Food is very fresh, delicious with large portions in a very relaxed atmosphere. I had the bacon cheeseburger with tomato and onion with ketchup and mustard and it was hugely satisfying, so much so that I couldn't finish the entire burger and took the rest home for dinner. I also had their delicious fried mushrooms which were crispy, battered wonderfully and hot! Absolutely delicious. There were only a couple of other people ordering to go containers at around 12pm on a Saturday afternoon. The business with recently sold and had a new name on their outside signage, but still had US Sub Base written on the door entrance. Somewhat confusing, but it seems as if the old owner has sold the business to some new folks. So far, they are definitely keeping the old recipes and sandwiches alive. Came in for a quick sub and we were the only people in the restaurant. We ordered one sandwich to split and oh my goodness how long it took. It was only two teenage boys working, but how long does a sandwich take.... We waited for well over 15 minutes and when we got our sandwich it was okay. Nothing super amazing. Not bad. Not really worth coming back. We had a toddler with us so we are really living off borrowed time until he gets bored and wants to run off. Unfortunately this place took too long for a mediocre lunch. This was my absolute favorite sandwich shop when I use to work at the ATT store! This was over 10 years ago and I lived in Reno, but I would still go by when I was in town. I've moved to Vegas and I am usually never in Carson... but we happen to be over there so I wanted to see if it was still there. I was SO excited to stop in and get a sandwich. I immediately knew something had changed when I walked in because we weren't greeted at all and the 2 lady's just looked at us and said to give them a minute. I ordered a turkey sub, the same as I use to. My husband got a Philly and we got some onion rings. I looked at yelp while we waited for our food and saw the owner had sold the business - but I was hoping that they kept the same menu. My favorite part of the old sandwich was the bread and the shaker... neither of those things are being used. The bread was the best bread ever.. period... I'll die on that hill. The sandwich was good. Nothing special but it did taste good and had a lot of filling. My husband liked the Philly a lot and said that he would order it again. I forgot to get a pic :( The star for me were the onion rings lol. I am a sucker for thin and lightly battered onion rings. The service leaves a lot to be desired. We were the only ones there when we came in and they weren't very friendly. A far cry from the previous order who always had a smile and was always happy to see people walk through the door. Great service, but I wish I would have asked for more seasoning. One thing I love about ordering Philly cheesesteak is all the extras. My sandwich was served hot, but was bland and lacked Cheese and overall flavor. The girl working the counter was sweet, but wish I would have asked for extra salt and pepper and ordered extra cheese. Quiet shop and restrooms were clean. Overall love that this is locally owned shop. I'll be back, but will need to fine tune my preferences upon my next order. This may have been one of the best Philly cheesesteaks of my life, but a 12" sandwich was almost $20. The staff were not too friendly or helpful. I ordered onion rings, and they did not arrive. We have now visited twice and service was slow both times, even though we were 1 of 2 parties in the restaurant each time. Also, why do they not have a soda fountain? They only sell bottled drinks. I need ice. I would like the option of having a free cup of water, too, that's pretty standard at any restaurant. Generally the impression was that it was kind of seedy, not that clean, but the food is good. I doubt that I will visit again. Anyway, if you go, get the philly to go and ask for the parmesan and jalapenos, if you're into that. It's a good sandwich. read more

I ordered a burger, and the burger itself was good. I think it's odd it asks for a tip when you pay, because it's not full service and when I went to look for a place to sit, the tables were dirty, and no one else was at the restaurant, so they could have wiped the tables, or offered to wipe one before I sat down. I grabbed a Tabasco to add some hot sauce to my burger. It was super crusty. Dirty table dirty hot sauce bottle in an empty restaurant. During down time it's a good idea to wipe down tables and clean a bit. There was only two Tabasco bottles, so cleaning them wouldn't have taken long. It looked super dried on the bottle at the opening, as if it hasn't been cleaned in a long time. This is a cool spot, but the cleanliness was disappointing. If you're in the area it might be worth a try if you don't mind. If it was busy I would have understood it being a bit dirty, but it was empty. It was $8 for the burger and I tipped $1. Didn't think the service and food were worth that $9. I was still hungry after. read more

I've been here twice, once to try and once to give them a second chance. They absolutely insist on slathering your sandwich with mayonnaise even when you explicitly say several times, no mayo. If you love mayonnaise more than life itself, or enjoy having your order ignored while they make whatever they insist you ingest, this is the place for you. read more

