The food is unique and Family style if you want or not if you don't. They have a great patio and we have yet to try anything we didn't like. Service is good and staff seems like they want to be there, answering all questions about food and drinks. The only draw back is if you have a smaller party you may have to sit with others as the seating is family style as well. It can be awkward to sit with people you don't know, but honestly that has only happened to us once. We were actually able to get seated right away on a Tuesday night at 7 pm. My friends and I got a pitcher of the Blackberry Lemonade to share. It was huge! Each of us also got cute little glasses with a lemon. It was a refreshing and yummy drink. For food, I got the Fried Chicken BLT. The eagle is just right EVERY time. I genuinely crave their Mac n cheese with chicken and the kale salad. One of my favorite meals in Indy! My partner always goes with the fried chicken and absolute loves it. They also have a hot honey to drizzle over your food- SO good! I love their blackberry lemonade and my partner gets the $3 miller high life chalice. Can't beat that deal! Was in town for NBA Allstar, came in on Valentine's Day, they were definitely understaffed, but the people that were there went above and beyond. I was starving and ordered EVERYTHING! Fried Chicken, shrimp and grits, hushpuppies, collard greens, chicken dip, and mac n cheese. and... I would do it all again! The chicken dip has so much flavor, the shrimp and grits is a great small portion, the hushpuppies are must. The only downside is that people like to hold the door open and sitting at the bar was a little chilly. It's unfortunate that the overall service at The Eagle is so incredibly poor because the food is truly great! However, if you want to go somewhere with good service, this is NOT the place to go... horrible, horrible service. After having a bad in-person experience, we ordered takeout (because again, the food is good) to avoid dealing with bad service... they lost our takeout order, took over 45 minutes to fix the mistake (they were not busy), had to get a manager involved after the host told us the order would be ready "shortly" and then failed to inform us for over 20 minutes that the order had actually been lost (we had to go to the bartender to ask because the host was entirely unhelpful). While we love the food and completely understand that things happen, the consistent bad service is enough to keep us away! When I walked in for lunch, the atmosphere was very nice and I felt welcomed. Throughout the meal, the service was excellent, with them even giving me full cups of my food's side sauce to take home. The food was amazing, making me feel like I was down south. The fried chicken was so juicy and had a crispy and flavorful skin. The hot honey wasn't really for me, having a strong distinct taste, but I'm sure there's enjoyment to be had for others. The biscuits were fluffy on the inside and crumbly on the outside and had a rich buttery taste. The jam it came with honestly didn't add much - it had a great tangy flavor, but I found myself wanting to enjoy the flavors of the chewy biscuit on its own. This place has a great vibe, we sat outside which is perfect for people watching. There is a bit of construction going on, so parking can be a mess depending on what time of the day you go, but we went around 6 and didn't have any problems. I thought of a former coworker when I ate at the Eagle. She only ate chicken in terms of protein; it was chicken, chicken, chicken, though in many formats. That is the Eagle: chicken, chicken, chicken. I would recommend it for chicken. I would not suggest vegetarians come here or those who are carnivores but prefer another animal as the source of their meat. I enjoyed lunch. I ate a half chicken, dark meat, and the mac and cheese. The chicken came with a bottle of honey, which was an excellent accompaniment (is honey a condiment?). The skin of the chicken is where the flavor is. The texture was good; it was not overcooked and dry, which is common even at restaurants. The mac and cheese was a huge improvement over a Kraft box, but not quite at the super fancy, high end gourmet stuff some places offer (with lobster, etc.); I added Crystal hot sauce. I also had an "Arnold Palmer" (there was a failure to protect IP, with that name), made with what they claim to be homemade lemonade and homemade sweet tea. In Indianapolis for a business trip to the NCAA HQ, I walked from the hotel. The roundtrip was 2.5 miles. That was good to work off the calories (you never do that; they say you cannot outrun a bad diet). It also a useful measure. I would rate the experience as worth the hike and the exertion. I had researched, on Yelp, where to have a meal. I can vouch for the restaurant and this social media platform. I was satisfied. They have outdoor seating. I sat at a fourtop by myself. The also have bar stools and high tables.It was a sunny day, unseasonably warm. They were doing good business. It was already half full before noon. At the next table, some work colleagues or maybe a salesperson and prospective clients, were ordering loads of appetizers. I overheard one remark that everything on the menu will cause a heart attack. That might well be. I suppose once you're committed to fried chicken, you have dismissed the risk or deemed it acceptable. read more

This places chicken is the best I've ever had. It is perfectly moist in a crispy breading that goes good with any sandwich or side. In the span of 4 days, I came here 3 times for the fried chicken. My partner and I came around 5:15 on a Friday night, put our names on the waitlist, and took a seat at the bar to grab a drink. Seating was a little crowded, but the bartenders were quick and attentive and the rum punch was great! The 20 minute wait gave us time to look over menus and decide on what we wanted: a quarter chicken for him, the chicken BLT for myself, and spoonbread to share. I guess they really try to maximize seating here, because the tables are essentially divided in half by a 6 inch wooden divider. Kind of awkward when the other side of your table is quiet and it feels like they're listening to your whole conversation! I did like the dark, industrial-meets-country feel of the decor. We received our food about 15 minutes after ordering. The spoonbread was divine; moist, buttery, and had just enough sweetness to really shine. My chicken BLT was also phenomenal. Buttery and perfectly-toasted bread, a thick bed of lettuce, and of course some great chicken! The avocado relish and jalapeño honey mayo were perfect compliments to the dish. My partner really enjoyed his quarter chicken and hot honey. Four stars instead of five because we had to wait 15 minutes after we had finished eating just to get the check. My boyfriend has eaten here and ordered carry out on several occasions, and the speed of service is frequently slow.
