    Shrimp, Avocado + Mango Stack
    Jason H.

Warmly greeted and seated within reason of our reservation time. However, it seems Chart House has continued its downward slide. The meal started out well with a very nice shareable Shrimp, Avocado + Mango Stack. But my starter, the Caesar Salad, was bland and unremarkable. It was more like a prepackaged salad from Costco. It was lacking enough dressing, cheese and any seasoning -- and anchovies would have been nice for the price. My entree was uniquely spicy for salmon and the entire entree on the small side. It was flavorful and cooked to perfection, however. The Mini Lava Cake would have been a nice way to finish to the evening, but by the time was got utensils to eat it, the ice cream was melted on all three and fell off the top of the cake. Annoyingly, someone in our party had to ask for utensils after each course. Perhaps they were overwhelmed with it being Father's Day. Which reminds me, I booked my reservation months ago. Chart House called me a few days prior to advise me that it was a Holiday Menu only, and asked, "Is that okay or would you like to cancel your reservation?" I don't think that will be a concern going forward.

Breathtaking views. Nice spacious restaurant. It's always a great experience here. The service from Amy was great...she was smiling and optimistic, fast, attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu. In fact she was so prompt that it was the quickest steakhouse dinner we have ever had. The new twist on the Caesar since our last visit was a pleasant surprise. Steak was a little overcooked but still delicious and fish was cooked perfectly. Table side espresso soufflé martini was fun to watch and a light, sweet, smooth cocktail.

It's crazy to see that (at the time of this review) this place only has a 3.9 star rating. By far, some of the best NY Strip and Prime Rib I have ever had. The blue cheese butter is a must! The swordfish and calamari were delicious as well. And the chocolate lava cake.... I'd order 3 more if my body could handle it (also it takes a while for preparation, so make sure to order early.) Serving sizes are huge and great to share with parties of 5. Customer service is amazing too. David is a very friendly and fun employee. Thanks for dealing with our shenanigans and obnoxious jokes haha. Also if you're lucky to have a table right by the windows, the sight is beautiful as well, especially during sunset. I definitely see myself coming back here multiple times, just gotta save up a little bit because it sure isn't cheap haha.

Driven past this place multiple times but finally got the chance to eat here for a business meeting. They had a set menu we could choose from. Started with Cesar salad. I got prime rib with mashed potatoes and my friend for the Baja salmon with shrimp and rice. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Got creme brulee and cheesecake for dessert. It said it was supposed to be served with raspberries but they ran out so they gave us a side of blackberries instead. Service was great! Would eat here again

We come for their happy hour every time we come to south lake tahoe. Food is great and reasonably priced. Happy hour is 4-6 but you can't make a rez and is only offered in a limited space. If you want the tables with a view during sunset you have to get there before 4!

We've been going to this location for many years and I have to say that they were either having an off day or their quality has taken a deep dive. Our food lacked luster. The prime rib was warmed over (definitely wouldn't expect that from this location). My husbands pasta sauce was flavorless as was the salad dressing. Our server wasn't attentive so we never ordered our second drink. Barely came to check on us, the service was slow and we had to box our own leftovers. We never saw a manager that night. Not sure if the views are worth the food anymore.

Parking can get tough on busy nights. We grabbed a spot in the lower lot. Happily we had a reservation. Wait staff was efficient and friendly. We had the halibut which received rave reviews. Two in our party had the filet mignon. I sampled a taste and the meat was perfectly cooked. I had the lamb chops which were ample and delicious. Was hoping for a lake view as requested. Unfortunately with the rush of patrons we ended up in a tucked away alcove. Delicious happy hour is served only in the bar area. We've done this on previous visits and they have lots of tasty bites.

It's a nice restaurant, went on a Wednesday at 6pm, they seated us near the window (not against the window), so still a nice view, until the sun came shining on my face! Needed to scoot myself over to avoid it! Food was generally OK. I had the 10oz prime rib, medium rare. It looked like it was cooked just right, just expected it to be a little more tender. Hubby had blackened salmon and loaded potato, he thought both were just OK. What was really delicious was the side order of Asian green beans! And, finally, we also enjoyed the chocolate lava cake. Our server, Tess, was great. We had $90 of gift cards from a timeshare presentation to use, just needed to kick in a little mor

This is a fine dining restaurant with a view of Lake Tahoe. The staff, especially our server, Allyjah, we're all so friendly and professional. All the food selections were exceptional and well prepared.

