Wow! At 4:30pm on a Saturday, this place was packed! Glad I booked this instead of the 7:45pm available on OpenTable so we could see the sun set over the lake. What a view! We started off with a couple libations: the torched apple Manhattan and the butterfly effect, made tableside which had all the bells and whistles. At $26 and $20 respectively, they better bring it. 4/5 Four of the mussels in our starter were shut tight indicating there could be better quality control in the kitchen. In retrospect, some were a bit off tasting too. 2.5/5 The crispy ahi bites cleared our sinuses with the raw jalapeño and the wasabi sauce. The presentation was very nice and we enjoyed this after getting over the spicy shock. 4/5 My prime rib was well marbled throughout and cooked a perfect medium rare. The accompanying mashed potatoes were also good. 4/5 The side of sautéed mushrooms was superb! I would definitely go with the large next time. 5/5 My fiancé got the sea bass which was a very good sized portion with the addition of the lobster risotto. Cooked well, a very rich decadent dish. 4/5 Our service was very good. We were checked in on server times by several staff snd left wanting nothing. Every time I come to the Chart house, it is an enjoyable and excellent culinary experience, the last one being equally as good

We came in for a group dinner on a Thursday night - the service was lovely and kind although I will say food did take a while to come out (we were a larger group of 10). Our group ordered everything from steaks to pasta and fish, everyone was happy with their meals- was it the best steak -no, but it was good for a steak. I had the beet salad and cod, the salad was very different from your average beet salad and was very tasty. The cod- was very different from the regular miso cod dishes I've had- truthfully I should have known better then to order a "Asian inspired " meal from Chart house- it wasn't bad but I wouldn't get it again. We had the chocolate sticky cake for dessert and that was as good as they say it is! read more

Maybe I'm nostalgic. Maybe it's because I worked here 25 years ago before Landy's took over and only visit when I can, but this place has held a special place in my heart for over two decades and, like this trip, I always try to bring friends to visit Chart House. As a vegetarian I am well aware my options will be limited but I still bring friends and family for the Chart House experience. Unfortunately, this last visit was underwhelming. We had a 5:30 reservation and didn't get seated until 5:55. No problem, I've worked here and other places and understand seating, but to have no one even address us with a simple 'sorry for the wait' is the first indicator of the experience we were about to receive. We were visiting for a wedding which happened to correspond with our good friend's anniversary. I went out of my way to invite them to CH based upon the high standard I had been accustomed to. The food was adequate and we enjoyed our time amongst good company. However, the price point was not on par with the service one would expect for a $100/person meal. We had multiple courses and the server removed silverware without replacement. At one point the server wiped the table off with his hand to remove salt and pepper (weirdly no crumber) and was clearly disappointed that we didn't order drinks pre-meal. I would never expect anything for free but they didn't even acknowledge our friend's anniversary after the online reservation specifically asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. No problem, just don't ask. Again, despite all this the meal itself was tasty, we ordered the premade lava cake and post-meal cocktails. Maybe it's been a couple years, but the lava cake was not the soufflé I'd grown accustomed to and tasted more like an Applebees or Chilis contribution. Still, not a bad experience but then the bill came with some sort of push to join the Landry group for future benefits. We politely let the server know we live in area far from any Landy's restaurant and he tried to sell us further on how many locations were within their range. We were already wavering on our experience, but to hear a sales pitch after the meal felt transactional at best. If our $400 wasn't enough maybe it's time we look somewhere else, This place used to be special. Now it feels average. read more

They started us off with bread, which tasted like bagged, two-day-old bread nothing special. We ordered oysters to start, but they were clearly pre-frozen: watery, fishy, and not fresh at all. We also had to send back the shrimp and lobster carbonara because it had no flavor whatsoever. Definitely not worth the price tag. The food overall was basic and lacked presentation. My steak was decent but came with just a scoop of mashed potatoes--no vegetables, no garnish, nothing memorable. When I ordered a lemon drop, the server didn't even ask what kind of vodka I wanted, which tells me it was likely a cheap house pour. Would we come back? A nice upscale option. I'm assuming people come primarily for the view. Our concierge got us a 6:15 reservation so that we would have a prime sunset view. The hostess really did not want to give us a window table despite several being available, so we sat in a booth on the second level. (Still had a nice view, but...) I ordered the prime rib, as