Veggie burger and fries with a non alcoholic Blue Moon
    Brittanie R.

I was staying next door at the lodge. It was superbowl Sunday, so I decided to pop into the tavern to watch a bit of the game and eat. I was incredibly hungry from my long drive. They had non alcoholic BlueMoon which was really cool. They had about 4 total non alcoholic beers, the rest were IPAs, not my taste, but cool they have them! I asked if they had veggie patties and they did! So I got a veggie burger with fries. It was really delicious. The bun was good and warm and the fries were season really well. The bartenders were super kind, social and overall welcoming! I would definitely go back next time I am in Markleeville Parking free and plenty, lot's of seating inside also.

Well we returned here on a 225 mile motorcycle ride today across Sonora and Monitor Passes. Like the old Cutthroat (pre owner change) we found the service exemplary. Our server was awesome. I'm a wing nut so I ordered the buffalo wings along with the fried pickles. The wings were great, extra crispy as I ordered and sauced well. Cooked perfectly, moist on the inside with that crispy skin that's a must. The pickles are 1/4 sliced and breaded but not too thick of breading. Fried to a light golden tan the pickles were juicy and tasty. I am so happy they are open again as it's a biker destination for decades and now the legend continues. Best of luck to the new owners. Opening up new always takes time to get things dialed in but today ran smooth and we'll 100% be back. 5 stars today!

    Fish and Chips

We had already eaten lunch, but my husband's bike group decided to stop by Cutthroat Tavern to relax and plan their upcoming ride. I shared a fish and chips with my husband--crispy, tasty, and just right for a light bite. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were genuinely warm and attentive. A great local spot to unwind, catch up, and fuel up--whether you're biking through or just passing by.

    Single cheeseburger with fries

Went here after hearing it reopened. Looks like it's going pretty good here. Very crowded for lunch today but had a full staff working. I had the fish and chips. Large pieces of really good fish with potato wedges for fries. Comes also with cole slaw. Huge portion and should have split with my wife. She had the single cheeseburger medium rare. The patty could have been a little larger. However they offered a double burger for just $3 more. Hoping for all to go good and keep this landmark open and alive again. FYI full bar liquor license available now.

Super friendly staff, family run. Had some great bbq while listening to a bluegrass band. The place is tastefully renovated to be family friendly. Full of friendly locals. The owners told us about the history of the place. Will be back.

Fish taco with little fish on it

We and our friends went to Cutthroat tavern and got a appetizer of pretzel bites and an entrée of chicken tenders and fish tacos. The chicken tenders were burnt and dry. When we got the fish tacos there were literally 2 inches of fish on it so I do not recommend going here. As a customer who has been here a lot of time very disappointing.

Sorry for the presentation was too good.

The interior is dimly lit, calm, and still very inviting--something you really have to experience in person. The drinks and mocktails are so well crafted that it's almost shocking--you take a sip, then look back at the menu like, "Wait... that's all it cost?" and then back at the bartender like, "Hold on... you made this perfectly for me?" We sat at the bar top and, like everyone else, got caught up in our phones trying to post everything in real time. But Amanda, who was making our drinks, could spark a conversation out of thin air. She was a total pro at keeping us engaged and enjoying our time, all while making drinks and taking care of everyone else around us.

The atmosphere itself is on the smaller side, but it fits the cozy, hidden speakeasy vibe perfectly. That being said, the pricing is a bit tough to swallow. I ordered a drink for $22 that tasted good, but overall, the drinks here are just way too expensive for what you get. They also had live music playing during our visit; it was good lounge background music that added a nice vibe to the room, but it wasn't anything spectacular or something to get overly excited about. It's a cool spot to check out for the ambiance, but the high drink prices keep it at a flat three stars for me.

He mentioned they had an outdoor firepit and thought I would like it. When we were deciding on dinner, I said we should finally check it out. We walked in and sat ourselves at a high top. It's a combo of go up to the cash register and order plus a server will come and help you out while they deliver the food. Overall food wise, I thought everything was fine. The dip was cheesy. The peppers a little too salty. The salad fulfilled that green craving tho I found the dressing and cheese a lil too heavy handed. And the soup was the comfort I needed on a cold day. I found the fish to be a little heavier in batter than I prefer, but I like most things very lightly battered. The cocktail I got was nice. Balanced and refreshing. Their sangria was on tap, so they just filled up the glass. I did enjoy going outside after we were done eating to hang out around the firepit. Ran into another party of people and we chatted for a bit. We actually brought our drinks outside to enjoy as It was quite chilly that evening. Food was fine. Cocktails were nice. Definitely would go back for the outdoor firepit. REVIEW #3970
