The food was so delicious and the service was fast and super friendly. Everything was exactly as advertised.

I think they try too hard to be 'fancy' the chicken fried steak gravy had thyme in it, which just didn't work. Keep it simple.

Food was reasonably priced for how much food you receive, & the house coffee was super delish! He had the "Pavement Scraper." I was impressed by the lack of grease I saw on his plate, despite there being 4 meats, including chorizo. He said flavor was good, just hoped for a little salsa for more moisture. (However, the table did have Cholula or Tabasco, if desired.) For my Omelette Savoyarde, potatoes were thin-sliced, cooked beautifully, & complimented the gruyere. The bacon was also finely chopped with no major, fatty chunks, which I appreciated. I didnt realize since the omelet contained potatoes, I was also getting more potatoes on the side! However, no worries, as I took those home for leftovers because the omelet was plenty to fill me up. Overall, our experience was pleasant. read more

Been here for over 30 years. Loved (can't emphasize this enough) the original Woodett's at the old location with the previous owners. After the move and new ownership its been all downhill and now dragging rock bottom. The old original menu, food quality, and quantity was amazing. Original amazing recipes have been modified and reduced to something unrecognizable and more notably inedible. The Hash for example, used to be sliced potatoes cooked to perfection with many options, a heaping portion a normal person could not fully consume in one sitting. New version, a small pile of burnt to a crisp out of the bag hash browns that was beyond disgusting and inedible. Who in their right mind would morph what was an undoubtably high margin masterpiece? I will submit that the scrambled eggs (now provided on the side) were average. All said and done, $50 of pure disappointment and dissatisfaction for two people looking for something mildly satisfying. I'm not going to even comment on the other persons order, I'm not writing a book. Summary, do way better, it's not really that difficult. The previous owners did it extremely well. Maybe reach out to them for some advice, bring them on as consultants and thrive. read more

Wow, this was bad. Years ago we went to Woody's in Carson City often and it was great. Woody, as I heard at the time started Woodett's for his wife when he retired and it also was great. We live 25 or so miles away so we have not been back in years. We will not be back now period. My wife and I each ordered biscuits and grave combo with two eggs and bacon. I wonder if they ever eat their own food. I thought they gave us soft English muffins under the gravy but my wife says they were some kind of biscuit but I don't care because they were bad. The gravy was a off white goo that had the texture and flavor of paste with like they use for paste in Kindergarten. It was some premix stuff which I assume you were to flavor with sausage or other meat but they did not. No amount of salt and pepper could fix it. My wife's eggs were served with one of the eggs broken and served hard we ordered over easy. The bacon was thick but lightly cooked. However their coffee was good and they may have other dishes that are better but color us gone. read more

A friend invited me to meet him at Woodett's Diner for breakfast a few days ago. I've been on this biscuits and gravy kick for about a month now and decided to order the biscuits and gravy. It was good. One biscuit was on the dry side but they gave me plenty of gravy to soak up the biscuits. The biscuits and gravy came with a side of eggs and two strips of bacon. It was good and filling. Even though I tried, I couldn't finish it all. My kid ordered off the kid's menu and got the pancakes. He really liked it. He always likes pancakes though. The place was clean and the service was excellent. The next time I'm in the area, I'll try something different. I've been told that their huevos rancheros was good. She then said the ticket was lost and bumped our order to the front. 10 minutes later, food came out in stages. Neither waitress nor manager were as apologetic as they should have been. Went in for breakfast one morning, not crowded(only three other tables, chef talking at table near me to what looked like a couple of friends as it was lengthy). I was pretty nervous to try here after seeing some of the reviews, but there were also quite a few positive so figured I would give it a try. The service was kind, and the areas were all clean. I loved the vibe, & really wanted to love the food. Unfortunately, it fell short. The waitress (who again was very kind) took our order without writing anything down which I wouldn't think anything of it but something was wrong with both my husbands order and my own. My husband pointed out his and she was quick to fix the problem & apologetic. I didn't mention mine because she seemed busy and it wasn't a huge deal. (I ordered my French toast with the strawberries add on, it arrived with a blueberry compote.) It didn't take long for our order to be taken, but it did take quite a while for it to come out. People who were seated well after we ordered got their food first, so I'm unsure what happened but again, not a huge deal, we are on vacation so not in a rush. The French Toast was good. The sausage was terribly overcooked, not good at all, & the potatoes, although they had a good flavor, arrived cold. So although none of these would normally be a deal breaker for me, everything combined surely is. read more

