Ambiance is good, not as loud as you'd think it'd be since it's a smaller place. The service is great as well, very friendly and willing to help. We had a mid-large sized group and the staff were happy to explain or ask you directly if you'd like anything. My only issue really came down to the food quantity/quality for the cost. I shared the bao buns, I thought those were great, 3 for ~$23. Then the ravioli. THE RAVIOLI. 5 mid sized pieces of ravioli for $33 and it's listed as a "Large Plate" entree?! This was such a great restaurant to go to in Indy, especially as a first timer in the city. I sat at the bar with a colleague of mine where we chatted with some of the bartenders. The hospitality was great, and their drink and food recommendations were equally wonderful. One thing to note is the portions on the appetizers are fairly large, so keep that in mind when ordering. To start, we ordered the Korean Fried Mushrooms with baechu kimchi, gochujang honey, daikon radish, furikake, and scallions. These were great but unfortunately had to save room for the other items and could not finish. Then got the Center Cut Ribeye which came with cajun spiced spaetzle, summer squash, remoulade sauce, pink peppercorn ricotta, scallions, sweetie drops, and chimichurri. The steak was cooked to a rare/medium rare consistency that was delicious and we loved the tiny peppers. We paired it with a nice red wine the bartender recommended and it was a lovely experience. Lastly we ended the night with the strawberry dacquoise and espresso. The dessert came with strawberry mousse, pistachio cake, strawberry glaze, white chocolate bark with pistachio & pink peppercorn, and frosted mint. It was a refreshing summertime dessert perfect to end the day. I definitely recommend the steak dish and heard the airline chicken and Chilean sea bass were good too. Would love to come back and try a cocktail and a different dish while sitting on the patio! Second Time: Got the tamarind disco cocktail that comes with a lollipop - amazing, would order again!We tried the fried chicken and caviar, pork chop, and honey cake! Friendly staff. Great ambiance and low key, approachable decor. Unassuming. Low volume music sets the right mood without it being distracting. It's a very small kitchen where all the action happens, which is very impressive for a restaurant their size. Very knowledgeable staff and servers described all the ingredients and notes of flavor to look for in the dishes very well. Most ingredients were locally sourced and staff highlighted the importance of souring fresh local ingredients with every dish. Everyone form the hostess to the bartender and bus boy were friendly and welcoming. definitely 5* for service. The menu is a mix of several cuisines from Korean to Italian and even some French with a twist. The menu has great vegetarian options. Unfortunately the chef's tasting menu wasn't available as my reservation was made same day, but I decided to go with the two specials of the day. Dinner kicked off with a shot of Champaign on the house They like welcoming their guests that way. Water kept being refilled immediately. The staff again was very attentive. As an appetizer I went with the Scallops crudo with house made berry vinegar. The crudo was a healthy serving of scallops. Crispy raw carrots and radish provide some texture, while greens including endive provided some bitterness. This dish was a bit heavy on pepper and bitterness from the endives and could use some acidity to balance it out. Scallops were not as sweet as I was expecting. A bit more of the homemade raspberry vinagrette would have been perfect. The dark blue ring caused by the marination process would have shown more on a different color serving plate instead of a black bowl. For the main course I ordered the Beet linguini with sea bass. Interesting take on linguini Pickled rhubarb, rainbow radishes, fresh dill and a 'beet marinara' sauce reminded me of borscht. Unfortunately the linguini was overcooked and soaked up a lot of the butter and sauce. The pickled rhubarb provided a break from the heaviness of the dish but overall the dish lacked brightness. Sea bass was perfectly cooked. Seared and crusted with salt and pepper on one side, simple. Well executed but nothing special. For dessert I went with the Strawberry dacquoise which was delicious. The white chocolate bark with pink peppercorn stole the show. It should be layered inside the dessert! I wanted more of it. This dessert was not overly sweet. it was a great mix of pistachios and strawberry and fluffy cake. Gelee was a bit too dense but otherwise fantastic end to a good meal. read more