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT as of May/June 2023. They're trying to serve the same menu but they cannot serve the passion and love that Frazier put into his food. I ordered a pastrami sandwich. Bun not steamed, not same bread, not same pastrami, white wine sauce (definitely not the same mix). I ordered extra meat and still there was too much bread. Ordered onion rings and they put them in the oven because they no longer have a deep fryer. My onions rings were soft, bready, no crunch. Awful. A quarter of they're menu is fried!!! Really disappointed with what has happened to this place. Everything has changed when locals were assured nothing was going to be different since changing ownership. The sandwiches have no love anymore. Why change something that has been a gem to the community for so many years? Such a shame. The area to seat yourself is very large and the menu has many options. There is seating outside as well. The gentleman behind can help out with recommendations if you are indecisive. There is street parking and a parking lot to park. Looks pretty clean inside for an old building. Let's see what the food is like Mom loved her burger and she hardly ever orders one! My Philly was good, over salted and really lacking in grilled onions and mushrooms which was charged $2 extra for. I want to start by saying Nicolas working was GREAT, and managing what he could do on his own. This review is specifically for management/owners. Leaving a teenager, with three days training, alone during dinner hours is cruel. Nicolas does not deserve this. He seems to be a great kid and working very hard!! If anything, give the kid a raise. The staff of teenagers was indifferent and kind of rude (especially compared to the previous owner who always provided great service) the prices were high, and what used to be THE best tasting hamburger and fries in the region, IMHO, are no longer anything special. This place used to be 5 stars best sub in town. My dad took me here for my first time when I was 13 years old. That was 22 years ago. Recently the owner got to sell the place and retire, which is awesome because I swear he worked this place 7 days a week. He poured his heart into this place. I came one day a while back after it had just been sold and met the new owner. I told him how much I loved this place and he said to me "good! Nothing will change, we want to keep it the same." The bread is different now, the toppings are different and lower quality, and my sandwich I ate had brown lettuce that was soggy. The olives tasted bland and I'm guessing came out of a low quality can. The new bread isn't bad, but it just doesn't have the same flavor or texture. The staff have all also left or were fired. I'm unsure which. I've known those ladies since I was a kid, there every day making sandwiches and helping me to create flavorful memories. Overall it's a mediocre sandwich now unfortunately. Also, not sure what happened but I ordered a 12$ sub with no extra toppings that cost more such as avocado, and my total came to 18$ and change (before my 20% tip which totaled it to a little over 22$). I'm sad to say port of subs, subway, firehouse, and all of the other chains in town have a better sandwich. One good thing was that my sandwich meet looked and tasted pretty fresh. Should've kept your promise instead of downgrading the quality and changing something that's worked well since 1989 when it opened. Man had to come back and down rate it from 2 stars to one. Well, that was disappointing. Are used to go on the US subway saw the time. Started going to some of the other shops because they had drive-through and it was quick. Today I was craving a red October. I went in and the restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly and the red October was OK. She asked me about toppings and I told her to load it up but she really didn't. I don't know if she didn't hear me, or if she had other things on her mind . Where I was at fault was, I didn't ask her to fix it. The part that really disappointed me was that I paid $24 for a 12 inch sandwich a bag of potato chips and a bottle of Pepsi. As a matter of fact he knows plenty of his business by name. I'm a big fan for hot toasted subs. I asked what the owner recommended and he recommended I try their pastrami sub. I ordered the 8" pastrami sub on wheat with some fries. The pastrami sub had abocado, provolone, onions, lettuce and Mayo mustard. Parmesan cheese was also sprinkled on it. Man this sub was so warm. Unfortunately I have to update my original review since ownership changed. Went in today and ordered a hot pastrami. The pastrami used to be perfectly thin and tender, but now it is way too thick and was over cooked - making it more like beef jerky. The bread used to be so light and fluffy, but that changed too - it's now very dense and just overpowers the sandwich. I couldn't eat half of the sandwich. Service is fine, not exceptional like it used to be. The remodeled look is a little nicer than before, but I'd rather have an amazing sandwich than care about the color of the walls. Overall it was a disappointing experience and wish things would go back to the way they used to be. read more

I decided to have lunch at U.S. Sub Base today. I haven't been there since Frasier sold the business. The menu looked the same with a few additions. I arrived at 11:50 - before the lunch crowd and I was the only person in there. I gave my 2 sandwich order and waited 40 minutes - yes 40 minutes. Meanwhile 2 door dashes came in and got their orders (I realize those orders were probably ahead of me) and 4 other people. EVERYONE got their orders before me. Finally, a gal asked me what I ordered. I asked her to tell me what I ordered and where was it. It's been 40 minutes. It took all 3 of the staff to make my order. This would have never happened with Frasier running the place. Further, while I was waiting a young man working there arrived. He was telling another gal what he did the night before. The "F" bomb was flying. I've heard the word before and have used it on occasion myself, but never in a business environment. Needless to say, I will never go back there. read more
