Sitting on the patio with a view of the lake automatically puts a place a notch above, in my opinion. We had a group of 10 of us, and considering Whitecaps is one of the busiest spots on the North Shore, we decided to try our luck. They don't really have a set system for ordering ahead or takeout--it seems to depend pretty heavily on how busy they are. Luckily, they were able to get our whole group right in! Our server was quick, efficient and friendly, especially considering how busy they were. Drinks and food came out without us feeling like we were waiting forever. For a drink, I had the prickly pear cider, which was crisp, sweet and delicious. My wife and I started with the Caesar salad, which was fresh and really good. It was definitely heavy on the garlic, but I happen to LOVE garlic, so that worked for me. We also ordered the garlic cheese bread for the table. I had high hopes because it comes on focaccia, and I thought that would give it a little something different and maybe take it over the top. Unfortunately, this one just didn't do it for me. It was a little dry and lacked the flavor I was hoping for. For our entrée, my wife and I shared the pesto chicken sandwich. It was good and definitely did the trick, but I wouldn't say it was the best pesto chicken sandwich I've ever had. Now...the pizza. Several people in our group ordered different pizzas, and every bite I stole was SO good. Ambience is good - there was around 1 hr of wait time for indoor tables and FCFS for rest of the area. I liked the outdoor seating - lake facing. We tried chicken meatballs, mushroom pizza and bread pudding without whipped cream. Bread pudding just stole the show - a perfect blend of caramel, sea salt and obviously the banana bread pudding. Pizza base was really good, well cooked with the right crunch. I found the flavour okayish- but felt something was missing. Located in Kings Beach just a short drive from Incline Village, it offers beautiful lake views, a relaxed atmosphere, and some seriously tasty pizza. The pizza is absolutely the reason I keep coming back. My longtime favorite is the Soppressata pizza with hot honey drizzle. The combination of spicy, savory, and sweet is outstanding, and it might be one of the few pizzas that's just as good the next day as leftovers. On my most recent visit, we tried the Vodka Pie on the Detroit-style crust. While I enjoyed the flavors, I discovered that the Detroit-style crust probably isn't for me. Going forward, I'll stick with their more traditional crust options, which I've consistently enjoyed over the years. The beet salad is another standout. It's beautifully presented, and the fresh dill on top adds a unique touch that works surprisingly well. My only suggestion would be to increase the portion of beets a bit, as the amount felt somewhat limited compared to the rest of the dish. The beer selection is extensive, with plenty of options for almost any taste. Wine drinkers will find a handful of choices available by the glass or half bottle, which is appreciated, although none of the wines I've tried have been particularly memorable. The biggest challenge for Whitecaps continues to be the service. While I've had a few positive experiences, I've also had multiple visits where service felt inattentive and unfriendly. It often seems difficult to get someone's attention when you need something, and there have been occasions where details were overlooked, including being served wine in a visibly dirty glass. While it was replaced when brought to their attention, the lack of acknowledgment or apology left something to be desired. That said, I continue to return because the pizza is genuinely that good. Between the lake views, the casual atmosphere, the excellent beer selection, and tasty pizza. Whitecaps remains a great place to gather with friends, share an appetizer and a pizza, and enjoy a cold drink. We live in Tahoe and the vegan options are slim up here. We started with the spinach salad without feta- delicious. Next was the craft mushroom pizza, no white sauce, no Mozz, no Gruyère, add red sauce and vegan cheese. It was amazing. So different than the usual vegan pizza. Shocked at the rudeness of the hostesses. Spent over $100 on a take out order (5 pizzas) and during the 40 minute wait we asked if we could sit down at a table and order a couple of drinks. Tables were open all over. They told us no and if we wanted drinks could order at the bar. Tables were reserved for those dining in only. Considering we had a toddler with us we didn't feel comfortable at the bar. Between the two of us we had to ask 5x to get on a waitlist for a table. Extremely Disappointing Experience and We Won't Be Back We stopped in after playing a round of golf in Tahoe, dressed appropriately in our golf clothes, expecting to relax, have a drink and enjoy ourselves. Unfortunately, from the moment we walked in, we were treated with an attitude that was completely unnecessary and extremely disrespectful. We asked if we could sit outside. The waitress told us there were tables upstairs and downstairs, so we went upstairs to look. After coming back down, we explained that there really wasn't a suitable place for us upstairs and asked if there was any possibility of getting a table outside. As we were coming downstairs, we happened to run into one of the waiters and politely asked if he could help us find a table outside. His response was incredibly abrupt and rude: "Ask your waitress." The tone was dismissive and condescending, as though we were inconveniencing him simply by asking a question. We never treated anyone disrespectfully and were nothing but polite. Maybe they've had a long season or were having a bad day, but that is no excuse for taking it out on customers. The entire vibe from the moment we walked in was unwelcoming, and unfortunately, the way we were treated completely changed our impression of the establishment. We chose not to spend our money there and will not be returning. Customer service matters. A simple, respectful response would have made all the difference. read more

Food was good! Everything tasted fresh. No complaints about the food itself. Knocking off one star for the service though. We were in Tahoe for a family trip so we had a large group. Apparently they don't host large groups so they said we would have to be split up into 2 tables. Ok, that's totally fine! Doesn't seem like difficult requests, but the hosts were giving us annoyed looks, and kept repeating that they would have to speak to the servers first about it. Dog unfriendly, poor customer service and average food. We drove an hour to eat there with our dog and were told by a middle aged man that we had to sit outside, fine. It was the hottest time of the day and the whole patio had no cover at all so we asked if they could provide covering. I ordered the 12 inch vegan which had a shaved brussel sprouts, peppers, arugula, mushrooms, artichoke and onions. The crust was perfectly crisp and I ended up with enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Service was friendly and attentive and the ambiance is causal and chill. Really enjoyed a late lunch early dinner here. It was getting crowded later in the day (we were done eating by 4 and walked by later, to see a line forming outside.) The pizza here is amazing! Probably some of the best pizza you can get. My sister ordered their vegan pizza and it was so yummy with a touch of flair for presentation. My brother and I had the meat lovers pizza. I did expect more meat but the pepperoni and sausage bites were delicious! The service was okay. Not consistent as the hostess was great and friendly but the servers seemed upset to be working. A smile can go a long way.
