I know I rated this spot low at 3.5 stars initially, based on quality/taste of food and value, but I came back to show my MIL around town. I very easily could have brought my rating up to a solid 4 stars because the food I ordered this time around was delicious! I got their roast beef panini special with potato salad and their dalgona iced coffee. I also, tried a croissant and apple danish. All items exceeded my expectations compared to the previous breakfast items I had in previous visits. But, here's the kicker. The one star is due to CHASELIN'S/CHAS-LYNN'S (spelling) egregious customer service. From the moment we stepped in she greeted us with crossed arms and no smile. Right away, MAJOR ATTITUDE. She was very frank and short with us as if she didn't want to be bothered. She frankly directed us to the menus and spoke so fast as if she was just over having to repeat the same thing over and over to customers walking in. It took a while for my MIL and I to decide on what we wanted when a guy came in behind us. With the biggest attitude, she impatiently asks, "Are you guys ready?" We weren't. She goes, "Well, I'm gonna take care of this guy first." OK, fine. We stepped aside. We finally placed our order and I was curious to try their pastries. I asked CHASELIN (spelling) what pastries she recommended. With such an attitude she goes, "Well, do you like muffins? danishes?" As if I was wasting her time to answer my question. I told her, "Not muffins." She right away turned to the special board and read verbatim "We have an apple and cherry danish". I can read. I didn't need for her to read the board to me. I asked, "WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?" Her response, "Well, they're 2 different fruits, so it's really just preference. " REALLY??! NO SHIT they're 2 different fruits. My response, "OK, so you don't recommend anything. Got it." Both my husband and I are in the hospitality industry and we are very attuned to what excellent customer service is. My husband and I looked at each other with astonishment at how rude and impolite this girl was. It was evident she didn't want to be there and her attitude was completely uncalled for and just plain RUDE! With that attitude she needs to be in the back of the house, not the front. Whatever "at home issues" you're having, keep it at home! We have nothing to do with your personal problems. For the amount of money we spent on lunch $51+ for 2 ppl, not including the mimosas my husband purchased, I would expect even the most basic courteous customer service. TO THE OWNER OF THIS BUSINESS: I highly recommend training or re-training your employees on basic customer service or filter out your bad apples. It's not a good look for you. read more

We rode our bikes to this adorable Cafe from Gardnerville. It was a great place to stop and have some brunch. The place is very nicely decorated with clean restrooms and plenty of seating inside and out. Everyone was very friendly and our food came out within about 10 minutes. We ordered the eggs scramble and put in the items that we wanted to customize it. The eggs were cooked perfectly. We also got a mocha and a muffin. Both were very tasty. We would definitely come here again in order the same things. I believe this is a relatively new place and we hope they do well. The little Main Street is adorable with lots of history. read more

A cute coffee shop in the charming town of Genoa! I loved the bee-themed decor, the cozy front porch and patio seating, and the little kids' area for parents. It's also right next to a cute bookstore, which makes for the perfect combo. I ordered the Salty Cowgirl, made Americano-style with salted caramel on the bottom and cherry cold foam on top. The cold foam was a little light on flavor, and the coffee wasn't as bold as I expected--it was definitely on the sweeter side. But once I mixed it together, it was really good. Very cute coffee/ ice cream/ bar in the tiny town of Genoa, NV. The food and the people were very nice. I enjoyed the bee theme so much I forgot to take pictures of the food. . We had breakfast tacos and I especially enjoyed the stinger smoothie made with lemon raspberry sorbet and vodka. I was amazed that I was allowed to take it to go. But when in Rome. Stopped in here for a small bite to eat and some morning caffeine. I ordered the local queen bee iced and the Genoa sandwich. Both were delicious! The queen bee has local honey in it and is so good! The Genoa sandwich had ham and Swiss with aioli and veggies on toasted Parmesan sourdough bread and was also really good. Today it was Flutter and Buzz that got us moving, and who knew that the menu was so varied that would have something for both of us We just walked 1.3 miles from Wally's Hot Springs and it was a very sunny day. We were parched and offered a pitcher of water while we waited for our food order. We enjoyed it very much. Curious about the food? We had scrambled eggs with a variety of