Simply great from start to finish! We decided to try Truckee Brewing for a casual beer and dinner. What a find! Brian was the best, attentive and knowledgeable and friendly. Service was off the chart fast. Hubby had a brew and we shared the Philly Cheesesteak wrap. Perfect combo. The filling was tasty and tender, with juicy meat and veggies! Cool little brewery a bit away from downtown Truckee. Came here after skiing for some après ski. It's not a spacious place, but we were able to find some seats by the window for 4. They had a decent selection of beers as well, maybe around 10-15? I tried the peanut butter stout and it was super tasty! We also had the sour and the dunk le which were both good as well. I recall the price being around $7 for a pint. Seems like the locals hang out here as well so I enjoyed my time here! read more

I had been hearing about this new brewery for a while now, and finally got around to checking them out. Located in a cool converted warehouse on the north end of town, Truckee Brewing Company has come out all guns blazing, and really impressed me with their great quality beers. Glancing at their menu, you will see there is something that covers most all the bases as far as styles go. However, IPAs reign supreme here by a fair margin. And just fair warning, but it also appears many of their brews tend towards the higher ABV levels, to boot. I started out with a glass of their session ale. At 5.2%, it is for sure a stronger sort of session, but drinks very well and really hit the spot after a day of traipsing through the mountains. Moved on to a glass of their Brut IPA, which is really fascinating and which I high recommend trying out. Pretty sure it's the type of yeast they use that makes it reminiscent of Champagne, but this is a deliciously mellow beer, fairly dry, and yet without too much bitterness. Polishing the afternoon off with a few tasters, I can say the Kolsch is quite nice, and the DIPA is very smooth and has a great punch of hop flavors. Should you need something to munch on, they have a few food items for sale. And should you find a beer you want to enjoy later, then growler and crowler fills are available in size ranges from 16 to 64 ounces, as are keg rental options. Prices are sort of what you'd expect in the Truckee area, with pints being a dollar or so higher than in less touristy locales. However, their growler fill prices are very reasonable flat rate based on volume you're getting, so really good deal there. Parking is pretty abundant and easy, and the service here was exceptionally friendly. Really the only downsides I can think of is that their taproom is not too large, and so can get crowded fairly quickly, and that being a smaller operation, some of their brews may not be on tap, so be sure to check the boards to see what's available. But all things considered, I was thoroughly impressed with Truckee Brewing. I think they are off to an amazing start, and hope to swing by again soon. Cheers, guys! read more

Focused mostly on IPAs, you may be disappointed that their variety of other brews are not as expansive as others, but what they offer is outstanding. We ordered the shrimp ceviche, beet salad, and caprese salad. The ceviche was alright, although very spicy and not that salty. The beet salad was very meager for the price, and was also so doused in honey that it was sickly sweet and hard to swallow. The caprese salad was great, but again, way overpriced. read more

Bubblegum is not something you want in your IPAs -- not saying you've got a diacetyl bomb but your brew temps are too high. That bubblegum is a fault and the temps are letting the yeast produce some serious esters. Those are some bad beers that should have never made it to the menu, let alone putting the fault with the tasting notes like you intended it. The other styles were okay, I like the Kolsch and the session ale. I mean I could have caught some bad batches but boy those beers were rough. read more

A small brewery North of downtown Truckee with good beer and a nice vibe. Inside seating that looks out in the brew works. We've been meaning to come here after getting a recommendation from some locals while visiting another backwoods brewery. We had the Red Ale using one of my favorite hops, Mosaic. A nice blend of roasted malts and light florals. West Coast IPA is clearly what is stated. Classic West Coast flavors of citrus and hops with just enough of that dank bitterness to wake up the tastebuds. We should have brought the growler to take some home. read more

