The shop was empty & we got to chat with the staff, played chess, ate our sandwiches and drank our coffees. Pros: - lots of parking - lots of small vendor gems & plants - great food, drinks, & service Must get: - Whole Garden Sandwich w/ Turkey - Maui Wowie was my choice. It kind of felt like we were in Hawaii but there's snow outside the window.. haha - lemonade w/ matcha foam was good! (Doesn't compare to the Bay buttt for Tahoe? It's solid!)

First, this is a coffee and Kava lounge. I don't know much about Kava, so I can only speak to the coffee. They do also have some food, but I am not sure how that works since there was only a single employee when we visited. Maybe only certain hours? Maybe it just takes some time? Not sure, we skipped food on this visit. We ordered one of their signature matcha drinks and a cold brew. The single employee was friendly and doing the best she could, but it got quite busy and I could tell she was struggling to keep up. The prices at the register were $0.25-$0.75 higher than what was listed on the menu board. Always a bit annoying... The matcha was good, the foam texture is very cool, however the cup was more ice than beverage. The cold brew was fine, nothing special but still tasty. I liked the vibes a lot when I walked in here. It's filled with plants and natural light, but then I looked around a bit more and the space just felt messy. There was stuff everywhere, boxes laying on the ground, and generally just a lot of clutter in the space. Overall, I think there are better coffee spots in South Lake Tahoe. If you're looking for Kava, give this place a go, but for coffee I would steer you somewhere else.

Stopping into Clyde's transports you to a cozy winter lodge, yet still offers a beautiful deck space for the warm Tahoe days. The staff was very kind, answering any questions we had, and drinks were served up quickly. The pastries here looked absolutely insane! It took everything I had to pass up on them- but next time, I have already decided I am getting the apple streusel. The drinks are a bit pricey here, but the portions are large. Most iced/blended drinks are around $7.50, but they are 16-oz servings. The Green Monkey (blended matcha, almond milk, and banana) was so creamy and sweet, and delicious. The smoothies are soft serve-based and offer a perfect sweetness level while still being fresh from the fruit and creamy like a milkshake. I also enjoyed a double shot to sample their espresso game- very tasty stuff. They have lots of merch for sale, including their coffee varieties, which I thought were priced well. I will be back to Clyde's Coffee Roasting. It may even be my new favorite South Lake Tahoe coffee house, even if it means I have to drive out of the way a few minutes. I'm a huge fan of Coffeebar in general, so when I saw a location I had never known about or been to, I threw it straight into the map and headed over around 1 PM. It took me 2-3 laps around the block to realize this place was tucked in an alleyway. It's a true hidden gem. I almost gave up when I couldn't find it and the map directions didn't make much sense. This location is a small shop with only a little bit of seating indoors and a few tables outdoors. This is primarily the roasters location, so it's a great place to enjoy the freshest of coffee but also a great place to purchase beans. They had a very large selection of beans for purchase. They still offer a decent menu and a few snacks, though much smaller than the other location. My wife enjoyed a matcha and I enjoyed one of the exclusive roastery blends on drip. Both drinks were very good. The quality of the drip coffee was superior. I want to visit again and try a coffee flight. That's something I've always wanted to do. Overall, friendly staff, delicious coffee, and even though it's hard to find, this hidden gem is well worth the stop. Cheers!

Not a ton of area to park, but I imagine people make it work when it gets super busy. I ordered the Purple Haze iced latte which is a lavender latte. I got it with a little more lavender syrup than normal as I do like lavender lattes. It was really good, but I wish I didn't have them add the lavender topping. That was my mistake. That topping is not edible and is not good. I should have known better. My husband order the brown sugar and spice iced latte. He liked it. It was packed with spices, and not like anything we have ever had before. I also got a bag of beans to go. The baristas asked if I wanted the beans ground, which I appreciated, but declined. The 2 baristas were super friendly and gave a lot of good recommendations. We will be back next time we are in Tahoe.

Everything is lavender and purple, which happens to be my favorite color, so it already feels like home. I always order the same thing: an Americano with oat milk. It's smooth, rich, and never bitter, and the oat milk makes it perfectly creamy without feeling heavy. They make it right every single time. And I have to give a special shoutout to Sara. She is so sweet and always remembers my order, which makes it feel even more personal and welcoming. That kind of consistency and kindness really stands out. The vibe here is everything. The music is great, the energy is warm, and it's such a peaceful place to sit, think, journal, or meet up with someone. It's clean, beautifully designed, and you can tell they truly care about the experience. It would not be out of place in a three-Michelin-star dining room. He roasts every batch himself over a wood fire, feeding a beautiful old roaster with logs he chops by hand. His espresso blends are composed with a level of precision that feels almost synesthetic. Ask him what he is aiming for and he will describe the roast in shapes: how wide the base should be, whether it tapers or flares, how many sides the finished polygon has. I have stood there listening, fascinated, with no real idea what he is talking about, then tasted the cup and understood anyway. Important to know: this is not a coffee shop. There is no barista counter. It is a modest storefront and warehouse, and if you stop by you will likely see Tim at the roaster, stoking the fire. The aroma is arresting from the street. That wood fire imparts a signature note that sets his coffee apart. It does not turn smoky in the jerky sense. It reads as a gentle campfire thread running through the cup, adding warmth and dimension without heaviness. Since moving away from Reno I miss these beans enough that I cave and pay the shipping. If you order Priority Mail, the bags arrive right in the early sweet spot of their drinkability window, perfect for dialing in extraction. If you know your way around a grinder and an espresso machine, get these beans. Tim Curry is an amazing craftsman making world-class coffee, one hand-roasted batch at a time.
