What a lovely find! I had never been to Genoa and it had been years since my husband visited so we…read moredecided to take a drive there when we were in the area. The town is absolutely charming but what caught my attention was Sierra Chef. We made our way to the door and I was immediately in heaven as we entered the building. The store was filled with amazing Italian food items including pastas, sauces, and cheeses. There were chef prepared dinners for you to order to take home. Italian pastries and gelato tempted us. I gave in and ordered a pistachio gelato which was divine. My husband ordered a cookie and espresso which he said was perfectly prepared. I wish we would have had more time at Sierra Chef because we would have ordered more food items to try. The next time we are in the area, we will be making a stop to pick up some tasty treats!

Sierra Chef - Made In Nevada [Genoa NV]…read more I followed the garlicky smell of the savory prosciutto flatbread and our noses led us here at this Italian bakery called Sierra Chef. The minute we walked inside the smell of baked pastries, cookies, and sweet & savory treats permeated the store. Ahhhh... Sierra Chef also offers cooking classes for adults and children in their commercial kitchen. Saw a few ladies behind the counter taking the class and having fun at the same time while I perused through the items offered... some fun handcrafted kitchen items laid out on the back table. We were just looking for dessert since we already had brunch across the street at the Flutter & Buzz Cafe. I asked for gelato and chose dark chocolate flavor. Waited while the employee went towards the back to scoop our ice creams. I had no idea how huge the servings were when she handed the cups to me. I should've just asked for one cup to share. It was delicious though. We sat and enjoyed them outside at their outdoor patio. The weather was beautiful and perfect for gelato. Mangia Bene! Review #3734

It was rainy, and so everybody was indoors, and it was kind of crowded, but that's a testament to the quality of the food. Our bartender, Maddy, was energetic and friendly, and it didn't hurt that she grew up six doors down on our street. My wife, ever the hugger, was thrilled to see her, and you could tell they had a mutual fondness for each other. So if you're into day drinking, and it's a Sunday, this is a great stop. Quality, alcohol, friendly faces, what look like good food, and a clean and pleasant environment made this the place to stop. Rest assured, we will be back

We had a confirmed reservation for eight at 1:00 pm on a Friday following a wedding ceremony. What should have been a joyful post-wedding lunch became frustrating due to the general manager's attitude. Although the reservation was made, we were told they could not ensure the table that would comfortably fit eight adults -- several over 6 feet tall. We were also informed they would not guarantee any table even a few minutes early so we could place simple floral arrangement on it before bride arrived. Our party was fully prepared to order off the regular menu and pay whatever it took for what would likely have been a one-hour lunch. During the conversation, the manager repeatedly emphasized that they are "always busy," which felt dismissive rather than helpful. The overall tone came across as VERY condescending, especially given the occasion. For a restaurant known for hospitality, this was disappointing. The lunch was booked at another restaurant. Sadly, none of us will be back to The Pink House while the current manager is employed there.

Fun & Unique Dessert Spot -- Great for Kids!…read more We often make a stop at The Baked Bear when we're in South Lake Tahoe for a sweet, memorable treat! This place has a very fun and unique concept -- you get to build your own custom ice cream sandwich by choosing your favorite cookies or brownies and pairing them with premium ice cream in the middle. You can even add toppings or have it pressed warm for an extra gooey indulgence. Personally, it's much sweeter than I normally go for -- definitely a sugar overload -- but that's exactly what makes it a perfect treat for kids. They absolutely loved it! It's big, rich, and very instagram‑worthy! For what you get, about $9.50 is pretty fair in South Lake Tahoe -- especially considering how fresh the cookies and ice cream are and how customizable the dessert is. It's the kind of place where you choose your own adventure with cookie flavors, ice cream flavors, and toppings, and the friendly staff is great at helping you decide what goes best together. We enjoy the vibe here -- it's relaxed, the staff is kind and helpful, and it makes for a fun family stop after dinner or while exploring downtown. Definitely a great spot if you're in the mood for a creative and delicious dessert experience! Especially if you are good at sharing :)

