As many times as I've driven to Reno and the fact that I'm always on Yelp/ i'm shocked that I have never heard of this place before today! All of the sandwiches looked amazing. I asked if they did half sandwiches in an effort to keep my calorie consumption to a reasonable level. They said yes we do make half sandwich sandwiches.. that was awesome but also the homemade banana bread said calories don't count - and a little "eat me" sign was floating above the banana bread visible only to me of course. I ended up getting half the Bart attack on sliced marble rye, and a corner piece of the chocolate chip banana bread. I ate it outside the patio, adorable tables and umbrellas. Such a gorgeous break from driving and eat something so delicious. It was like my grandma made it, full of love and flavor! The little store inside has everything that you might need from medicine to drink to freeze dried candy and homemade baked goods. We stopped here for lunch as we were driving through. They have a deli, convenience store, and gas pumps to fill up your vehicle. The service was excellent and we were warmly welcomed as soon as we walked in. Their deli has a large selection of breakfast items, cold sandwiches, and hot sandwiches. I ordered the Herbavore sandwich and it was delicious! The sandwiches and food items were reasonably priced. Everyone that worked there was friendly and our sandwiches came out quickly. I was in the mood for a really good sandwich, so I did a little Yelp research, and chose this place based on the photos and reviews. This deli doubles as a gift shop and check in station for the people staying at the RV park next door. They have a lot of cute souvenirs like hats, stickers, t-shirts, teddy bears, etc. I came by late on a Monday afternoon, which I'm guessing is not a super busy time for them. While I was waiting for my sandwich, two or three people came in to check in or buy ice. I ordered a pastrami sandwich on Dutch crunch instead of rye, with Swiss cheese instead of havarti. The sandwich also came with grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and Chipotle spread. As soon as I opened the foil around the sandwich, I could tell it was going to be amazing. As you can see from the photos, there were several strings of cheese melted across the top of the bread. This was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a while. Not the best of all time, but in the top ten percent for sure. For about $13, I was able to get two meals out of this (lunch and dinner). Was heading down from Truckee to Reno in order to catch a business flight. Almost convinced myself to grab airport food for lunch and not go here. I made sure to give myself extra time to stop in here for a delicious sandwich. I'm very happy with my choice. I ordered the Italian Stallion because that's what I always order. No tomatoes, not sure if they even typically add them. We talked about the severe thunderstorms we've been experiencing, foreshadowing. I ate my bag of chips waiting for sandwich. I saw multiple lightning strikes hit the ground.. Half mile down the road with my warm sandwich and soda it began to rain, hard! I called Cal Trans to report a mud slide. Hail on my route forced me into exp and multi-le stopped traffic. The point of my story is I ate the wonderful sandwich in my car on the way to the airport. Had I waited I would've missed lunch and dinner as my flight was delayed by lightning at the airport. The bread was fresh. The meat hot inside their foil wrapping. The sandwich had a nice spicy kick, but not overwhelming. Friendly staff. They offer the cheapest gas in the area so don't be afraid to drive from Truckee. read more

Eastside Deli has really good breakfast and sandwiches, and the food is honestly the only reason this isn't a 1-star review. The problem is their rigid breakfast cutoff at 11:00. It's incredibly annoying to walk into a deli known for breakfast and be refused breakfast food just because it's a few minutes past the arbitrary time. A lot of places are more flexible, especially when they already have the ingredients available. They have really good sandwiches here. If you like delicious, big sloppy sandwiches this is the place for you. My husband even likes it and he can't stand to get his hands messy (he eats candy bars with a knife and fork). This is off of I80 at exit for boca reservoir. It's in the little trailer park. Awesome sandwiches! Thanks to a local who gave a the tip I ordered The Angler to go, they have a few table inside and a great patio to eat out side. Some yelpers mentioned you had to write down your order on a sandwich slip but I didn't see one and they were happy to take the order at the counter. Also my order taker was very pleasant. I was jonesin for a deli sandwich on the long road trip to CA from Utah. This place is just want you want from a little RV park deli on the Truckee river right by the freeway, Easy access off and on. My sister and I each got the Angler - Turkey, bacon and all the fixings. I love mayo and she doesn't so that kept us from splitting the sandwich but we easily could have split it as it's huge and a plentiful portion of bacon and turkey. Only thing I would change about the sandwich is to get it on different bread. I thought a roll would be easier to eat in the car but it was a very soft white hogie roll that soaked up lots of moisture. Still it was delicious. A crusty sourdough roll would have held together better or maybe even sliced sourdough. Anyway, everyone was super friendly. There was a nice deck we could have sit and ate on but we had to hit the road. Definitely doing to make this a stop on my regular roadtrip. read more

Hands down, the best deli sandwich I have ever had. My husband had an Italian Stallion pastrami and salami on a white roll. We were skeptical when we found it was the general store to the RV Park, but let me tell you that this place is on the map! The ladies were super friendly and talented behind the grill! There's a table with chairs to eat or have a drink (ample beer at the store). I recommend eating there since the sandwiches can get messy(that's a good thing).We had a Pastrami Itis and an Angler along with a Sprecher Cream Soda. Pastrami Inis - Toasted Rye bread with grilled pastrami and onions with a spicy chipotle sauce. The pastrami was piled high which made me a happy human and onions nicely grilled. Bread had a crunch but easy to bite through. Lettuce and tomatoes rounded out the flavors but I was happy that the pastrami was the feature flavor with chipotle right behind. This was sandwich heaven! Angler - Turkey and bacon with mayo and a vinaigrette with the typical lettuce and tomatoes. Very tasty version of this classic combo. This was a great spot to grab a quick sandwich on the way through the state line. Nice fishing nearby makes this a great place to camp so that you can feast and fish all at the same time! Great food. However, a couple of the ladies who work here need to work on their professionalism. On Mother's Day, the workers specifically kept complaining about how busy they were and broadcasted how much cash was on hand to stress the volume. I know y'all made four grand by noon. Consistently complained while I was in shop. Talked about how if another employee didn't show up given how busy they were, "she would have closed the shop and walked the f*** out". The entire conversation was based on a negative energy. They sure know how to make a sandwich, however. read more