did the rest of the table, and it came as just a slice of meat on a white plate with a small dollop of mashed potatoes (literally a dollop). We also ordered a side of lobster tail, which was simply that: a tail cut in half on yet another plain white plate. For the price, I'd say save your money. Honestly, you'd be better off visiting grandma or waiting until the holidays to see the dreaded in-laws. The only saving grace was the service. If you've paid attention you know I've made a few remarks regarding the below average food and service industry at Lake Tahoe...sometimes they say on "Island Time" or just "High Times." But not at Chart House which was exceptional and one of the best dinners for my 2024! Rolled into Chart House tonight with Mrs G, who by the way was dressed to impress at that high 10 point level. We were sat for our reservation at a requested booth as the sun was setting. Wow the restaurant is a beautiful place. Large windows overlooking tree lined Lake Tahoe. Gabe our server came over with a smile hitting those water glasses. Looking at the menu I knew I needed the black fettuccine, with shrimp and scallops! Done deal. Gabe hit the table with some amazing breads and through conversation we learned Chart House has a full Gluten Free menu for Mrs G! Nice. Mrs G. ordered up a blackened salmon and a side of mushrooms. Got some real tasty mocktails also. The blood orange drink was amazing tasty! The food was plated and delivered in no time. While eating I was speechless...amazing seafood dinner. We love to head up here for special occasions like tonight's anniversary dinner celebration. We had such a nice relaxing meal looking out at that epic mountain side view of Lake Tahoe. Their happy hour during the week is amazing and we often hit that, but tonight we decided to sit in the main dining room for our special date night. The service was great and Megan took great care of our table; was quick with a smile or good suggestion! The two customizations I made this trip was the cocktail made of grey goose vodka and muddled raspberries & blueberries with soda. Will definitely make these at home and order out in the future! Stopped here for a Tuesday happy hour this past week, and I expected a whole lot more , a very mid experience. Drinks took 20 minutes. 3 appetizers off happy hour menu took 45 minutes . Food served ( by very good staff) looked anemic and gross and sloppy - I have ordered the same thing before and it looks very different from the shiz show tonight: cold fried Avacado ? My boyfriend and I came to Chart House to celebrate my 30th birthday this past Saturday night and we had such an incredible experience! We made reservations for dinner to begin right before sunset so we could enjoy the view, and I'm so glad that we did. The view was STUNNING! Pictures do not do it justice. We were in awe the entire evening! Aside from the great view, both the service we received and the food was impeccable. Adrian was our server. He was very knowledgeable and attentive! We loved the food. We ordered the crab cake, whipped ricotta meatballs, filet mignon, prime rib with truffle butter, lobster tail, and cheesecake. Our expectations were truly exceeded! My family loved the happy hour and said I had to try it, but there were no gluten free options on the happy hour menu. I chose not to indulge and got a peach palmer to drink, but the peach syrup was very heavy (non-alcoholic). Our server was knowledgeable on gluten free options but my family did share they made a face when I said I wouldn't be eating. My partner thought the food was pretty basic but we didn't order anything off of happy hour. The interior was beautiful and the scenery as well, and my family still liked the food, mainly because of the happy hour price. It'd be nice to return and order off the main menu, but after that experience, I didn't know if it was worth it to return. This was my 3rd time visiting this Chart House and the first 2 times I did regular dining and had a delicious steak and a delicious seafood pasta. This time we tried the happy hour menu. Pomegranate mojito was yummy. For happy hour food we tried chicken lettuce wraps, coconut shrimp, burger sliders, and spinach artichoke dip. Highly recommend the chicken lettuce wraps. My partner was a fan of the coconut shrimp. Sliders were good but not great imo. Spinach artichoke dip had solid flavor. Service was excellent. Happy hour is very busy here and they did a great job keeping everyone happy. Looking around it seemed like the fish tacos appetizer was a crowd favorite but we did not get to try. Oh well. We've been here four times. Each time on the gala night of our vacation stay in Lake Tahoe. It really is a beautiful icing on the cake of a wonderful vacation. In the same way we have never had a bad winter holiday in Lake Tahoe, we've always had a superb time at the Chart House. This time, however, we came with the whole family in tow instead of the usual two. And the place impressed us all, even one of the group who is a restaurateur. As expected of a fine dining restaurant, reservations are a must. The place fills out quickly. Fortunately, the online system is absolutely efficient and we're able to accommodate our party of six with a two-day notice. Arriving at the Chart House, we were seated immediately, a beautiful window table overlooking the luscious