I was here for a business meeting with a large group. Despite that challenge, the food was delicious and drinks were excellent. Service was friendly and professional. All was served family-style. The process was efficient, and everyone enjoyed all dishes. The noise level in the side room was 91 decibels. While the noise was because we were all chatting, it was hard to hear. I came to a place that had empty tables and they said well we just don't have enough servers. The nice thing would've been to say well we can see you and give you some water. But no such thing. My reviews tend to be short and to the point and I always try to find something positive but I had two awful experiences over lunch and lotto and I'm ready to spend that amount of money on myself to make something tasty at home. The lobster roll was not a lot of food, as you can see from the photo. The server was nice, but had way too many tables so we did not get our food order in for like 30 minutes after sitting. The tables were also very close to each other so there was not a lot of space for feeling comfortable and it was pretty loud. We probably won't be coming back. read more

Wow, wow, wow. My dad recommended this place for dinner after he had enjoyed lunch here! At first I am not going to lie- I was turned off because of the four star reviews. The lighting, the deco- it was perfection. We had soooo many things. The Burrata- holy hell, we ate it so fast I had no time to take a pic. The carrots were delectable as were the lamb and pita. We also had the gnocchietta (spelling?), the mussels, AND the rolls to dip in that delicious sauce from the mussels. My friend and I came to The Kitchen American Bistro for Thanksgiving dinner but left with mixed opinions. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted and seated. Service here was top-notch; however, the food quality was inconsistent. I had the roasted turkey, and it was delicious! The gravy perfectly complemented the turkey and cranberry sauce. Taste-wise, the leek and mushroom dressing was excellent; however, it was also unevenly heated, with half of the dressing being cold. My date had the pot pie, and he was not a fan of the food. Another great spot to dine-in if you're staying in downtown DEN. Walking distance from Four Seasons Hotel, we came across this place after starting our morning stroll. This quaint dining establishment appears to be a popular spot just by looking inside at the restaurant. The atmosphere is a modern vibe with a large open space that brings the outside in that creates an airy and bright environment. It feels both trendy and comfortable. Service was incredibly friendly, gracious and professional. I ordered the Eggs Benny which was delicious and the wife had the Farmers Breakfast which is a bountiful plate. Based on how this matter was handled afterward, I believe that experience was the result of one employee's actions rather than a reflection of the company's culture. Melanie took the time to investigate the situation, verify that my concerns were legitimate, and, most importantly, take corrective action. She handled the matter with professionalism, respect, thoroughness, and integrity. In today's business environment, simply acknowledging that a customer has a legitimate concern and then acting on it speaks volumes about an organization's character. Whether or not we ever do business together in the future remains to be seen, but I believe it's only fair to update my review based on how the company responded. To me, this demonstrates authenticity, accountability, and a willingness to do the right thing when problems are identified. My favorite thing that I had was the lavender mocktail. Not only was it pretty to look at but it was actually quite tasty. It was essentially just like a lavender lemonade but unlike some places I've tried, you can actually taste the lavender fragrance which I personally love. We had a variety of items from the menu. This was my first time visiting The Kitchen American Bistro, and from the moment I walked in, I knew I was in good hands. I had the pleasure of having Momi as my server, and I mentioned right away that it was my first time here and I wasn't sure what to order. She didn't miss a beat -- she recommended starting with their signature "Downtown Derby" cocktail. Great call -- it was the perfect way to kick off the night. After that, I decided to fully trust Momi's recommendations and let her guide the entire dinner. First up was the Carrots plate -- I'll admit, I was a little skeptical at first (it's just carrots, right?) -- but when the dish arrived, it completely exceeded my expectations. A fantastic start. Next came the Lamb Arayas -- absolutely a 5 out of 5. Tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Momi then surprised me with Grilled Oysters, which were also very good -- I'd give them a solid 4 out of 5. For the main course, she suggested the Bone Marrow, and let me tell you, it was another knockout -- easily another 5 out of 5 and something I would highly recommend to anyone visiting. To finish, Momi insisted I couldn't leave