Buyer beware- I may have just purchased a tampered or forged bottle from this retailer. I purchased a boxed bottle of Armagnac as a present for my mom. When I checked it out, the cashier quickly removed it from the box and then put it back in. I figured this was a standard procedure. When I got to my mom's five minutes later, we opened it and saw that there was a slit around part of the capsule. It was done so that the top of the capsule could hinge up, and the cork stopper could be removed, and everything could be pressed down and look "normal." We took it back immediately, within fifteen minutes of purchase. The cashier- an older man with a gray beard and strong attitude- accused us of making the slit ourselves and insisted he had shown me the bottle before purchase. While he had taken it in and out of the box, he did not demonstrate to me that the capsule was not tampered with. I'm not sure if the store purchased this from a wholesaler who is selling them forged goods, or whether this is happening in store, or they accepted a returned and tampered bottle. But they refused to exchange it for us, and were aggressive and rude. We have been loyal customers for years, and do not plan to return again. read more

Super disappointed in this store. Really expected to find more regional brews here. And a larger 'singles' fridge. No on all accounts. While the store is huge, it's really ideal for big parties or if you need hard liquor. Customer service was below average-perhaps a bit abrasive when I asked about single cans. Small-ish parking lot. Hard pass on this one. read more

Bait & switch. Plain & simple Looking for a bottle shop with a variety of craft beers available in the South Lake Tahoe area, I came across Dart Beverage Center. But... https://dartbeverage.com/features#mixmatch There it is. Right on their own website. Mix & match. I was really looking forward to putting together my own custom 6-pack of craft beer cans. Too bad that's not truly an option here, after all. Almost every single section of their beer coolers (except for 2) had a sign on the doors stating the beers could not be used for mix & match. Ummm, that's not the information on your website. The same information that was the primary reason for me to come here in the 1st place. I left empty-handed. While they were nice enough to let me use their restroom, make no mistake, there is no "ultimate mix & match" here like they claim on their website read more

I stopped in at the Dart Beverage Center today after my workout at the nearby Kahle Community Center. Continuing down Kingsbury, I made a right instead of a left (towards the Casinos), and there it is. As the alternative was a longer drive to BevMo, I was pleased to find this place. The exterior reminded me of those liquor stores that previously defined a border of which folks would drive across State lines to buy cheap booze. Those days (and cheaper prices) might be long gone. Inside Dart is a very impressive selection of alcohol, particularly wine and hard alcohol. Considering it's proximity of Edgewood, the Casinos, and the Lake, that's kind of expected, with some focused inventory like their impressive selection of Japanese whiskey. One whole wall is refrigerated beer and considering my fatigue around IPAs, I was happy to find my favorite US Belgian-style ale (Brother Thelonious) and a robust Porter from Schussboom (Reno). My only quibble was that Dart's selections seem to be a little pricey. But what does one expect within a resort area? Maybe Nevada is cheaper in other places, if I compare Dart to a similar establishment like Aloha Discount Wine & Liquors in Carson City or Battle Born in Gardnerville. At the same time, I was happy to find what I found at the right time and place. read more

4.5 STARS Date: Sunday, July 28th, 2024 Time: around 12pm Great selection of alcohol. Just look at the Macallans in my pic! Tho if you are looking for more run of the mill liquor, it may be better going to a chain store such as BevMo. We price compared a 1.5 liter of Monkey Shoulder and it was cheaper at BM. If you are looking for menthol smokes (which are banned in CA), you can get them here. You can also get the contact info for the owner and email him beforehand to make sure they have enough cartons if you are stocking up. One of the better liquor stores I've been to. Friendly merchants. Didn't have exactly what I wanted but had other products similar to what I was looking for to make Bloody Marys.

