We stopped by right when they opened on a chilly Monday morning. Were immediately greeted by the two friendly and cheerful guys behind the counter. The interior is nice and cozy (and warm), with light reggae music playing in the background. There're only two tables; the rest of the seating is VERY comfortable bar seating. With two walls of windows showing beautiful Lake Tahoe views--plenty of trees and the lake itself--there's plenty of morning light coming through. I was happy that they were serving smooth Laughing Dog coffee--a favorite. And the food came out quick and delicious, with a nice crisp on my burrito wrapper. The menu is limited, but what they do they do creatively and well--the quinoa in my burrito went great with the eggs, beans, and sausage, and they told my wife they were experimenting with their already creative pretzel bun sunrise sliders by adding pesto--a perfect extra optional touch for her. read more

We needed a quick bite to eat after a morning of sledding and Pep's was a quick drive from the Mellow Meadow (in North Tahoe Regional Park). I was worried there wouldn't be any seating since it's rather small but there was plenty of seating both inside and out. I love that there's hooks to hang up all your jackets and stuff since we were all super warm from playing in the snow. The kids' menu is plentiful and has a lot of variety which is nice and my kid got the hummus plate since he likes little pitas and surprisingly loves raw bell pepper. I got an Italian sandwich which was divine and my husband got a burrito (which had quinoa in it!) we scarfed it all down and also got some drinks. The staff is super friendly and there's a restroom on site for potty breaks. It's also a nice walk across the road to enjoy the view of the lake! read more

Great quick spot for breakfast or lunch. This was my second time in here over the years and the service is fast and great quality. Cute small spot across from the beach makes it feel so homey and welcoming! The food was also wonderful! Yay, I finally got to try Pep's Place for some takeout breakfast and it did not disappoint. I got the English Muffin breakfast sando and made it vegetarian (no bacon). It came with scrambled eggs, cheese, avocado, butter lettuce & tomato for $11, which is a fair price even w/o the bacon. My only suggestion is that it could use some sort of signature sauce & more seasoning, but I was able to do that at home & it was perfect. My husband's lunch sandwich (Roast Beef $16) was a little pricier than anticipated, but the portion size was pretty big, so I still think you are getting a decent deal here. Not only were they super pleasant and kind when I placed my order over the phone but they were super fast and got my order right each time. My bf got an everything bagel with butter and heavy cream cheese and they def understood the assignment with the cream cheese. So great! To start with we got a friendly hello when we walked in. We looked at the creative choices on the menu and I ordered the turkey sandwich warm and my wife got the veggie wrap. We added an acacia bowl cause why not? All of the food was outstanding. Boy, I don't know, I had a rough and fun night prior playing the most vicious game of Monopoly until 3 in the morning so maybe that's why this Latte smacked so hard! This Latte rejuvenated me, like every sip brought me to life! I decided to go a healthier route with food finally, not because I care about healthy but because I actually like most healthy foods naturally so I ordered a Acai Bowel. It was just the right amount of everything I needed, the bananas were freshly cut, the oats were crunchy and the yogurt wasn't too thick. Infact, my only draw was the yogurt eventually monopolized the whole thing... see how I brought that full circle?! But that's my fault since I walked back to our cabin to eat it instead of lounging about. One cool lil fact I feel needs to be mentioned is this program they got going... so they have a recycling thing where if you bring your own cup you can refill on house brew coffee for a dollar! Father's Day weekend in Tahoe City with breakfast on the brain, Yelp reviews lead ya to Pep's Place and I'm glad it did. The menu is limited but it covers all the bases. We wanted something delicious and easy to eat, and there were some solid breakfast sandwich options that fit the bill. I ordered the croissant sandwich with egg, sausage patty, arugula and gruyere. I ended up eating this for lunch and thought it was good, but I was disappointed that the croissant was actually a crescent shaped bread roll and not a flaky pastry. We also ordered the English muffin sandwich with egg, bacon and spinach. This one was good too but the bacon was undercooked for my liking. What impressed me was the sandwich architecture. The eggs were perfectly scrambled and fit perfectly on the bread. The bacon and veggie coverage was perfect too! It's rare to find it this way and I always find myself fighting to keep it together. Location: Pep's Place is located along the west side of King's Beach and is solely available for takeout. You can either call ahead or order at the door of the storefront. Food: The food was both healthy and incredibly tasty! I ordered the Veggie Wrap: Spinach, hummus, quinoa, tomato, cucumber, sriracha aioli, and Havarti cheese. I fell so deep in love with this wrap that I tried to recreate it as soon as I got home! For a beverage I ordered the blueberry tea, crafted here in Lake Tahoe! You can definitely taste refreshing traces of light crisp blueberries. So thankful for the amazing food and service! This is the best spot to get fueled up before a day of skiing the slopes. read more
