Another and only place now to get the "Awful awful" burger since the Reno location has closed. I got the newer triple patty version. The burger is so big that eating it requires cutting it in portions in which one can hold on to it to eat is avise able, it was certainly easier to get ahold of to eat, it's simply a massive burger. It was ordered medium rare and I was pleasantly surprised it was cooked to just that. The burger I thought was pretty good and not overly salted which was a big plus. It came with a pickle which left you wanting more if you are a pickle fan like me. The fries, eh they were passable, nothing worth noting. If you ever have a urge for a burger, this is certainly not a bad choice, definitely should be tried when you get a chance. read more

We were seated, service was prompt and the food prices are budget conscious. $6.99 for a great burger and fries, there is a salad bar if you decide on that too. The casino reeks of smoke but there is an exit from the restaurants to the parking lot to avoid the casino floor, not a long walk from our car to the restaurant. read more

We normally eat here after the busy time of the evening because it can get very busy and the cooks can't keep up if you're in a hurry. We have had both Shannon and Julie as our server and they are both awesome. The prices are so incredibly reasonable compared to $13-$19 burgers I've had around town. I've had the burgers and fries, all great. The prime rib special for $9.99 is such a great value and delicious. Their weekly specials are pretty good and normally around $7.99. My daughter won't try anything except the $2.99 pancakes because she just loves them. She did try the clam chowder once since we were there on a Friday ands she just loved it too. read more

Terrible food and service. We went in for pie and coffee. The server took forever, which wouldn't have bothered me but there was only one other table with customers and they were done. Initially told they were out of everything but lemon meringue. Not a fan so we were getting up to leave and the server said to wait, he would see if there was possibly something else. He came back and said he found 3 pies: apple, cherry, and peach. We ordered apple and peach, warmed up, a la mode, with decaf coffee and cream. The coffee came out quickly but he forgot cream. I asked for cream again. We didn't see him again for 10 minutes. He came out with the pies but no creamer. I sent him back again for creamer. I bit into my pie and it didn't taste right. It was room temp but hadn't been warmed up as requested. Then we noticed that neither of our pies has been cooked, the dough was raw. Basically, they took a frozen pie that had been thawed out but not baked, and tried to serve it to us. We got up, told the cashier that we weren't going to eat or pay for raw pie. She apologized and had the decency to look embarrassed and apologize for what the server did. The only reason they get even one star is because the hostess/cashier was really nice. read more

This is one of just a few times Yelp ratings were inappropriate. However, after looking at the poor reviews, I noticed a trend. One was the casino environment including smoke and gamblers. The second was slow service complaints. If smoke, gamblers and slow service bother you, don't go here. If you want great food for very reasonable prices served to you in a leisurely and polite manner, this is the place. My wife and I were looking for lunch and after I perused the ratings decided to ignore the nay-sayers and give it a try. I am SOOOO Glad we did. My wife ordered the quesadillas and I tried a burger with seasoned fries. We also had a piece of chocolate creme pie. The food was outstanding and their servings were so large we had to take some home. Even their coke was better than average. I was extremely impressed with the taste, quantity and presentation. The service was leisurely; however, the waitress was very polite and she checked with us three times to make sure everything was correct. She wasn't speedy Gonzales, but that wasn't our priority. She was good and courteous. If you think slow service is a negative, you probably won't be happy here; go to a fast food place or the buffet down the road. But if you can eat a leisurely meal at a slow pace and remember you are in Carson City, a friendly little town that is courteous and slower paced, this be da place! Well wee decided to give The Eatery another chance for dinner but once again we're disappointed! They didn't have one of their staple menu items. This restaurant has been known to have good spaghetti and meatballs, but I was told they "didn't have it tonight" I'm sorry but the simplest menu item to make and they don't have it is unacceptable. There was also an older waitress yelling for either a cook or busboy from the dining room clearly she has no concept of respect! This happened twice while we were there. Well, this place is definitely not the same as some years back when it was the Coffee Shop. From the moment my sister and I arrived, it was "awful, awful". Just about the worst service we've ever experienced in a long time. It wasn't very busy there (practically empty), yet it took awhile to get seated. The staff barely even looked like they wanted to be there (so much for "service with a smile"). The server took our order, and it was the longest wait we've ever had for a place that wasn't too busy. Our order came a half-hour (perhaps longer) after ordering, and the food was barely warm and not the good food that we remember from times past. Prices are low enough, but I have honestly had quality food for around the same price, and even less. Nothing to boast about with this establishment. There are much better places to eat. We went there today at noon, I want to give it 5 stars because the food was really delicious. I had the lunch special turkey burger and fries he had the awful awful. From the start service was awkward, she seemed very frazzled and in disarray as did all the waitress working . It wasn't really that bust may 15 tables in all. Food took forever, it also took a really long time to pay our bill we stood there for at least 10 min one server came up cashed out a ticket and didn't even acknowledge us. I've ordered chicken strips to go twice now and the second time was better. The first time the fries were dark brown and over-fried. Second time was better. The chicken strips were quite good both times and decent portions for price. I like that you can pay with points or comps from the Casino. However, the one time my boyfriend and I went to sit in and eat we never got served and we sat there for a good 25 minutes waiting for even a waiter to get us drinks. It was not crowded. Enormous, perfectly cooked, fresh toppings and hot crisp fries.... we also had the frisbee-sized $2.99 pancake platter (the fluffiest cakes on earth, seriously), the BLT platter (surprisingly nice fruit side in place of the fries) and a big breakfast platter. Hot coffee and quick drink refills and the prices cannot be beat. We've paid twice this much for food not nearly this good. Campy feel, very clean and friendly. If you're looking for the quinticential diner experience, this just might be Carson's best kept secret. read more