Hands down the best liquor store I've ever been to. There's a ton of different kinds of liquor from all of the world. The price is also reasonable. The staff is friendly and helpful read more

When my girlfriend who lives in Napa (land of beverage life!) says.... lets stop at Dart because they have everything, well, you just trust it. We didn't snap any pictures unfortunately, but they did in fact, have a bunch. We went in looking at ciders to begin with..... but left with.... Her favorite - ÉTOILE ROSÉ by Chandon + Carolina Reaper Chips (random, I know....) It was a mixed bag of goodies, but I would DEFINITELY return here when visiting the area. Thank you to the staff! read more

Great selection!! You can find almost any whiskey that you would like. Would definitely stop in on my next trip to Tahoe.

Rudest jerk in Tahoe. Terrible customer service. Way overpriced. You will be way better off going to the Bijou Safeway or BevMo at the Y. Using proximity and convenience to overcharge people and treat them like trash. read more

I don't think I've been in a liquor store quite like this one in a long time. The choices for purchase ranged from Mad Dog 20/20 to $300 bottles of Joseph Phelps Insignia. Everyone is going to be happy in your group. read more

My wife and I stopped in Dart Beverage Center after a day of snowboarding on the Nevada side of Heavenly. Instead of blowing our money on 18 dollar pours of whatever they happened to have at the Boulder/Stagecoach lodges we came here and were treated to great prices and even better selection! Well stocked and maintained with a diverse inventory of beer, liquor and even wine. Staff were friendly and helpful with some great recommendations. There was even a small bar in the back of the store with a handful of drafts, though it was unfortunately not open when we were there... maybe next time! read more

Literally the best liquor store I've ever been to. The beer selections are amazing! They have single beers, cases of beers, and on tab beer for growlers. The wine selection is much better than pretty much anywhere else in Tahoe, and the liquor selection is pretty standard. I'm quite amazed by the beer selection and just can get over it. We found our go to for beer in Tahoe! If your a craft person like we are it is a must. read more

One of the most unprofessional businesses I have ever dealt with. A worker their named Moses just called me a f*cking B*ch and kicked me out for questioning their prices. I've lived in this town for 12 years and will NEVER go there again and hope you don't either. They should be ashamed to have him on the payroll. *Edit* see owners comment below! Perfect example of what I meant. read more

Great selection, but pricey. I only stopped in to look at bourbon, but I had a bit of sticker shock. They had an excellent variety of traditional bourbons, a good selection of "specialty" bourbons, and some pretty hard-to-find gems behind the counter. As the rarity of the bourbon increased, so did the mark-up from MSRP. I'd feel good buying anything in the under $50 range, and possibly in the $50-$100 if I was a big fan and planning to drink it while in town. (Frequent traveller from out of town) read more

Ok... has to be the best beer and alcohol selection I have ever seen. No need to go to any grocery store, must go to the Dart for all of your Adult beverage needs. Good place to stop in route to lake, grab a couple 6 packs and some ice... you will be set. read more

I've been here quite a few times of the last few years but after my visit yesterday I just can put myself through another visit. Everything in this store is so overpriced it's not funny. This isn't because their store is in South Lake Tahoe, it's because they are the most greedy people in South Lake Tahoe. It's really too bad because they carry a lot of stuff. Anytime a bottle of liquor is noted as good by some magazine or website Dart doubles or tripples the price they have it listed for. Just walk down an isle here and then head over to BevMo to compare. I could give you quite a few examples of price gouging but this one is my favorite and I'll share. Behind the counter they have a bunch or rare/allocated stuff, to get it they sell a bunch of other stuff. Think $5 bottles of vodka to tourists. Anyway, yesterday they had a few bottles of Elmer T. Lee behind the counter. It comes around every year to most liquor stores in the area, MSRP is $40ish. Most stores sell it for $50 with a few going as high as $100. Dart's price? $250. I get that you want to rip off some unsuspecting tourist but what the holy hell? Whole store is setup like this, even the beer. Save yourself some dignity and drive down to BevMo by the Y or even Safeway. Pretty much anywhere you go will leave you feeling better about your life decisions. read more

