Typical small town country store with a fantastic breakfast panini. I stopped by needing a quick breakfast and found a gem of cafe that is worth trying, so much so, that I went back the next morning. The breakfast panini I bought on both days was amply filled with egg, ham, and cheese.

If you are looking for a little tiny store with adorable gift items, ice cream, specialty cocktails and a machine that makes those flat pennies.. you've found your place! In the heart of Genoa, Nevada sits this fun little stop where adults and kids will find something to make them smile. Friendly staff, reasonably priced souvenirs, cool location. It's a must stop.

A funky, funny little place that has something for everyone. I decided to make a detour through Genoa on my way home. It was lunch time and I was feeling peaked. After parking at the Mormon Station State park, I wandered over to check out the Genoa Country Store and see what the deli had to offer. They had a nice variety of sandwiches either their combos or a make your own. I decided on the Turkey with Provolone and Pesto Panini on sourdough. It comes with a dill pickle. Sides and drinks are extra. It was pretty good and very generously sized. They have seating both inside and outside. I opted to eat out at one of the tables under the trees. My food was brought to me. The store is not only a deli, but a bar with beer, wine and cocktails, a general store with gifts, tchotchkes, snacks, t-shirts, jewelry, and other paraphernalia. They also carry locally produced ice cream. I showed restraint and passed on that, but it would be a great to stop back again for something cool and creamy. Great little spot. Worth the side trip when traveling on US-395.

Whoh! This place is amazing. How great is it? You can get your cup of coffee to any special alcoholic drinks from the bar. The cofeee was tasty and you could refill your soda drink. There is also a gift boutique which has everything you will want, including unique jewelries. I was totally surprised that I found such a special deli sandwich and a locally made ice cream. Oh boy, I was on the moon with my generous one scoop of the delicious butter pecan. I also got to taste the strawberry flavor which was also smoking yummy! I would have given this place a gold five star but I could not as there is a room for improvement. The service is very slow as there is one person who was doing everything! The staff did not look excited at work. The ambience can be everything! Will definitely stop back for the yummy sandwiches and ice scream!

The BEST Veggie Sandwich! My hippie San Diego vegetarian butt approves!!!

We loved this place so much that we were impressed with ourselves the day that we did NOT make a stop by this bar, and perhaps we even stopped by twice if eating in Genoa. You walk in (by the way, look like a regular, and PUSH the very low doorknob, not pull like I did initially) and immediately know it is dripping with history, divey-ness, and awesomeness. The crowd comes in waves, as it is a popular drop-in for people coming through town as well as many very welcoming and friendly locals. Actually, I want to say again how awesome the regulars were. Not sure how I would feel if constant tourist dropped in my homestead, but everyone we talked to who was local was awesome and inviting. The bar had an IPA for me. They have a pool table. They have a jukebox (which defaulted to glam rock when we were there, so I LOVED that). They have cool merch. They have some awesome stuff on walls and ceiling. They have some fantastic mixed drinks, including one of the better Bloody Mary's my wife has had as well as a unique, tasty hot drink (Hot Buttered Buccaneer Drink). They have a spacious outdoor area. They don't have food, but we had a burger and burger salad (wife) from the food truck there, and it was stellar. The fries were great too. Back to the bar though. And, every bartender who served us during the week gave us friendly, efficient, perfect service. Once we realized that South Tahoe was irritatingly tourist overpopulated at this time of year, we decided to attend this cool candle-lighting tradition they did on NYE there instead of figuring out logistics over the pass. The event was SOOOO cool, and they even had a fun band later that night that they somehow packed into the jukebox corner. Hope I don't forget anyone. Whether you get Syd, Gabby, Candi, Dee, Carrie, or Ginger (the only one I didn't meet personally), you will love your experience here. They were all rock stars during our visits. I can't say enough good things about this bar, it really made "our South Tahoe trip," and you should swing by if in the area. I highly recommend this place, and see you there (the next time we are in the area)...

