Chicken fried steak, eggs and Hash browns.
Jackie R.

Food is fresh and Homemade. Chicken fried steak with homemade gravy, 2 eggs, hash browns. I ordered half portion of biscuit and gravy, 2 eggs, slice of Ham Staff were extremely pleasant. Large portions. Homemade apple muffin, was delicious! We asked for it to be warmed with some butter. The Bloody Mary was perfectly spiced, and the Mimosa (18 flavors to choose from) was served in a pint mason jar, nice size! Sit on the outdoor patio, enjoyable and welcoming.

Fantastic food, chef was very accommodating to a requested change. Want to taste something amazing? Try the potato balls! The Cider Factory building where Crazy Calamities can be found is such an amazing building. It's vintage and really brings forth the experience of history in VC. Go, Enjoy! You won't be sorry

When I say this is the best food in town, I mean it. This adorable little cafe is a powerhouse and a must-try when you visit Virginia City. Everything on the menu is superb. Nothing frozen, everything is fresh, from scratch and made to order. They feature a full breakfast menu and a lunch menu. I've tried multiple things on the menu and nothing has disappointed me ever. They also have weekly specials and you must try the Huevo Rancheros (when available) made in house. You can't get any better in town or the surrounding towns. Huevos rancheros is one of my all-time favorite breakfast dishes, and I make a point of always trying it if it's on a menu. This one ranks up with some of the best I've ever had. This place has a little dining area inside off from the kitchen and a gorgeous dining area adjacent for larger groups. There is also a patio area to eat outside with the most cutest decor and you might glimpse a local kitten playing in the flowers. They have the cutest names for their food items as well. Dishes I've tried and loved include: Breakfast: The Cow Patty (chicken fried steak) Wild Bill's Breakfast (2 eggs, potatoes, meat, toast) The Norman Helloooooo (New York Steak) Pork Chorizo Potatoes (hello! Yum) *Breakfast things I need to try and haven't yet but include the Biscuits and Gravy (I have heard so many locals rave about this; I can't believe I haven't tried it yet) & Gold Rush (Orange Spiced French Toast) Lunch: Devil's Gate Dip: seriously, amazing, slow cooked beef French dip. The beef is so succulent, and the au juice is amazing as well with onions added. A must! Fried Potato Balls: just as it sounds, with a delicious sriracha dipping sauce. Onion Rings: Huge pieces for us onion lovers! The Italian: Another must! Delicious Italian salad: i'm a sucker for a good salad and I've been known to add the beef from the Devil's gate dip to put on top of the salad. And the Italian dressing is homemade and incredible! *Lunch items I need to try and haven't yet include the Sharp Shooter (chicken breast in buffalo or ranch sauce sandwich ), The Ringo (New York Steak Sandwich with blue cheese & mushrooms (be still my heart!) & Tombstone BLTA (and you can add freshly shaved turkey to club it up). Now let's talk about their Mimosas! They have amazing mimosa flavors! This isn't just your standard OJ and Champagne! They even offer a flight of mimosas, I have never seen that anywhere. You must try them! Flavors include my two favorites (Blueberry & Sunrise) as well as a Mango flavor, a Tropical Rum, Pineapple , and Strawberry. Seriously, who else offers that assortment of flavors? So perfect to wash down your breakfast or lunch with. You had me at mimosa! I'll definitely be back multiple times every time I visit my family in Virginia City. Their hours are 6 AM to 3 PM so you've got to make sure to go during breakfast or lunch and they are closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The folks who run the place are great! Super friendly, accommodating locals who serve the best food you can find. Chef's kiss to you: Misty, Leslie, Susan and Chris! You guys are killing it!!

We decided to try the new Crazy Calamities for breakfast. You can have breakfast or lunch up till 3:00pm. I made a reservation for noon, but truly wasn't needed. It was not busy at all. I like that they had a fire going, I would have preferred to sit by the fire, the resturant tends to be on the cold side, but in the main dining room has mostly tables for large parties. There are two sides to the menu for Breakfast & Lunch. My husband and I split the Strawberry muffin and it was to die for. The waitress Susan said " they are super good the chef/owner (Misty) is an excellent baker" and she was right about that! My husband had the Bloody Mary it was spicy just the way he likes it and it had a meal of its own. We shared the breakfast burrito the bacon was tasty. I think I should have gotten the muffin for myself! Next time I'm ordering the bake goods & a side of bacon.

Quaint brunch spot in iconic Virginia City, Nevada. Four of us ordered four different meals and they were all delicious! Highly recommend the fried potato balls! I also ordered the flight of mimosas. Blueberry was my favorite. So good! My friend got the Bloody Mary and it was loaded with veggie's and all the fixings. Our waitress, Sunshine, gave us her recommendations and was so attentive and friendly.

