The sconce was my favorite. It was so moist and delicious. The croissant was giant and so flaky. I haven't tried the cinnamon roll or the mixed berry thingy. Ok, I'm cool with lines, and Sun morning there was a line. I waited about 15 min to order. One poor girl filling orders and taking the ca-ching from people. I ordered about seven items, two scones (blueberry and nectarine). Those were the highlight of the order. The cinnamon knots and rolls rounded out the order. The crazy thing is, the girl tried to stuff all the items into a box meant for one or two. And anybody that has seen the cinnamon rolls, they're about 10 inches tall, would believe they can fit into a little box. She did this, and honestly I wasn't paying attention to her packaging prowess until she displayed it to me and asked, "Is this ok?" As I noticed scones stuffed on top of a cinnamon roll and an overall disaster. Since the line was long, I was nice and just took it. Walked out of the place with items about to fall out of the box. All in all, just an ok place. The cream cheese frosting on the cinnamon roll was too far to the cream cheese side imo. And the cooking method made for the dough of the cinnamon roll to be raw. What a great bakery to have in Truckee. We placed a large order for Thanksgiving week and were delighted at all of the great bakery and pasty offerings. Loved - blueberry crumb pie - pecan bar - ham and cheese croissant - lemon blueberry scone - apple galette - 'candy bars' So so - they forgot to pack part of the order so after making a 15 minute drive back to our house, we had to turn back and make a 30 min round trip for the missing item. Not only was I surprised to find this bakery in old town Truckee, but they still had plenty of baked goods late in the day. The ham and cheese croissants and everything croissants are as big as your head. We ordered one of each. The everything croissant is filled with cream cheese. It was nice and buttery and the cream cheese made it even more amazing. I also got a pumpkin scone. It was on the smaller side, but it had a lot of pumpkin flavor and the frosting had just the right amount of sweetness. The service was friendly. They also have lemon bars, brownies, homemade candy bars, personal sized cheesecakes, bread pudding, and many more desserts. Writing this review is against my best interests but I also feel a duty to tell everybody about this bakery because I love it so much! All the baked goods are incredible but if you can only pick one thing, you must get their chocolate croissant. They are by far the best croissants I have eaten anywhere, full stop, end of story. They're gigantic so I cut them in half, and save some for the next day. Pro tip for reheating: use a steam oven. Their croissants consistently sell out so I recommend going before noon to increase your chances of scoring one. I am very nervous whenever I go inside the bakery and see a long line of customers and I'm beyond ecstatic when I see they still have chocolate croissants for sale. Parking is not free. You need to pay at the meter. Kinda of defeats the purpose of getting a $5 pastries. Coffee quality is good. I wish I come in the morning because croissant are all sol out by noon time. Inside seating for some 1-2 people ok a long hallway. We comes in a groups of 14, there is no space for us at all. We want to sit down to eat dessert but since there is no space, we just buy some food/drinks to go. Would not recommend to come in a big group. I like that you can see the bakers in action so there are no secrets. The iced coffee was delicious and the Free taste cookie snacks at the counter were on par. There was indoor seating and a small bench outside to sit and drink your drink. They sell delicious local honey, birthday cakes, small dessert treats and a variety of different refreshments. Cornerstone is adorable, has great customer service, and can help out in a pinch! I definitely recommend them for special orders. The ONLY reason I give 4 stars and not 5 is due in large part to I've only had special orders. I haven't really been able to sample their daily case assortment. I can't eat gluten so their day to day items don't typically work for me. I haven't been in the shop for a couple of months but the daily selections typically aren't gluten free. However, it smells amazing in shop. Cute and friendly feel inside a very old building in Downtown Truckee. If you're looking for parking, it's honestly easiest to park in the public lot on River, pay 50 cents for 20 minutes and walk over. read more

I've ordered pies from here before and they have been delicious. Was extremely disappointed with a custom cake though and it was just terrible enough to write this review. I ordered a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting and provided an cake image to copy for decorating. Decoration was nice but cake was inedible. Frosting hard and not sweet at all. Chocolate cake was dense with an unpleasant texture. Looked like the frosting had compressed the cake and there was liquid oozing. Spent over $150 and had to toss the cake. We ordered a Bloody Mary at the kitchen and went over to the bakery to grab a coffee. After waiting for 10 minutes my partner went to tell them that we were at a table in the bakery, the person taking orders barely acknowledged them. After waiting another 15-20 minutes they went to go ask about our drink, it was only a Bloody Mary after all. A server told them "oh I meant to tell you that we ran out of that a while ago.." so we got a refund and left. Overall the atmosphere was very off for both of us, I think because the service was extremely inexperienced and not very friendly. I asked what the most popular items were and they suggested the Vanilla Bean Pull Apart, Lemon Blueberry Scone, and Chocolate Chip Cookie. The clear-cut winner of these three was the Vanilla Bean Pull Apart. Whoa, this pastry is delicious! It was light as a feather, supremely flaky, and perfectly sweetened. This one is best with a hot beverage on the side. Warning: you could easily eat 3 or 4 of these pull aparts in a sitting. Thankfully I'd only purchased one. I love this place!!! Thank you for coming to Truckee all those years ago when all I had to endure those cold nights was baked good from Ralph's and that baker by Sears who left me thirsty with her dense baked good. But I digress. The pull-aparts literally pull me apart. I become unhinged with the tug of a tiny golden, flakey cube. Oh they are good!! This place is good and Truckee is often infested with tourists from the Bay. Don't dilly-dally, they do sell out and the pull-aparts go first. I love that it's woman run. They also have specials around the holidays that you need to preorder. They did a date cake for my one Chrustmas. I swear it transported me to 1876 London where Dickens and shared a slice off this cake and a cup of tray. Classic!! They just took it over the lobster roll place next door. The vanilla pull apart is like no other. I got mine warmed up and it was amazing. Each layer was perfectly sweet. There isn't a lot of room to sit and eat but that's not a deal breaker. Would definitely recommend trying out any one of their delicious baked goods, they have a large variety. Drinks: I've ordered a couple drinks here--iced lattes, mochas, chai lattes, etc--and while most of the time the drinks are quite good, they can be a little inconsistent.