without trying the Mousse Dome for dessert -- she was absolutely right. The perfect ending to an outstanding evening. Pretty decent place, came here for lunch. They have outdoor and indoor dining options. Very modern and spacious inside. Service was friendly and attentive. As you come in you see Kimbal Musk's book, and it is his restaurant (brother of Elon Musk). I would say it is not amazing but pretty decent. We had tomato soup, baby lettuces salad, and halal chicken sandwich with fries. We also had two non alcoholic cocktails that were ok. Went here for dessert and after-dinner drinks after having a disastrous meal elsewhere. The staff was incredibly nice, attentive, and this place has a nice outdoor area to sit at. The Mousse Dome was a perfect size (not too big, not too tiny) and tasted great. Husband loved their take on Creme Brûlée. I love The Kitchen. We used to have one in Fort Collins and I loved coming in for some french fries or a cocktail. We recently went and the summer menu is so fresh and colorful and fun! We started with the Lamb Arayas they were amazing the labneh was so bright and really balanced out the heavier flavors of the filling. Dill and lemon is one of my favorite flavor combos so I was thrilled with the generous amount of lemon zest and fresh pile of dill. The crispy cod was INSANE. Easily both of our favorite plates of the night - it's so crispy and the cod is perfectly flaky melt in your mouth underneath the crust. The chickpeas were also one of my favorites and i've been dying to work on recreating a similar version so I can experience this at home. The cilantro, mint and tzatziki were so playful and bright and the green harissa brought a well balanced heat to the plate. And last but not least we got the garlic fries because how could we not?! They never miss - they are thick cut yet crisp and garlicky. Service is always wonderful- we had a super friendly and helpful server and the ambiance is very pleasant. read more

I haven't been inspired to write a review in a long long time, but I was tonight. I'm tagging along while my wife was in town for a conference. We wanted a nice meal for our last night here, and after doing some research, we chose The Kitchen. It was the right choice. The menu is unique in that each section (meat, fish, grains, etc) has appetizers and entrees. I've never seen that. We started with the carrots after reading that they are a specialty, and it's easy to see why. The combination of flavors exploded off the plate (a theme of this review), along with a little heat. I got the hanger steak (medium rare) and wife got the rigatoni with bolognese. The meat was superb, tender, seasoned, and cooked just right. But the star of the plate was the spinach Catalan side. Once again the combination of flavors was mind blowing. I detected carmelized onions, pine nuts, truffles, but there's more I'm missing. It all worked. The bolognese was fresh and flavorful. We finished with a shared a pot au chocolat, served with crème anglaise to pour over it. I'll be honest, if you want super rich chocolate, this is not that. But the combination of the rich crème and chocolate yielded audible moans from both of us. All in all a memorable meal to close out our time in Denver. read more

I went with a large reserved party of 24 for a work dinner. The restaurant itself has a lot of space to accommodate large groups, and we did not feel cramped or overwhelmed with our two large tables. They had a large room with doors that can be used for a private event. We were seated on an upper area near the cook line. The service was outstanding. We received all of our drinks and food quickly. And were often checked on to make sure that we had everything we needed. As such a large group, we expected the food to be more spread out with delivery, however, they were able to plate everybody within a few minutes apart. The philosophy here is that sharing is caring. The menu starts with lighter/smaller items on top with more hearty meal options on the bottom. We shared a few from the top of the menu at each table and then ordered our own from the bottom. Had I gone with family or close friends, we might have shared entrees, but since this was a work even I did not. Now to the food, we enjoyed everything that we received! We ordered the carrots due to the other amazing reviews, and I can say that they did not disappoint. They were crispy and had a unique flavor to them, the whipped feta was the perfect pairing. The chicken was juicy and very flavorful. The fries that it sat upon were crispy and not too oily. Both items complimented each other well. Our server said the chicken is one of their most popular dishes, and I can see why. The Denver steak was delicious. It comes with some salsa on top to add some extra flavor to the meat and it was a great combo. It sits on top of a hominy and sweet potato mixture that was crispy and flavorful. I would highly recommend The Kitchen. The service was top notch from the moment I got in. The manager, Chris, proactively took my coat and scarf for an easy coat check. Jamie who works at the