Desert Sun Bagel is our go-to local bagel shop. We love stopping by and picking up breakfast at this location. We used to frequent their other spot but this is more convenient with lots of parking. Pro tip: use their Toast app. So convenient! We order via the app, it remembers our previous order, and off we go. My favorite is the Mirage. Delicious and consistently made to order every. Single. Time. Love it. Tried the lox with plain bagel. The cream cheese to lox ratio was definitely off. We wrongfully assumed it came with onions and capers. Luckily, I had plenty of both at home. I was impressed with Desert Sun Bagel. It's kind of a hole-in-the-wall place next to Goodwill with a bit of an underwhelming/hollowed-out-feeling interior, but the people working behind the counter are very friendly and attentive, the sandwich options are creative and plentiful without being overwhelming, and the quality of the bagels and ingredients is solid and satisfying if not mind-blowing. I got the Frontier, with swiss, tomato, and avocado (and I added bacon), and it was well prepared, well balanced, and rich without feeling overly heavy. I also thought the pricing was decent (not the highest not the lowest) considering the quantity and quality of food. The bagel variety was a bit sparse (we might have arrived after a rush), but they have the basics well covered, plus a few extras, like garlic parmesan and tomato pesto cheddar (which were sold out when we were there, so maybe they're good). The pastries looked a little sad and mixed together. I also REALLY liked the basic coffee (Laughing Cat) they had here. This place is a local gem. Freshly baked bagels daily and great coffee, what more can you ask for in a breakfast? They offer a variety of sandwiches and even smoothies. There were local paintings on the walls and even crystals from the area. Fayth made me the best bagel and she was so sweet even while being extremely busy. It was noon on a Saturday and even though the store hours said 2pm closing time, all the chairs were set onto the tables and the floor had been mopped. The entire place smelled like chemicals and it did not feel welcoming. The girl who took our order either has a hard time comprehending what people are saying or she couldn't hear us over the music which was loud. My husband ordered, "a number one with ham on an everything bagel." She responded with "what kind of bagel?" He says, "an everything bagel." So she follows up with, "you wanted sausage?" We thought she was pranking us at first, and then quickly realized she was serious. The food was okay. I have been a customer of Desert Bagel wayyy back when it was under a different name. I love that they were able to expand and open a section location, congrats! I order the usual, the desert sunrise, but opt'd to add cream cheese in it and that was a game changer. Their bagels are soft and tender, and they have packets of a "hot" salsa amongst the jams, jellies and other condiments to grab, which is nice. In comparison to other bagel places in town, the prices are fair and the bagels are good. A lovely new addition across from Trader Joes on McCarran and South Virginia (next to Goodwill), Desert Sun Bagel has a clean, desert vibe with pictures of our lovely Nevada high desert landscapes and crystals and rock formations tucked into nooks and shelves. We tried the mango smoothie -- citrus flavored mango which was not too sweet and not too sour. We also tried an iced vanilla latte which featured a good coffee blend and a subtle vanilla flavor. The star of the show was the Oasis on an onion bagel. A concoction of scrambled egg, bacon (added) and veggies on a crisply toasted onion bagel. We also ordered a toasted salt bagel with cream cheese the salt amount was perfectly balanced with a deliciously crunchy bagel that nicely held up the smooth whipped cream cheese. 100% yes! Super friendly and fast staff. They all work really well together and communicate effectively. Very clean, nicely decorated, and organized. They have great seating inside, and outside when the weather is nice. There is a self serve coffee station with flavored syrups, and milk/ non dairy options in the mini fridge. I love the selection from the menu and the bagel case as well. I think there's a lot of great things to choose from. I loved the Vista sandwich and can't wait to go back and try other menu items, but definitely the Oasis because I LOVE pesto! Thank you to everyone at Desert Sun Bagel for all that you do. 8/13/25- Wanted to stop in and grab some bagels for lunch and breakfast tomorrow- I do really miss eating bagels -lol-instead of my four ingredient protein bagels... A hidden gem in South Reno, tucked away in the Smithridge shopping center! If bagels are your love language, this place speaks it fluently. When I stopped by, it was buzzing with pick-up orders, but even around 11am