    Ginormous donuts
    Myrna S.

I've been to this area multiple times but this is the first time I've stepped foot inside Doughboys Donuts. We walked into the shop a little late in the day, there wasn't anyone inside except for the employees and it seemed the shop was getting ready to close for the night, but after we walked through the door, an influx of other customers walked in and all of sudden the empty shop had a queue. The staff took the sudden wave of customers in stride and were super-accommodating to everyone who walked in. For my first visit, the staff left me with a very good first impression; the donuts still look very tempting, especially the apple-fritters. We ordered a half dozen donuts: 4 sugar and 2 chocolate glazed. Overall, we had a brief but pleasant interaction at Doughboys Donuts.

9/14/25 FYI. My weekly half donut treat:)

Quality/Quantity - Wow, just realized it is time for an update. As you can tell from my pictures, we are loyal customers. We get our consistent weekly order, cut the donuts in half (so the kids do not get over sugared up. Yes, they can grab two halves, lol...). And this is when I get my weekly half donut treat, thank you. Trying to stay healthy. Known for your "Big Boy" donuts; too bad they are just way too big for me, LOL. Ambiance - Decent size location. Plenty of mall parking. Open 7 days a week. See my picture for hours. Service - Good, consistent. Delivery available. Price - Good. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 1980 and your 3 locations here since 2009. Next time we are in Camarillo, CA, we will visit your Rolling Pin Donut location as well. Also, it is nice to hear about your family's history: your partners founded the business in 1980 in Hollywood, CA as a LA police officer. Just noticed on your website, each location is independently owned and operated? Are you a franchise now?

These folks are service oriented. Upon entering, I had a couple folks in line ahead of me. Two staffers stepped up to the counter to take orders from all three of us simultaneously. I didn't see a chocolate cruller in the display case and asked...two left! The place is clean and decorated for Christmas to include window paintings. The crullers are thoroughly cooked, have that eggy flavored dough, and the icing was not completely dry- still somewhat liquid under the top glaze. Had a decent chocolate flavor. I would come back. Price was reasonable at ~$3.70 for the two.

    Overcharged for interrupting employee break-time.

Rude service every single visit. From employees treating new arrivals at the drive-thru before any counter service, to employees chatting with each other instead of serving customers, to flat out wrong orders, this place is staffed by some of the rudest people I've ever encountered. Nobody wants to cashier here. I tip 30% routinely on my bi-weekly visits and these folks are still pissed off every time I go in there. The doughnuts are standard fare - nothing exceptional over the worst donut you've ever had, nor do they stand out from the best donut you've ever had. The parking lot is rather unfortunately situated so the drive through spills-out into a turn late right in front of a stop sign, so traffic jams are to be expected in the morning, and the few high tables in the shop are definitely indicative they don't want loiterers. Of my few experiences shopping here - Absolutely ignored by staff to continue their own conversation (today's visit) - only person in line, waiting, and two of them are looking at me but continuing to talk to each other rather than engage with me. Charged me for 4 donuts (when I only purchased 3) as a penalty for interrupting their mid-morning break, I guess? Had someone walk away from the counter on me to help prepare a meal in the back, leaving FOH for drive-through work with an extensive line and customers buying multiple dozens of donuts. Employee threw the bag of donuts on the counter and walked away from the register without another word after ringing the donuts in. Should have just walked out with the bag full of broken donut bits! Why beg for tips if you're gunna be shitheads to your customers anyway? Disgruntled Donut Dispensary.

Always a pleasure! We love us some donuts once in a while! The staff is always so welcoming. I recall once we ended up picking up a dozen, and came home to find out the donuts were all wrong. Called and spoke to a woman, she made up a new box and had it ready with no charge as soon as we arrived. Sooo kind! So delish!

The BEST breakfast sandwich in South Reno! The staff are always friendly and seem to know most of the customers as regulars. This is an "everything" breakfast sandwich on a croissant. Egg, sausage, bacon, ham, cheddar & Swiss cheese (add jalapeños) Always Delicious!

Thank you Doughboys for another great birthday surprise for my donut-loving son! You know how to kick start my mornings and boost our family's special occasions!

This has been my go to local donut shop for years that they even were a part of our dessert wall for my wedding! It's great for early mornings like before or after the great reno balloon races or to bring to dinner parties. Their donuts have always been a favorite of mine. They have many different kinds, but mine is a raised maple bar. The dough is so light and airy. They also have pastries too! I love the jalapeno cheddar croissant warmed! I like this location as it has drive through which is convenient. Most of the time it is available but sometimes there is a cone blocking the way meaning that the drive through is closed, which I've only encounter that twice. I've never had an issue ordering, service is quick and the everyone are always happy to help!

