The service is poor and the food was unfortunately very mediocre to bland. My spouse and I are from the San Francisco Bay Area so we get our share of mostly great dim sum and some mediocre. The service was poor. We were the first to come in and be seated on 8-10-26. No other customers. We said hello to the server and all she could muster was say "seat anywhere". No hellos. We sat down and she pointed to the QR code for us to order. We know this drill. We ordered stir fried green beans, smashed cucumbers, pan fried pork dumplings. Food came quick. Green beans were a bit over cooked, pan fried dumplings were decent, cucumbers were good, beef roll was terrible. The beef tasted like deli style roast beef. Bland and salty. Tasted like what you would get from a deli counter.

Came here with friends on a Friday to grab some appetizers. We picked a table and ordered through their QR code. Their options were decent. There was a little of a wait to get our food. We ordered two different kind of dim sums - Chicken and vegetables - Vegetables The portions were good for three people, but there was very little flavor to the actual food. The price was a little high for what it is especially since the flavor was minimal. Overall would not come back, but I did see people eating other items than dim sum and they looked promising.

Dumplings yes please! Now we were looking for a steak dinner but after finding Dumpling 85 screw the steak we hit up the dumplings and we scored. The got pork xiao long bao, spicy wanton, potstickers, edamame, and beef brisket noodle soup. I loved that they served the soup in a big bowl with smaller bowls to share around the table which is exactly what we had planned. The brooth was so luxurious and smooth packed with flavors the noodles had the perfect bite and everything just worked so well with the tender beef brisket. The XLB broth inside was loaded with ginger and was a flavor bomb explosion in your mouth. I will say the potstickers were just thrown in the fryer which was different than what Im used to, it wasn't bad but I would order those again. All in all this was a great dinner spot!

Dim Sum in Tahoe!!! When we came we were seated right away. I'm not sure if this place fills up, but we were surprised this place was pretty good. It's not the besssssst, but for Tahoe and what Tahoe has to offer, it's good. We ordered the Pan Fried Pork Bun $15.95 & Beef Brisket Noodle Soup $18.95. Kind of pricey I'd say, and like Bay Area pricing, however for the price the portions were pretty big. We came in hungry and still had a little bit left over. The pan fried pork bun was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, a little bit much on the bun portion to meat ratio. The beef brisket noodle soup was the Star of the show for us! Mildly spicy, noodles were bouncy chewy and soft, all the flavors mixed well together especially when adding the vinegar into it! You must add the vinegar, it makes it so much better! Located in the main area of South Lake Tahoe near the heavenly gondola. If you need the dim sum/Chinese food fix while in Tahoe, this is not a bad spot!

Kids were craving XLB and found this place on yelp. There's a small parking lot in the back but u have to pay, I didn't see the pricing as the parking lot was full anyway, I don't know if this resto validates. We had ordered the pork xlb, spicy beef noodle soup. I asked for extra noodles for my son but I actually should I have waited as the serving size was huge. I could have split it with him. I ended up having left overs. The xlb didn't really look plump filled with soup. But the kids finished it, so just have been good. I also got the pork buns as I saw it was a favorite. There was plenty seating inside. Kinda pricey but I expected it being in Tahoe. They have QR menus at the table and food came out in a decent time.

I loved the cute shopping area this restaurant is located around. We were craving Asian food and were happy to stumble upon this spot. When we walked in around 3 p.m., there was no wait and a male server seated us right away. There's a QR code on the table for ordering. The issue was that no one explained that we had to order it through the phone. We thought it was just to look at the menu. We ended up sitting there for about 15 minutes before I finally asked whether we should order through him or our phones, and he told us it was phone only. That was pretty frustrating, as it would've been nice to know upfront instead of feeling ignored. As for the food, it was honestly very good. We started with the fresh cucumber salad, which was super refreshing and a great way to begin the meal. The pork xiao long bao were simple but really well done. The beef noodle soup was rich and flavorful, though I do wish it came with more noodles. We also ordered the zha jiang noodles, which were really, really good and packed with flavor, and the wonton noodle soup, which was simple but comforting and delicious. Food wise, I'd easily give this place four stars. Unfortunately, the customer service brought the experience down. After the food was dropped off, there was no check in at all. Since we ordered through our phones, we assumed we could also pay that way, but the app told us to pay with the cashier so we had to flag the server down again. Overall, I'd still recommend coming here to try the food, just don't expect attentive or quick service. That's why I'm giving this place three stars overall.

