I've been quite a bit and love it! From brunch to prefix dinner to speciality cocktails - it's always been delicious, creative and welcoming! I've brought book club, my mentee, long lost cousins and my family here. The servers are very kind and helpful. The vibe is positive and artsy. There's a small parking lot. It's right off the Redline. And walking from Garfield Park and Library. It's a community hotspot and I wish it wasn't leaving... especially with ample seating inside and out, community dinners and first Friday.
Great place to stop, especially if you are visiting Garfield Park. The food is really good. Take some time to walk around the neighborhood and stop in the shops in the area. There is a great book store (Pen & Pink) right next door.
We had a great time on our first visit to Parkside. Our server was very kind and engaging. She suggested a couple of options for dinner. We shared the Smashburger special that comes with a beer and fries and also the mushroom flatbread. Both were quite delicious. We also got a bread pudding to share for everyone which is massive and also very very good. The casual atmosphere is very inviting. A local place that we will go to often.
We were greeted, given menus, and invited to pick any table as soon as we walked in. Our server was very friendly and helpful and the food came out nice and quick. My friend was able to customize her power bowl with a different protein, which was super nice. It's not a huge menu, but a lot of things sounded great! I appreciated the variety in mocktails too and both of ours were delicious! The weather was starting to get a little rough when we stopped in so we didn't get to use it but there was a little patio with outdoor seating as an option, which I always enjoy. The inside was decorated nicely, including lots of art work and a gallery of work created by the staff.
Eclectic interior and a nice patio when it's not so hot outside. Our service was a bit slow but we ordered behind a table of I think 20 people so we were fine chatting. I was super impressed with the double decker BLT. The bacon was crispy and had it not it would have been a totally different sandwich. Two of us got a Pita Ham and Cheese and were happy with it. One got a kids ( didn't realize it was kids ) cheese burger. But all said was can I just get a cheeseburger. Being a kids burger it came sin lettuce, pickle or anything on it. She said the burger was good and she liked the fries. Located right next to Garfield Park with a decent parking area. I think we'd be back to maybe try brunch.
Finally made it in here, this has been on my list for quite a while. The interior is quite eclectic with tons of art pieces covering every inch of the walls in here. Love it. Especially the wall of test tubes with dried and artificial flowers. Plenty to look at and keep you entertained. We were greeted right away and invited to pick a spot we'd like to sit at. Our server Joni stopped by immediately. She took great care of us, answered our questions regarding the menu and brought us everything we needed. It is a skill to be so attentive without hovering. After a little difficulty deciding what we would like to eat, I settled on the straw-basil mimosa and the double decker BLT. My friend opted for the blueberry muffin mimosa and the quiche of the day. The mimosas were quite tasty I must say, too bad I had to drive or else I might have gotten another. The double decker BLT was huge. I had to eat it in installments. Ate the top half in the restaurant and devoured the bottom half later in the day. My friend loved her meal also and we will surely be back for more.
We were in the area from out of town and this spot is super well located between the conservatory, library, coffee shops and murals, etc! The pros are the friendly staff, the cool art on the walls (tons to look at!) and some creative menu options/deals like a weekday $13 lunch deal or $50 three course meal for 2. The downsides- we sat by the door and it was quite cold, I think it's because we were by the door/a drafty window but I noticed space heaters throughout the space. My husband and I both ordered the BLT and while it was good, it wasn't special- the Roma tomato were small coin-sized slices and the romaine lettuce was the yellow, small inside pieces. I thought this sandwich would be a lot better with a thick sweet tomato slice and leafy green lettuce. For some reason, the fries and breakfast potatoes were taking a long time to come out of the kitchen. Our server apologized, but they came out after the rest of the meal and I overheard a server telling the next table it would be at least 30 mins for another order to come out. When they came out, they were cold. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing (the breakfast plate that the folks next to us had looked good) but I left a bit disappointed in my meal. Overall good option to visit in the Garfield Park neighborhood and hopefully just caught them on an off day with the food!
Was able to meet a friend for brunch, I allowed her to pick out where we could meet and she picked out PPH, and I was happy to get back and check out brunch as well as the inside, which is a very cool decorated space! I had a sake Bloody Mary that was savory and delicious, I got some oysters again since I love them so much, for my main course I had the crab cake Benedict, which was savory, and all around tasty! To finish I had an old style on draft, which I like to take advantage of when I can! Friendly service again as well! Check this place out! There's something for everyone!
Parkside has made a believer out of meeee!!! Omg! I've always said that I don't like biscuits and gravy, but their chorizo b&g has changed my life!!! You get two of the most delicious scratch made biscuits on top of a piping hot bowl of chorizo gravy. It's so delicious and flavorful and it literally warms your soul! All of the employees were super sweet and inviting. They definitely curate a warm and welcoming environment. I loved looking at all of the art on the walls while we were waiting for our food.
If you've never been to Garfield Park, you could just go to Parkside Public House to get a feel for this quirky, artsy, vibrant area of town. The decor, the mismatched dishes, the layout all scream Garfield Park. The service was excellent and the wait time for our food was so short! It was a great lunch time option for a quick bite. 4 stars because although the food was absolutely delicious, the price was a bit steep for the amount.
My husband saw a post on Facebook stating that Parkside Public House had a Fat Tuesday special. All you could eat crawfish. Although not normally open on Tuesday's they were open for this special event. Reservations were taken via pm Plenty of parking, when we entered we were greeted by the manager/owner whom welcomed us and took Us to our table. He pointed out that the "boil" would be dumped in the middle of the table which was covered with paper l Special beer, purple haze, was brought in special from New Orleans was served. We given samples. I enjoyed it as it was a raspberry wheat beer. The manager brought out bowls of "boil". As soon as we ate what we had been served he brought more. Very generous servings. We decided to have raspberry cheesecake and coffee both were excellent. This is a local establishment and many people lived near by. They brought us into their neighborhood and treated us as though they knew us. We were told that next month will be a wine/dinner. We are looking forward to detail on this event I have included pictures of the warm inviting environment, perfect for Garfield park area Will we go back. Most certainly, it reminded me of a supper club. Good food, good drinks, good service and good time.
First time visiting Parkside located in Garfield Park. Beautiful restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, lots of unique art on display and the sweetest staff. This was last weekend for devour Indy so my husband and I decided to try the devour menu. To drink, I ordered the mango Rita with popping boba, fruity and tasty. For our first course, we got the crabcakes which were amazing! Second course, I ordered the barbecue ribs with zucchini and mashed potato's, it was delicious and had a bit of spicy zest for flavor. For third course, we had banana pudding which was also sooo good! I'd love to go back and try other dishes and drinks
Amazing ambiance and even better service! We've absolutely loved both visits to Parkside Public House. Highly reccomend the Frittata for brunch!