Tinker street is one of those places where the portions are small and the bill is large; you are paying for flavor and taste, not for quantity. Why you can't get all three for those prices, I'm not sure. We started with the soup of the day - celery. It was served in an odd bowl that had a huge rim and a little bowl area; is that to make you think you're getting more than you are? Definitely not the type of bowl you would slurp out of - maybe that's the point? Either way, it was thick, creamy, rich, and flavorful, but lukewarm. For our main course, we had the Tandoori Ravioli ($33) with added Tofu ($8), and bread ($4) and the White Bean Fricassee & Shrimp ($35). All delicious. The Ravioli in particular is an unusual sympathy of varied flavors; the waiter guided us toward the tofu, saying, "It's not that much food and it really does need some kind of extra protein." He was right. You also definitely need to order the bread - despite the $4 charge for very basic toasted beignet slices - in order to sap up all of the flavorful sauce. All good, all highly recommended... just not enough. We followed with a dessert of peanut parfait and house made sorbet. They are not as stingy with the dessert as they are with the main course. Filling, creative, tasty and also highly recommended. Maybe just order two desserts and call it a meal? They offer a wide variety of wines and spirits, but we're not drinkers so didn't indulge beyond a very refreshing iced tea and mocktail. But I'm sure if you drank it would add much to your experience. Now, to some of the non-food elements: First, the service was excellent; we had a main waiter, but there were several other people who came to the table or delivered food and all were polite, helpful, cheery, and attentive. They perhaps use "we" a bit too much as in, "What will 'we' be having tonight" or "Are 'we' thinking about some dessert"? I don't know, are WE? But beyond that, they were fantastic. Second, the "ambiance": we (party of two, not including the waiter) were not seated in the restaurant proper, but rather "outside" in a heavy plastic tent room-extension; heavy roof, thick plastic sides, basically an extra room but made of plastic and tarp. But definitely not in the restaurant. We may as well have been in the middle of the parking lot in a tent. When you dine out at a pricier restaurant, you expect to eat IN the restaurant, not in some cheap-looking added plastic bubble. If you are going to be expected to eat there, then there should be a price reduction. Finally, parking: They have a parking lot that does not hold enough cars for the restaurant so you are reduced to street parking. That would be fine, but the restaurant is on a narrow, neighborhood street with houses where you can parallel park on one side, but there's not a lot of room or spaces because it is a residential area. We had to park a long block away and walk in the drizzling ran. Not a big deal, but I can't imagine how bad it would be if the rain or snow were really heavy or if you had to make the walk in high heels. So, increase the portion sizes, heat up the soup a bit, include fresh bread with the meal, add on a true room extension or discount for eating in a tent, throw in some more parking, maintain your friendly staff and fine flavors...and I may come back. Anniversary dinner @tinkerstreetindy tonight! I've been wanting to go here forever and we finally made it happen! Started with the cauliflower steak- curry with saffron rice with potatoes and a pomegranate molasses along with the brightness of cilantro and mint. This is listed as a large plate, but we chose it as our starter. Hubs had the pork belly and by how quickly it disappeared, he definitely enjoyed it! I was torn on what to choose, but ended up with the shrimp étouffée and so glad I did! The sauce was divine and the apple chutney added a surprisingly wonderful addition. Dessert? Of course! Banana pudding for the hubs and I had the apple cider whoopie pie. This thing was giant! I tasted the banana pudding and it was good. This visit was long over due! Crazy to say my first visit was in 2026, but better late than never. First things first, the service here is amazing!! And ambience? 