Sage Room was a great choice for a nicer evening out. It's definitely a place to go when you're ready to spend some money and make a night of dinner. We started with a couple of cocktails, then had the prime rib and the elk special. I loved the prime rib--and honestly, the few asparagus spears on the plate were so good I wanted more! The elk was good, but the mashed potatoes that came with it felt like instant potatoes, which was a little disappointing at this price point. We added the oysters Rockefeller and didn't love them as much as we expected. In hindsight, we would've skipped the Rockefeller preparation. We finished with coffee and the white chocolate strawberry mousse. Despite a couple of misses, we enjoyed the evening and would go back for a special occasion. read more

I hate literally sharing this review and it is my obligation. Staff is cool, Bill, great. But when I'm paying $25 a glass of Cabernet (totally okay btw with this review) I was by myself.... It took me flagging down to get help as a single female (also get it lol it's Tahoe) but I nudged that I had been here before and I liked the elk blah blah blah I ordered the specialty elk medium rare and this was uh it was chewy? Is that okay to post? Effing $70 elk I asked medium rare and I also nicely told the staff "I don't need anything but this is not medium rare" lol bill actually looked at me like he knew they effed it up like it's normal. I will happily and DID pay the $200 bill by myself but no, never again will I go here as a single woman. Don't waste your money. read more

I'm not in the habit of writing reviews, but a recent dining experience the at the Sage Room was so disappointing that I felt compelled to share my thoughts. We were celebrating my father's 75th birthday and wanted to take him somewhere nice as we don't often eat out. The idea of watching the sun set over Lake Tahoe as we ate sounded like a real treat. The highlight of the evening was definitely the view and the sunset was beautiful. Unfortunately that's where our enjoyment of the meal ended. But to fully capture our disappointment we have to go back trying to make a reservation. Our unpleasant my dining experience began before even arriving at the restaurant. To reserve a table here you must use OpenTable and to reserve a table with a view, there's a $50 fee. I logged into OpenTable and selected a time and then completed the transaction or so I thought. I received a confirmation and within a few seconds I also received a message saying the reservation had canceled. I thought it was a fluke, so I tried again. Same thing happened. I tried 3 more times, all with the same error. I checked my bank account and the $50 had been deducted and then refunded each time. I did the next logical thing and called the restaurant where I was told that they have no way to override the system in order to place a reservation and the only way we could reserve a table was through the app. They also had no way to manually make a reservation which seems odd, but that they could leave a note for the staff the next day. I left my name and phone number and decided to try a different card and suddenly it worked. The night before our dinner reservation, I got a phone call at 11:30pm. The caller identified himself as Frank Grecco, the general manager of the restaurant He apologized for the trouble and told me to mention his name when we arrived because he wanted to come talk to me before or after we ate and make things right. I explained that both my parents are disabled and one would be using a walker and the other in a wheelchair. When we arrived at the restaurant, I mentioned to the front hostess that Frank had called me. The hostess said she would let him know and asked if we were celebrating anything. I said it was my dad's birthday. We were seated in a corner in the farthest part of the restaurant by the window. It was a great view but very awkward to maneuver for my parents. We got them seated and the assistant waiter asked if we wanted water. It took 30+ minutes for our waiter to appear to take our drink order. Granted it was a somewhat busy night, but by no means full. It took another half an hour to place our order for appetizers.. Our waiter never came to check on drink refills or after our food came out. It was weird because other tables were getting much more attention. We ended up being in the restaurant for over 3 hours, in fact we were the last table there to leave. We also noticed several other tables around us that were seated after us, but had their food and finished well before we did. To sour the evening even more there were 2 very large, very loud tables who obviously had a bit to drink. I didn't want to complain about the noise because I don't like being a "karen". I feel like the noise level should have been obvious to staff but they failed to do anything. I don't feel like it should take a complaint before reminding them that they were in a fine dining establishment. At least the prices were set for fine dining. At one point I noticed a man walking around and talking to other tables. I overheard him say his name was Frank Grecco. Given what he told me on the phone, I expected him to stop as he made his way towards where we were seated. But he proceeded past our table, stopping to talk to a couple seated in a booth nearby before greeting other tables around us and then leaving. I don't understand why he told me to mention his name when we arrived. We weren't expecting a comped meal or anything, but it would have been nice to be acknowledged. I will admit that my steak was cooked perfectly, but that's about the only highlight of the meal apart from the view of the lake at sunset. Today we took my dad to another nice steakhouse in Reno, NV Steak at Tamarack Casino, and the experience was like night and day. We will never be dining at Sage Room again. It was one of the best perfectly cooked filets ever! Hal topped it with a delicious bernaise sauce and the asparagus was nicely prepared. We also enjoyed the cheesy scalloped potatoes. We've been to Sage Room a few times over the years, but after this visit, we've decided it will probably be our last. If you're looking for a nice steak dinner, we much prefer Friday's Station across the street, which is also owned by Caesars Entertainment. In our experience, the food at Sage Room has always been underwhelming, especially considering the prices and the fact that it's supposed to be a more upscale dining experience. What really disappointed me this visit was the filet. It arrived with unusual char marks on top that looked almost decorative, but another filet at our table didn't have the same markings. The texture was awful--it reminded me of one of those "meat glue" filets made by binding smaller pieces of beef together instead of serving a whole cut. Whether it actually was or not, that's exactly how it looked and tasted to me. It was also chewy and overcooked, making it one of the worst filets I've had, especially at this price point. The rest of the food was okay, but nothing stood out or justified the cost. I will say the service was good. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout the meal, so no complaints there. Overall, we won't be returning. If you're going to spend this kind of money, I'd recommend going across the street to Friday's Station instead. We've had much better experiences there. read more