I used the drive up because I was in a hurry this morning and I started to select certain donuts and then she asked me if she wanted me to pre-select or if she wanted her to select them so I got a few that I wanted and then she selected the rest. She selected a glazed donut, a jelly donut, and a cinnamon roll and a bar. Probably not the things I would've definitely picked I would not have picked those. They're a little on the pricey side for a glazed donut. Not the best place for donuts in town, but they are decent.

5/5 for doughnuts as per usual 3/5 for service so I'll go with 4/5 total... Came in Sunday morning for a quick treat and was definitely not disappointed with my food! Unfortunately they were out of my favorite item - almond croissants but I was still happy with my other choices, jalapeno cheddar croissant, strawberry turn over, two maple bars and two doughnuts. So yum! The staff all was absolutely miserable. Not sure why any of the employees work here as it was painfully obvious how much no one wanted to be there. The employee who helped me was rude. The employees helping the other customers were rude. Everyone seemed tired and disgruntled. I came at 9:30 am so it wasn't that early..... definitely the most unfriendly dough boys I've been to

Giant donuts for when you can only eat one (GIANT) donut!!

Needed to visit this local legend of a donut shop after reading recommendations (some said best donuts in South Lake Tahoe! ). First, service was excellent - with lots of employees ready to fill the box and get me on my way. Second, selection - tons of choices from timeless standards to fun/innovative options. Finally, I LOVED the "serving-sized" Apple Fritter, PERFECT with a cup of coffee. So run don't walk to this donut shop. You'll be glad you did!!!

We were in the area today, and my daughter requested that we stop for doughnuts. I've been super disappointed with service at Maeanne and Sparks locations lately. I will walk in and see 3 or four kids playing in NW. No greeting or offer of service. The next patron will walk in, and they will be greeted and asked if they need help, but I waited at least 5 minutes. The last time I walked into the NW store, I walked right back out. One of the girls working was twirling her bangs with food gloves on. Seriously, so gross! I'm glad today that wasn't an issue, but talk to your employees. That's not okay. We love the array of fresh doughnuts and had to pick up a cup of coffee. They have more flavor options than our local Starbucks. Every store has the same look, but I just wish service was better in Sparks and NW Reno. Their shops are fairly clean and do expect it to be fairly busy on the weekends. Your chocolate chip roll will always have a special place in my heart. We'll be back, but we will have to go elsewhere if the service at the other stores doesn't improve.

I can't say I've ever met one I didn't like. Heck, even the 1/2-priced day-olds have a place in my heart. Have you ever put a donut in the microwave for 20 seconds? Today, a volunteer was needed to pick up a dozen donuts for a meeting. I said, "You buy, I fly," and off I went. It's 8:45am, not too busy, and customer service is spot on. The display cases are full of beautiful sprinkles and glaze and peanuts and bacon... yup, I was eye-balling that Maple & Bacon! I requested a mixed dozen. Then I saw it... the sign read "Sausage, Jalapeno and Cheese kolache." Ooooh goodness gracious, it was the biggest kolache I'd ever seen. And Id never seen one in Reno or Sparks. They do grow things bigger in TX. I know cuz I lived in Deep East TX. But this is Sparks, NV, and I want to try this. I've eaten a kolache or 2 or 500 in my day. He even offered to warm it up before I asked. I wanted this to be good, no I wanted it yo great. To be the "Whete have you been since I moved back to NV?" it wasn't. I was disappointed. The amount of filling to bread ratio was way off, in my opinion. I expected a sausage, not 6-8 sausage "coins" wrapped in a 7" x 5" dough package. It was soft, and the color was so inviting. It looked like it was gonna be amazing. If you've never tried one, do try Donut Bistro's kolache... It's a soft, warm, savory option. We ordered the Dust Storm: a vanilla milkshake with chocolate bits, topped with a giant blondie skewered dramatically on top, plus whipped cream, sprinkles, and chocolate drizzle. Honestly, the presentation was on point and exactly the kind of milkshake kids dream about. Which is why we ordered it. My tween declared it "the best milkshake I've ever seen in my life," and honestly, that alone made it worth the stop on our mother-daughter trip. Taste-wise, it leaned very sweet for me and didn't have a ton of flavor depth beyond sugar overload. But clearly the goal here is maximal fun and aesthetic, and they absolutely nailed that. It's basically a photo op you can drink. The shop itself was surprisingly quiet when we visited in the evening--we had the whole place to ourselves--but there were games to play while waiting for our order (we pulled out Pick Up Sticks, which transported me straight back to my 90s childhood living room). The ladies at the counter were also incredibly kind and patient explaining the menu and flavors to us.