bar was absolutely great, and when Momi showed up, she was great too. The two of them took such good care of everyone at the bar. The rest of the staff was so attentive to everyone and went out of their way to help folks. When I asked Stefan for restroom directions, I expected "walk straight then left", but he just walk me there even though I interrupted what he was doing. When you travel so much for work, "whatever" can be the norm, but when you feel you were taken really good care of, it sticks out. THANK YOU to the team for making my evening feel special. Made a resy for a group dinner (13 people) for Tuesday at 6:30p while on a business trip. Wanted to get the party started a little earlier so we had a couple cocktails at the bar before getting seated at our square table in the slightly "upstairs" dining room. The restaurant was well lit, very upbeat and lively, and filled with happy restaurant go-ers. To start, we basically ordered every appetizer on the menu for the table to sample. Everything was SO good. Each item had creative and unique pairings that all jived really well. I especially enjoyed the roasted carrots. Not sure if it's a seasonal item? For my main entrée, I had the Rigatoni Bolognese which was hands down one of the best I've had. The rigatoni was cooked al dente (just how I love it), and the bolognese was flavorful and cooked to perfection. We had 2 servers tending to our table, both were helpful and efficient, especially given our large group of 13. Our table got pretty noisy (as the cocktails were flowing) but that didn't seem to be a problem for the restaurant as it's a happening place. We've been dining at The Kitchen for over 4 years. It has been a favorite--a reliable spot when we want to impress out-of-town guests, treat ourselves, and make a recommendation. It pains me to write this review, but I rely on reviews, so I need to let people know our opinion has changed. The menu is still diverse and creative. The food is also prepared with genuine love and craftsmanship. This is about the value. There are two dishes that my husband and I reliably order: the Carrots with Whipped Feta and the Crispy Cauliflower. Four years ago, our minds were blown by these dishes. We ordered other dishes, only because we wanted to taste more things, but these dishes alone were very satisfying. The carrots were a mountain of orange discs, and the cauliflower was a whole cauliflower expertly prepared with spices and crunchy chickpeas, mango, and pickled onion. Over the years, we've noticed the shrinking portions, but nothing prepared us for the carrot dish that was once served on a dinner plate, now being offered to us on a dessert plate. There were definitely not more than 1 1/2 carrots. It was literally laughable. The cauliflower looks to be half a cauliflower from a whole, and at $24.50, it's hard to justify, despite the magic the kitchen is producing. My aunt ordered Shrimp a la Plancha. The sauce was abundant, so I didn't realize the dish only had three shrimp for $24.50. She ordered dessert because she was still hungry, not because it was a sweet treat to end the meal. Interestingly, the Crispy Cod I ordered was a particularly large portion. I happily offered to share with the rest of my party as they tried to make sense of their paltry plates. I feel sorry for the servers who deliver these dishes. Most of them have been at The Kitchen for years, so they're aware of the dwindling portion sizes. While I felt sorry for our server (who has served us over the years), his snarky response to my husband's comment about the measly carrot portion was inappropriate. He could have just acknowledged it and moved on. Yes, inflation is real, and The Kitchen has decided to address it with portion sizes. Interestingly, now that I'm looking at other comparable restaurants in the area, I am seeing more reasonable prices. Will I be disappointed to discover minuscule portion sizes? Standouts were carrots (random I know but get them!), cauliflower, fries, burrata and pork chop. I love mussels but they intentionally do not serve with bread which was odd to me. Granted, it was her birthday and also one of her favorite restaurants. Will now have to try the Chicago and Boulder locations because it was quite a charming experience. I tried a number of different items, starting with the Sea Salt cocktail and one other I can't remember. Super flavorful and well-crafted. Also on the menu: * Crispy Artichokes - Exciting presentation. Served with black garlic aioli. * Tiradito - Always a fan of raw fish with ponzu and sesame oil. * Black Spaghetti - Not the biggest fan of the garlic bread crumbs, but it was a filling and beautifully-presented dish. * Chevré Cheesecake - Love the combination of fig, lemon, and pear. * Mousse Dome - What an fun-looking dessert with complex flavors. Overall it's clear that the kitchen (or "The Kitchen") puts a lot of thought into the design of their menu and each item on it. Would love to come back and try more of the cocktails (especially what's part of their happy hour) and take my partner. Great spot for group outings.