I went here the other night with my family/friends. The service was great, very friendly staff. Vibes were really good here, very scenic views. Food took a long time, but that can be expected for a big group. Food quality on the other hand, especially for the price tag, I can expect to be pretty good. I just ordered a caesar salad and added chicken, also got a side of the garlic mashed potatoes. As far as the price tag goes, I really was expecting good presentation, but that's not really what I received? The salad looked like they just threw some chicken thighs on there, with skin and fat, and all. Chicken was not even trimmed, was not even nicely plated, literally just tossed ontop of the salad. Most of it was dark fat meat, totally a disappointment. Salad itself barely had any dressing for it, even more disappointing. Mashed potatoes were good, I tried some of my sister's plate and it was fine. Seriously though, you're an upscale restaurant and messing up on something as simple as salad? The epitome of fine dining, the Sage Room at Caesars Republic is a place where great memories are made and will be treasured for years to come. We arrived at 5pm for their Early Bird Special, and were warmly greeted at the door by Frank, their elegant and gracious GM. Jeremy, our friendly and prompt waiter, seated us at a table that featured a 180 degree view of the lake while Carlos provided backup with huge smiles and the most pleasant demeanor imaginable. Amazing service, easily some of the best I've experienced. The Early Bird Special includes a soup or salad and a dessert with an entree, making it one of the best deals on the lake. My wife had an AMAZING butternut squash soup (a special that night), while I had a classic Caesar salad with anchovies on the side. I ordered the prime rib which arrived a perfect medium rare and full of flavor with the charred edges I adore, while my wife's Chilean sea bass had a fantastic tajin seasoning that highlighted the crust of the fish that enveloped the moist, meltingly delicious meat underneath. For dessert we had the huckleberry gelato and an oven-crisp crème brûlée. Do yourself and favor and join Frank and his team for dinner on the lake. Every time me and my wife come here it is a wonderful experience. From the second you walk in you are greeted with friendly professionalism. The perfect time to go is about an hour before sunset and to get a window seat. Every waiter we've ever had has made each dinner a spectacle from the table side shows of different dishes to understanding our preferences and not bothering us too much so that we can enjoy conversation and our meal. I have been to the Sage Room several times. The service is always great, but I have had mixed food in the past. I went at the end of November 2025 and the whole experience was excellent. We went for my friend's birthday. Frank the GM was very friendly, helpful, and just delightful. Anthony's waitering was top notch and the banana's Foster delightful. I split the poke and the shrimp and scallops with my friend. The sear on the shrimps and the scallops was perfect making them flavorful. I would eat either of those again. It was dark when we were there, but you could see some of the Christmas lights of Heavenly Village. read more

We had an amazing first dining experience here last night. The ambiance is great and I'm sure views are wonderful when it isn't dark out like it was for us. Service was A+ all around. Drinks never went empty. We got complimentary warm bread and butter to start and it was very yummy. We split all dishes. The Caesar salad was huge even split in two. The 20oz bone in NY strip was delicious and plenty big enough to share. My only complaint about the au gratin potatoes is that it needed to be double the size for that price. It wS tasty but not great, seems a little undercooked. The table side bananas foster is $30 for two but worth every penny! This review is LONG overdue! We have been coming for quite some time. We made reservations for our anniversary and again they reminded us why we keep coming back. We were greeted warmly and seated at a window table overlooking the lake and the beautiful sparkling lights. Just love the view! The service was on point, consistently great like always. We both ordered filet mignon with two sides, gnocchi mac and cheese and the potatoes au gratin. Everything was cooked to perfection, super flavorful, exactly what we wanted. Sage, located on the 19th floor in the Cesars hotel, truly made this birthday a memorable one. I wish I came across a Jericho and Tarra every time we went to dine in. My last minute birthday Tahoe trip leads to no reservations lined up, but we called and they were happily able to accommodate our party of 8 one hour before closing time! With the expectation to make dinner brief, they made us feel so welcomed and comfortable, even seating us in the corner next to the window to enjoy what likely was the most exclusive view in the restaurant. From appetizers (Cesar salad, shrimp cocktails and bone marrow), a bottle of the Chappellet cabernet, to the Ribeye, filet mignon and prime rib, and all sides.. ugh! Just a great evening all around! This is a spectacular location with an impossibly amazing lake view (thru brown tinted looking windows unfortunately). The drab '90s era tired interior though needs a massive sparkling refurbishment $$$ (the whole damn property does). The Sage Room is a legendary restaurant at Tahoe, but it is not in the original storied location here. The service is top end old school great, though a bit cadaverous. There are top seafood choices. The $$ prime rib was an over-salted mess all but inedible (was it the au jus??). The garlic mash was an uninspired bit of drywall glue. There was nice mushroom ravioli and a great wine list. This hotel is not what it was - part of a huge corporate conglomerate now. They aren't fooling anybody, and might start with new carpeting, high investment renovation, and less parking fees. Maybe should take some pointers from the Peppermill resort down the mountain. read more

