Has anyone ever carefully looked at the multitude of beer and liquor promotions that are draped…read morearound ever liquor shop until they found their drink of choice or confirmed that their drink of choice was the right price? No one has ever said, "My favorite beer is one dollar more here! I'll take my business elsewhere." Maybe the store owners just use the promotions to block out what's on the inside. I've always had a slight fear of stores that blocked out their windows. Will it be a wonderful surprise or a trap? There's only one way to find out! I can't say that Lucky Liquor was a wonderful surprise, but it certainly wasn't a trap. As advertised, and posted on its promotions, there is beer and liquor, and I imagine smokes but those don't not interest me. The store layout is more function than form. No one is hanging out at Lucky Liquor. You're in and you're out. I imagine that's just what the owner wanted. We were fortunate enough to find a Sharkinator White IPA from Lost Coast Brewery at a great price. The cashier was nice. I'm not sure if I will make it back to Lucky Liquor but I did find a brewery to look for at the next grocery store.

We were visiting from out of town and meeting friends for lunch who lived locally…read more They asked us where we wanted to eat and my hubby picked cookd based on reviews. Our friends were excited to try it saying they hadn't been here before and were down to try a new to them place. We were all very happy with our lunch decision. Jack was our server- she was delightful. She has a wonderful personality. She is helpful with suggestions and available when needed, but we were able to have a wonderful visit with our friends without feeling hovered over. We started with the loaded tots app. Super yummy. I had the ciao bella sandwich- so good. I would come and eat this again. Hubby had the OG burger- it was cooked perfectly to his specifications My girlfriend had the spicy turkey melt- big enough for her to have lunch the next day too. Her hubby had the Tahoe burger also cooked perfectly We look forward to coming here again the next time we are in town. We loved the vibe here. They do have a daily happy hour everyday from 2-5 as well. Hope to see Jack on our next visit.

Very solid prices and great selection here at Aloha liquor…read more I stop by Aloha every once in awhile when I am looking for something unique or special to meet my indulgent needs. The beer selection here is massive and I can often browse for quite some time! There have been many visits to Aloha where I have my hands too full and have to put a few items back! Everything just looks that good! If I had to ask for one thing it would be more single serve options like build your own 6 pack or small cans/boxes of wine. Always nice to grab when you're hitting the park or beach. This is a great spot to pick up something special. Lots of great choices to browse and you won't leave her disappointed!

However, I feel like my experience was actually really great because I don't have that context or comparison in the back of my head. The menu is on the smaller side, but I think that just allows them to specialize in the items they do offer. I got a tuna sandwich, which I don't usually eat, but loved it here! The mayo was well spread throughout the tuna and again on the bread. It was hearty and filling, which is exactly what I was looking for. Friends got a turkey club, and they both said it blew them away. No one left any crumbs. The inside if the market was well-stocked with fun ingredients and items that make time pass quickly as you wait for your food. Water, hot sauces, and napkins are all ample and provided both inside and outside. Pricing is reasonable; coming from the Bay Area, you can end up paying way more for way less, but here, I felt like we paid the right amount for the right thing. Would come again when visiting this area!

I stopped in at the Dart Beverage Center today after my workout at the nearby Kahle Community…read moreCenter. Continuing down Kingsbury, I made a right instead of a left (towards the Casinos), and there it is. As the alternative was a longer drive to BevMo, I was pleased to find this place. The exterior reminded me of those liquor stores that previously defined a border of which folks would drive across State lines to buy cheap booze. Those days (and cheaper prices) might be long gone. Inside Dart is a very impressive selection of alcohol, particularly wine and hard alcohol. Considering it's proximity of Edgewood, the Casinos, and the Lake, that's kind of expected, with some focused inventory like their impressive selection of Japanese whiskey. One whole wall is refrigerated beer and considering my fatigue around IPAs, I was happy to find my favorite US Belgian-style ale (Brother Thelonious) and a robust Porter from Schussboom (Reno). My only quibble was that Dart's selections seem to be a little pricey. But what does one expect within a resort area? Maybe Nevada is cheaper in other places, if I compare Dart to a similar establishment like Aloha Discount Wine & Liquors in Carson City or Battle Born in Gardnerville. At the same time, I was happy to find what I found at the right time and place.

Buyer beware- I may have just purchased a tampered or forged bottle from this retailer…read more I purchased a boxed bottle of Armagnac as a present for my mom. When I checked it out, the cashier quickly removed it from the box and then put it back in. I figured this was a standard procedure. When I got to my mom's five minutes later, we opened it and saw that there was a slit around part of the capsule. It was done so that the top of the capsule could hinge up, and the cork stopper could be removed, and everything could be pressed down and look "normal." We took it back immediately, within fifteen minutes of purchase. The cashier- an older man with a gray beard and strong attitude- accused us of making the slit ourselves and insisted he had shown me the bottle before purchase. While he had taken it in and out of the box, he did not demonstrate to me that the capsule was not tampered with. I'm not sure if the store purchased this from a wholesaler who is selling them forged goods, or whether this is happening in store, or they accepted a returned and tampered bottle. But they refused to exchange it for us, and were aggressive and rude. We have been loyal customers for years, and do not plan to return again.

It's sad, as I like to support local business and shop small, but I believe that when you're going to get charged to use an ATM card, notice should be provided.