vegetables and white, sharp cheddar cheese, splendid in. It was delightful. We also shared a blueberry muffin, a Mediterranean avocado toast, and we enjoyed a bowl of fruit as well. The environment was very casual and welcoming. On this visit, we sat on the porch at a table for two and enjoyed the view of downtown Genoa as we ate our breakfast. This establishment let you know that there's more than just a bar in Genoa. This place is the cutest and has really comfortable seating inside and outside. Their menu is a bit confusing they have one menu for food, one menu for coffee, and one menu for alcohol. They then have a few items on a digital menu. We ordered the pollinator sandwich, the Mediterranean avocado toast with a poached egg added($3 extra for the egg) the salty cowgirl coffee, and a hibiscus blueberry iced tea with honey. The Parmesan crusted sourdough on both the sandwich and avocado toast was so delicious. The toppings on the sandwich were fresh but I think it needed a bit more hummus or some type of aioli as it was kind of dry. The avocado on the toast seemed to be some type of premade spread as it didn't have much flavor. This was confusing because all of the other ingredients were extremely fresh. Also on the avocado toast- avocado should be the star of the dish - and unfortunately that wasn't the case. If it was advertised this way I would have gladly paid extra for actual fresh slices of avocado. The egg was poached perfectly which was impressive! The salty cowgirl was the perfect blend of salty and sweet. The tea was refreshing and had a unique and delicious flavor. Overall for the four items it was $50 before tip so it was a bit pricey but also expected for Genoa. They charge 3% for paying with a credit card which I didn't see anywhere (I could have missed it because I wasn't looking for it) but it was on my receipt. Will probably try this place again but won't get the avocado toast unless there is an upgrade! read more

My best friend recently had her bridal shower there. I am her maid of honor. We got there a little early because we traveled about 5 hours to celebrate, and so we could help set up. The employees were rude. My best friend's grandma and her friends were there too. They asked if they could sit down because it was over 100 degrees. They were basically saying I guess they could sit down. It is hot, and they are 80 years old. Not only that but my mom asked if she could keep the cupcakes she made inside and the gift she made including a towel cake with my best friend's favorite candies and favorite gatorade. They gave her permission to leave it inside because of the weather. My mom went to go grab the gift and cupcakes. My mom's gift was gone. They threw it away and didn't apologize and made us dig through their trash cans to get it back. All of the chocolates were melted. The bridal shower was supposed to be 2-5. Everyone in the party was ready to leave before 3. We left around 3:30. Yes, we did arrive early, but most of us were not your average guests. Our group included the bride's family and a few members of the bridal party. Many of us had traveled from out of state specifically to attend her bridal shower. When we arrived early, we were greeted by a very helpful employee who acknowledged the weather and kindly offered us a glass of ice water. She also directed us where to place the gift and cupcakes, which was near a small stand by the doorway to the hallway. We followed her instructions and left both items exactly where we were told. When we returned to retrieve the cupcakes and gift, we discovered that they had been moved. Unfortunately, only one item had actually been relocated--the cupcakes--while the other, the gift, had been thrown away. We do want to acknowledge that another employee was very helpful and took the time to walk with us to the trash bins to show us where the gift may have been discarded. Unfortunately, because of the extreme heat, the bride's favorite chocolates that were part of the gift had melted by that point. We completely understand that arriving early may have been outside of your normal guest schedule. Our concern is not simply that the items were moved, but that one of them was discarded after we had been specifically directed where to leave them. The establishment looked like a house complete with a porch and stair leading up to the door. When we entered the place it had the comforts similar to like having brunch in a cozy comfortable seating enjoying a cup of joe by a fire, at a table, or on the patio. The vibe was very welcoming and positive. Lots of natural lighting from the many windows. I love the homey and comfort feeling. Couldn't decide if we wanted a savory breakfast or breakfast sweet treats, lunch sandwich or soup & salad. After browsing through the electronic scrolling menu screen we placed our orders at the bar counter. We decided on a Build-Your-Own Scramble with add on options of bacon crumbles, mushroom, spinach, tomatoes