Bocca has quickly become one of my favorite Italian spots in town. Every time I've gone, I've been lucky enough to get seated right away, but honestly, don't risk it. This place is popular for a reason, so do yourself a favor and make a reservation. First of all, $1 oysters on Mondays? Say less. Such a great deal, and they're always fresh and delicious. It's the perfect excuse to start the week off right. Beyond that, the menu is full of solid Italian classics done really well. The ambiance is warm and inviting, dim lighting, cozy but still lively, and perfect whether you're on a date or catching up with friends. The service has consistently been fantastic. Attentive without hovering, friendly without being over the top. One quick note for anyone gluten-free: when you see "GF" next to an item, it doesn't automatically mean it's gluten-free as listed. It means it can be made gluten-free. Definitely ask your server for clarification to be safe. Highly recommend - just book that reservation! :D read more

I was looking forward to a nice Italian meal especially with all the glowing reviews for this Bocca. I'm glad that I made a reservation because this place gets busy. The service was friendly and was knowledgeable especially with their drinks. We came during happy hour and the options for a spritz were a lot for this newbie, but our waitress was kind and informative. We started with a half order of summer caprese, which was stock full of strawberries and watermelon. The nuts were old, and there wasn't much of a lemon vinaigrette and balsamic drizzle leaving the salad kind of tasteless. There were three kinds of oysters available and they were exactly as described. They tasted fresh and presented well. Unfortunately the mussels we ordered were the opposite of the oysters. It had an unpleasant odor, the mussels were rubbery, and there was not much flavor in the chili broth with butter and beer. It appears these were overcooked. As for the Bolognese, the fettuccine was cooked perfectly, however the sauce was lacking depth and attributes of a slow-cooked, simmered sauce made with wine, mirepoix, and some quality tomatoes. Almost every meal here is great. Service sometimes slow. Atmosphere and staff consistently appealing. It's usually hopping in here. Love the desserts. FYI, you can no longer park on 22nd since they altered the street pattern. I had not been since they changed it and there was no "no parking' sign. I pulled up where I"d always parked in front, and rather than the hostess poking her head out and saying anything, waited for me to come in to say you can't park there anymore. For appetizers we had the goat cheese and the calamari- both were phenomenal and would definitely get again. For entrees we tried the seafood ravioli and lasagna Bianca- both are a MUST try. Dessert included an espresso martini and the cheesecake. The martini was great, the cheesecake was mid. Great Italian spot. I loved the dessert most. That brown butter cake was amazing. A few seeds in the mixed berry compote but that didnt stop me from eating every bite. Im always in search of great calamari. The breading was well seasoned and crispy. Overall a little chewy but I ate it all. The breading was good too. I had to get the Mushroom Ragu with no cheese so it was a little lite on flavor. It was fine because I was full on bread and appetizers. The black interior and low lighting was a vibe. I've been here for a girls night and a date night and the vibes are great for both! If you recall the old Shoefly space, it's been split up into smaller areas with velvet curtains and a lounge vibe. I thought the pasta I tried here was good but not remarkable, but if you are a truffle lover, don't miss out on the truffle arancini! I finally made my way over for dinner and it was a great experience! We stumbled upon 1/2 priced bottles of wine on Wednesday - a pleasant surprise! The waitress was very friendly and helpful. She recommended the Della casa shrimp pasta and it was perfectly creamy, yet spicy and a generous portion. There was also a lot of shrimp mixed in! We also tried the short rib, which was really tender. The meat itself was very tasty, but I wish the dish as a whole had some sauce or a little more going on. Dined here tonight and had a great experience! We ordered 3 apps, all delish but the real standout was the lasagna. The manager knew we were deciding between the lasagna and the bolognese and she suggested the lasagna. After ordering she even brought us a small plate of the bolognese so we weren't disappointed. we went to bocca during devour 2026, including an appetizer, a salad, entree and dessert for $50! for my appetizer, i started off with arancini and i was not too impressed with these. they did not have much flavor and i was not a fan of the truffle cream, i would've preferred the classic marinara instead. (but definitely a nice experience to try something different) the caesar salad was good, had a hint of a lemon flavor in it! the tortellacci was AMAZING! very cheesy with the perfect amount of flavor, the chicken was a little too chewy for my liking but overall the dish was still incredible! we ended the night with the pistachio ricotta cake and tiramisu. the pistachio ricotta cake was so delicious, very light. on top of that, the service was great and the interior and ambiance was beautiful. the lights and decorations were so nice. read more

