Veggie omelette with grits
Thomas E M.

So there we were, asking our granddaughter where she'd like to have her birthday breakfast. She says pegs, glorified ham, and eggs. She's only 10 now and she knows what she wants. It's a Sunday morning and so I expected a crowd, but we got lucky and we were able to slip right into a booth. As we left, I couldn't help but notice the0 crowd that was waiting, filled the waiting area and spread to outside the restaurant. Yes, we were appreciative that we didn't have to do that. Had we had to, we would have been rewarded with food that was worth the wait. Our granddaughter knew what she wanted, the Mickey Mouse pancakes with the whipped cream ears and the fruit smiles ordered off the children's menu. my wife ordered the huevos rancheros and I had the chorizo egg scramble. Both arrived and clearly exceeded our capacity for consumption. They were awesome to behold, and they tasted as good as they looked. If this restaurant wasn't 15 miles from my house, I might be here weekly. Our server did a great job of taking our order and the people that brought the food to the table did so in an efficient and effective fashion. This was all done like it was a practiced ballet. Enjoy!

Seated quickly and got our coffee and water within 2 minutes of being seated. Food was delicious as usual ‼ Kimberly was an excellent waitress and checked back on us several times. Our coffee was always full.

La plaza omelette

Tried out this pegs for the first time over the weekend and it was pretty good. It was busy but we were able to get in and get a table right away which is basically unheard of for pegs. I can't remember our servers name unfortunately but she was great! Very attentive and friendly. Super patient with us as we navigated the menu and had questions. We had our toddler and he can be a handful so we don't like to bring him out to eat much but our server was so nice and made us feel very comfortable! I got the veggie omelette i think it was called the plaza and it was good. I do wish they had different potato options other than just hashbrowns but it was good. My husband got the Portuguese sausage and eggs and that was good too! The only coffee they have is diner drip. Would be awesome to see more options with coffee as well. Overall we did have a good experience but the food here is pretty expensive and not the best meals so not our usual go to.

Joe's scramble with tomato's .

During the wait time for my car to be serviced at a nearby dealership I had a "breakfast" lunch at the Carson city Peg's. Coffee service was stellar...I had two friends join me and we shared a great meal . The ambience was well suited for conversation. I got the Joe's scramble with tomato's substituted for hash browns. The ground turkey wa great, I was glad I selected that instead of what I would usually order (ground chuck) All in all it was a very nice meal. The only negative for me was the absence of a senior menu selection as their portion sizes are rather hardy.

Build your own scramble with mushroom, spinach & onion

We had a tasty breakfast here recently. The restaurant is spacious and airy. The staff are friendly and attentive. And this last visit I was happy to discover that there was another veg option. (Since the plague, many restaurants have gone with only meat or mostly meat options.) I think Peg's used to have a veggie benedict?, but that's been long gone. The happy news is they now have a build your own omelet (or scramble) option on their menu. So you can easily get something to your tastes and/or dietary restrictions. I ordered a build your own scramble with mushrooms, spinach and onions and it was delicious. I'm so happy to see more choices. We'll be back.

Pancake order (2) - butter knife for scale - huge!!!! So delicious!!!

The service was good but they charge a lot for coffee and ranch. Coffee was burnt and so were hash browns. Reno location is better

Here is what we noticed: - It's a pretty unassuming place...we parked in the side lot and walked around to their main entrance. They even had some specials highlighted as we entered. - Inside there is lots of seating...when we arrived the front of the place was empty, but people were sitting there when we left and we noticed that it is much quieter in that section of the restaurant than in the main dining room. - As others have noted, chorizo is their specialty and it's in many of the dishes. And, it is worth it!...and, not spicy like you might think of chorizo. My wife and I ordered the Quesadilla and the Basque Omelette, and we split both (plus, we took some home too). Each dish was really good in its own right, and being able to have the chorizo prepared two ways was great. Their home fries were really tasty too. - Service was good....very attentive, especially considering that it took us a while to decide what to order given the breadth of the menu. - We paid cash because of their sign indicating that that was preferred. Bottom line: We'd go back to Villa Basque Cafe anytime we're in Carson City...next time, we'd like to try some of their lunch options!

The saving grace was the wonderful lady who took the order in her stylish glasses so friendly and welcoming! And the fries were crunchy yet no Heinz tomato ketchup. The cakes at the entrance looked interesting. The Italian cookie was too sweet like dosing on spoonfuls of sugar. Salty and sweet a balance would have been nice. The raspberry center got stuck to the parchment paper bag. The Tiramisu was ok, nothing to write home about let alone finish. The extra hot latte was as expected. Extra Hot and delivered the caffeine dose needed. Ambiance is nice. We would have liked to be regulars. For the cakes or honey. Found the carne asada tacos at Centro market (first time) more delicious, 20 mins after sharing a sandwich here. Go there!

Our waitress and the bar staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations (our first time here). There was a slight mishap with my order, but they bent over backwards to make it right, which was greatly appreciated. The food was amazing. I had a cup of their clam chowder as a starter (I was starving) and it was easily the best chowder I've had outside of San Francisco and Seattle. My main was their French dip. It was piled high with thinly shaved beef and cheese. Would definitely recommend. My wife enjoyed her salmon and eggs Benedict. I tried a bit of it and thought the salmon had fantastic flavor. I definitely recommend enjoying a meal here. We'll definitely be back, though next time we'll know to secure a reservation ahead of time.

We were a group of 8 and while we were waiting on our food I happened to have a clear view of the kitchen. When I watched for a minute I realize the chef had his long hair pulled back in a ponytail, but his beard down to his chest had no covering. It grossed me out so much that every bite I was looking for hair! Then while the food came out and the waitress was serving she accidentally gave a plate of food to the wrong person. When it was discovered the waitress offered the plate to the correct person stating "he only took a couple of bites"! We all sat there in disbelief. The restaurant remade the dish to say the least. The food was tasty but the service was extremely slow. We arrived at 6pm and our food was served at 7pm. Question: would I go back byes, but I would check to see if the cooks were properly protested from hair dropping in my food.