The ambiance is classic, nice, yet rustic cabin like feeling. The menu looked good and our server informed us of the specials. I decided to get the salmon and the others decided on the steak special. We ordered some calamari to share as our dinners came with soup or salad and a side. They do offer a full cocktail bar and wine/beer menu. My guest opted for an old fashioned, which he said was one of the better tasting ones he's had. The calamari came out nice and hot. Tasting crispy and good, and tasted fresh. My salmon came out light and fresh, with amazing Brussel sprouts. My guests steaks came out perfectly cooked and flavourful. The service was impeccable and our server continued to check on our dining experience. All the staff were super friendly, which made for an amazing dinner. The price pint for a steakhouse was very reasonable and good quality. Plenty of parking is available in the front of the restaurant and easy to get to. Definitely a good experience and good food!

Let's start with what I liked. First impression walking in, the restaurant is beautiful. Rustic,…read moremoody, clean, and gives off steakhouse vibes. We came kind of late, around 8:30pm and had a party of 8, and at first they said they could not seat us but then Paula (who I assume is the manager) was able to get us in at 9:00pm and she was so kind and personable! The table and chairs we sat at were nice and study and the dining area of the restaurant was just as nice as the entrance. Our server was friendly and attentive and our wait was reasonable. Now for the negatives. Unfortunately the food was not a hit for anyone in our party. My sister-in-law got the chicken pasta and gave it a 2.5/5, she aid the chicken was overcooked, the sauce was runny, and it wasn't very flavorful. I got the Brussel Sprouts and my husband and I give them a 3/5, they were soft but not crispy and the flavor was okay. The Mac & Cheese was a 2/5 on its own but much better when we added salt/pepper, it also had no flavor but the texture was perfect. My 3 kids all got a kids pizza and they all barely ate any so I'd give another 2/5, they said they remind them of the pizza they get at school. My husband's meat pizza was also a 2/5, the crust seemed like maybe it wasn't all the way cooked & he said it tasted like a frozen pizza. My nephew gives the kids grilled cheese a 3/5. And my brother said the chicken BLT was good and he gives it a 4/5 and said he would order it again. Lastly, I ordered a wedge salad but it never came, also after I brought it to my waitresses attention she forgot to take it off the bill, but she quickly fixed it at the end and again was very kind. Unfortunately we will not be going back even though we are staying at the resort next door. We just feel for the price we would like to try other places in Tahoe instead. But I think they are worth a try if you're at the resort.

We got a chocolate croissant (only decent thing I got, but don't compare it to an artisanal made croissant where it's a dark golden brown with flaky crispy buttery layers). Their "croissants" are more like anemic, soft, moist bread. Also, got a cheese Danish. Starbucks sells a better cheese Danish than this place. The Danish was dry and hard and the center filling looked like it was pre-made frozen and just placed on top of the Danish. Finally, the worst of the worst, I got a personal size dutch apple crumble pie. Now THIS looked like it was made from scratch and I had hopes for this one. However, I took a piece of the crumble topping and ate it. It had an unusual funny taste. Almost like it was made with lavender. Didn't taste quite right. Then, when I got back to my hotel, I really dug into it. It wasn't just the crumble that was off, but the entire pie tasted of rancid spoiled butter. I had to spit it out, it was horrible. I can't believe they would serve that. I don't know how old that thing was, but they need better quality control. The only people I could see giving this place 5 stars on the food, are locals. Tahoe is behind when it comes to quality high end artisanal pastries. I have yet to find a decent coffee shop. Their sign boasts "Voted Best in Tahoe", but you'll see that almost every spot here has the same sign, from ice cream shops to bakeries to whatever else because there's literally nothing here. If you're from a big city, don't come here. Service was pleasant. No complaints.
