This is, by far, the top bakery in Tahoe. No kitschy cupcakes with food coloring or low-quality ingredients here, but wholesome pure chocolate, sugars and fresh dough. Ask them to heat up their goodies in the oven for an especially delicious treat! You've gotta get the hearty trail cookie with oats and chocolate and the massive cinnamon roll, which has a tinge of lemon in the frosting that's unique and not overpowering. I've had this key lime pie 3 times now. I used to make handmade pie, I've tried a lot of pies. This is hands down the best, light and airy key lime pie I've ever had in my life. The Graham cracker crust is thick and compacted. It doesn't appear to have any colorings added. I don't want to try other key lime pies now, I've found the one. The flavors are extremely balanced. I'm no food critic but it's just extremely delicious, everytime I've eaten it it's made me extremely happy and I wanted to give a special thank you to the ladies at the bakery. read more

After a little shopping at the consignment store we discovered that a new bakery just opened. Obviously we had to figure out what the luxurious smells were all about so we ordered two cold-brew coffees, one lemon poppy seed scone and a cinn bun to take home. DELICIOUS. This review is purely for customer service, although the baked goods look delicious! A beloved member of our family is seriously ill at the hospital in Truckee. My parents and I were able to visit him and loved ones about a week ago; right after we left, he took a turn for the worse. It's appropriate now that he's surrounded solely by his nearest and dearest, but our family branch is doing our best to send notes and memories to be read to him, and little gifts just to hold him -- and everyone -- close. We also live in France, which makes gift-giving a little logistically difficult, especially to be delivered to a hospital. Enter The Bakery's wonderful employee, Grace. We liked what we read about The Bakery online, and called to ask if there was any way we could place an order and pay for it over the phone, and somehow have it delivered to the hospital. The Bakery isn't really set up for that, but Grace made it happen, despite being the only employee working at the time. A couple of international calls later, she'd put together an amazing assortment of cookies and things, and promised to take them over to the hospital herself, on her own time, after her shift ended; she even texted a pic of the boxes of good stuff she delivered, so we all could grin at it and imagine the looks on everyone's faces when presented with such an awesome-looking assortment of love 'n sugar. Grace was kind and sympathetic, and went over and beyond to connect a whole bunch of loved ones separated by a continent and ocean, and in the process, at a difficult time, brought a lot of joy to people in your community, and in our little part of the world. You made an excellent hire, Bakery management! And when we're back in town, we look forward to stopping by in person to try some of what looked to be a mouthwatering collection of goodies. Omg this new bakery in Truckee named Bakery is the best thing to happen to bread in forever - we bought 1 of each thing remaining in the case at 11am and a loaf of bread - everything was so ridiculously delicious, rivaling that French bakery that comes to the San Mateo farmers market on Saturdays - we voted the lemon raspberry star thing the best (we got the last one!), seconded by the hazelnut chocolate croissant-y thing, and the poppyseed muffin rivals Emily's of Santa Cruz - the fancy donut, scones, raspberry muffin plain croissant () and the almond croissant were all fabulous! I've now tried the sourdough, five seed, rye, as well as garlic/olive. They are all truly incredible but certainly my favorites are the sourdough and the garlic/olives. You will not be disappointed if you pick up one of these spectacular loaves from Bakery. And don't forget to ask for her world-famous Tres Leches cakes. Everything was homemade and fresh. My son's croissant had a nice, crunchy exterior and was soft, layered, and buttery on the inside. My blueberry scone looked like it had real, fresh lemon zest in it, and the texture was wonderful. My daughter had the chocolate donut, and she loved it, and my husband said the monkey bread was as good as his grandmother's sticky buns. (Super high praise) The prices reflect that each item is homemade, but we believe it was worth the splurge. read more

I recently got a carrot cake here and it was the best carrot cake I have had in a long time- it was excellent! 5 Stars for this place. We took home a loaf of bread, I think it was black pepper & parmesan, and a chocolate croissant. The croissant was like none I've had and I would imagine it's closer to what is found in France - absolutely incredible! Crispy outer later, so buttery and moist inside. How?! The bread just makes me want to go back time after time until I've tried them all. Great flavor, texture, smell. The place looks really clean too. I also snuck a sample of a french-toasted croissant which was delicious. They were also offering samples of a maple flavored apple cinnamon bun (I think), that I regret not sampling. read more

This place is great. They had several sweet and savory pastries. I got the everything croissant and it was delicious. Had nice crispy edges, was filled with ricotta cheese, and topped with the perfect amount of salt. The only reason not to give them 5 stars is because they do not have a bread slicer. I really wanted to buy a loaf for sandwiches, but decided not to because of this. I will definitely be back next time I am in town. read more

What a gem to find in Truckee! On a whim, we stopped in and picked up a loaf of Sesame bread and a couple of pastries (a Morning Bun and an Everything Danish). The bread is absolutely delicious and wonderful to have another option here in Truckee. The Morning Bun was also excellent, tender/sweet on the inside and lightly crispy on the outside. My husband thought the Everything Danish was a bit too savory, but still enjoyed it and we both just LOVE the bread. Of course, we wish they had seating, yet with bake goods that wonderful, we will be back. read more

No question, Bakery is the best bakery in Truckee and, coming from the SF Bay Area, I would say one of the best if not the best bakery in the Bay Area as well IMHO. We ordered the almond croissant, the ham and cheese croissant, the cherry and white chocolate scone and chocolate coffee muffin. Each piece taste like a work of art. The almond croissant had a nice almond flavor to it, not too sweet, the insides was soft, but had some structure and there was a nice crisp to the outside. The chocolate coffee muffin smelled like chocolate and coffee, we loved the hint of coffee in our first bite, the rich warm chocolate-y center - almost bread pudding like - and the muffin top broke apart and retained the flakiness of a muffin top that's fresh out of the oven. And the scone, oh the scone, had a nice chocolatey-ness in its center too - with just enough density in its middle. She (the baker) managed to keep a nice light crunch to the scone. The gruyere and ham croissant looks amazing too. More fun this afternoon. Already I can't time 'til our next visit! read more