The food here is well-seasoned and honestly one of the better Asian spots in this area. However, the organization of the restaurant is pretty chaotic. There's no real waitlist, so guests have to approach the servers themselves and announce that they've arrived, along with what order they think they've been waiting in. Some people just walk in and grab the next available table, which creates frustration for everyone else. The staff doesn't seem concerned that there's no management or host at the front to control the flow of guests. All food is ordered through a QR code, but you're not allowed to self-pay or check out, which makes their system feel even more confusing. Overall, don't expect great service -- the setup is just strange. The food is good though, and the average dish runs about $17-$19.

I'M GIVING THIS 2 STARS BECAUSE THE PRICES $$ IF THEY WERE A LIL CHEAPER I WOULD GIVE 3 obviously i can't criticize too much because there's not much to compare in tahoe -- but it really wasn't that bad if i were hungry and wanted a quick bite. as an asian foodie, i would say it didn't really blow me away. that being said my favorite dish were the spicy wonton dumplings... but it wasn't spicy at all thus i had to add hella chili oil to lather her up! the xlb were okay but not great! everything else is meh.

This past weekend had the chance to come out to SLT and give Dumpling 85 a visit. We had seen many video reviews hyping the spot up so we were really excited for try it. Unfortunately it wasn't really much to our liking and here's why. Right when we walk in, all the staff seem to be pretty busy so the seating arrangements were kind of confusing. A worker popped up and just pointed us to a table after waiting for a couple minutes. The menu is all online so you do have to scan a barcode and pull up the menu. The service was also kind of meh, as no one really came in to check on us until we asked for more water... The restaurant is pretty small and it will probably get busy faster with the temperatures dropping soon. The food we ordered was just alright; the chow mein noodles we ordered barely had any chicken and they honestly felt kind of room temp. We didn't want to make a fuss about it because it did take a while for them to even come out so we just didn't end up finishing them. The dumplings were good but nothing crazy like they had been talked about online. To each their own but quite frankly I didn't get sold by the hype.

My experience here was average. We ordered hot tea, shrimp fried rice, and wonton soup. The best part of the meal were the wontons in the soup; the filling was seasoned well and the wontons were cooked perfectly. The restaurant was very busy and has more of a "fast food" vibe. The staff does seat you, however, all ordering is done via scanning a QR code and placing your own order. To close your tab you pay with the staff, as the "ordering app" does not allow for payment. I will visit again.

04/28/26 - $34.69 for a takeout order of hot sour soup and pork soup dumplings

*Keep in mind this is for a takeout order* It was.. okay. Everything in the area is expensive but this was a 5 minute walk from margaritaville so I figured I'd bite the bullet. Basically $35 for 1 order of soup dumplings and 1 order of hot and sour soup. Dumplings were oooookay. Was a little disappointed the only sauces they offered were soy sauce and sriracha packets, but again that's on me for ordering takeout. There might have been more options for dine in as I'm used to an actual chili sauce. Hot and sour soup was not my fav. Definitely had a little kick but was missing the sour in my opinion. Flavor and veggies were pretty basic. Location is convenient, my order was ready by the time I walked across the street, and it would probably satisfy a craving? But pretty expensive for what you get and overall underwhelming

We were craving dumplings due to the cold weather. One of the few places that popped up on Yelp was Dumpling 85. I am from San Francisco so I thought the food was average. It didn't taste super amazing but for Tahoe, I'll give it four stars! Service was great!

Pan Fried Pork Bun. Careful of the liquid inside. Different flavor but I liked it.

The food was good for sure. They don't open at 11 they open at 12. Atleast they did when we went. Service is a lil weird. You order everything from your phone. It's def share style. It's has a a lot of seating. It never got packed. Will def be back.

The food was authentic and not too greasy, making for a very pleasant dining experience. Sitting there, you naturally want to eat and chat slowly. It felt like a well-prepared home-cooked meal, making me want to come back. The service was good, and the atmosphere was nice. I'd definitely come back again.