Our server easily handled the orders for our larger group and helped guide us in choices for entrees and starters. Our waiter hit the nail on the head with his recommendations & everything was a hit for our table from the mussels and calamari to all of our entrees! All 3 of these were 10/10 perfect. However there's an entree not pictured that actually turned out to be the best one of the 4 we ordered which was the Tortellacci!! We'll definitely be back to try more things. While visiting Indianapolis, my friends, Lynn and Mark, took me to their favorite restaurant a few blocks from their home, Bocca. This is the second time I've been here and both times were exceptional. This time, we sat outside in their spacious patio setting. Our server, David, was polite, friendly and attentive. We started off with two appetizers, calamari and mussels. The calamari had an excellent lemon aioli dressing (very tasty!) and a marinara dressing on the side to complement the perfectly cooked calamari. The mussels were outstanding, served with a chili broth that was mouthwatering. My friends said dipping the bread in the sauce was almost an appetizer in itself. David, our server, concurred and brought us extra bread (twice!) so we could sop up the richness of the broth. I would come back just for this broth! For our main entrees, my friends selected the Spaghetti Pomodoro (and added meatballs) and the Pollo Di Zio, a chicken breast stuffed with salami, prosciutto, spinach and mozzarella. I ordered the wild mushroom-stuffed Ravioli, which included ricotta, spinach and truffle cream, with braised button mushrooms on top. The presentation was a sight to behold and the taste, perfection! We all had a great night here and I can see why it is my friends' favorite place. And, now mine, too. I look forward to my next visit to Indianapolis, with this restaurant gem being at the top of my list! read more

Went to Bocca with a friend who had just moved downtown. Just a 6-min drive up from downtown--easy! Passed the outdoor space on the way from the parking lot-- I can see that being nice in the summer albeit it's right off the road. The interior was cozy/intimate, the server attentive. The food was good-- got the Della Casa. It didn't wow me, but perhaps I should try something different next time. It is what it says it is, a cozy neighborhood Italian restaurant. Really enjoyed our time at Bocca. The atmosphere was the perfect mood for a date on a Friday night - with dark walls and dim lights. We started with the goat cheese app - which was full of flavor and rich. I had the bolognese, which was very hearty. From making a reservation to paying the check, the experience with Bocca was pleasing. Online reservations can be made on Resy for parties up to 5. Because I had a larger party, I called two days ahead for reservation and the hostess helped me with it. They have a parking lot behind the restaurant but it was unfortunately full so we had to find a street parking spot - not too difficult even on a Saturday evening. Their patio looked great and lively. Upon check-in, we were greeted with a smiling hostess who showed us our table. She gladly brought a high chair for the toddler, and offered the kids menu. The water service and the appetizers, bruschetta and flatbread, came out very quickly. Our server, Ellie, was very warm and attentive. She kept checking in on us without being disturbing. The pastas took a little bit of time but considering how busy it was on a Saturday evening at 7:30pm, we kind of expected it. The salmon entrée was pretty flavorful, the wild mushroom risotto was a great vegetarian option, and the Della casa was amazing too. Each dish on our table was flavored well and had its unique flavor. It was my first time at Bocca and I was super impressed. I am so disappointed. I love the food at Bocca and it is one of my favorite Italian spots in Indy but tonight the service was so bad it can't be overlooked. Not once were we asked if we would like a second round of drinks after finishing our first round before the entrees. We asked for a dessert menu and after 20 minutes of waiting for our server, Maritza to come back and take our order we gave up. We had to track her down for everything we needed. In two weeks I've now been here 3 times and sat at the bar. The food is excellent. The service is immaculate. The noise is low and lights are relaxed. Over my visits I've gotten the Basil gimlet with gin, old fashioned, and a generous 6-oz. pour of Canernet. For appetizers, I've gotten the calamari each time. It's incredible. We've also gotten the goat cheese and farro salad. Highly recommend both, texture and flavors are very balanced and special. For entree, the pasta pomodoro is spicy and full bodied. Great Italian spot in the Herron Morton area. There's a nice speakeasy in the basement. The main dining area is intimate- a great date spot or if you're out for a nicer evening.