and cheese. We picked a table inside the café then shortly after our food was served. The breakfast was delicious, light and tasty... I should've gotten the 3-eggs (I ordered 2 eggs). Flutter & Buzz is a new Breakfast and Lunch Cafe that is located where the Genoa Station Bar & Grille once stood. Gayle and I met for coffee and a nosh this morning with a couple family friends. The new Cafe space has lots of light, room, and light colors. On the other side of the building (and sharing a common door) is the Genoa Wellness Spa. I had previously read with interest in the Record-Courier regarding their Genoa Historic District-related improvements (via the Little Brown Book). Upon entering, the menu was easy to find as it is up up on the screen in front. After ordering at the counter, we took a seat and had our order delivered to our table. The person at the counter informed us that they've only been open a couple weeks and are still working through some of the menu details. One early suggestion that they implemented was having tomato soup available if someone ordered one of their grilled cheese sandwiches. Bakery item sourcing is also in progress, although I found my heated up danish to be quite tasty. Coming soon will be the liquor license, including wine and beer. Gayle and I will definitely be back as we enjoyed our experience and are looking forward to digging through the menu a bit more. And right now, it's one of the few places to get coffee as early as 8 AM in the morning, unless you live here. read more

What can I say about flutter and buzz? Walked in expecting just a coffee shop much to my surprise. They had a phenomenal breakfast and lunch menu, cocktails as well. The owner and the manager both were extremely friendly asking where we're from, how our day was , and if we needed any recommendations for anything. Drinks and food were both top shelf. After all the positive reviews we've been reading about the Flutter & Buzz Cafe, we decided to make the drive across the valley to see what all the flutter & buzz was about...! Located right across from the Genoa Bar on the main street of downtown Genoa, Nevada the restaurant had a nice piece of real estate with some great views of the Sierra Nevada mountains and the quaint & historic downtown. The inside has a digital menu advertising the drinks and a chalk board boasting specials and some printed menus to peruse their eats. My wife and I were both in the mood for breakfast and both chose the pictured Breakfast Boat Croissant which was a flaky buttery croissant (the boat) filled with fluffy scrambled eggs, fresh bacon bits, white onion and melted cheddar cheese. Fantastic! The other menu item which almost swayed me to order lunch instead was their assortment of grilled cheese sandwiches paired with some tomato bisque. A friendly lady took our order and we were given a number to bring back to our selected table. The server quickly brought out our drinks and food, checking up on us twice before we left. This new cafe is warm, welcoming with the friendliest staff that have great recommendations! Stopped in for a mid morning cup of coffee and was pleasantly surprised with a bright, open space with cute nooks to sit and chat or read, lots of outlets for device plug in. The menu has many unique options you won't find in another shop, but I will be back for another cup of coffee and lunch soon. Both baristas were incredibly rude and condescending to me and my friends. They proceeded to have their own conversation about private matters while taking our order, and took extra long to ring us up. We were the only ones in line. After they took our order and told us to move away from the bar - completely empty and not a reserved seating area - we proceeded to watch them treat five other elderly customers with the same condescension, disrespect, and contradictory instructions. After an unnecessary amount of time, barista finally brought our drinks up to the bar (the bar they told us to move away from) and we left. I love flutter and buzz for their location, ambiance and coffee but the food is a huge no for me. I've tried breakfast from them twice now and both times it was inedible due to a weird chemical taste on the toasted bread. About 6 months ago I tried their cowboy bagel sandwich and it had this strange butane, lighter fluid flavor on the bagel. I ended up tossing it and assuming it was a one off. Today we went back and I ordered the avocado toast... same weird flavor. It was also very clearly some pre made avocado spread. For the price I would have hoped for some fresh avocado. I ended up taking two bites and tossing it then making my own at home. I came to look at the reviews to see if anyone else was noticing this chemical flavor in hopes the owners would see and change however they toast their bread. Aside from this, I'm sure the food would be pretty good. 10/10 on the coffee so if the food was better we would go a lot more often. read more