Beef and broccoli of my dreams…read more.. Easily one of the best versions of this dish I've ever had. Tender beef, crisp-bright broccoli, and a glossy, savory sauce that clings to every bite. This one even had sweet, perfectly cooked carrots. The fried rice was also spot-on: silky egg, peas, carrots, and that familiar flavor so many of us love. Lunch specials run from 11-3 and come with soup, an egg roll, and your choice of rice or noodles. Portions are massive. My only issue, and unfortunately it's a big one, was the service. After taking my order, the gentleman serving me never returned to my table. I couldn't get sweet & sour sauce for my egg roll, and my water was never refilled. I raised my hand several times, but he walked by as if I wasn't there. Finally after waiting for over ten minutes when I was over it, I stood up hoping someone would notice and assume I was trying to leave without paying. That worked and I was immediately handed my check. Of course I still had to ask for a to-go container. The food alone is a 5 star rating, but the service brings the experience as a whole down to a 3. I love Chinese-American food, and this kitchen gets it. Not sure if my race or that I'm a woman was an issue, or if I just got the worst server they have. I hope this reaches the right person because I would like to come back but being ignored and feeling so unwelcome is disheartening.

OK I'm adding a star here up to four from my previous three star review. I was delighted to see…read morethat they had a tofu offering in the place where the green beans usually are. It was tofu and cauliflower. The tofu chunks were enormous and they were nicely seared on all sides. The sauce was flavorful and the veggies including cabbage were perfectly cooked. Well I may not have recognized the first time I came in is that their noodles appear to be udon! they were not open as I write this review so I couldn't call them but I did take a picture and give it to My BFF, "gemini" the trustee AI from Google: Gemini says: "1. Shanghai Style Thick Noodles (Cu Mian) This is the most likely culprit. In many Chinese "hot table" or buffet settings, they use a thick, wheat-based noodle called Cu Mian (literally "thick noodles"). * The Look: They are cylindrical and chewy, very similar to Udon. * The Difference: They are often a bit more "al dente" or dense compared to the bouncy, slippery texture of Japanese Udon. * Terminology: Even though they are thick, restaurants often label them "Chow Mein" simply because that's the term customers recognize for any fried noodle dish. 2. Lo Mein Noodles While most people associate Lo Mein with a medium-thickness flat noodle, some regional variations use a significantly thicker, rounder version. Because these are wheat-based and have absorbed that dark soy-based sauce, they can easily be mistaken for Udon. 3. "Frozen" or "Instant" Udon It is actually quite common for modern Chinese fusion spots to use Japanese Udon noodles because they hold up exceptionally well in a steam table (the "gizmo" you mentioned). They don't get mushy as quickly as thinner egg noodles, making them a practical choice for restaurants. How to tell for sure? If you want to investigate further without a language barrier, you can check the "bite": * Udon: Will be very white on the inside if you bite it in half, with a very springy, almost gummy "mochi-like" bounce. * Shanghai Noodles: Usually have a slightly more yellowish tint (even without eggs) and a firmer, more doughy center." so biting Intuit I do see a white center but then again I don't know if I've tried the other noodle types above so it could be. Whatever the case the experience is that of an udon noodle in my uneducated experience. I wrote another review for Jade Garden that goes into a little more detail and expands to talk about the ambience, which I describe as tight but cozy seating, over here on Nextdoor: https://nextdoor.com/p/pBwBSFyPjn42

I adore thai food, so decided to try the remaining thai spot we hadn't gone to yet. I had no idea it was in Kung Pao Hustle. (We didn't care for that spot.) But the pickup transaction was nice and friendly. They even gave us a local discount of $4.80 which was much appreciated. We actually wanted to order 2-3 other things not listed above. When we called, we had looked at their website and picked a bunch of items from their Thai Specialty section. Unfortunately that section did not exists anymore which was a bummer. I adore super spicy, fishy, strong flavors all mixed together which that portion seemed to offer. I called to place the takeout order, so it was funny how the guy on the phone was like, "Are you looking at our website?!" I guess they hadn't updated it yet. The curry was a good amount. A little thinner than I would like, but if you like a milder curry, you might have enjoyed this. For me, it was waaay too mild for their top spice level. I actually found everything lacking in heat for their spiciest level. For the papaya salad, I wish they pounded / grinded everything together. The flavors didn't come together with just the mixing of the ingredients. It was better the next day tho. I do see they have a lao style papaya salad, so curiosity may have me trying this spot again. Decent thai food if you don't like super strong flavors. Tho this is probably my least fav thai spot out of the three we've been to in tahoe. Everything was just too mild for me. REVIEW #3933