I've been here one other time for dinner and have always wanted to try their brunch menu and I'm so glad I did!! I got the cheddar bay dropped biscuits with chorizo gravy and a kale caesar salad because *healthy* The caesar is heavily dressed (which I like) but a little too fishy for my taste. Still delicious though! I had the absolute sweetest server!! I wish I could remember their name because they were friendly and attentive. Can't wait to come back read more
Yikes!! Haven't had this bad of an experience somewhere in a long time. My husband and I stopped in here for dinner this last Saturday night. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the female bartender doing shots with customers. She then came over and tried to play it off and said we could sit wherever and gave us menus. Our server came over and brought us water and then told us "whatever it says we have online, we don't have" before walking away. He didn't come back for a super long time and we were about to get up and leave (wish we had) right before he finally came back. I asked how big of a piece of salmon they serve if I were to add it on top of their kale salad and it was a decent size so I chose that for dinner. My husband got the BLT (the whole reason we went there for dinner). I ordered a glass of Prosecco and my husband ordered a beer that they had on the menu up front, but he was told they actually didn't have it. He ordered the Mexican lager instead. While we waited for our drinks, my husband was reading the board by the front entrance and it was full of July 4th specials, but we are halfway through August. Our drinks came out and my Prosecco was great (the only good thing from our entire visit). My husband's beer was bad/flat and he took one sip and never drank anything else from it. Our server either never noticed or didn't care. Then, to top it off, the next day they posted online about having trouble with their lines, so they knowingly served us/charged us for a bad beer. Our food came out and I was IMMEDIATELY hit with a strong fish smell, which is not normal for salmon. The taste was even stronger than the smell and I tried to trick myself into thinking it was because they cook it differently, but it grossed me out and I started looking online to see if it was okay and it is either from it spoiling/improper storage or cooking at way too high of a temperature. From our table we could see into the back that their cooler door was left open our entire time there, so I'm guessing it was spoiled/improperly stored. Needless to say, I didn't finish my food. My husband said his bacon didn't taste fresh, but still ate his sandwich. He said his chips were stale and didn't eat any of them after trying the first one. The terrible dinner combined with the wall behind us covered in a bunch screws and nails poking out with nothing hanging on them, the floors being filthy, and the staff being inattentive made us unsurprised that they only had one other table and a couple of people at the bar while we were there on a Saturday night. I would not return here again. read more
This is a trendy little spot in the Garfield Park area and a great spot to eat before we went to the conservatory. They have indoor and outdoor seating which is great. We stopped in on Sunday and had brunch, I decided on a vanilla iced latte and the Bees & Gees which was their spin on biscuits and gravy. My drink had good flavor, but the consistency was odd and a bit chunky. I've never ordered an iced latte with small chunks of I assume milk? The food took a while to come out and my friend and I ordered the same thing. The biscuit and gravy were both delicious. There was so much gravy in the bowl! I didn't care for the gravy to biscuit ratio. Overall the vibes were there, but the food and service were just ok. I would come back and try something else if I was in the area. read more