This place has quickly become a staple of Truckee. From the tasty beers to the friendly service to the clean, bright space itself...TBC is a fun hang. The beers are always fire..crisp, delicious and flavorful. My favorite thing to do is go in and get a little taster flight of their newest additions with a couple of my old favs. I'm really partial to their Porter in the winter. It's smooth, chocolate-y and just the perfect addition on a cold, snowy day. I love that you can get To-Go cans and mix-and-match the flavors. They can it for you then and there, straight from the tap so there's nothing fresher you can enjoy at home (unless you purchase a pony keg from them - which is always a good idea!). Came here by myself after skiing one day, it was very busy but the host found room for me. I ordered a beer and a pizza and was blown away. The beer was unique and really refreshing. And the pizza! The crust was to die for, the toppings were fresh. I couldn't stop eating. The staff was very kind and attentive, and even though they were busy they were having a great time. I enjoyed it so much I brought my spouse back the next week. He was just as impressed by the beer and the food as I was. The customer service was excellent, atmosphere was laid back, and the food! Wow......... just wow! Truckee Brewing has come out swinging for the fence. I can't remember the last time I was so impressed with a brewery's line-up. I started out with 10 tasters. One by one, I kept for waiting to run into a bad beer. All 10 ranged from good to great. There wasn't one beer in the bunch that I would not have ordered a pint of. The Kolsch was a huge standout. Just the right amount of "Kolschy" flavor for me. The red had a great malt backbone, but maintained just the right balance with the hops. The Brut was a neat curveball with a wonderful aroma. The space itself was fun, with an unobstructed view of the 5 barrel brewing system. Lot's of reclaimed metal and wood accents round out the space. A bit limited on the seating. I'm guessing once the word gets out, it will become difficult to find a seat here! read more

We go to Truckee about 5 times a year and while we are there we generally go to Lunch. so we tried Truckee Brewing company: Less than I thought it should be. I ordered a meat lover's pizza, the crust was under cooked - soft and mushie, The topping were not hot, but the cheese was melted. My wife had a wrap that she thought was good. The Beer is $9.00 for a 16 oz. glass, a little pricey but this is California! Overall I would not go back, I think 50/50 just down the road has better food and beer. read more

Plenty of beers on tap. My friend and I shared 4 different ones, all solid and good quality. There's no prices listes but expect to pay about $10 each. We intended to get a small bite appetizers to go along with grog but that really isn't an option. Food wasn't part of the plan when they designed the place. We enjoyed our lunch and two different beers on the deck which is a nice, relaxing ambiance. We shared a refreshing salad and their house made pastrami sandwich. The pastrami was very tender. 1: Their beer is 7.50$ a pint. 2: The "pints" are really tulip glasses which hold less than a pint. 3: They had no original or interesting beers on tap. Well, their beer was pretty good but was not original or interesting. First thing I noticed after I ordered two beers and handed the bartender 20$, was I only got a few ones in return. I figured they were maybe 5-6$ a pint but asked how much they were and she said 7.50$. Then they served my ipa in a tulip glass, which holds less than a pint. I live locally and the place just seemed like a "brewery in a can" type of place to cash in on rich tourists. They had no original beers on tap, no ingredients listed, no mention of anything special about them. The beers I had were good just way too expensive for what they were, generic pale ale, ipa, double ipa, etc. I might go back for happy hour... I would recommend that they lower their prices, actually pour the correct volume of beer ordered, and give their brewmaster some leeway to create original beers that reflect the culture and vibe of truckee. Until that happens you are better off buying a twelve pack of Sierra Nevada and a candy bar at the gas station, it would be cheaper and more exciting than ordering two "pints" at the brewery. Edit: After looking online i see that they describe their beers better, at the taproom all i saw were signs for "IPA" "Double IPA" etc. And it seems that they do offer pretty good specials that might be a better option for locals on a beer budget. I just didn't know since nothing was listed. I'm not sure if their tulip glass was really 16oz but it just felt small. After reviewing their comment I'll up my review to three stars with a promise to come back in the future during happy hour to try some more. read more
