After hiking the Truckee tunnels, my husband and I decided we deserved a little reward, so we headed over to FiftyFifty Brewing Company. Luckily, we made it just in time for happy hour! We decided to share the DPP ribs as an appetizer and split the Truckee Burger for our entrée. For drinks, we went with a flight of dark beers and a flight of light beers so we could try a little of everything. The star of the food was definitely the ribs! They were fall-off-the-bone tender, flavorful and had just the right amount of sauce. They came on a bed of coleslaw, which was actually pretty good, but I couldn't help thinking how amazing those ribs would have been with fries underneath instead! The Truckee Burger was good, but in my opinion, not quite $25 good. As for the beer flights, the dark flight was definitely the winner for me! My favorites were the Eclipse Cuvée followed by the Eclipse Old Fashioned. On the lighter side, the Pilsner and Shreddd were also good. Overall, we really enjoyed our stop! If we find ourselves back in Truckee, I would absolutely stop in again, grab those ribs and another flight of dark beers. read more

We tried the new location for Fifty Fifty Brewing and absolutely loved it! We tried an IPA and a Stout, the chicken wings and fries. The new location is gorgeous and huge! There is an upstairs area, a swag room, a huge bar area, and plenty of outdoor seating, which is very dog-friendly! The beers were very tasty! The wings were large, crisp on the outside and delicious! The fries were well-seasoned, with plenty to share, and we had a great meal! The service was wonderful! Quick, efficient and very friendly! 50/50 is a staple in Truckee and pretty consistent from my experience. But tonight something weird happened. Tonight I ordered take out. A Cesar salad and nachos. My salad came with grapes.... And whole garlic cloves.. and I ordered shredded beef on my nachos but was given steak chunks instead. I called to try and remedy this but couldn't go back because I didn't have another hour to waste waiting for it to be fixed. read more

There's no parking available ever +/-2 hours around main mealtimes, in the parking lot or nearby streets. The interior of the building is like a warehouse, cavernous, too loud and echoing. Service was slow and not friendly on both visits, the first time seated in the middle of the warehouse space and only enough time to have a salad by the time I had to leave again. The beer I drank was forgettable. Second time I arrived to watch a local live band, hostess immediately told me 'no food upstairs' so I guess I won't be eating even though I'm hungry at dinner time? Our actual server was nice, friendly, and helpful but staff who delivered the food not very friendly or helpful and service very slow. We were a party of 6, ordered 2 shared plates (short rib poutine and chicken wings), then also ordered the short rib stroganoff, garlic and herb salmon, pork schnitzel, flat iron steak, and the double cut pork chop. Drinks arrived and then we waited about 30 minutes for the shared plates, then another 30 minutes for most of the entrées, but one side and one entree was missing, and had to wait for those items another 15 minutes. I was told they were out of any potatoes but fries and also the purple sweet potato puree listed as the side for the pork chop, with options limited to fries. Yet, when entrées arrived, the salmon dish had the purple sweet potato puree? The pork chop was so dry it crunched like chichiarron. My family enjoyed the flat iron steak, the short rib poutine, the chicken wings, and the stroganoff. The schnitzel itself was decent but the gravy was not warm and it was missing the potato pancake. The salmon was a little overcooked. Our server was kind and helpful. He did take the delayed schnitzel off the bill. The drinks were good. The menu said several beers were available, but they in fact weren't and the ones that said they were coming soon were available now, at least the server thought they were. We may never know as he only came back to bring our check and sheepishly asked if we wanted to order our drink now. I actually kind of felt sorry for him because he looked like he was stuck in the midst of chaos that he really couldn't control. He was a nice person, definitely not rude. The prices are reasonable for Truckee. The service was fast and the food arrived quickly. The entree meals were pretty good. The onion rings were awesome. Two complaints: 1- kids running around everywhere, and 2- the servers did not know anything or offer any information about the beers that they served, even when asked. My son ordered one draft, and the server replied, we are out of that one, but this other one tastes the same." Not a good answer for a brewpub. Yes we will for sure come back. We walked into Fifty Fifty hoping they might be able to help, and from the moment we arrived, the hostesses and front-of-house staff immediately jumped into action. They quickly put together a beautiful outdoor table for my sister and her fiancé to walk up to. They were genuinely excited to help, assisted me with decorating, and even found candles to make the setup feel extra special. The only good thing was the beer and friendly waitress when she occasionally stopped by the table. Fish and chips were the worst ever- like they were old and it was as though they sat under heat lamp forever. Waitress found out how bad they were when she finally returned so I could tell her, after every one else had already eaten their food. The side of fingerling potato's tasted as if they had been cooked the day before and reheated. They were dry and hard and inedible. I picked at the inside of a few that were soft but not of them were just rock hard and overcooked or overheated. The asparagus was good. The fries were good. The service was good, out server was quick and the hostess was very welcoming . The nachos were not the best. The cheese seemed to be microwave to the point it hardened on the chips. Service was terrible, the waitress asked if we wanted drinks (we did-we asked for a beer menu) she came back 5 mins later without a menu and asked if we wanted drinks again....then we reiterated we wanted a beer menu and she brought it, but literally never returned for our drink order. The food came out (not from our waitress) it, tasted decent, but $16 for a kids meal is outrageous (especially when it doesn't come with a drink ) We never saw our waitress again after she dropped off the beer menu until she asked if we wanted the check, then she TOLD me the price and held the iPhone up for me to pay--like, no paper check at all to review and you aren't even gonna let me hold the iPhone to pay with privacy? Because the tip will reflect the service... They also stated on the menu that they charged $ .50 for any ' sauce' requests...which is so weird considering that none of the meals were cheap. Not sure if they followed through with this because I couldn't actually view my check. Just went to Fifty Fifty. Fun family atmosphere for games if that's what you're looking for...and don't care about food quality. There was a big game on so service was slow. Nice building. The food looked good from the outside but it just wasn't. I could not get myself to eat the fried chicken sandwich. I just couldn't! Not sure what part of the chicken they fried for that. Something brown with a lot of connecting parts. And the coleslaw heavy in mayo had no flavor. Ughhh...I hate to waste money on bad food. I have to say the shrimp tacos ordered at my table didn't look too great either. The Shrimp almost looked under cooked and covered with the flavorless slaw. It wasn't devoured.
