Since it was the season, I went with a hot pumpkin spiced latte and it really hit the spot. I'm not usually a huge coffee drinker but I certainly enjoyed the one I got here during our visit. I recommend espresso from this place. They had vegan croissant which has extra treat. They heated it up. Was there with kiddos and had oat milk hot chocolate for them and espresso for me. Have been there twice, the hot chocolate was really nicely decorate, little hart on it, was very good. It was barrista made. The second time it was just poured to the cup, large foam bubbles, like anyone can do at home. The espresso was really good. It had good medium roast quality, flavorful, strong creama. We visited this coffee shop again last week. I had a sweetened ice tea. They only have black iced tea, but it was good. I also had the avocado, feta, and sprouts breakfast sandwich. I'm not sure if the avocado wasn't fresh or if it was bottled lemon juice, but something tasted chemically. It also would have benefited from some sort of sauce other than just olive oil and lemon. There is lots of cute hats and beanies with their name on it to stay warm as well as mugs and stuff! The vanilla latte was delicious and exactly what my fiancé was wanting. This is closer to 3.5 stars. This spot is perpetually busy, especially on weekends. Located right in the main drag, I see why. Coffee, smoothies and some mighty fine looking toasts and breakfast sandwiches. However. However. The line may also be line because as I saw on Saturday, not a ton of urgency coming out of this place from the staff. I'm not saying staff need to go crazy, but I mean when you see a line, a little hustle goes a long way. I came once on a Friday morning, no line, and ordered a smoothie. It came out quickly and well done. Awesome. The chocolate protein smoothie is oh so rich and creamy. I most recently came on a Saturday morning. After waiting a bit in line, I ordered 3 smoothies. The gal started making it and then mid making it went back to the register and started taking new orders. The guy on food eventually finished up his orders and came thru to finish the job. He sadly missed the cacao nibs on top which are a nice addition and heck, when paying $11/smoothie you want what's advertised. The staff was so lovely, but lacking some urgency, especially when confronting a long ass line (minus the espresso gal, she was hustling). Overall, you see a line? Keep it moving. If it's slower, I think attention to detail will be better served and less time wasted to enjoy the goods. read more

Visited truckee for the first time and discovered this cute little coffee shop. This cafe is definitely always busy! Stopped here twice on different days; once in the morning and even late afternoon and there's a continuous line! However, after trying it out, I know why people wait! Food is good, and every latte we tried (sugar free vanilla latte, brown sugar & spice, and the dark mocha) were amazing! The whole staff was really friendly and for as busy as it always was, everything came out in a timely manner. Would highly recommend if you're ever in Truckee! read more

Definitely a good coffee shop with consistently made drinks. Their lavender latte is VERY tasty. If you, like myself, are a poor unfortunate soul who cannot tolerate caffeine I am happy to share that their decaf blend is excellent. It's definitely hard to find a nice decaf anywhere really but drink coffee do stuff has definitely raised the bar when it comes to that. The staff is usually a joy to talk to, they know their regulars, and it's kind of cool to watch them make your order. So why only four stars? Well it's a couple things. First of all, when it first opened it was extremely accessible because they were able to share the parking lot next to them with the neighboring business. However since the neighboring business has changed, parking can be a bit more difficult. I'll be honest, a lot more difficult. Especially during the busy season. If you are out wandering around downtown this is not a problem but if you just want to go in and grab some coffee you're better off giving their cafe at the Raley's a shot. (Albeit they don't make the coffee drinks as well there.) The other reason is because due to the popularity, the wait to actually order can be very long. I have actually had to turn around and leave more than once because I wasn't going to be able to order in time to get my drink and get where I needed to go. I know this can happen anywhere but it seems to happen more often here than anywhere else in town. Coffee is mid. If you're from SF/bay area you'll think it's ok. Got the lavender latte and it's a bit bland and bitter, but not bad. Again just mid. Worst part was the service. I'm here on a very slow Monday afternoon. No one in front or behind me in line but the barista is too busy talking to his buddy (who also works there) to take my order. A second person from the back came out, looked at me confused, looked at chatty worker confused then finally took my order. Honestly should have given zero tips but tipping culture is out of whack in CA so I felt obligated even though this is the perfect example of when you really shouldn't give any type of tip. 12oz mid coffee ended up being around $8.30. Hope the tip is split at least. Edit: just saw a thin younger girl come in and he stopped talking to his buddy right away to take her order. I've been a huge fan of DCDS ever since I set foot in their Incline Village location years ago, so naturally when passing through Truckee on our way up to the snow I insisted we come here for a quality coffee to start our morning off right. I absolutely love the espresso here. It's consistently well-balanced, nutty, and slightly sweet. Maybe there really is something to high altitude roasting? Either way, I really enjoy it. The location is in the main area of downtown Truckee and walkable to several nearby restaurants and shops. It's also really close to the river. The interior has plenty of seating (there's also outdoor seating in the warmer months) and a chill atmosphere. Baristas are also very friendly and knowledgeable. There are a few different vegan options on the food menu as well (avo toast, overnight oats, etc). I'm hoping they start carrying a vegan cream cheese option for their bagels by my next visit, because they looked delicious. On this visit I got a brown sugar oat milk latte and thoroughly enjoyed it. The seasonal menu rotates pretty frequently, so make sure you check it out! read more

