Located inside the Golden Nugget Casino. The seafood bouillabaisse and fresh oysters were excellent. The service was very friendly and attentive. Small and limited bar seating only.

For our first night in South Lake Tahoe we my husband decided to eat here and I was skeptical. Well let me tell you that I was glad he made that choice! The clam chowder was delicious and flavorful and it comes with these little cute crackers. I had the shrimp linguine and the cheese they placed on top was phenomenal. My husband had the BOUILLABAISSE it had Shrimp, Lobster, Crab Legs, Clams, Mussels, Cod and he said it was great and I tried it as well and he was right! It's a small bar but it's worth the wait. Our waiter Kyle was amazing and took very good care of us. You honestly can't go wrong by eating at this restaurant!

Overall loved the food and the price was fair for everything, if you're looking for Cajun spice we don't really get that from our seafood boils and expect that the "sauce" you'd usually get from a boil is not what you get here - it's much more of a beer boil seasoning reminiscent of a seafood soup dish going on here but it's delicious and you get plenty of seafood with whatever you choose. Overall would recommend if you're craving seafood in the area, but I wouldn't go for just the seafood boil.

Confused on reviews mentioning the Palace Station Oyster. This does not do the trick or even comes anywhere close. We ordered the Lobster Pan Roast and it came in half the portion sized bowl compared to Palace Station but for the same price. Flavor was extremely off. Just tastes like tangy tomato? No hot sauce could save it. Clam Chowder was good but very thick and lacked clams. Oysters were fresh. Steamed Mussels were tasty. Definitely not a place I would ever wait in line for having experience delicious pan roast back in Los Angeles and Vegas.

Dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in South Lake Tahoe, the Oyster Bar. Consistently delicious food and always worth a visit. We never leave Lake Tahoe without dining here.

During our recent visit to Tahoe, we were out exploring and happened to come up upon this place. I saw that it was voted best seafood in Tahoe and I can see why. Service was good . Lady making the dishes was as well. And the Caesar salad was fresh and had lots of parmesan. But the star of the meal was the Bouillabaisse. It was absolutely delicious. Fresh and full of a generous seafood. I wish I lived closer so I could visit more often.

This was our first visit to this fine establishment... I wish we had discovered it on our previous visit because it is so spectacular we have been two nights in a row and I can't tell you that NEVER has happened before. We had some of the most delicious sourdough bread to start and that's not saying less because my husband is a pastry chef and he makes it on the daily. So for our first visit we had Caesar salad, Gumbo, and Linguine and Clams everything was delicious! So much so my hubby persuaded me to return tonight for night two because he just had to have more.... So he had the try out the Jambalaya and me the New England chowder... as usual everything's spectacular. I know you want me to write about the SERVICE, I mean chef Kyle and his crew are on top of everything number one! Ambience of course spectacular. Please do not come here because then I have to wait in a longer line ;)

Absolutely incredible oyster bar experience in Lake Tahoe. Everything was unbelievably fresh and full of flavor. We started with oysters on the half shell and they were briny, sweet, and ice-cold -- exactly how they should be. The sauces and lemon wedges were a perfect touch without overpowering the natural flavor. The seafood stew/cioppino was the star of the show. Loaded with crab, lobster, shrimp and clams in a rich, savory broth that you'll want to soak up with bread. The clam bowl was also fantastic -- tender, perfectly cooked clams in a flavorful, garlicky broth with just the right amount of heat.. Ambiance was perfect. Service was friendly and attentive, and you can really tell they care about quality. Portions were generous and totally worth it. If you're a seafood lover visiting Tahoe, this place is a must-stop. I'd come back in a heartbeat!

This place is fantastic!!! It's a must if you love seafood and are in Lake Tahoe! It gets busy so we went mid afternoon and there was no line! They have a small counter where they have their steamer pots. My Dad recommended the Bouillabaisse Special w/rice and roll, it's his go to. Everything is great but that's his #1 so we had to give it a try. WOW!!! The Lobster and Crab legs were to die for, along with shrimp, mussels, and clams. The broth was so flavorful, had to dip the bread into it. The seafood was cooked perfectly and tender. Amazing place and can't wait to go back! Definitely worth it.

It's hard to come close to The Oyster Bar at Palace Station in Vegas, but The Oyster Bar at the Golden Nugget will certainly do the trick. You definitely won't be waiting hours to get a seat, which to me is a plus. The staff were really friendly and the food came out timely. We had the caesar salad, house special pan roast, and cioppino. All taste great and would recommend these to folks looking for something tasty!! My only wish is that the restrooms were closer! lol, you gotta walk a little far before you get to one.

Came on a Saturday evening and there was a bit of a wait but wasn't too bad. This is my second time back since being back in Lake Tahoe since I am from the Bay Area and come up to snowboard. The gumbo is amazing and keeps me coming back! The service is also quick, friendly, and very attentive. I get it with crab and add the rice in together. Will definitely be a must routine when in town.