Amazing birthday dinner at the Sage Room last night. My wife and I had been to the 19th bar several times over the years for a cocktail and an appetizer but we never had eaten at the restaurant..... The Sage Room moved up from the casino floor and took the place of the 19th bar and lounge a few years back so we decided to celebrate a friends birthday and we had a great experience. We got a table by the window with a great view and the rest of the evening was as good as the wonderful view. I ordered the filet mignon,loaded baked potato and a caesar salad. Filet was cooked to a perfect medium rare, seasoned just right and had an interesting bernaise like sauce on top- 10/10 Great steak, great flavor which is what you expect when you pay 75$ for a steak, it better pop in your mouth with every bite. Baked potato was fully loaded with bacon, cheese sour cream and chives, overall very good, didn't have the olive oil and salt rubbed skin so it was a little dry and i didn't eat the skin ( my favorite part) because it didn't have any seasoning- 7/10 Caesar salad was very good , had tomatoes in which is different but dressing was really good and i enjoyed it 8/10 My wife and her friends had the New York steak special with camelized onions and blue cheese crumbles and the Filet mignon with chimichurri and prawns , both meals came with garlic mashed potatoes. The girls raved about all of it, i tried the New York and the blue cheese and onion on top of the steak was bright and flavorful and very tasty, i prefer a savory steak and a strong blue cheese is not something i would personally choose but it was very tasty and the girls loved it. My wife loved the chimichurri filet, the mashed potato were "super creamy dreamy" and the scampi style shrimp were also excellent. Service was great, we shared a bottle of wine and enjoyed a complimentary birthday dessert, a great evening that is sure to bring us back for another special occasion. read more

I've heard about place and Wolf was fully booked so I decided to dine here. First, the hostess girl who sit us was very nice and friendly and she sat us at a corner window table and had the spectacular views. We started with half dozen of oysters and 2 glasses of Sauvignon Blanc ( they didn't have a good one by glass but it was ok), but the oysters were good so we ordered another half dozen. Next we both had wedge salad which had candid bacon and it was delicious. For main, I got the Wagyu which was so tender with Japanese steak sauce on top, just like the ones I was having when I was just in Japan a week ago and my date had rib-eye which was also tender and flavorful surprisingly because rib-eye tend to be a bit tough and we also had a side of truffle gnocchi, even though I didn't taste or smell truffle, it was still delicious with some crunch in them. For dessert we had crème brûlée which was as lemony and refreshing. From the servers to the manager everybody was very attentive great service. It's a spectacular view of Lake Tahoe. The restaurant is nicely decorated. Unfortunately, the food has lost the quality it use to be. The Cesar salad tastes like it was made in the morning and had been sitting in the refrigerator and then I had to ask for anchovies. The crab cake was delicious but the side of puréed corn looked like vomit and tasted too sweet. They used to make your spinach salad in front of you. Now they don't even offer it. Waiter said they have a new chef and he'd didn't like it. Really ?? You have to ask for bread. The steaks and sea bass are still good quality. Side dishes are edible. We have been coming to sage room for over 30 years (when they use to be located where Hell's Kitchen is now) But for the price point they can do better. Waiters are very polite and engaging. This place used to be my favorite restaurant. When I came here recently I was shocked to see they removed all the classic dishes from the menu. All the classics that were prepared tableside are gone. It's an absolute travesty. This place has been dying a slow death starting when it was moved upstairs from its previous location downstairs. The entrées all used to come with sides. Now everything is ala carte. No more tableside caesar salad. No more steak diane. No more chateaubriand. These dishes set Sage Room apart from every other steakhouse. I don't know if this was a local decision or a Caesar's Entertainment decision, but however it was made it's flat wrong. When we were there I asked our waiter if he's been hearing a lot of complaining and he gave me a big yes. I told him it's not his fault , so I wouldn't pile on. I ordered the caesar salad and it tasted like a caesar salad that comes from a bag. My Prime Rib was ok. Not terrible and not great. That will be my final visit to Sage Room.Good Bye old friend.