Best food!

Crazy Calamities is always a favorite when I'm in Virginia City! The old Western vibe makes it feel special, and you're always greeted with kindness. The food is made fresh to order, and the homemade muffins are the best treat. Clean, welcoming, and consistently delicious--this spot never disappoints!

I'm not…read morea regular coffee drinker, but I was looking to get my iced brew fix and there aren't many options in town. You have to drive into Reno or Carson City to hit up a Starbucks or comparable coffee place. I heard from locals about The Roasting House. I saw pics of celebrities like Terrance Howard and Jeremy Renner sitting on the quaint little bar stools inside. Roasting House has officially entered the coffee chat room! On my first visit, I saw that the Iced Brew special was Carrot Cake. Um? Only my favorite cake! I had the best timing and hit the jackpot! Of course that's what I ordered. It was delicious! The decor is absolutely adorable. It's like a beautiful Victorian feel to it. It has beautiful furniture, pictures on the wall, and they have coffee, jewelry for sale and other items. Additionally, they roast their coffee beans on-site with a large vintage roasting machine towards the back of the shop. The place definitely has an elegant, antique-like ambience that fits perfectly with VC. They also serve various baked goods, bagel sandwiches and other breakfast items. You will have a great start to your day by coming here first. Service is impeccable and the staff is super friendly. As you go towards the rear of the shop, there is a beautiful patio that overlooks Virginia city and the streets below C Street. It's a perfect place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast item. It's very peaceful with beautiful scenery and they've added some rustic patio furniture. I've been back a couple times and the prices are really good. I'm from the Bay Area and compared to where I'm from the prices are more than reasonable for coffee. This is a place not to be missed when you visit Virginia City!

The decor definitely fit the name, and the staff passed the vibe check. Greeted immediately and sat at a sizable table, I noticed plenty of seating availability; however, space was rather tight with regard to table placement. We found the menu to be extensive and combed through the plethora of choices before landing on our final decisions. Always eager to try new things, I noticed there were quite a few specialty cocktails, including spiked milkshakes. I opted for the Vanilla Kahlua, and I would do it all over again! The milkshake was blended to perfection, smooth with a little razzle-dazzle you didn't know you needed. The kids opted for chocolate milkshakes they loved and rated 10/10. Very much like our other dining experiences, the kids settled on chicken tenders and fries while we, on the other hand, chose to explore our options. We started off with chilli cheese fries along with spinach and artichoke dip served with house-made tortilla chips. The portions for both appetizers were well-sized and delicious. We managed to get quite the cheese pull with the chilli cheese fries, and the house-made tortilla chips were most definitely worth writing home about; they were perfectly sized, light, and airy with an excellent amount of crisp that added texture to the flavorsome spinach and artichoke dip. For our entrees, he ordered the bacon egg and cheese burger with fries; there was an option for a turkey Reuben; however, I'm not a fan of sauerkraut, so I politely requested a turkey Rachel, and although it wasn't an option on the menu, they obliged much to my heart's delight! It's the little things Of course, the food did not disappoint! My sandwich was toasted impeccably with the right amount of butter melted, offering a decadent crisp that merged nicely with fillings making up my sandwich. Truthfully, I was beyond impressed with the aesthetic of the establishment, the services provided, and how flavorful the food was. The staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, and engaging, which made our experience even more memorable, so much so that we eagerly anticipate our next visit.

We think there may have been some recent movements by the owners, and for the purposes of this review, I'll go with this Yelp entry the matches the pictures to what we experienced. Today was a quiet post-New Years day and Gayle wanted to dine someplace besides the Red Dog Saloon (our "usual"). The Canvas Cafe (or whatever it's called now) was just a block or so down C street and open. The dining room was small, cute, inviting, and warm. It was also a "one man show" today as one guy was working both the kitchen and the dining room (and very well). I especially appreciate a really busy guy who maintained a relatively high service level, with a smile and a generous side of patience. We all ordered sandwiches, including French Dip for Gayle, Smash Burger for Darling Granddaughter, and a grilled Chicken Pesto for me. Everything was delicious, with my only regret being that I should have ordered the impressive side salad that Gayle chose. A small bag of chips really didn't do the sandwich justice. I would have also preferred a beer, but there was no alcohol served today, and my bottomless glass of lemonade was more than just fine. Gayle and I agreed that we'd love to come back in whatever main place or annex. It's a fair drive back to Genoa from VC, and we were happy to head down the hill full and happy.
