No space or energy is wasted. An absolutely perfect little diner...oh, and the prices are so good compared to anything else around here. Love, love, love this little joint...and cannot resist their freshly squeezed OJ and delicious cheeseburgers!

Patty Melt - I was surprised my wife got this, but she enjoyed it. She did say it was very oily and messy. I forgot to try your homestyle spuds... Just means I need to come back. Ambiance - A good size dinner; see pictures. Cool decor. Semi open kitchen. Free standing, approximately two store fronts. Counter or table seating, all indoor. Plenty of mall parking. Open 7 days a week 6am to 2pm. Clean restrooms. Service - Just okay. It took a while for the waitress to acknowledge us. I know she was busy and I believe there were only two waitresses and one bus girl. But she literally walked by us 10 times without saying anything and with no eye contact, nothing. A simple, "I will be right with you" would have been nice. Once she got to our table, approximately 10 minutes later, it was a more positive experience. The one young bus girl is a hard worker and was nicer. Price - $24.20 + tip. Reasonably priced. Well in today's environment, it is inexpensive. Cash only (or checks); no credit or debit cards. They do have an ATM inside. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success 1980. And all your family's successes in the Bay Area, CA. See pictures and their decor.

If you're anywhere near Carson City, this BBQ spot is worth the stop! The restaurant is packed with…read moreold-time Americana and vintage artifacts, giving you something interesting to look at everywhere you turn. They also have an incredible beer selection with well over 100 beers on the menu, so there's something for everyone. A word of advice make reservations if you can. The wait was nearly an hour and it's easy to see why. We started with the fry bread and the jalapeño bombs. The fry bread was delicious, but those jalapeño bombs were an absolute 10/10 and a must-order. We originally came for the prime rib, but unfortunately they had already sold out around 6 p.m., which was definitely disappointing. Thankfully, the food that did make it to our table erased that disappointment pretty quickly. We ordered the two-meat BBQ plate with ribs and brisket, and both were cooked to perfection. The meat was tender, smoky, and paired perfectly with their delicious BBQ sauce. We also tried the spicy pot pie, which was unlike any pot pie I've had before, in a good way. It reminded me of an enchilada baked inside a buttery, flaky crust, and it was fantastic. The service was equally impressive. I feel terrible that I can't remember our server's name because he absolutely deserves the recognition. He was friendly, attentive, and made our entire experience even better. Between the amazing food, outstanding service, and unique atmosphere, this ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. In fact, it's probably the biggest reason I'd make the drive back to Carson City.

Food Unfortunately,…read morethe food was very disappointing. The ribs tasted stale and almost jerky-like, as if they had been sitting out too long or reheated multiple times. The basket of wings was cold in the middle and tasted as though they had simply been microwaved. They also tasted old and lacked freshness. The Jump Up and Kiss Me Chicken was overcooked and extremely dry. The flavor was just okay, but there was nothing particularly special about the dish. Service The service was very poor. Our waitress repeatedly rolled her eyes and barely checked on us to see if everything was okay. I had to repeatedly get up myself to ask for condiments, refreshments, and napkins. Management I was also disappointed with how the manager handled my concerns. After I explained our experience, her response was essentially, "Okay, I'll pass along your comments." She did not seem concerned or interested in making the situation better. Unfortunately, I understood why the service was so poor after speaking with the manager. A manager should set the standard for customer service, and in this case, I did not feel that there was much care or concern for the customers. I used to love going to Reds when they had the previous manager. He was always kind, attentive, and genuinely cared about the customers. The food was also delicious and tasted fresh. It's disappointing to see how much the experience has changed. I really hope management takes this feedback seriously because Reds used to be a place I genuinely enjoyed visiting.

My last visit to Sassafras was with a group of friends at the end of July. One friend ordered the amazingly tasty Shrimp Louie Salad, a couple others ordered Caesar Salads, and I had the Okonomiyaki . All the food was fresh and amazingly delicious. And the friends that tried my Oki all loved it and will be ordering it on their next visit. Service was super friendly and the restaurant couldn't be cuter or more welcoming. We'll definitely be back soon.

Here is what we liked: - Massive menu with lots of choices, including two pages of specials - We didn't drink that night, but we liked that there were a lot of beers on tap - My wife and I split both the Grinder sandwich and the Cheese Curd Burger. We liked that you get to pick a side with each sandwich/burger...the blue cheese slaw was excellent, and the homemade potato chips were the bomb too. My burger was a little overcooked, but we enjoyed both our meals. Our daughter had the Praline Bacon Burger, which she really enjoyed. - Vibe inside is a little funky...I wouldn't describe it as cozy, but it was fine. - Service was very good. Bottom line: We would go back to Sassafras for sure next time we're in the area!
