I love this place. I especially love their ham-and-cheese croissants. However, every single time I get them they are always raw or uncooked in the center of them. I don't know why. Dough boy donuts really seemed to up the game on donuts. They have the classics but the execution and quality is top notch. The donuts were fresh and fluffy. Dough boy gives consistently great donuts. Large. Filling. Flavorful and affordable. Going in with the kids was a quick thing. Even though it was busy with the after church crowd we were served quickly and they had at least 4-5 people behind the counter. Always nice helpful young upbeat people. I had never noticed they have chocolate and almond croissants. I'll def be back to try those. We had a tigers tail, chocolate bar, and pumpkin cake donut with crumb topping. All were top notch, as to be expected. The only thing that's missing from this place is a good cream filled donut. I don't like usually cream filled. I have tried theirs and it just doesn't do anything for me. I've been trying to track down a similar cream filling from a place that I went to as a kid growing up for years. It has left any other cream filled donut disappointing and not worth my time or calories. It's my life mission to find that recipe and get it to owner Jay Kenny so I can have that specific cream filled experience here in Reno the rest of my life. Mark my word. It will happen. read more

Doughboys was crowded this morning. everyone wanted donuts and coffee. In any event our order was quickly taken and filled. We got a half dozen donuts and a hot chocolate for my granddaughter. That hot chocolate, which I never tried before, was absolutely delicious. Creamy, chocolatey, hot, a perfect compliment to her donut. I tried the coconut donut which is big and fluffy and melted in your mouth. We also got a couple of the sprinkle donuts, a maple bar, and a bear claw. The donuts in this shop are absolutely beautiful. They're big and fluffy. We did not try the cake donut today but I have before and they're equally delicious. There's just enough icing, not too much, not too little and not too sweet. The toppings are ample. They're not stingy at all. The place filled up and everyone was happily munching on donuts as I left. Fefinitely recommend this shop. read more

Came by to grab a fresh collection of donuts for my Bible Study group. These were delicious and given that it was the end of the day they had an amazing selection still available. Consistently the best donuts in Reno. My favorites are the old fashioned glazed and crumb cake. They're always so soft and pair perfectly with a glass of cold milk. The croissant sandwiches are also really good. Staff always friendly and quick - especially during the morning rush. read more

Visiting from the Bay saw the sign, definitely had to check them out. Glad that we stopped in. They had such a great variety of donuts, big cinnamon rolls, and every doughnut that you can think of they even had some danish as well. Couldn't even leave the parking lot without eating one of the donuts that I purchased. We happened to be close and decided to grab a dozen donuts for a Christmas event at the Elks Lodge. I had no time to bake and everyone loves donuts. This must be a popular spot since we had to wait a bit, but everyone was so kind, we did not mind. We got a mix of several types and my favorite which is apple fritters. Price was good and the donuts were a hit and gone in no time. The Elks was putting on an event for families and since we are Elks members we were told to bring desert. Eight tables were full with cookies and cupcakes and we brought the only donuts so they were gone in a flash. I got to have one and it was good and fresh. I never write reviews on anything but I felt like I needed to today. I've been to this location several times in the past year and felt a shift when I walk in. I don't mean to pull the race card but after today I felt a little disappointed. The man was perfectly fine when the previous customers came in who was notably a lighter complexion to me and was very polite to them. However, when it's my turn he raises his voice, yells "WHAT?!" is impatient, and drops the change in my hand and goes on his day, "no thank you come again" no "have a great day". My first taste of Doughboys was a few years ago. On my way to church or just the gas station, I would grab coffee and a donut. The smell of the bakery was great to wake up too! In August 2023, I got Covid for the first time. Though it was a mild 2 week case, I lost my taste and smell for a month. That devastated me because I didn't know when it would return and that would affect my reviews. BUT, one day in September 2023, I took a chance. I wanted to eat a donut, whether I could taste it or not. I walked into Doughboys and I could smell the bakery!!!!! You know what that meant?!?!? I COULD TASTE THE DONUT!!!! :) The staff behind the counter were patient with me as I decided on my custom dozen :) I recently ordered a dozen again because, well, I love donuts and I love Doughboys! Had to go to work early, I enjoy my new coworkers and I decided to bring it in the morning treat. I really do believe that doughboy donuts have some of the best donuts... Ever! It's a little bit tough though, I thought they were expensive before, but now $17 for a dozen donuts... That was tough. Probably should chalk it up to post Covid inflation, increase in wages, prices of ingredients. But, as long as they don't skimp and according to the taste, they didn't skimp. Service is always great at this location. My kids were craving Doughboys and asked me to stop and pick up a half a dozen on my way home. Doughboy donuts, you're still the one that I love. The donuts here are fresh and the perfect consistency of dough and air and sugar and deliciousness. I haven't had another donut in Reno that even comes close to the freshness and consistency of the ones I get here. I do wish they'd explore some new flavors and experiment with some new concepts, particularly with their yeast donuts. I love the basics but sometimes I feel like doughboy is slightly behind the curve with some new offerings. Not a whole lot, but maybe a few new options like cinnamon sugar, something with Nutella, definitely something with biscoff cookie butter, a coffee cake crumble donut, blueberry crumble donut... and some seasonal options like pumpkin or ginger spice? If they could combine their perfect donut with some new flavors then I think all would be right in the world. read more

We tried to hit this place up the night before but the hours weren't updated on Yelp so they were already closed by 8 pm. We woke up with donuts still on our minds so we went back in the morning and I was a little disappointed. They had a really large cinnamon glazed twist but it was underwhelming. Not soft and fluffy like it looks it would be. It was kinda hard and cold. My boyfriend liked the maple bars but he even said it himself - you could put maple glaze on a shoe and he'd think it was the best thing ever. As a local, and having been here multiple times even since I was a kid, the donuts here absolutely rock! They do not and cannot compare to anything else in town because they truly are the best. Fresh, never stale, and they lack the oily film that many other places in town have on their donuts. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodate their customers very well. So doughy and pillowy I got the peanut putter one and my friend got a croissant and a few donuts. Everything was fresh and tasted good. There was a big variety, even later in the day. The peanut butter was fluffy, nutty but not overfilled. Can't wait to go back to try the apple fritters. My two issues: I'm a HUGE donut snob and I've definitely had better. Few foods I'm more critical on though! Secondly, the service was not great. They didn't seem to want to really answer our questions and didn't respond to us asking multiple times to have us pay separately.