10/10. Once you're seated, your server greets you with a mini pour of prosecco. How fun? I love that. We opted for the chicken skewers to begin with which was the perfect start. The chicken was super flavorful and definitely a crowd favorite. For my entree I ordered the pork belly which came served on top of mashed sweet potatoes and collard greens. Saw many reviews and had to try it out for ourselves. Staff was friendly and attentive. Loved the tinker toast, very cute and fun way to start the evening/ dinner. We heard that the Korean fried mushrooms were a must so we ordered that and the miso glazed oysters for appetizers. The mushrooms were delicious and so was the gochujang honey. We split the miso oyster and mussels/ chorizo pasta... both were just ok. Lastly, the ricotta donuts for dessert... easily our favorite thing of the night. Cute little restaurant in the Herron Morton neighborhood off of 16th Street just north of downtown Indy. An older shack turned into a restaurant which has a very nice ambiance. The wait staff was outstanding. The presentation of the food was excellent and they have an extensive wine and drink menu. The food menu is rotated seasonally. What a terrific, tiny gem of a restaurant! A little shack that's been upscaled into fantastic, adults-only fine dining -- I learned that it's 21+because they start every meal with complimentary bubbly. I was charmed. The service was absolutely top-notch -- our water glasses were never empty, and our servers were happy to discuss the menu at length, answering all of our questions. Our servers were friendly and sociable, making the meal even cozier. They had a huge wine list -- alas, I can no longer drink wine; they had a small but elegant specialty cocktail list, and, to my delight, they had a list of delicious non-alcoholic "mocktails" (which one could choose to add spirits to, if desired). I had the "Primrose", with guava juice, lime, sparkling water and rose water -- it was superb! Refreshing, light, slightly tart... exactly what I wanted. They feature a different soup every night -- always vegan. (I'm trying to switch to a plant-based diet.) The soup was a punch in the tastebuds: jerk-spiced apple and pear bisque. It tasted roasty, spicy (but not too spicy), sweet and tart... like the end of winter, and the beginning of spring. I'm now going to spend countless hours in my kitchen trying to recreate it. My entree was a curried cauliflower steak, with tiny potatoes, delicious crispy pickled chickpeas, and a delicate saffron rice that I could *really* taste the saffron in. Nutty, richly savory, and deeply satisfying, I did not envy His Goatness's pork belly, nor my dad-in-law's shrimp etouffee. I did have a bite of His Goatness's peanut parfait, which, while vegan, tasted like a Reese peanut butter cup (but perfectly sweetened, instead of over-sweet). The merengue on the top was delicately toasted with a torch. I also had some of dad's sorbet, which was amazing -- like fresh fruit! We went in on Valentine's Day for an early dinner around 5:30. I've only been once before years ago, so was looking forward to trying then again. We were greeted promptly and immediately seated, and served a complimentary glass of champagne which we loved! We were given both the standard menu and the Valentine's special. It was a bit disappointing that they didn't make a vegetarian/vegan special option. We started with the brussels sprouts (unpictured because I was too busy eating to take one lol) and they were delicious and crispy. They were a bit dry, though, and could use a bit more of the lemon thyme vinaigrette. It felt odd that they were served with bread without really having much sauce to dip it in? The bread was still yummy, though. I ordered the curried cauliflower steak which was disappointing. The flavors sound like they should work together but it was too aromatic-forward and didn't balance well. There was too much saffron in the rice and too much ginger and/or lemongrass in the curry. As someone who typically loves yellow curry, this missed the mark. My partner ordered the lobster ravioli special. Very cute because the pasta was heart-shaped and was pink. He thought it was delicious but the portion was very small. Loved the cute little peruvian peppers garnish! I ordered the peanut parfait to go.... and the waitress kept badgering my partner that it wasn't Valentine's unless he got a dessert, so he obliged and ordered one, too. We didn't enjoy it at all, and I usually love any peanut butter dessert. A very mediocre experience but we're interested enough in the rest of the menu to come back. read more