I'm not sure when it was founded, but Drink Coffee Do Stuff is like a time capsule from 2014...and to be clear I consider that a neutral statement. Just painting the picture. The place is clean, the menu is decent (standard drinks + specialty/seasonal, as well as baked treats and local goods), the prices are high, and the decor is giving Tumblr. I tried the Brown Sugar & Spice latte ($6.25 pre tax/tip) which was yummy, and I would get it again. I was also intrigued by their lavender latte. Basically, I wasn't underwhelmed nor was I wowed. We are staying directly across the street from this coffee shop. The first day we went to get two regular coffees it took 25 minutes. Despite the painfully slow service, we decided to give them another try. Our second attempt was even more painful. SLOWEST service I have seen in a long long time. Not even an acknowledgement that we entered the store and it was going to be awhile. After waiting 15 minutes, I realized there were two people in front of me and this could take forever. I walked out and went to a place called the coffee bar and I had my coffee within 5 minutes. I saw a sign outside that said that their coffee is roasted in Nevada so I had to sip on some of that! When I visit a new coffee place I like to order an espresso. I feel like this is the drink that will introduce you to the type of coffee you're dealing with and you can make your judgement of the quality. There is nothing I love more than stopping into a new to me coffee shop. Drink Coffee Do Stuff did not disappoint! They have a mint latte on their summer seasonal menu that is the *chefs kiss* the perfect refreshing drink for the hot days ahead. My kids got the vanilla steamers which they loved and my husband got the chai which was incredibly spicy and delicious. Great location right in Truckee, beautiful clean space to sit and enjoy your drink! There were families playing games at a few tables, some reading books. "Hottest Coffee Spot in Truckee + Athletic Gear Stuck on Walls!" I have been to the sister store in Incline Village, but this was my first time here. I think this location is quite a bit larger. The business is located in a historical train station. As soon as you walk, in you feel welcome--Fun music plus fun decor. Of course, the entire theme of this business is sports, especially snowboarding. I bet the owners are snowboarding when they're not brewing coffee. That's probably also where they find staff. Check out the walls. There are special displays honoring star athletes residing in Truckee. It's sort of like a Smithsonian Museum, but a lot smaller They stick their athletic equipment on to the wall. So there are running shoes, snowboards, bikes, snowmobiles, etc. You get the idea. There's also a special exhibit to a famous photographer, that features his tripod. I didn't think the tripod overly exciting, but I still thought this was a classy touch. I hope someday to be featured on these sacred walls. On a cool spring afternoon, my wife and I each got the chocolate protein drink. Very tasty! I appreciate any excuse to drink or eat chocolate. It's pretty sweet, but believe it or not they do not add sugar, just honey. So not only is it tasty, it's healthy as well. I had a chance to chat with one of the friendly baristas, Kam, who made me a delightful Pine Latte. I've never had anything like this! Who knew you could drink Sage? Another Barista, Abigail, was also super friendly and inviting. What wonderful employees! Where do you find these people? Besides the large community table and other inside cables, there are lots of seats on the balcony outside. But since it was about -40°, I decided to stay in today. In warmer weather, I think these outdoor seats would be a good option. So my very first visit to this shop was a good one. I ordered an iced matcha latte - I appreciated that they had oat milk. The matcha was mixed in properly and it was a nice smooth drink, just wish it was sweeter or that they had an option to add sweetener of some kind like some coffee shops offer. I tried my husband's sweet latte and it was not my cup of tea (or coffee I guess) at all. It was a combo of bitter and watery.
