Stopped by to just get a few donuts in the early afternoon on a Sunday. I'm a apple fritter nut, and always judge a donut shop based upon the fritter. So, I ordered one of those. I also like when a shop comes up with something out of the box...so, I ordered one of the cherry burritos. The Apple Fritter was perfect, nice crunch around the outside, great flavor and cake in the middle. The burrito was very tasty as well, pastry dough stuffed/folded like a burrito then fried and glazed. I have not tried the other donut shop in Carson, but, it will be hard to beat Carson Donuts. read more

Shop is always tidy and the donut are delicious! I typically get an apple fritter which is never doughy in the middle (unlike some shops that can't seem to get the right ratio of fritter size and cook time being just right). I also grab an old fashioned or buttermilk bar while my husband gets some sort of raised glazed donut or chocolate bar and a raspberry filled donut. They are always good too. I worked in a donut shop that's pretty well known in Southern California for their fresh strawberry and fresh peach donuts and has been in business a really long time. I feel like I'm a pretty good judge of the grease-to-fried dough ratio and overall flavor from my early working experience. This place seems pretty darn consistent and I've yet to have anything that wasn't fresh! I do think it's funny when people complain that they went in the afternoon and selection was limited. Do you even know how donut shops work to get all of those sweet treats made? It's overnight "baking" and lots of different things go into getting them filled or iced. Oh yeah, and if they're mostly sold out, that's usually a really good sign...just sayin'. :-) read more

I wanted to grab something fun for breakfast & found this gem in the area I was in. Carson Donuts is hidden, but not dead. On an early Thursday morning (5-6am), there were constant customers. I can tell why! The doughnuts were delicious and the owner/worker was so kind. She greeted us, patiently waited while we browsed the variety of doughnuts since it was our first time, & boxed up our doughnuts nicely. The place is very small, but homey. On the walls are pictures of their kids and doughnuts, like a cute photoshop. read more

There's only two actual donut shops here in Carson City and this is the best one. Maybe not the more popular or famous due to the odd location but better nonetheless. The other shop has terrible parking and the small dining area is always crowded in the mornings. Carson Donuts, located back in off the main drag in back near the car wash, next to the glass shop, is a little hard to find, maybe easier with modern GPS, I dunno. Parking is easy and the service inside is great and you can even find a place to sit and enjoy a little morning coffee with your donut or bear claw. I love deals in life, and Carson Donuts has a deal, for a little over just $2.00 bucks, you can get a DOZEN donut holes! Prices on the regular donuts aren't bad either, about a buck apiece, but $2 bucks for 12? Heck yeah! If you want donuts and are in Carson City, this place is worth finding, cause once you do, then you'll know where it is for the next time! read more

Since my minor heart attack back in 2014, I've pretty much sworn off donuts. Gayle's take on my continued love of scones is that I've simply traded one calorie bomb (donut shops) for another (bakeries). I was here today because I was getting my car serviced at the nearby Subaru dealer, and this was the nearest place for coffee. It's under a 5 minute walk and is sandwiched in-between a mattress store and a fast glass shop and close to some Tribal properties. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the coffee and the sight of all those donuts....from a "safe" distance. I'm sure there will be an event or thank you opportunity that will come up that will require a well received baker's dozen order. read more

Stopped here frequently early Saturday mornings. Donuts are fresh and delicious, lots of varieties. These donuts are as good as any we've ever had. My got to is glazed with coconut flakes. Came here while I was getting my car washed. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant. It was not cooked thoroughly. It looks very undercooked and tastes undercooked. The cheese was gross. It's melting into the raw croissant. The donuts are ok. The inside is old but clean for the most part. The tables were dirty and the two employees were sitting behind the counter talking. It takes five minutes to wipe down tables. Five minutes later...starting to feel very sick. read more

Fantastic donut shop! My family and I stopped in for a sweet treat around noon, and it did not disappoint. Usually donut shops are cleaned out by mid day so we anticipated this but that was not the case. There was a wide selection of donuts, hot chocolate, bottled drinks, and coffee. The lady that helped us was extremely kind and present. Only a few tables, but they were all clean and well kept. The donuts tasted great and the hot chocolate was fantastic! Unfortunately, dropping a star because of the random location and limited parking spaces. We will definitely be back! read more

I wasn't feeling well a couple of weeks ago and my husband, knowing my favorite guilty pleasure food, decided I needed a donut. Or two. This spot was close to where we are, so he decided to head here. It was early/mid-morning and he wasn't gone for long, meaning he got in and out fairly quickly! The location is a little odd, being in between two auto type buildings, but the sign makes it obvious where it is. He got a cinnamon roll, an apple fritter, and two maple bars. They were all fresh, the icing was perfect, and the sizes were large for the price. They were fried to perfection too! Just visited Carson Donuts for the first time and have been plensently surprised. I ordered the smaller of the apple fritter and three plain donuts. The fritter was awesome! Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and not too sweet. We were wishing we had ordered the large one as we devourded it. We had the plain donuts later, dipped in a Mexican chocolate dip is made for another occasion. What a perfect match. Needless to say, we will be back to try their other selections. read more

3.5 "Donuts!" I yelled, excitedly. Yes, I was alone in the car. All this talk about the Dunkin Donuts opening up in Sparks, I had donuts in the brain. It was a bit of a hunt to find the actual place, which was squeezed in-between two industrial-looking businesses and the car wash, but I saw the sign off the main drag and pulled in. Granted, it was in the middle of the afternoon, so I didn't expect the donuts to be hot off the press. For 2 donuts, it was $2.10. Acceptable. Chocolate icing pretty generous.
