I recently discovered "Cornerstone Bakery" in Truckee and had the pleasure of sampling their Vanilla Bean Pull Apart and Caramel Almond Brownie. The Vanilla Bean Pull Apart evoked nostalgic memories of my grandmother's traditional recipe, offering a delightful, melt-in-your-mouth experience. However, the Caramel Almond Brownie was particularly exceptional. I highly recommend Cornerstone Bakery for all your dessert requirements.

We came in with a group of 8 for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by how fast and efficient the service was. You order at the counter, and even with a larger group, everything came out quickly, correctly, and hot. Great unique menu! The inside is clean, small but cozy, and the food was beautifully presented--clearly made with care. Every plate looked like something you'd want to photograph before diving in (which I did!) Very tasty, fresh, and flavorful. Not great for large parties, although we were accommodated at different tables. Recommend!

Cornerstone Bakery is truly a one-of-a-kind gem in the heart of Truckee. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with genuine warmth-the cashier was incredibly friendly, and you could tell the chefs genuinely love what they do. That passion comes through in every bite. My favorite was the BLTA; the candied bacon paired perfectly with the fresh focaccia, creating that ideal balance of savory, sweet, and satisfying. Every ingredient tasted thoughtfully prepared and incredibly fresh. The ambiance was relaxed and authentically local, with the comforting aroma of freshly baked bread filling the space. It's the kind of place that instantly feels inviting and special. I'll definitely be coming back!

The pastries here are HUGE and beautiful, they almost look to good to eat! We got a variety for family that was in town and they raved about them. Coming back on Friday for their challah, can't wait to try it. Fast and friendly service. Easy parking

Walked in for coffee left with pastries I mean cmon how could you not and they did not disappoint. The stand out definitely was the chocolate croissant! Flaky and packed with flavor. If you want to skip the crowd on the weekends you can always order online.

This is my ultimate FAV Truckee stop!!! Their carbs, I mean treats, are everything! No matter what you try, you won't be disappointed. Whenever we stay in the area, I try and go here at least once. I was lucky to go here 2 days in a row this weekend. Yesterday we got coffee cake and a fruit pastry (both delicious) and today we got another coffee cake (my bf really likes them here) and I got their vanilla bean pull apart (it always sells out) , croissant and a cookie. We usually also get lattes, their lattes aren't anything special, but pastries and lattes go hand and hand. I promise you that this place is AMAZING and once you try it, it will become a Truckee staple, like it has for me! The girls working here are always sweet, they have a handful of chairs in the bakery to sit at and their is also a small breakfast kitchen next door, they is also pretty yummy.

The best bakery on the North Shore. I ordered a custom cake, and it came out so beautiful! I ordered over the phone, and the ladies working at Cornerstone couldn't be any sweeter. They were patient, accommodating, and made sure every detail wasn't overlooked. Very seamless transactions all around and couldn't have been happier with the most perfect cake to celebrate my sons baptism. Highly recommend for your next event!

What a great surprise! There are so many coffee shop /bakeries in Truckee and I have tried quite a few. I kind of stuck with the ones I knew. A colleague gave me a Ham and cheese croissant from here and I telling you...I really wish they had not. Now every morning it's what I want for breakfast. I'm not kidding. I am not sure if it Gruyère cheese or Swiss, but it's amazing. The ham has a slight smoked flavor and the texture is REAL ham. Not pressed. Finally there is no skimping on the butter for the croissant. Just perfect! No I've had croissants from all over the world, and one of the things that makes a croissant stand out is the number of folds in the amount of butter. The croissants here are just perfect. Here are a few things that I've tried: Ham and cheese croissant Chocolate croissant Everything croissant Mushroom Galette Mixed berry Galette Apple Galette Everything that I have tried here has been perfect. That is very rare in a bakery. As well, the employees are attentive friendly and fast. Everyone is so happy, I must imagine that the owner is a great person because everyone seems to enjoy working here. I know this is speculation, but it is rare to see so many happy workers. All I can say is good job. Keep it up Mr./Mrs. owner of CornerStone as I have found my favorite bakery. And this is a hard feat considering how many bakeries there are. And I have tried them all. Not sure if it's polite to name them. The ' Friday only' bakery, the one near the DMV. One down the street from them. The one on Jiboom. One Near the old Paul Mitchell... They all are good but, this is croissant heaven. Thank you very much

I finally had some some time while in the area and made sure to visit. I was not prepared for the sheer volume of GF items! It is not the largest bakery, but that doesn't matter when the variety of pastries and sweets are as high caliber as this! I had some questions about items, and the staff was super friendly and answered them for me. I had the hardest time deciding what to get. I had to go with something simple and comforting. I chose the pull apart cinnamon roll. It was everything I dreamed that it would be. Soft, fluffy, cinnamony, and coated with cream cheese frosting. Paired with a vanilla latte, it was the absolute highlight of my week. There are some indoor low tables and high top tables if you would like to sit inside. A couple of tables outside are available as well. I've had a favorite coffee shop in Truckee already, but I think this one will be my new recommendation.

As an avid baker/cook, I was wary of some of the products after reading some reviews on Yelp. After waiting in line for an hour, reviewing the online menu, then ordering a selection of goodies, I am here to tell you that this place is worth it. Granted I had to stand in line for an hour and there is no seating, but people in line were civil and friendly. No meltdowns. Nobody going "postal". If you want coffee, there is an excellent coffee shop a couple doors down. Many people in line were drinking coffee while waiting. Because I returned home right after purchasing my box of baked goods, I was able to re-heat the pastries, which I highly recommend, and enjoy them on the patio. Here's what I had: ham harissa red onion Parmesan croissant - reminded me of chorizo pistachio baklava morning bun - complex flavors of fruit and spice kale potato tomato onion cheddar cheese quiche - best quiche ever raspberry peach almond pie bar (gf and vegan) - very fruity chocolate chunk cookie - lots of chocolate passion fruit Basque cheesecake - creamy with a passion fruit topping Due to elevation, the croissant wasn't like other croissants I've had with their many layers, but I enjoyed the ham harissa nonetheless which reminded me of Mexican chorizo. Because there is a 70¢ charge per large box, the locals brought their own Tupperware to haul their treasures back home and maybe to reduce landfill. In addition to freeze-dried strawberry granola, dog treats are also sold here. Strategy for next time: Show up before 8am opening or closer to closing time 2pm (you risk product shortage) to avoid long wait times. Bring my own Tupperware to avoid extra charges. Apparently, July 4th weekend is the busiest day of the year...just my luck.