We were fortunate to grab a parking sport in the little lot; otherwise, I think you can park in the street (New Jersey, not 16th). We had a "main" server, but it seems that perhaps the staff tag teams different duties, because things like order taking, clearing plates, bringing food was flawless. My husband was offered a new cloth napkin before he had even realized he dropped his on the floor. We chatted with staff about their favorite items and ordered some accordingly. We were greeted at our table with their amuse bouche, which is actually a shot of prosecco. For app, we had the Korean fried mushrooms, which were amazing. I ordered the scallops and asked them to pair a wine for me - that was a Bordeaux blanc (excellent pairing). Hubs had their "ginger snap" - akin to an old fashioned, but even better. Great service and friendly staff. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the steak was ordered medium but came out rare. The steak comes cut into large pieces stacked on a rustic potato cake. So the kitchen could certainly tell how it was cooked but still served it rare. I did not send it back so that is my fault. I thought I'd manage but as I got into it, some of the pieces grossed me out a little bit. This dish is spicy, as warned by the server. I did like the spice and flavor. The Korean mushrooms were interesting. I didn't care for the texture but it was very flavorful and the kimchi it was sitting on was delicious. Overall, everyone at the table had a good experience and enjoyed their meals. I will try something else next time. Kale salad understated and also hit the spot, 5/5. Halibut had a foodies dream dainty salted crust and perfect cook with balanced green earth vegetable sauce, 5/5. Shrimp was a spicy tikka masala, everything worked together although slightly heavy and overcooked still gets 5/5. I would definitely recommend this place for an everyday type meal and also for a nice night out. They are a 21+ only restaurant and are only open for dinner I believe. They didn't have a specific dress code listed on their website that I could find however, on OpenTable, it stated smart casual. There is free onsite parking but it is limited. I did take a sip of the welcome toast bubbly they provided but I am a nondrinker, so I gave the rest to my husband. I appreciated they had vegan options for appetizer, entree and dessert. I had a celery soup. It was good even for me being a non celery lover. I also ate the carrots. They were so delicious. Even my husband who isn't usually a Baba Ganoush fan enjoyed them. My husband had a salad and chicken skewers for his starters. I had a non alcoholic spicy margarita. Definitely top 5 I've tried. Then I had a NA beer, tasted just like an IPA. I say that not only because of the atmosphere, but also because of the hospitality in the introduction immediately when they serve you a champagne in a shot glass. I have never ever had a bad meal here and we have been over 30x's. My recommendation is to sit at the bar and see what drinks they are making. The bartenders are simply the best. Our first time trying Tinker Street did not disappoint! We ordered the gyoza to start and although the serving was small - they tasted amazing. I ordered the wagyu coulotte - it had an incredible sauce with strawberry, basil & rhubarb. My husband ordered the sacchetoni en brodo. It was so rich in flavor and literally melted in our mouth! Highly recommend ordering some bread to use to dip in the remaining sauce. For dessert we got the ricotta doughnuts. They were good, but I think some of the other dessert options would have been better. The wine was 10/10 and the welcome champagne is such a sweet offering. Staff was incredible and provided great service and recommendations! This is definitely a louder environment for dinner, so it's not your typical quiet high-end dining restaurant. The first warm weather of the year brought out people in droves. We came for a later seating with friends around 8:30 pm and were able to get the only available table outside on the patio. We were out exploring restaurants we had not been recently and/or discover new places, always a little risky. We had been to a couple of places already so we split an entree added sides and a separate salad. We ordered bolognese, with a scallops on the side and Fall Salad. Elizabeth, or server was excellent, she explained everything on the menu made suggestions and had great timing even with a full house. The scallops may have been the best scallops I have ever had, they were decent size and perfectly cooked! The Fall salad was delicious and although I am not a fan of bolognese, my plus one ordered, it was quite good. Very up and down. We've always loved cozy and cute Tinker and have had some of our favorite meals ever there. This time we had a couple fantastic dishes: kimchi fried mushrooms, soup, endive salad. And we had a couple absolute clunkers: cauliflower steak (was really just a steamed hunk of cauliflower, no charring), fall salad (felt like just a pile of things), prickly pear tortellini (yikes, none of us thought this made any sense, it was just not good). I am all for adventurous eating and sometimes that means something doesn't quite hit and that's ok. But the dishes that have missed lately have missed so badly we wonder if someone had actually tasted it first. Which is frustrating given the price point. The highs can be so high Tinker can absolutely feel like the best restaurant in town so we keep coming back, I just wish the lows could get weeded out! read more

