    Strawberry sour- incredible!

Yes yes yes Wanted a beer after a day at the beach. The sours are incredible. I wish I could take home an unlimited supply. It's in a parking lot so it's not scenic or anything but the beer was perfection.

Cool little brewery a bit away from downtown Truckee. Came here after skiing for some après ski. It's not a spacious place, but we were able to find some seats by the window for 4. They had a decent selection of beers as well, maybe around 10-15? I tried the peanut butter stout and it was super tasty! We also had the sour and the dunk le which were both good as well. I recall the price being around $7 for a pint. Seems like the locals hang out here as well so I enjoyed my time here!

We stopped in after skiing and we keep coming back! The nachos are the best I have ever had. Everything else we tried was really good. If your hungry, come here. The atmosphere is easy going and the service is fabulous. While you here have a beer!

I had been hearing about this new brewery for a while now, and finally got around to checking them out. Located in a cool converted warehouse on the north end of town, Truckee Brewing Company has come out all guns blazing, and really impressed me with their great quality beers. Glancing at their menu, you will see there is something that covers most all the bases as far as styles go. However, IPAs reign supreme here by a fair margin. And just fair warning, but it also appears many of their brews tend towards the higher ABV levels, to boot. I started out with a glass of their session ale. At 5.2%, it is for sure a stronger sort of session, but drinks very well and really hit the spot after a day of traipsing through the mountains. Moved on to a glass of their Brut IPA, which is really fascinating and which I high recommend trying out. Pretty sure it's the type of yeast they use that makes it reminiscent of Champagne, but this is a deliciously mellow beer, fairly dry, and yet without too much bitterness. Polishing the afternoon off with a few tasters, I can say the Kolsch is quite nice, and the DIPA is very smooth and has a great punch of hop flavors. Should you need something to munch on, they have a few food items for sale. And should you find a beer you want to enjoy later, then growler and crowler fills are available in size ranges from 16 to 64 ounces, as are keg rental options. Prices are sort of what you'd expect in the Truckee area, with pints being a dollar or so higher than in less touristy locales. However, their growler fill prices are very reasonable flat rate based on volume you're getting, so really good deal there. Parking is pretty abundant and easy, and the service here was exceptionally friendly. Really the only downsides I can think of is that their taproom is not too large, and so can get crowded fairly quickly, and that being a smaller operation, some of their brews may not be on tap, so be sure to check the boards to see what's available. But all things considered, I was thoroughly impressed with Truckee Brewing. I think they are off to an amazing start, and hope to swing by again soon. Cheers, guys!

Pro tip: if you see Bubblegum on an IPA tasting note, don't get that beer, it's a fault.
    Chris R.

Bubblegum is not something you want in your IPAs -- not saying you've got a diacetyl bomb but your brew temps are too high. That bubblegum is a fault and the temps are letting the yeast produce some serious esters. Those are some bad beers that should have never made it to the menu, let alone putting the fault with the tasting notes like you intended it. The other styles were okay, I like the Kolsch and the session ale. I mean I could have caught some bad batches but boy those beers were rough.

Red Ale and West Coast IPA
    Amy R.

A small brewery North of downtown Truckee with good beer and a nice vibe. Inside seating that looks out in the brew works. We've been meaning to come here after getting a recommendation from some locals while visiting another backwoods brewery. We had the Red Ale using one of my favorite hops, Mosaic. A nice blend of roasted malts and light florals. West Coast IPA is clearly what is stated. Classic West Coast flavors of citrus and hops with just enough of that dank bitterness to wake up the tastebuds. We should have brought the growler to take some home.

If you ask me for places that stand out in the greater Reno-Tahoe region brew scene, The Good Wolf…read morewould be near the top of the list. For years now, I've been saying these guys make some of the best, most unique beers in our area. And anyone looking for a solid pint or some creative things to try, would do well to swing by. Firstly, I absolutely love the location. It's a cozy little spot in the north Truckee industrial area. But step through the doors, and you enter a space that can only be described as a mix of hippy commune and witch's lair, with some delightfully quirky decor, and an incredibly friendly staff. Really does feel like a hidden gem. But as for r the beers themselves; in short, I think these are some of the best quality, and most niche types of brews you'll find around here. They have a smaller menu, but what they have is dominated by their Forest Beer series. These are concoctions made with all sorts of foraged ingredients from the forests, fields, and farms close to Truckee. Always changing, it is something to try out. The Borrowed Bines used fresh cut hops, the Bay Shore uses locally culled bay leaves, the Range of Light uses picked juniper berries, and the Dirt Candy uses mushrooms that grow in the woods. They also have been breaking into brewing their own apple cider, which is delicious but quite strong. Plus, they will usually have N/A options with their house lemonade or brewed soda on tap, too. So yeah, the menu almost certainly has something for everyone. Prices for everything are pretty typical.for the area, usually around $8-9 per pint. Though my one sort of gripe is that the smaller 4-5 ounce tasters are like $4 each, a bit pricier than most other tasters, so that makes it quickly more pricy to try out a lot of their menu. If you want any beers to-go, sadly they only offer a few at this juncture, and in bottles. And there is no food here, just a few snacks for sale. But make sure to browse their swag stands, as they have some eclectic merch. All in all, I definitely encourage any beer fans to come and check this spot out. Been one of my favorites for years, and I'll bet it can easily become one of yours, too. Cheers, all!

Three Sheets Brewing Company - Great Service, Underwhelming Food…read more We visited Three Sheets Brewing Company hoping for a satisfying meal and some craft brews, but walked away feeling a bit underwhelmed -- with a few highlights and several misses. Food: The biggest disappointment was the hamburger, which we ordered medium-rare but received well-done. It was dry, overcooked, and lacked any real flavor -- honestly, we wouldn't order it again. The pulled pork sandwich had decent taste, though it was on the dry side and could've used more BBQ sauce to bring it to life. The shrimp were fine but forgettable. The seafood bisque was probably the best thing we had -- rich and creamy with a nice depth of flavor. The crab cakes had good seasoning but were a bit soggy on the outside. We also ordered fries, but they never made it to the table, which was frustrating. Drinks: We tried two of their house beers, and while drinkable, they were just average -- nothing that stood out or made us want to order a second round. Service: On the bright side, our waitress was very pleasant and attentive, doing her best despite the kitchen issues. Her friendly service helped soften the experience. Final Thoughts: While the vibe is relaxed and the service was great, the food execution and beer quality didn't quite deliver. There's potential here, but it needs more consistency -- and attention to detail -- to be worth a return visit.