they still had plenty of bagel choices. I went with the Frontier Bagel Sandwich on a jalapeño cheddar bagel and WOW--total game changer. Avocado, tomato, Swiss, a fresh cracked egg, plus I added crispy bacon... basically breakfast perfection. I grabbed a garlic parmesan bagel with bacon jalapeño cheddar cream cheese and an espresso latte, while my husband went for the Desert Sunrise bacon breakfast sandwich with a cold brew. Both were excellent, fresh, flavorful, and just what I was hoping for. I love that they use local Laughing Cat Coffee and have a full coffee bar with Torani syrups and lots of milk options (alternative milks included). It's clear they value local collaborations. The day I stopped in, they happened to be hosting a Reno Gem and Mineral Society rock swap. It fit perfectly with the theme, especially since their decor includes displayed rocks and photos of local landscapes. This spot feels like a big step up from their first location. I loooove Desert Sun Bagel! I've been to the location on Morill several times and I was excited when the second location opened up not far from where I live! I always order the desert sunrise with sausage. Their bagels are some of the best I've ever had. Make sure you try the tomato pesto cheddar and garlic Parmesan bagels. We came here after staying the night in Reno on our way to Tahoe. The bagels are all there fresh and they are good. They offer a good variety of breakfast bagel sandwiches and regular bagels. 5 stars for price and flavor though a few changes would make this bagel shop even better. First, the good. The bagels are very reasonably priced. When many bagel places charge $12+ per sandwich having options around $8 is great. We have to pass other bagel shops to get here and I think the extra distance is worth it. A small coffee under $3 is amazing too-- and they offer laughing cat cafe coffee! I also love that they offer oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk, half and half, and milk as well as various sugars and syrups at no extra charge. I also love the texture of their bagels; they are soft but still maintain some body and chew. If I recall correctly, a bagel alone was around $2 but adding cream cheese seemed a bit pricey ($2 and some change, I believe). Now into what would make this place even better. All the tables are raised and have barstool seating which is not particularly welcoming for those with balance issues (such as elderly, pregnant women, and young children). For those who use a wheelchair the raised tables could be a problem as well. If the environment provided a bit more comfortable seating my family would certainly visit more often (Desert Sun Bagel is a great alternative to a busy breakfast restaurant on a Sunday morning, and a large family can really save some money going there compared to a restaurant with higher prices and a waiter to tip). I found this place on Uber Eats. It has really good food. I got the Granite Mountain on an everything bagel. The bagel was not too soggy from the tomato or the salmon and was not over-toasted to the point where it was hard like in some places I've had. It was perfect. The salmon wasn't overpowering. It was well-balanced. I had to get it again while I stayed here for my visit. I got a water not expecting a full 33-oz water bottle. And it was cold! Blink and you'll miss one of the most satisfying breakfast bites around. This spot is serving up a bagel sandwich that actually delivers. I ordered the Desert Sunrise and it came out warm with really solid flavor. I went with sausage and egg and it hits that classic hearty breakfast combo. The sausage is a little on the salty side but still good. The cream cheese was only on one side this time which felt a bit off since the other location usually does both, and it was a little heavy especially with the runny yolk from the sunny side egg so it got messy quick. The hash brown is the real standout here. Perfectly seasoned, thicker, crispy on the outside with a great texture inside. Way better than the thinner version at the other location. Service was amazing. Super friendly staff and very welcoming from the moment you walk in. The inside has bright colors and cool artwork that makes the whole place feel fun and inviting. I have been going to the original location for years and this was my first time at the new spot. It definitely feels like an upgrade overall. The bagel selection was also very minimal. We understand it was late morning on a Sunday, but it still felt like a red flag when hardly anything was available. Decided to check out this new bagel place nestled in the center close to Trader Joe's. Enjoyed a delicious warm baked bagel with cream cheese and a mocha. The plain bagel was soft, fluffy and amazing- like a cloud of soft bagel goodness. Mocha was great as well, shot pulled from the always awesome Laughing Cat Coffee.