A long time ago I was in NYC and asked to bum a cigarette from someone and he told me "if I open this pack and there happens to be 21 or 22 cigarettes, then you can have one". I understood the struggle of $10 packs back then, but it's finally hit here in California and on my recent trip to Tahoe I crossed that state line to pick up some mere $6.50 packs before returning home. Nice big lot, though unpainted lines, it's really more of just that a lot. It almost looks 2 stories, but it's not. The inside is typical regional liquor décor with a strange beer cooler entrance and a whiskey tasting bar in the back. The isles are clearly marked by style and the selection is excellent. The staff was also very nice and wasn't beaten down by the unending stream of bums people have to deal with like in Reno. I really expected more local offerings, but something that was nice was there wasn't this dust that most liquor stores have on bottles that don't move very quickly like Benedictine for instance. Since many of the spirits and mixers I use in my drinks can not be found at a typical grocery store I'm positive I'd be coming here often if I lived in the area. read more

I LOVE Dart Beverage! This is one of my first stops whenever I arrive in South Lake Tahoe (for obvious reasons). It's like a big candy store, but with booze!!--and so much more, as previous reviewers have noted. While I was in this past weekend I was in search for one of my favorite beers, Anderson Valley Summer Solstice. Yes, I know what season this. But I was previously able to find it here in late September. The staff member (do not recall his name) stated they didn't have Summer in, but THRY did have Winter Solstice on tap. He said this more than a few times. I thought to myself, why would I want to drink a good beer here in the store and not be able to take it back to my room? Suddenly the gentleman had to help out with some things up at the register, so had another guy come and help ne out. After helping me browse through several beers I hasn't really heard of, he recommended, "If you plan on drinking it tonight, you can always buy a growler"... A WHAT-err? We walked over to their little "bar" area where they showcase several different beers... on tap. After tasting a few, I decided on the Winter Solstice for sure. I fell in love with the idea of having a 64oz growler filled with this creamy, decadent beer! Plus, it's now a souvenir I can bring back to Dart's anytime for a refill. GREAT idea! In typical Tahoe fashion, the staff is nice to work with... And once you get the vibes going you start to hit it off and feel like new friends. Can't wait to visit again on my next trip to south shore! read more

We were able to get backwoods for $6.99+tax a pack and they are normally $8 or more in Sac so we saved a little money. We noticed u can also order mixed drinks & refill ur growlers all at the store. Going to keep this very short and to the point. Fantastic selection of everything, from wine, liquor, and beer, almost overwhelming. Great layout of product, easy to navigate the different sections. From the IPA beers and vodka I frequently buy, prices were what I expected, didn't seem like they were absurdly marked up. Service was great, the woman working was very helpful. This is a 5 star package all day, if I lived in the area this would be my go to place. Highly recommend for locals and tourists visiting Lake Tahoe area. Only small downside I can see is parking in the front is a little limited IMO. read more

Extensive selection of hard to find craft beers. Quickly browsed the other items, and it would appear they have much to offer in the wind and liquor department as well. Huge selection of beers! Not too often you get to shop and buy only 1 bottle if you choose. This place has a big selection then you look around and there's more over in the corner! Great beer selection; they really had a great variety of west coast beers and neat that they let you pick and choose to make your own 6 packs. The get two stars because they have a great selection. That's it. I read another review and the guy hit it on the head...these people are GREEDY. It would behoove some of their employees to take a business ethics and communications 101 course down at LT Community college. Awful business people and they don't care about the customer. Do you want to retain business? Then stop charging an arm and a leg even if you think "you can." It's pompous to act all high and mighty just because you have rare expensive bottles of booze behind the counter and you're charging 5-10x MSRP. Even when times are tough (like they are now) it would be nice if the employees treated the customers with some respect and decency. They don't do that and I'd rather bring my business elsewhere...you should too. Safeway & Raley's is 5 min away as are tons of other liquor stores who will treat you with the respect you deserve.