The price was very expensive for small portions. Wife got the carnitas ragu and it was super one note. Carnitas was alright but one bite got you the whole dish. 0 complexity. Would be much better as a chilliques dish. The crab pasta was honestly gross. It tasted like too much lemon on bell peppers. There was nothing else to it. Get here! Tinker Street is a quiet delight. Located just north of downtown Indy, it's perfectly positioned for a quiet night out. I love the indoor/outdoor seating options and the overall ambiance of the space. As we were seated, each diner was greeted with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine, and it really set the tone for the whole evening. Romantic, elegant, cozy, and absolutely delicious. You can taste the love and passion from the kitchen that goes into each dish. Great drink selection as well. I recommend the Sirloin dish and the Mushroom Stroganoff for entree. You can add protein to any entree for an additional cost and enhance your dish. The service is top notch and they have a wine expert that is willing to answer any questions you may have about their extensive wine selection. Champagne toast for the table before dinner is always a nice touch. We were in the area driving through and decided to give this place a try. Our waitress was on her 2nd day working here and she was phenomenal - I unfortunately can't remember her name. We ordered the Sea Bass and Pork Belly along with an Endive Salad. The sauces and seasoning are perfection. Beautiful presentation and lots of flavor. The pork belly was so so good along with veggies and mashed potatoes - A+++ - the sea bass was crusted perfectly and was cooked perfectly! The endive salad was a nice appetizer before the main course - lots of flavor and very tasty. We also had the banana pudding dessert and lemon cello. The price is definitely not cheap but if you want big American portions that taste OK go to Applebees. If you want a nice portion that is cooked to perfection with beautiful flavors then this is the place for you. It's also a fantastic romantic spot and they have an amazing wine list - we opted for a bottle of Malbec. Impeccable service, wonderful atmosphere and phenomenal food! read more

I won a gift card at the Savor Indianapolis event and have been waiting for the right time to use it. This dining experience was incredible - the flavors of the food in these dishes took me on an emotional journey because of how good it all was. The flavors in these dishes were spectacular. I sipped on my friend's Banana Old Fashioned with 8th Day bourbon because he was kind enough to share - normally not an old fashioned gal but WOW, I could've finished that whole cocktail. Then the tough decision for what to eat came about and I went with the scallops. Almost brought tears to my eyes with how good it was. The scallops were tender, the risotto was creamy and filling with a nice bit of spice to it. A perfectly balanced dish that I will be thinking about for a long while. The chef really created a masterpiece with that one. For dinner I got the Banana Pudding. I used to live in Georgia and that was a staple so I had to try it here. It was thicker and more rich than I've had it elsewhere and I loved every bite. I wanted to lick the dish but I somehow restrained myself. Our waitress was wonderful as well and I enjoyed meeting the manager who was very friendly. The only downside is how close all of the tables are however it did add a communal spirit to this place. This was such a cute spot that would be great for a small group or date. They do a cute sort of "welcome" for newbies and do a "tinker toast"(shot of champagne but some of our party opted for ginger beer instead). Their drink menu, that included mocktail options looked nice. I chose watermelon smash mocktail[+gin] and it was perfect. We shared the Korean fried mushrooms appetizer and I would've been content with that as my meal, but I was hungry so...entree was next. There was a variety of dishes but none really sounded appealing. but I did eventually decide on the Black Cod(not to be confused with BlackENED cod like I did) and was underwhelmed by the lack of flavor. It was atop a sort of tomato bisque that also had minimal flavor. We did get to try Ricotta donuts and espresso ice cream as well as the blueberry ice cream and the warm donuts were delicious. I have heard they change menus so I'll be checking in for updates but if all else fails, drinks, fried mushrooms, and donuts for the win. read more