We're new to the area and are looking for a place for the occasional brunch. I'd heard about this place, plus we pass by it regularly, so today we decided to go in and try it. To start with, our ordering was a pain. My husband ordered a breakfast combo, but all I wanted was a small item. Everything on the menu seemed too large for me, so I asked if I could order off the kid's menu, since they don't have a senior's menu, and I can't eat the huge portions so many restaurants give you. I also didn't want to take home half a burger as they never hold up and end up soggy. They don't allow seniors to order off the kids menu, so I said I'd just have an English muffin with butter and cream cheese. Nope, you can't order an "add-on" unless you order a main meal. And, apparently, they don't have actual sides you can order. The second issue was they won't include a little cream cheese tub even if you do order the English muffin as an add-on to your meal, you have to pay extra. The issue there was not only the hassle, but they don't even have the price on the menu and the waitress didn't know how much it was, she just knew she had to charge extra for it. It wasn't the (unknown) price that made me skip it, it was the principle and the hassle. So, what we ended up doing is this; my husband's meal came with a choice of toast, so he ordered an English muffin, (of course without cream cheese as it was too much of a hassle to figure that one out) and I ate the muffin. I didn't dare ask for another of their teeny-tiny butter tubs as the two they included didn't quite cover both sides, instead I just used some jelly from a basket at another table as our basket was nearly empty and didn't have the flavor I wanted. Now, to the cook of the food. My husband ordered his eggs over medium, but the eggs were more over easy, although even for over easy they would have been under done, as the white was not cooked in places, and the yolk was next-door to raw. His hash browns were cooked on the very outer edge, but the insides were pretty underdone. The English muffin was basically warmed with a little bit of browning on the edges; they really needed to cook it longer, but I didn't want the hassle of sending it back so just ate it. Overall, this was an unpleasant experience, the food was poorly prepared and the overall experience was poor. Paying $20 for one order of undercooked breakfast food, plus all the hassle ordering, was not worth our money or future patronage. We won't be back. read more

We've been longtime customers at Woodett's and always enjoyed it in the past. Sadly, since the change in ownership, our experience has gone downhill. On our most recent visit, my husband ordered a hamburger but was first served an omelet by mistake. By the time his burger finally arrived, the rest of us had already finished eating. After a couple of bites, he discovered the patty was raw inside. When he sent it back, we were told they couldn't simply re-cook it and had to wait another 20 minutes for a new one. Meanwhile, my daughter's dessert never came, and after being there nearly two hours, we canceled it. To make matters worse, we were charged an additional $6 for the replacement burger--despite the first one being undercooked and unsafe to eat. I asked to speak with the manager/owner, but after waiting over 15 minutes (and another 5 after asking again), no one ever came out. We eventually gave up, paid the inflated bill, and left extremely disappointed. After years of being loyal customers, we won't be returning. read more

The biscuits and gravy were served warm, but on a cold plate. The only enjoyable part of the meal was the sausage, that was warm and tasty. The waitress was seldom seen, so I couldn't tell her. My wife had one cup of coffee and was never offered another. This place was once a top notch restaurant but it isn't any longer. No more Woodett's for me. read more

Gayle and I had to take Catticus in to the Vet yesterday, and as we were waiting to pick him up, it was still time for breakfast. Woodett's is on of the various "Mom and Pop" restaurants sprinkled throughout the Twin Cities (Minden and Gardnerville), and this place had been on our list to try. Working down our list takes time, as we don't really go out to eat all that often. The key reasons for that is we're happy to dine at home, and that everywhere outside of Genoa is a minimum of a 15-20 mile drive away. Anyway... Woodett's was a solid breakfast experience, which gave us a lot of tasty food for the money. Good coffee too. I had a breakfast sandwich (with bacon) which was ample enough that I skipped the pile of hash browns that came with it. Gayle enjoyed her delicious multi-ingredient Woodette's Skillet, which she couldn't finish, and not for the lack of trying. We found Woodett's interior is to be large, well lit, and homey. Our favorite seating is always a booth, which we enjoyed spreading out and settling in. Ambient noise level (even when busy) was conducive to private conversation. And our service was friendly and attentive. We'll surely be back again for breakfast or lunch. They also offer periodic Bistro dinners in the evenings. read more