This place is an absolute hidden gem! It has a diner/hipster vibe but the food is fantastic. We had the mussels for an app (there were three of us) then we split the patty melt (a must try) and the tuna dish (think more sushi than tuna steak). For dessert we have the bread pudding and it was fantastic. Literally the best I've ever had. The server was nice, definitely not in a hurry and a bit of an order taker than a server but I wouldn't be upset if we had her again read more

Parkside is such a lovely little spot. Service was impeccable - I don't like to ask for too much, but the servers were so kind and accommodating to me and my vegan friend. The devour menu was great and the fried tenderloin was juicy. The bread pudding was also great with homemade whipped cream. They serve beer, wine, and some wine-based cocktails, but no hard liquor, at least for the time being. The Lambrusco was *chefs kiss* Will be back when the weather is nicer for brunch on the patio and the cosmic cake! read more
Parkside Public House is a Garfield Park gem! Not only was the food great, but it was also cozy inside with great service. Our waiter was personable and talked us through the menu, going above and beyond to comp our drink when the others we wanted were out. We ordered the Best Patty Melt after seeing rave reviews and finding it on the IndyStar's top 10 dishes list. I have to say it lived up to its name. We specifically enjoyed the marbled rye bread it was on and the homemade spicy pickles on the side - nice touches to round out the dish. We also ordered the Thai Curry, a vegan soup option served with rice. It was so flavorful! It's not everyday that you order a curry with your patty melt, but I have to say somehow it complemented each other so well with a "soup and sandwich" vibe. Perfect dinner to split for two! read more

Parkside Public house in an inviting space located near Garfield Park. I might've went in with too high expectations. We were immediately greeted and seated. The ambience here is quirky, and I loved the playlist. We ordered a side of potatoes, the biscuits and gravy and the best patty melt. I believe everything is cooked to order so it will take awhile. It took 30 minutes to get our food. My husband really loved his sandwich, for the price they definitely could've given him more chips. The bad the biscuits and gravy was more biscuits served over a bowl of soup they called gravy. It was truly terrible. The absolute worst biscuits and gravy I've ever had. I'm attaching a video so you can see the consistency. Once I asked the server if this is how it's usually served she said yes. Her attitude completely shifted. For the price of the dishes here I'd expect a lot more. Based on this experience it's not somewhere I'd come back. read more

This review is a few days late, as I had the pleasure of attending here on the first opening night - before it was even listed on Yelp. The restaurant has a bit of a low key exterior with a gorgeous interior that feels like being at home, with lots of artwork, plants, and other wall hangings. In a word, the space feels loved. The menu is a bit limited but has something for everyone. I ordered the Flatbread, which is actually served as more of a sandwich than a conventional flatbread. Service was pretty good all things considered, opening periods are always an adjustment. I also got the rainbow sherbet which comes in cute mini martini glasses. I enjoyed both dishes quite nicely, and the flatbread serves well as a leftover. I think that I will be much more inclined to visit Garfield Park and conclude afternoon strolls with a treat at the Parkside! read more

I loved my tacos with a warm corn tortilla & crispy carnitas pork. The vegetable and cheese toppings are fresh. At first glance, I was worried the price was too high for the portion size, but it was actually SO filling. Delicious & reasonably-priced oysters (with pear champagne mignonette) are available in any quantity (no minimum). I love a delicate oyster with an acidic, crispy shallot. I didn't get the biscuits and gravy (Bees and Gees), but my waiter highly recommended it & mentioned that they'd run out that day at brunch because of its popularity. The staff is vibrant & friendly and will likely ask you if you're from the Garfield Park neighborhood. The whole establishment cares significantly about investing in the immediately neighboring community. Both outdoor and indoor seating is available. The indoor seating has several options from couches to hard-top tables to the bar. For alcohol drinkers, beer is on tap, cocktails are made fresh, and there are several wines (red, white, and rose). Outdoor seating is umbrella-covered picnic tables next to raised garden beds. You'll see eclectic art on the walls and can go downstairs to enjoy a small art museum surprise (Imagine Indy Art Gallery). This place did an excellent job with renovating an old building into a popular and appealing community restaurant. Parking in Garfield Park is free, including street spots on Shelby St & other neighboring lots. Feel free to ride the Red Line as the restaurant is steps from the bus stop. You can make a day out of being in the neighborhood, even just along Shelby St, visiting the brewery, French bakery, coffee shop, vintage shops, plant shops, and the oldest park in Indianapolis: historic 128-acre Garfield Park. read more

Stopped in after looking for restaurants I haven't been to yet and I am glad I did! The food was delicious. Idk who they get their beef from, but it does taste amazing. They have vegetarian and vegan options as well. The Thai Curry soup is one of them, and the flavors in it are very well rounded. It was a slow Thursday afternoon when I went. I was seated immediately (told wherever was fine) and immediately helped after sitting down. I wish I could remember his name, but the server 6/19 around noon was amazing! The overall feel of the restaurant is rustic and hipster. There is a lot of art to look at while you eat and talk. They appear to have a concert series or band at least once a week, as well as other events posted that I will have to check out. Will be coming back again just for the soup alone, everything else was a bonus read more