Don't get me wrong for giving it a 3, but I think customer service is poor given that it is a fine restaurant with a great view of the lake and potentially the sunset if you get lucky to be seated in front, or by the glass window. We didn't have any uncomfortable experience. However, people at the front desk are quite snobbish. From my perspective, as a customer, I would always want to feel welcomed. Our server, Ms. Lani is a nice lady but I cannot say the same thing for the rest. I understand that it is busy but I don't think that should be a reasonable excuse since this is a food business. Additionally, the food isn't that great either. My fillet mignon steak (medium rare) was dry. The drinks tasted bland and sugary to the point that you could not taste even an inch of the alcohol. Bathroom is clean and the restaurant's atmosphere is intimate. Complimentary bread*

I was a bit concerned with some of the reviews, but after our dining experience, Id definitely return and recommend to friends and family. Our server Megan was the sweetest, kindest most attentive staff member and really helped make our evening special. The front of house staff a young woman with dark hair was very welcoming and the view of the lake was phenomenal. My boyfriend got the prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes and I got the chicken sous vide with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus, we also opted to start off with coconut shrimp and lobster bisque. We finished with the lava cake and they gave him a complimentary mudslide ice cream cake for his birthday, we shared our desserts and they were both incredible. Overall a lovely dining experience with top notch atmosphere, service and food. We will most definitely be back.

Visited at 7:45 on a Tuesday without a reservation. Stood at the hostess stand for 5 minutes or so with no acknowledgment. Started wandering around looking for an employee or to sit in the bar. Bar was untended. Got a server to seat us. Super nice server, food was good. Spinach salad was delicious as was the clam chowder. I had the coconut shrimp hubby had the miso black cod. The mojito sampler was terrible. Too much syrup, no crushed ice, no soda water, mint or garnish. The Basil Yuzo and Chocolate Soufflé drinks were yummy.

I came here with a group of 6 for dinner on vacation. We made an 8pm reservation on a Saturday night and there was absolutely no wait time to get seated. Our table was very crammed and not sturdy as the extension pieces on the top were loose. The ambiance is cute, dress up or down and I'm sure it's a lovely view when it's still light out. The food itself was amazing, though is was cold when it came out. Our waitress Megan was so kind to switch my dish out to a fresh one, which I appreciated. I'd definitely come back for a regular dinner next time I'm in Tahoe.

We were seated at a booth by the window. I enjoyed the creamy ravioli. Good amount of lobster flavor. The salad I adored cuz of the anchovies. I loved the creamy, salty, briny dressing with the crisp lettuce. The escargots were tasty. Tho I prefer to soak up the delicious butter with a crusty french bread vs the focaccia like one we got here. But it's an italian spot, so understandable. My seafood pasta, I enjoyed the flavors, but it was sandy. Not overly so, but enough to affect the texture of the sauce a bit. Maybe I should have complained, but I didn't. The hubs seemed to enjoy his calamari steak. Seemed very standard with a citrus caper sauce. Service was good. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The decor is kinda mixed. There is a section that has that white table cloth vibe. Well, they actually have white tablecloths. And then a row of booths along the window without tablecloths. I prefered where we were sitting since it was roomier, but it seemed almost like two different spaces. An enjoyable italian meal. Tho I'd watch out for anything with shellfish. We started with a martini and an Old Fashioned before ordering the Grilled Branzino and the famous Beef Wellington. For sides, we shared the Potato Purée and the Roasted Brussels Sprouts. To top it all off, the staff surprised us with ice cream for a birthday dessert. The Branzino was perfectly cooked, fresh, and flavorful, and the Beef Wellington absolutely lived up to the hype. It was cooked to a perfect medium with a tender filet and flaky pastry. The Potato Purée was rich and creamy. The Brussels Sprouts were good, but they weren't our favorite side. While I usually enjoy anything pickled, chili glaze, and cilantro individually, the combination of those flavors just didn't quite work for my taste. After first seeing the Amuse Bouche, one might presume an evening of tiny, expensive bites -- leaving one hungry afterwards. Please know that couldn't be further from the truth here. Each course was its own little world. The variety of flavors from each course was interesting, yet perfect together -- moving from seafood to lamb to beef. The Lamb Lollipops with Tomato Jam were simply the best lamb I have ever enjoyed in my entire life. It was moist and flavorful even without either of the sauces. I think they may have ruined lamb for me, because wherever I go from now on, their lamb will be compared to HK, and most certainly lose out. I can just hear it now, "Nope, Hell's Kitchen lamb was better." Now, the Mini Beef Wellington was special, as well. Between the puff pastry and the beef is a thin layer of what I can only describe as mushroom purée. It is wonderful and adds something to the puff pastry that is unique. It's another dish that may be tough to beat, as well. Lastly, the Individual Sticky Toffee Pudding was not what I was expecting from the name, but it, too, was a hit with the entire party. Bo Young was a fantastic server -- very attentive and informative regarding each course. The ambiance was a casual elegance, fitting for such a fine meal. We simply can't wait to return.

