Donuts to go used to be the only real donut shop in Carson City when I moved here decades ago. But now we have two shops. This shop I rate higher, but the parking is so bad here, it really makes me not want to come here. Super tight little parking lot for maybe 5 -6 cars and if you drive a crew cab, forget it! you'll never get turned around, and have to back out onto busy Carson Street blind! I just park around the corner now if I had to come here. The donuts are as good as any other actual donut shop. They have all my faves and all the standard choices. Prices are reasonable and service is fast. They open at like 4:30am, though never been THAT early. But there is a regular crowd of old timers that come in and take over the tables drinking coffee and talking about how the old days were better than now, the usual. I'll only come here if I don't have a choice or am at the north end of town and heading out north to Reno, cause my shop of choice is in south Carson. read more

I was excited to try this as the reviews are great. For my birthday we tried a true sampling. Apple fritters, almond claw, maple bar, glazed, chocolate old fashioned, lemon filled and a cake with sprinkles. Everything was good but I found it all to be too sweet. So sweet that it took away from the flavor. Maybe it's the glaze? Almond claw was my fav, maybe bc it's the one with the least glaze and a nice pastry. I think their dough is super good. Maybe next times I'll try plain non glazed cake donut? read more

These are the best donuts in the area from gardnerville to Reno! Light fluffy balls of fried dough came out this morning at 7am and we picked our 2 dozen. The service was fast and the donuts fresh in 2 pink boxes came out fresh and still warm from the frier. They had all different types including a hotdog wrapped in donut, like a donut pig in a blanket. Great prices and located right in downtown Carson, and it's and easy hole in the wall to find. The bear claw and the maple raised donuts are my personal favorite with super sweet but delicious flavors that are not artificial tasting, while the boyfriend loves the raised glazed, and the huge cinnamon glazed twists. My husband was craving an old fashioned donut, so we decided to stop in here because of the reviews. I also took the opportunity to purchase two dozen for my mother's nursing home. The shop is easily accessible and there was " enough" parking at 11:15. The cases weren't full which tells me they probably had a very good run earlier in the day. The young lady behind the counter was friendly and quickly put out order together. My husband gave his old fashion glazed and chocolate donuts a"b" rating; however, the nurses and my mother raved at how delicious they were. I have one negative, and to me, this is very important. The floors and bathroom were dirty. I initially thought the restroom was clean but on closer inspection it wasn't at all, and the floor in front of the display cases was very dirty. Unfortunately, this was enough for me to look elsewhere for my husband's old fashioned donuts in the future. read more

Hi every one for the first time in awhile I have a 1 star.... Doughnuts to go is not the place to go. I went in yesterday because the place I go to was closed. 1 dozen doughnuts wasted.... 1 Apple fritter a joke. The doughnuts were stale and hard and tasted like they were a day old. The Apple fritter was nothing but air filled with large bubbles hallow on the inside. I called this morning to complain the woman I spoke to was rude refused to listen. I was asking for my money back but I was asking for better quality because no one ate those doughnuts. They spit them out. Threw them away and put back in the box. The woman did not care said she would refund or replace them. That's ok and if people still want to eat there hey that's your preference and that's ok. I will not... $20 plus a $10 tip? Heard from friends the apple fritters are a cut above, and they were right. Huge, full of fruit, good balance of flavors. Warmed it up a little before enjoying, because it was plate-sized and weighed at least a pound. The only thing that tarnished my experience was discovery of a long, dark, human hair when I was about halfway through it. Maybe if I hadn't warmed it up it wouldn't have come loose, and I could have gone on in blissful ignorance. It certainly didn't come from my bald head and short, white goatee. A quick search indicates at least one other Yelper had the same experience, with the same product from this shop. Maybe time to invest in some hair nets? I'm still giving three stars because--despite the unexpected inclusion of human keratin--it was still a damn, delicious pastry. Maybe just comb over it a bit before eating. read more

Of the donut stores in CC this is the best! They always have a good variety of donuts available. Their speciality is the fritter bites which are excellent! They are basically a mini fritter, and the perfect size when you need to take something to the office. Also every time I have visited they have consistent customers traffic coming in which is always a good sign. The benefit is they are always cooking donuts, and so I have always gotten a very fresh donut! The only downside is they have very limited parking in front of the store, maybe 5 spots total. Due to this I typically turn at the next street corner which is Adams St, as there is lots of street parking available here. read more

These donuts are very good and the staff were friendly and helpful. We tried a Cinnamon Roll, Maple Bar and a Pastry claw with almond paste & almond slivers. All were delicious but the almond was our favorite. This place has a very small footprint so there's only a few tables for eating in and the parking is very limited though it's not their fault.