Years ago, this building was a gift shop adjacent to the previous La Ferme. The owners of Daniel's did a fabulous job rebuilding this structure, including repurposed stones from the original ice house building. I think a separate review is warranted as it stands on its own as a place to gather after a Genoa Town event, for drinks and light bites. We were recently here after Bingo night and following this year's lighting of the Hope's Tree across the street. The Ice House also has a nice patio for casual outdoor (weather permitting) get togethers. Gayle and I were also here during Candy Dance, for sausages and beer, and far away from the maddening crowd. The Ice House also hosts fairly regular wine tastings. And all this without a restaurant reservation next door. The inside is cozy with maybe room for a dozen folks. The bar is cool, the barkeeps know the community favorite adult beverages, and its just a sweet, casual, and relatively quiet spot to hang out. If you want a fine dining meal, make sure you have reservations at Daniel's. If you want loud, fun, and sometimes crowded, the Genoa Bar is just across the street. And 8 times out of 10, we'd rather be here at the Ice House.

And we brought some Bay Area friends with us. We also came in mid-week to avoid any crowd potential. Our evening began at the bar with a round of Picon Punch, the official drink of the State of Nevada. I first thought that this was a drink that you only ordered once, but this small glass of goodness actually grew on us. After closing the bar bill and looking at all the branded merchandise, it was off to the main dining room. We chose the Basque Family Style side of the menu, which at the end of the evening resulted in number of take home containers. Our 4 choices were Basque Chicken, Fish, Lamb Shoulder, and Lamb Chops. Those came with Vegetable Soup, Salad, Beef Stew, Beans, French Fries, Bottle of Red Wine, Coffee, and Ice Cream. for the Table. These inclusive choices were priced just south of $40 and that's what the bill was at the end of the evening, as there were no extras needed. OK, the included wine was a little on the sweet side, but we didn't see the need to "upgrade" as we were too busy concentrating on the food. It was all good, especially the Soup and the French Fries. The only regret was not being here on the night they served Huckleberry Ice Cream, but our Vanilla or Pistachio Almond was good enough. JT Basque is family generation owned, and we certainly felt welcome and well taken care of. The rustic decor was also cool, as was the happy energy in the dining room. Why is this THE ONE when it comes to Basque dining? Well... It's steeped in history in a way you can feel from the moment you step onto the wooden sidewalk out front. You'll see it on the walls, hear it in the conversations, and taste it in the food. This is simply a special place. You'll feel truly at home, and that's because the same family has operated it for countless generations, passing down legendary hospitality like a family heirloom. From friendly greetings in the "lobby" to the homey vibes and warm servers, you'll love every moment. Doesn't hurt that the food is delicious and plentiful. Everything is made from scratch with a lot of love, and each dish is huge and hearty. Lamb chops and lamb shoulder steaks are always A+ but be sure to order the desired temp because they don't always ask. Steaks are solid too. Same tip as above. And for all three, don't forget to get them smothered in whole cloves of roasted garlic. Personally I usually can't say no to sweetbreads at a Basque spot, and that's the case here as well. They're served in a rich, garlicky and well seasoned gravy, studded with red and green peppers and whole cloves of garlic. It's the perfect dish to use up the extra bread because you won't want to leave a drop. Make sure you bring a couple bucks to leave up on the ceiling! The bartenders can show you how to make em stick. And of course, have a picon punch!

We walked in and were sat by the booth all the way in the front by the music artist. It was actually so cool how they had the artist who was playing a saxophone, then the guitar then he can also sing and had a good voice. My major feed back with our experience is how the service was slow. We did have a big party, but what was crazy was that there was only one bartender. Mind you there was a host where you walk in and they count how many guest are there. The other person who helped at the bar did not come in until later and I'm not even sure if she actually helped out. Anyways, all their drinks I believe were the same price. I ordered the oasis which was really refreshing and tangy which I really liked. My bf ordered the tales of bourbon which unfortunately he did not like. Even our other friend who ordered the same thing did not like the bourbon. I do think the majority of our group enjoyed their drink. I would definitely say a nice spot to try and highly recommend it.