Woodettes is a Carson Valley gem!! we decided to give them a try after the Carson Valley Days Parade. Even though they were super busy I was so impressed with the staff and how they seated us as sooner than we anticipated, and were so kind and friendly. Stella was our server and she had lots of good recommendations from the menu. I had the French omelette with fresh herbs and my husband had the breakfast burrito. Having to change my review from 5 stars to 3. It's been awhile since we ate there. 3 things to mention on the new review. 1. we went in & i was looking forward to their salad bar. Only to find out they stopped doing the salad bar. I was told it was because not enough people ordered the salad bar. 2. Really disappointed they don't do the old corn beef hash they used to serve cooked with garlic oil. They now have the regular hash browns you serve at just about every breakfast joint. 3. Our english muffin was served cold or room temp. Also the serving sizes are smaller than they used to be. They also charge for to go box's for left overs. (.50 cents). read more

Had to come back for breakfast again! The French toast was outstanding. Too much for me do l'm taking it home for a snack! Hubby had the Belgian Waffle. Equally just as good! Actually this waffle had chocolate in it. Very good! I have to mention that having been a fine dining waitress for 22 years l recognize talent. There's a bus person named Jorge that also works as the front of house hostess. He is so calm and is always refilling coffee, seating guests along with cleaning tables. Vide, the entire time we were there, people from different tables were getting up, saying hello and talking to each other. The people were fantastic and made you feel like you were home. And then there was the food! I had the Huevos Ranchero, which is my baseline for how the food is. It was a bit different than usual, but I loved it. Loved it. I've had three experiences here over the past year and a half. My first experience I would rate a three. I believe this was before it was transition to the new owners. Since then I have been twice. The second experience I would have rated a five. It didn't take long to seat us, the food came out and it was really good. My boyfriend had the huevos rancheros, and I had the Greek omelet. It was all very good. Today we decided on a whim to go out for breakfast / lunch for Father's day. Now we knew it was going to be busy so we didn't mind a little bit of a wait. It took about 25 minutes for us to be seated. We ordered our food after about 10 minutes and this is where the problem began. A table before us had sat and we had noticed that they didn't have their food at about the 30 minute mark. And they had been sitting for about 10 to 15 minutes longer than we had. Our server never checked in with us not even once during the long wait. When are food finally came out it had been about 45 minutes since we put in our order. The food was a little disappointing. My boyfriend's omelet was about 2/3 of the size that they were the last time that we went they only gave us one piece of toast and our server was very dismissive about the wait, in fact she didn't even mention it until I had asked her if something was going on in the kitchen which is why it took so long. I myself am a server and I understand sometimes these things are out of our control. Our main biggest disappointment was that our server completely avoided our gaze for the almost hour that we waited for our food. She did not come and check in with us and let us know how long the wait would be or that it would be longer than expected. When I asked her about why the wait was so long she said that they had had a whole bunch of to-go orders that had backed up the kitchen. By the time that we sat there were several empty tables so the whole restaurant wasn't full. We could tell that something happened on the expo line as plates were being sent back and the cooks were actively tossing them out. We wish that our server had let us know because we may not have stayed and waited as long as we did if we had known that they were so backed up that our food would almost take an hour. From start to finish we were there for almost 2 hours for breakfast. I've been in the industry for 12 years and have worked many restaurants that do to go orders. The standard procedure is usually that tableside service is priority. And if to go orders are taking up too much of the time and there's too much of them and it's inundating the kitchen to where they cannot cook the food in the dining room we no longer take to go orders or we put a pause on them. Our server should have checked in with us and at least let us know what was going on so we could have decided if we wanted to stay and we would have had a better experience. Unfortunately it put a damper on our Father's Day morning and took a big chunk out of our day just to have breakfast. read more

Very disappointed. ordered a veggie omelette because it was supposed to have mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, broccoli, and green chilies. instead it had a few mushrooms, spinach, and green beans. when I got our servers attention she told. e they were out of broccoli for a while. she could have said something when I was ordering. I was offered something else but my husband was almost finished with his breakfast so I passed. All I got was a "sorry".
