead. We've had much better experiences there.

The Seafood Plateau was incredible with King Crab Legs, Jumbo Prawns, Mussels, Lobster Tail, Ahi Tuna Poke, and Salmon Poke. It was a tad spendy, but since it's shareable for 4-5, I'd say it's worth it and would definitely order again next time. We also had the Crab Cake, two sizeable patties -- a little bit more flavorful and larger than your typical Crab Cake. The Grilled Broccolini was good, but typical. Lastly, for appetizers, the Crispy Pork Belly was also a hit -- although I did not get a taste as it is smaller and not so much shareable. The pièce de résistance was the Tomahawk Steak. Cooked perfectly medium-rare and served with Chimichurri and Au Poivre sauces on the side. The steak was very flavorful without any sauce, IMO. Served with Grilled Asparagus and Lobster Mac & Cheese. We started with a martini and an Old Fashioned before ordering the Grilled Branzino and the famous Beef Wellington. For sides, we shared the Potato Purée and the Roasted Brussels Sprouts. To top it all off, the staff surprised us with ice cream for a birthday dessert. The Branzino was perfectly cooked, fresh, and flavorful, and the Beef Wellington absolutely lived up to the hype. It was cooked to a perfect medium with a tender filet and flaky pastry. The Potato Purée was rich and creamy. The Brussels Sprouts were good, but they weren't our favorite side. While I usually enjoy anything pickled, chili glaze, and cilantro individually, the combination of those flavors just didn't quite work for my taste. After first seeing the Amuse Bouche, one might presume an evening of tiny, expensive bites -- leaving one hungry afterwards. Please know that couldn't be further from the truth here. Each course was its own little world. The variety of flavors from each course was interesting, yet perfect together -- moving from seafood to lamb to beef. The Lamb Lollipops with Tomato Jam were simply the best lamb I have ever enjoyed in my entire life. It was moist and flavorful even without either of the sauces. I think they may have ruined lamb for me, because wherever I go from now on, their lamb will be compared to HK, and most certainly lose out. I can just hear it now, "Nope, Hell's Kitchen lamb was better." Now, the Mini Beef Wellington was special, as well. Between the puff pastry and the beef is a thin layer of what I can only describe as mushroom purée. It is wonderful and adds something to the puff pastry that is unique. It's another dish that may be tough to beat, as well. Lastly, the Individual Sticky Toffee Pudding was not what I was expecting from the name, but it, too, was a hit with the entire party. Bo Young was a fantastic server -- very attentive and informative regarding each course. The ambiance was a casual elegance, fitting for such a fine meal. We simply can't wait to return.

Both the mushrooms and the "Anna Potato" side seemed not fresh--not stale, but not fresh--as though they'd been frozen, stored incorrectly, and then re-baked. The red wine reduction sauce tasted like canned beef gravy with mushrooms added. It was probably fortified with a concentrated base of some kind--a dry bouillon, commercial stock, or paste. Whatever the explanation, it was not good. The "rack of lamb" was served separated--in other words, they were lamb chops. Their flavor was acceptable but bland, in my opinion. The service was rushed and joyless. Were it not for the windows-are-for-sale practice, I might be inclined to give it another shot but the multiple flaws in the execution tip the scale. There are too many great restaurant options in this area. I'll pursue one of those next time.
