Rueben- pastrami, thousand island, Swiss, sauerkraut on a rye bread.

Food is delicious, great portions, friendly staff. We ordered the French dip and the Rueben. They were absolutely delicious. Also grab their homemade ranch pretzels!

Hot pastrami sandwich- 1/2 that was left

The sandwich was good. It had a lot of meat but not a lot of flavor. Your sandwich comes with chips however, they only have regular chips left. The soup was beanie weenie and it was awful. The service was good. The service model is full service. Kind of weird for a sandwich shop. I might give this place another shot but not sure.

Had the French Dip and wife had the Lizzy. bread was great, service was great, food was good. It was a step above Subway but it's not nearly a Capriotis... but you get what you pay for and the value seems right!

    Macaroni and cheese soup...yum!

Homey deli and soup spot that is tasty everytime. Perfect for lunch. I always get both daily soup specials. Local and homemade. They'll cater, but you gotta give them a heads up.

Horrible, way over priced. Full belly? I got two slices of wonderbread smothered in mustard with one slice of turkey for $12+.

I asked if they did half sandwiches in an effort to keep my calorie consumption to a reasonable level. They said yes we do make half sandwich sandwiches.. that was awesome but also the homemade banana bread said calories don't count - and a little "eat me" sign was floating above the banana bread visible only to me of course. I ended up getting half the Bart attack on sliced marble rye, and a corner piece of the chocolate chip banana bread. I ate it outside the patio, adorable tables and umbrellas. Such a gorgeous break from driving and eat something so delicious. It was like my grandma made it, full of love and flavor! The little store inside has everything that you might need from medicine to drink to freeze dried candy and homemade baked goods. I'm definitely gonna stop here again I also loved the no Dodgers fan sign on the door and one of the staff was doing music trivia! This place rocks

Here is what we noticed: - It's a pretty unassuming place...we parked in the side lot and walked around to their main entrance. They even had some specials highlighted as we entered. - Inside there is lots of seating...when we arrived the front of the place was empty, but people were sitting there when we left and we noticed that it is much quieter in that section of the restaurant than in the main dining room. - As others have noted, chorizo is their specialty and it's in many of the dishes. And, it is worth it!...and, not spicy like you might think of chorizo. My wife and I ordered the Quesadilla and the Basque Omelette, and we split both (plus, we took some home too). Each dish was really good in its own right, and being able to have the chorizo prepared two ways was great. Their home fries were really tasty too. - Service was good....very attentive, especially considering that it took us a while to decide what to order given the breadth of the menu. - We paid cash because of their sign indicating that that was preferred. Bottom line: We'd go back to Villa Basque Cafe anytime we're in Carson City...next time, we'd like to try some of their lunch options!

The hubby was going to run an errand, so I placed a takeout order thru DD so he could pick it up afterwards. I don't think they have a website, so we just chose DD to place the order. Yes, I was too lazy to call. My bagel and lox was good. The bagel was chewy and had good flavor, tho it was a lil over toasted. Some of the everything bagel seasoning was burnt. The pickle was standard. Tho at $1.50 I thought a lil pricey. The hubs got the other two items. He seemed to enjoy them. He wanted a lil contrast to his pastrami sando, so added some dijon mustard we had at home. Decent pricing for bagels and sandwiches. Would come again if the smoked salmon bagel craving hits. We stopped in while leaving Tahoe, and the owner, Cara, was working solo and was genuinely kind, welcoming, and easy to talk to. You can tell she truly cares about her shop and her customers. The ice cream scoops are HUGE, on purpose. She wants to be known for generous scoops, and she absolutely delivers. Biggest scoop I've ever gotten anywhere, and it was delicious. They also offer deli sandwiches that sound amazing, and the cozy atmosphere (plus gas fire pits out front) makes this a great place to stop and linger. If you want great ice cream and a genuinely good human interaction, this is the spot. Five stars.

The coffee was so hot it actually burned my poor tongue. It was also a bit bitter and not very creamy, with none of the warm honey notes I was hoping for. It was a bummer, because judging by the look and vibe of the store, I expected to love it. That said, the market itself couldn't be more rustic and beautiful. It's filled with genuinely great looking items: handmade sandwiches, cheeses, baked goods, wine, gelato, and organic produce. Everything looked stellar. I asked the guy behind the coffee bar what beans they use, but he didn't know.