I'll give benefit of the doubt that it was slow season and staffing might be lean. My wife and I ordered Baja fish tacos and the fish n chips plate, I though the texture and execution of the dishes was spot on, very crispy and appetizing looking dishes, the tacos had cotija cheese on top of the fried fish, diced peppers with pico, and the side was a creative play on street corn (corn, mayo, cheese, spices) served with chips. The only critique I'll give is everything needed more salt, but that's better than being salty. My drinks were amazing, blood orange IPA and the clear water lager (award winning). I had a very positive experience and would definitely recommend!

The food itself is completely mediocre. We ordered the nachos and the ramen. The nachos were just okay (we got them with beef), but the ramen broth was way too salty. The real shocker came when the bill arrived. They charged $38 bucks for a single bowl of ramen that only had two pieces of pork belly in it, and honestly, the pork tasted more like regular fried bacon. On top of that, the nachos were over $30. I totally get that tourist areas are bound to be pricey, but these prices are just excessive for what you actually get. People really need to know what they're getting into before they choose to eat here. Definitely won't be back.

Saltgrass Steakhouse is located in the Nugget Casino in Lake Tahoe. The setting is very nice and…read morecasual, but the food is high quality as are their prices. We started with the fried mushrooms, which was very good with a thick breading that had a spicy kick. Most of the group decided on burgers, and I decided on the filet Oscar's with baked potato on fried asparagus. The filet was good, but was cooked medium well instead of medium, so it was a bit dry. The Crab Oscar was more like a shredded crab salad so it didn't compliment the filet to me. The fried asparagus was really good, with a thick batter, that I probably would've enjoyed as an appetizer and preferred it grilled with the filet. My granddaughter was treated to a chocolate cake birthday dessert and it was so rich and delicious. Our server, Senia was wonderful, and attended to us so efficiently, and was very nice. We parked in the Nugget parking lot, which can be pricey, but the restaurant validates, so it's free when dining. Just remember to bring your ticket in for validation.

This past weekend we were in Lake Tahoe for a fundraising event and wanted to try a new restaurant,…read moreso we went to Saltgrass. All things considered, we had a good experience, and we'd likely return next time we visit the area. The positive? The food was excellent. The negative? The hostesses and the waiter. My wife had the Salmon Oscar and simply loved it. She got the broccoli as a side, and it was a plentiful helping. She also said the broccoli was fresh and nicely cooked. I had the pairing of the NY and grilled shrimp, with a baked potato as a side. The steak was cooked perfectly. The shrimp were a bit small, but the lemon butter was a nice pairing. It's hard to mess up a baked potato, but I've seen it done. This one was perfect and had just the right amount of butter. For dessert, we shared the carrot cake...boy, was this good! We were sorry we didn't order two. We would return for the carrot cake alone. It was very moist, and the frosting was just the right amount of sweet. We loved it! When we arrived, there was a gaggle of folks at the hostess stand. Not one greeted us warmly, nor were we told to enjoy our meal. We had added a "special occasion" during the booking. No one at the restaurant ever mentioned it. It was extremely disappointing! The waitress was tepid. She would warm up at times, but it was definitely not our best experience. The staff left us wanting, especially for a nice dinner and a special occasion. If we decided not to return, it would rest solely on the experience with the staff.