A must try for all seafood lovers! Service is super welcoming and helpful in addressing all our questions as first timers. Nice bar set up where we could see the food being prepared. We ordered the clam chowder, steamed clams, house pan roast, and seafood boil. All tasted amazing! If I had to change one thing, Id make the clam chowder slightly less thick as it wasnt really soup texture, but more porridge-like. I definitely plan on coming back here anytime Im in the area. Tip: Get in line before 6pm to avoid a super long wait time.

I love coming here on Sunday because they open at 11:00 a.m. and it's the perfect timing for every time I'm about to go back home I have to stop by here and get me a seafood boil with noodles for The Hangover. I really like their Cioppino which is not to thick but is a little bit on the soupy side and it's really good with noodles in it. I also like their gumbo because it's simple and it's very flavorful and doesn't have too much ingredients in there that gets too overwhelming and have to use fingers. Also I do like their French seafood boil stew which is really rich and has Lobster in it with crab and other Seafood like mussels and clams and fish. I always like adding noodles to my seafood boil because it reminds me of ramen. Also I find the noodles very comforting and isn't too much of a carb. I also like their clam chowder which is really creamy and Rich and very flavorful and it is fillling too. The service here is always quick on their feet and refilling our water, with extra napkin and wet wipes. The Ambiance is casual and it is a bar top and it does get filled quickly. I do like coming here it is a Hidden Gem to me. Hope this review helps and thanks for reading and have a yelplastic day.

    Can I make reservation?

    No. First come first serve

    Are there children allowed?

Yes, kids can dine at They Oyster Bar as long as you're comfortable with them sitting in a "high" bar chair.

Do you have tables? Or is it just seating at the bar?

Bar only and there is only maybe space for 20 so in peak time the wait can be long but for sure worth it . Great food and service . This place is the best at the hard rock hotel

    Do they have reservation options?

no, it's first come, first serve. 4-4;30 thr lines are better

Do they do take out currently?

Yes, but a very limited menu like 4 or 5 items only.

Looks like reservations were taken off of OpenTable, is it by first come first basis now?

Hi Jack! That is correct, Oyster Bar has returned to serving our guests on a first come first serve basis.

How do you take out food if there is no direct phone # to reach them? The listed # goes to general hotel front desk and they're not helpful - they say there's no direct extension to the restaurant.

As of May 2022, the only item available for take out is clam chowder.

We were there during Friday-Sunday weekend, so it is possible happy hour is only on a weekday.

How big is the bar? Can it fit a party of 8? What would the wait time be?

It's a literal bar that sits 20 people, like breakfast bar inside a house with high stools. It is rectangular shape with one long side being back wall where employees come in and out, cooks and servers assist you from inside the rectangle.… Read more

We started with the fried mushrooms, which was very good with a thick breading that had a spicy kick. Most of the group decided on burgers, and I decided on the filet Oscar's with baked potato on fried asparagus. The filet was good, but was cooked medium well instead of medium, so it was a bit dry. The Crab Oscar was more like a shredded crab salad so it didn't compliment the filet to me. The fried asparagus was really good, with a thick batter, that I probably would've enjoyed as an appetizer and preferred it grilled with the filet. My granddaughter was treated to a chocolate cake birthday dessert and it was so rich and delicious. Our server, Senia was wonderful, and attended to us so efficiently, and was very nice. All things considered, we had a good experience, and we'd likely return next time we visit the area. The positive? The food was excellent. The negative? The hostesses and the waiter. My wife had the Salmon Oscar and simply loved it. She got the broccoli as a side, and it was a plentiful helping. She also said the broccoli was fresh and nicely cooked. I had the pairing of the NY and grilled shrimp, with a baked potato as a side. The steak was cooked perfectly. The shrimp were a bit small, but the lemon butter was a nice pairing. It's hard to mess up a baked potato, but I've seen it done. This one was perfect and had just the right amount of butter. For dessert, we shared the carrot cake...boy, was this good! We were sorry we didn't order two. We would return for the carrot cake alone. It was very moist, and the frosting was just the right amount of sweet. We loved it! When we arrived, there was a gaggle of folks at the hostess stand. Not one greeted us warmly, nor were we told to enjoy our meal. We had added a "special occasion" during the booking. No one at the restaurant ever mentioned it. It was extremely disappointing! The waitress was tepid. She would warm up at times, but it was definitely not our best experience. The staff left us wanting, especially for a nice dinner and a special occasion. If we decided not to return, it would rest solely on the experience with the staff.

My wife and I ordered Baja fish tacos and the fish n chips plate, I though the texture and execution of the dishes was spot on, very crispy and appetizing looking dishes, the tacos had cotija cheese on top of the fried fish, diced peppers with pico, and the side was a creative play on street corn (corn, mayo, cheese, spices) served with chips. The only critique I'll give is everything needed more salt, but that's better than being salty. My drinks were amazing, blood orange IPA and the clear water lager (award winning).