gardens. Despite the restaurant, being extremely busy, we felt ample and unbothered by the crowd, a beautiful ambiance that is a treat mark of the place. Our waitstaff was extremely attentive and obviously well trained. He was there when we needed him and he was not when we didn't need him. I will say that our water glass was kept full for our entire stay. We started the fairer with an appetizer comprising of a stack of shrimp, mango and avocado - Superb. And the kimchi calamari was out of this world. The Lobster Bisque and Spinach salads came afterwards, along with some delicious fresh baked bread, followed by entrees such as Sea Bass with Lobster Risotto, a 10-oz Prime Rib, Lamb Chops, and a Shrimp Linguine, among others. Every plate was as good as the next. There was a plethora of accompaniments such as Broccoli Rabe, Creamed Spinach and delicately steamed asparagus. Washing it down with three bottles of good Napa wines. We really had little room for dessert, but each had a little of a delicious Crème Brûlée and a couple of their delicious sorbet. Celebrating a birthday, they provided special menus with Happy Birthday personalized. For appetizer we had the chilled prawns cocktail. They were large and nice with the cocktail sauce with a nice spicy kick. For dinner, the kids had the burger with fries, which was a regular size burger that was at least a third inch thick. Our three entrees were 1) Shrimp and Lobster carbonara. The flavor was excellent, nice and creamy with 4 medium size prawns, plenty of prosciutto and peas, but I could not see but one noticeable piece of lobster the size of a pea. I guess it was minced very small, but not able to catch any of the flavor. 2) the CHEF'S FEATURE SOLE ON FIRE crab stuffed sole | cedar smoked sautéed vegetables I citrus shallot butter $32 (863 cal.) it looked delicious and the table side preparation was very nice. 3) the 3-course Chart Your Course. My son selected the Caesar Salad, Prime Rib with mashed potatoes. He enjoyed it and said it was very good. We also had their delicious award winning clam chowder, nice and thick, rich with flavor and tender clams. The service is always top notch as well as the ambiance. Beautiful view through the forest trees toward the lake with beautiful sunsets. There is adequate parking, but can be challenging when they are busy. I made the reservation for my sister's Bachelorette party dinner. We were so excited to attend. First, the hostess sat another Bachelorette party before us. When we approached the hostess said they called our party's name but the name was never called and our table was taken! Second, it took 30 minutes to get our table and another 30 minutes to get our cocktails. Third, we were given a different menu that had a different wine selection. After asking twice about the wine, the waiter stated that he did not have help in his section and misread the wine we selected. Fourth, the food arrived 45 minutes after our appetizers were finished. I enjoyed the prime rib- cooked perfectly- and he had the swordfish as they were out of the cod.... But the chef did the same presentation on the swordfish and bday boy said it was the best swordfish he's ever enjoyed. So big win. Only problem- dessert- lava cake was over cooked- so no lava.... My son was amongst the many teens visiting Tahoe for 4th of July. I understand the crowds of teens may have been overwhelming for locals and businesses were under duress with the influx of younger people with limited funds. My son and his friends decided to take some of their graduation money and treat themselves to a nice meal. I can only hope that their party of four showed respect to the waitress as I have seen them do on many occasions. I know there are always two sides to each story. The boys requested A-1 sauce for their steaks twice. It was never brought to them. My son was given the option of "lobster bisque or clam chowder". He selected lobster bisque only to see on the bill that it was a $15 additional charge to his meal. This was not communicated. One boy's credit card was run before the remainder of the bill was paid in cash by the other boys. The waitress returned to the table with the slip and told them all "It is extremely rude to tip below 15-20% on your meal. I know you are all poor college kids but you need to know that's not acceptable". He double checked the slip to be sure that his 18% tip was correct. It was. The two mistakes she made during service would NOT have been a big deal. The fact that she verbally reprimanded them for an 18% tip (the others had not left their tip yet- this was only 1/4 of the bill), was really insulting to them and definitely put a damper on what was supposed to be a special night out for them. read more

Perfect place to enjoy a drink, and the espresso martinis did not disappoint, smooth, well-balanced, and probably the best thing we ordered. The mussels were also delicious: fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. Service was... fine. Nothing terrible, nothing memorable. Unfortunately, the steaks really missed the mark, especially for the price point. They lacked flavor, and the texture made them feel reheated rather than freshly cooked. The char marks on the steaks also looked old, which didn't help the overall impression. For what they charge, I expected much better quality and execution.
