Nice little cafe in Truckee with a beautiful view of the golf course and spacious patio. We stopped in for some light lunch on a Saturday. A few people on the patio, but otherwise fairly slow. I was pleasantly surprised by their pastry selection. Many great choices! We settled on the Thai chicken wrap, an iced coffee, some yuzu beignets, and a yogurt parfait. The service was iffy. The people were nice, but the gentleman taking our order had to clarify my wife's drink twice, even though it was a quite simple order of iced coffee with cream. It seemed like maybe he wasn't really listening. For close to $15, I was expecting the Thai chicken wrap to be a decent portion filled with protein. I was a bit disappointed to have mostly tortilla and lettuce. The flavor was good, but not such a great portion. The beignets were great, can't be beat. Perfectly tart from the yuzu inside. The yogurt parfait was well-priced, and I felt the portion was good. Overall, a cute place to grab coffee and pastries, but I would probably avoid their lunch food in the future. Excited to have a new option in Truckee! What i loved most about Cafe Lupine was the seating, both inside and outside. It overlooks the golf course with a barrier of trees and flowers that is surprisingly peaceful. Beautiful furniture too. I thought the employees were friendly and competent, despite what the other reviews said. Docked one star for the coffee and cake. I got a latte and the lemon ricotta cake. Coffee was just ok - but I am quite picky and there are ample incredible coffee choices in the area - tough competition. The cake was so tasty but not quite enough to come back for. Cafe Lupin is a gem of a coffee spot near Truckee--maybe even in Truckee. The baked goods are tempting, especially the Nutella-stuffed croissants, but I went for the lemon ricotta cake, which was absolutely delicious. Cafe Lupine is just what this corner of town needed! Not only does cafe have the cutest and coziest vibes the coffee (which is roasted in house!) is amazing and the pastries are made daily! I had a mocha and a crème brûlée donut and was trying to resist going back the next day to repeat the order! I mean the brûléed the sugar on top, it was divine! The owners are truckee locals and the kindest people. They have an amazing staff who really cares about what they do! They also just added a beer and wine selection for the weekends as a great edition and I look forward to a glass of wine on their patio watching the golfers! The food and treats here are delicious! The first time I was in service was not super organized or fast, but it's truckee, so that isn't something I stressed out about. The next time I came in music was blasting and no one was behind the counter because the only employee was hanging out at the table with their friends. I spent $8 on a chai after tip. Wasn't spoken to again, even as the chai was set down in front of me, not that I could have heard someone speaking over the music. I got to my truck and it was lukewarm at best. I will be back next time I just want a snack but not a drink. And won't walk in the door if I can hear the music from my truck. read more

We noted a soft opening this weekend of Cafe Lupine, conveniently located in The Rock commercial complex in Truckee. The setting of the new place overlooks the Ponderosa Golf Course and is warm and homey inside. It looks like there is also outdoor seating during the warmer season. We stopped in this morning on the way to skiing and were welcomed warmly by the staff. I ordered a mocha and a parmesan leek croissant. Both were excellent and reasonably priced by Truckee standards. There's other coffee to be found in Truckee but Cafe Lupine has plentiful easy parking in the morning hours, has a staff that is actually friendly and has an inviting setting that makes you want to hang around. They are also convenient located near the bike path along Brockway Road. The owners dog is super cute and friendly (he was outside). We hope this new business is successful and around for a long time. read more

Café Lupine is a fantastic new coffee/breakfast hidden gem that just opened up in Truckee. Tucked just behind Fifty-Fifty Brewing and right on the edge of the Ponderosa Golf Club, this cozy café has all the makings of a new local favorite. Our group of 4 stopped in around 7pm to check out their wine, beer, and cheese offerings. Peter (The owner) made us feel so welcomed, and with four beers on tap, a solid selection of bottled wines, and a few ciders, there was something for everyone. The cheese board was a highlight! Multiple delicious varieties which paired perfectly with the beautiful golf course views. We enjoyed it so much that we came back the next morning for breakfast. The pastries were fresh and flavorful, and the breakfast burrito was a delicious way to start the day! The frittata was a little dry, but I hear the breakfast burritos are good, so I will try that next time. We went in at 11, although late in the day, they were out of everything and very rude and dismissive when asked about anything that was out. Once my friend ordered they were giggling and making fun of his order behind the counter and as another one of my friends asked if the order on the counter was hers the kid behind the counter rolled his eyes and dismissively said "I don't know, probably" with his back turned. Overall the employees were very rude and the service was not equatable to the price and amount of menu options out of stock. read more
