We were in the area on a recent Sunday and looking for the type of brewery tasting room that wasn't just a big restaurant disguised as a brewery. We found Donner Creek Brewing, and we're glad that we did! Here's what we noticed: - Really great selection of beers, including some very interesting ones. A couple were a bit smokey, which we liked (especially the mango one)! My wife and I split a flight of four 5-ounce pours, which enabled us to try a brand range of types. - Comfortable, relaxed vibe with a great playlist. A bunch of different seating areas, including at the bar, provided lots of options. - The person working the bar was chatty, which we like, since it gives us a chance to learn more about the brewery, etc. Bottom line: We're glad that we found Donner Creek Brewing and will definitely be back! read more

July 18, 2025 - Truckee Back in the area, we couldn't resist stopping in again for a drink. They're dog-friendly, and this time there was live music playing. My husband ordered a beer, and I enjoyed a glass of white wine. Service came with a smile, the music set a great vibe, and we found a comfortable seat inside where we could relax with our pup. Have you ever had Havarti and sourdough melded together with blessed heat? Maybe a little pickle? You're in for a treat of truly pure gastronomical delight. The beer? We stopped into today to finally give them a try. When we arrived, the place was empty, This gave us a chance to talk to Christina, order a flight, plus one, and put our food order in. The place is tucked in a small strip mall. We enjoyed all 5 beers we had. A farm ale, saison, sour, brown, and a stout. Christina, "the woman show" got out food out quickly and just in time. It got crazy busy all of a sudden. Both the Berry Marries Bacon and Jalapopper were quite tasty. I loved how crunchy toasted the bread was from the panini press, but my wife would have a little less toasty. They also have guest taps and a large case of canned beer, cider, and kombucha. Overall, it's a great pico (smaller than nano) brewery. A separate shut out to Christina. She is super friendly, knowledgeable, and runs the place like a champ. She is literally amazing. We were in Truckee for a day and my wife came across this place. Breweries are usually a good family friendly stop for us and this was no exception. The people here were fantastic, the locals and the staff. The back room had been converted into a play area for kids which was great. Good beer selection and having NA beer is always a plus. I also quite enjoyed my house-brewed mango hard seltzer, and my husband thought his Goddess beer was good. We ordered at the bar, and they then brought our food out to us. The gal was a little unfriendly at first but warmed up pretty quickly. You can totally tell this is a local hangout for "locals". The slogan is apropos considering the area. My daughter and I traveled to Truckee to pick up a prescription. It was lunchtime and after trying two places that were closed we landed at Donner Creek. It's a pretty and clean space and looked to have a lot of nice beer but we were there for lunch. No fountain drinks either but they have a nice water station set up. I ordered the Merry Berry sammie and my daughter ordered the jalapeño sammie. Goodness the sandwiches were delicious! Crunchy and stretchy cheesy goodness! And the little pickle served with it was yum! Who knows if we'll make it back but it was a happy find today! read more

Donner Creek Brewery - Truckee , CA - August 9, 2023 This is a cool little micro brewery located just south of Interstate 80 in a little strip mall to the west of Hwy 89. We came in after a morning of paddling on Donner Lake for some lunch and drinks. The brewery is owned by husband/wife team Greg and Wendy. Wendy greeted us at the front counter as we came in and went over some of the drink options. She gave us a few samples. They have house and guest beers and ciders. They are primarily a panini sandwich shop with some interesting choices, including chicken, pork, and cheese paninis. They have a couple soup choices, soft pretzels, and a gluten free sausage platter. They have ample sitting and the overall feeling is like being at a ski chalet. They have a special play area for young kids as well as a pool table. We split the Berry Marries Bacon panini and got the butternut squash soup. The sandwich was very good and my wife liked the soup. I would have preferred the soup to be creamier. I tried both the Lil'Biskit West Coast IPA and the U Crazy Bro? IPA. Both tasty and to my liking. My wife got a guest cider and liked it as well. They have live acoustic music on Wednesday and Friday from 6-8 pm and pool tournaments on Mondays. They have a good selection of their beers in crowlers as well brewery stickers. This day happened to be my birthday and when Greg found out, he brought me a free pint of a special collaboration beer that had just been kegged. He was planning to submit it to a beer competition. This place is so good. After spending the morning in urgent care from a ski accident I walked into Donner Creek Brewing depressed because my ski season was over. I sat at the bar and ordered the 7.9 ABV hazy IPA. It was delicious and it definitely killed my pain halfway through the pint. I then ordered the saucy pig sandwich and couldn't be more pleased. The panini style grill was perfectly warm and crunchy. Sour dough bread was perfect. Plenty of sweet, tasty pulled pork, and gooey melted cheese. It was heaven. Service was great. Cool vibe. Dog friendly with a water bowl and cute pooches hanging out with their owners. Kid friendly too with games and a kids room in back. I'll definitely stop by next time I'm in the area. read more

Good selection of their own brews and some other locals on tap. Hard cider is also on tap. They have a selection of cans in the cooler by the door too. We had a great time here at first. The food and drinks were great and we were ready to leave on a positive note. Unfortunately, everything changed as we were walking out. Our group, which included both people of color and white friends visiting from the Bay Area, was stopped by a white employee with curly hair and overalls who accused us of stealing a beer. She demanded that several of us open our bags but did not ask our white friend to do the same. Even though it is illegal for her to make us open our bags, we complied to prove that nothing was taken. When it became clear that we had done nothing wrong, she did not apologize. Instead, she told us to "chill out" when we questioned why we were being singled out. This was racist, offensive, and completely unacceptable. No matter how good the food and drinks were, the way we were treated overshadowed everything. Management needs to address this behavior immediately because no customer should ever leave feeling targeted and disrespected. read more
