It's crazy to see that (at the time of this review) this place only has a 3.9 star rating. By far, some of the best NY Strip and Prime Rib I have ever had. The blue cheese butter is a must! The swordfish and calamari were delicious as well. And the chocolate lava cake.... I'd order 3 more if my body could handle it (also it takes a while for preparation, so make sure to order early.) Serving sizes are huge and great to share with parties of 5. Customer service is amazing too. David is a very friendly and fun employee. We should have known better going on Mother's Day. Very disappointing entrees, my NY steak was tough and tasteless and my wife's Chilean Sea bass was very salty. Driven past this place multiple times but finally got the chance to eat here for a business meeting. They had a set menu we could choose from. Started with Cesar salad. I was a bit concerned with some of the reviews, but after our dining experience, Id definitely return and recommend to friends and family. Our server Megan was the sweetest, kindest most attentive staff member and really helped make our evening special. The front of house staff a young woman with dark hair was very welcoming and the view of the lake was phenomenal. My boyfriend got the prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes and I got the chicken sous vide with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus, we also opted to start off with coconut shrimp and lobster bisque. I came here with a group of 6 for dinner on vacation. We made an 8pm reservation on a Saturday night and there was absolutely no wait time to get seated. Our table was very crammed and not sturdy as the extension pieces on the top were loose. The ambiance is cute, dress up or down and I'm sure it's a lovely view when it's still light out. The hostess really did not want to give us a window table despite several being available, so we sat in a booth on the second level. (Still had a nice view, but...) Wow! At 4:30pm on a Saturday, this place was packed! Glad I booked this instead of the 7:45pm available on OpenTable so we could see the sun set over the lake. What a view! We started off with a couple libations: the torched apple Manhattan and the butterfly effect, made tableside which had all the bells and whistles. At $26 and $20 respectively, they better bring it. 4/5 Four of the mussels in our starter were shut tight indicating there could be better quality control in the kitchen. In retrospect, some were a bit off tasting too. 2.5/5 The crispy ahi bites cleared our sinuses with the raw jalapeño and the wasabi sauce. The presentation was very nice and we enjoyed this after getting over the spicy shock. 4/5 My prime rib was well marbled throughout and cooked a perfect medium rare. The accompanying mashed potatoes were also good. 4/5 The side of sautéed mushrooms was superb! I would definitely go with the large next time. 5/5 My fiancé got the sea bass which was a very good sized portion with the addition of the lobster risotto. Our group ordered everything from steaks to pasta and fish, everyone was happy with their meals- was it the best steak -no, but it was good for a steak. I had the beet salad and cod, the salad was very different from your average beet salad and was very tasty. The cod- was very different from the regular miso cod dishes I've had- truthfully I should have known better then to order a "Asian inspired " meal from Chart house- it wasn't bad but I wouldn't get it again. We also had to send back the shrimp and lobster carbonara because it had no flavor whatsoever. Definitely not worth the price tag. The food overall was basic and lacked presentation. My steak was decent but came with just a scoop of mashed potatoes--no vegetables, no garnish, nothing memorable. When I ordered a lemon drop, the server didn't even ask what kind of vodka I wanted, which tells me it was likely a cheap house pour. Would we come back? I hate to say this but this was our worst visit to Chart House. We have been coming to this restaurant for many years and this time was a disappointment especially on Mothers Day. My wife ordered the steak medium well and I ordered the prime rib medium. When the food arrived my prime rib was just a little warm and the potatoes were a little cold, my wife's steak was seared just a little but raw on the inside through out. I ordered the prime rib, as did the rest of the table, and it came as just a slice of meat on a white plate with a small dollop of mashed potatoes (literally a dollop). We also ordered a side of lobster tail, which was simply that: a tail cut in half on yet another plain white plate. For the price, I'd say save your money. Honestly, you'd be better off visiting grandma or waiting until the holidays to see the dreaded in-laws. The only saving grace was the service. I will say, it's a nice place to go for any celebrations. Mountain View's were nice and staff went above and beyond by preparing a custom menu that read "Happy Anniversary". We love to head up here for special occasions like tonight's anniversary dinner celebration. We had such a nice relaxing meal looking out at that epic mountain side view of Lake Tahoe. Their happy hour during the week is amazing and we often hit that, but tonight we decided to sit in the main dining room for our special date night. The service was great and Megan took great care of our table; was quick with a smile or good suggestion! The two customizations I made this trip was the cocktail made of grey goose vodka and muddled raspberries & blueberries with soda. Will definitely make these at home and order out in the future! The oysters had a worm in it that was wiggling around. I'm surprised they missed this when shucking and feel quality control is not there as there was a hole in the shell. I was so grossed out. The waitress took the oysters away but didn't seem too bothered by it like it was a regular occurrence. My swordfish had good sauce but the fish was dry. The prime rib was good. Pomegranate mojito was yummy. For happy hour food we tried chicken lettuce wraps, coconut shrimp, burger sliders, and spinach artichoke dip. Highly recommend the chicken lettuce wraps. My partner was a fan of the coconut shrimp. Sliders were good but not great imo. Spinach artichoke dip had solid flavor. Service was excellent. Happy hour is very busy here and they did a great job keeping everyone happy. Looking around it seemed like the fish tacos appetizer was a crowd favorite but we did not get to try.
