Of course we always try to make it here for the Chilibeso beer. We grabbed a seat and anxiously asked our waiter Colton for a cold pint. He sadly announced they were out. We were so disappointed...so he asked the boss if we could buy from the counter...but alas, that is considered to be illegal. He then said the boss said a pint of anything else was on the house! Wow! What a great business to take care of the customer. We ordered some Nashville chicken fingers and fries and the Kung pao Brussels on happy hour....Food arrived and it was really good...most specifically the Brussels were amazing! My friends band was playing at the GBB on Friday night, we got there early to get a table outside! Jacob was our server and he was phenomenal!!! One of the best ever!!! My favorite bartenders Anthony was working so I would pop in and say hi to him! I always order the Jalapeño crusted chicken salad, which is my favorite without tomatoes cubed chicken with extra dressing. All was great but no extra dressing. My husband decided to have the happy hour ribs and chicken wings. The ribs were so tough, you could barely chew them and the chicken wings were meatless and cold neither one I would recommend. The best part about the night was my friend's music and the Great Basin beer!! If you haven't seen Ventura Highway they are a tribute to the band America and Verlin Gunnels opens for them! This is my favorite spot for lunch (with beer of course) of late. The outdoor seating is so relaxing and lovely, and pretty quiet. My friend and I came here several times after a hike, and we really enjoyed the meal, beer, and the atmosphere. The server Jacob P. is our favorite. He's really kind and attentive. Food-wise, the cob salad is fresh and satisfying, the Pan Asian Noodle Salad is excellent, lettuce wrap goes really well with beer. I'm sure we'll frequent here for after-hike lunch! read more

I was there a few days ago and prior to this day, I wrote a review in 2018. Placing this aside, what happened to the food preparation at the GB Brewery? I was thoroughly disappointed with my patyy melt. No flavor, a hamburger patty that resembled a turtle. It was thick, dry and was overwhelmed by the lightly buttered grilled bread. My point being that the food at the GB has been a lot better in the past. Was this an off day? I sure hope so. The beer is still great. Love the Icky and the Outlaw. read more

Another restaurant I've come to many times over the years, and surprisingly have not reviewed! I've been visiting this Great Basin location for well over 20 years and am happy it's still here. It's my go to spot whenever I'm in Victorian square and one of my favorites in the summer when you can sit on the patio, especially if there is some live music playing. On this particular visit, my wife and I came in for a late lunch. It wasn't very crowded and we were seated quickly and our server was attentive throughout the meal. Everything was great, I ordered the French Dip with fries, and my wife ordered the burger with fries. I will say, adding the extras on the french dip is not recommended for me as it was harder to dip an I think it actually took away from the goodness of the french dip experience. Not a negative, just a tip! Great Basin is always here when I need it, and it's a staple of the Reno Sparks area with their beer and food. Look forward to the next visit soon! read more

This Great Basin used to be a regular hangout amongst my girlfriends and I in our early 20's. Since then everyone has gotten married and had children. Those meet ups are usually only around the holidays when schedules permit, but we still love an occasional lunch here. My most recent visit was last week for lunch. Colton was our server and was awesome. He was just the right amount of attentive without hovering. I love their nachos here and knew with my entree I had to order the smaller portion to make room for my pumpkin beer and patty melt. They were just as I remembered them. I'm glad we ordered them without meat. All were tasty, but I felt the cowboy burger was a little too saucey and my patty melt was over cooked, but not inedible. Good option to eat at any night of the week! Our server was really efficient and had a good sense of humor. All drinks and meals were 100% accurate and came out nice and hot. I had the 50/50 burger. It was so good! Had a perfect charcoal flavor and cooked to perfection. The side of garlic fries were okay. They just tasted like regular fries to me though and the bottom of the dish was pretty oily. I'm sure others love them though. The restaurant is self was tidy. They were actually fairly busy on a Sunday evening. Everyone was taken care of it seemed but there was a bit of a wait to be seated due to not having a hostess. This is a perfect option for any night of the week or grabbing a bite to eat before catching a movie down the street at Victorian Galaxy. Recommend! read more

Popped in for dinner. I reviewed their menu before going. Great selections. We were able to be seated quickly even though it was busy. The wait staff was friendly and energetic. I opted for the Mac n cheese topped with pork belly. Fabulous choice, paired with the bread. So cheesy and delicious My husband chose the Basin burger and fries. The burger was so juicy and cooked to perfection. The noise level was ridiculous. Couldn't even have a conversation without having to repeat myself. It was only recently I espied, off hwy 80, a magnificient tribute to the mining history of Nevada, 36' tall Last Chance Joe. It was Joe that brought me and my luncheon ladies to Victorian Ave for a visit. A few feet away we happened upon Great Basin Brewery and dined. In a nutshell, service, food and ambiance were fantastic. I ordered the chipotle chicken pasta and the chef didn't hold back on the chipolte's in the sauce. The portion was so large I was able to enjoy leftovers for 2 more meals. Please note, if you'd like to try a couple of their beers before ordering one, ask for a "taste" not a "sample", as tastes are free. I never get excited about a French dip but this was the best French dip we both had. I ordered a chili beer. Just a little kick not too spicy and refreshing. For food I ordered an ahi sandwich with fries. The ahi was cooked perfectly. The sandwich comes with slaw and wonton chips and brioche bun. Delish!!! We truly enjoyed both the meal/drinks and band. I came here with my family after a day out at the river. I had the Chicken, Bacon and Avocado Sandwhich on a Pretzel Brioche with French Fries. Everything was so yummy! My sandwhich had a special sauce that was so tasty and the fries were crispy, just the way I like them. It was a perfect choice. Our Server was also excellent. Nice brewery just outside of Reno in Sparks. The food is absolutely delicious. We tried the nachos, Mac attack burger and stuffed jalapeños. Hubby loved the burger and said it's the best burger he's ever had and seasoned to perfection. The nachos were very good and the stuffed jalapeño's were delicious. I tried the spicy jalapeño beer. It was okay I'm not a big beer drinker and the heat was nice but for me the underlying flavor was just like a Budweiser. There are no porters or ciders. They do have wine and a bar though. On our last visit we both ordered the french dip. I got the basic version and she got the upgrade with the beer cheese, green onions and peppers. I would recommend getting the upgrade because mine was a little bland and the au jus didn't really help. It definitely looked better than it tasted. My wife ordered the garlic fries and they weren't anywhere near as good as they were back in the day.
