We finally ventured down to Bocca after what felt like years of talking about it. We chose the perfect time too, which was Devour Indy's Summerfest. My husband was able to easily make a reservation online and when we arrived, we tried to find a spot in the small lot behind the restaurant, but we had to find street parking nearby. We did arrive a little early, about 15 minutes. Thankfully they were able to seat us right away, and we were excited to see that we could make their happy hour (5-6) if we ordered soon! Unfortunately, there may have been some miscommunication about sections, and we weren't acknowledged until right at 6pm. A whole 15 minutes of multiple staff walking around us and not even a glass of water. I honestly just assumed it had something to do with our 6pm reservation. Either way, our very kind waitress did offer us last minute happy hour drinks, so i guess if all worked out! I do think she felt badly about our wait. She was so nice that she gave us prosecco for a toast before our meal, and offered free tiramisu. So, major props on the hospitality! Our food was really delicious. My husband did the devour, which included the Truffle Arancini, Bocca Cesare, Tortellacci, and Lemon Sorbet for dessert. I enjoyed the Cavatappi and tiramisu. Everything was fresh and delicious. Based on reviews I read on yelp I recommended Bocca for our party. We dined around 9 (got into Indy late) and was disappointed with the food. We got the Della Casa pasta, prosciutto flatbread and mussels. The mussels were ok, typical and they were fine. The flatbread was disappointing. Thought the prosciutto was a little light and there wasn't much flavor to the dish. The pasta was split between two people in our group. They said the taste was good, but the portion for $29 was definitely skimpy. Wine pricing was reasonable for a restaurant. The service was good and attentive. read more

Best happy hour deal (and aesthetic)! Went to dinner with some friends and got a steal on the Aperol Spritz Tower for Happy Hour (5-6PM). For an Italian restaurant I was happily surprised with the Gluten Free options. I was able to get the Primavera as a GF dish! It was so light and filling. The desserts were also wonderful. The sorbet was a wonderful treat on a hot summer day. And the pistachio cake was so light and fluffy. Service was prompt and attentive. read more

Yes, yes, and yes. This place was the perfect place to bring my friend for her birthday celebration! She ordered the scallops and I had the pasta carbonara. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and took some home. She was too full for dessert, but our server, Taylor, sent her home with a tiramisu which made me so happy that they treated her to a dessert! Nikki, the general manager, was top notch too! I've been wanting to try Bocca in Indianapolis for the longest time, and it ended up being one of the best birthday girls' dinners I've ever had! From the moment we arrived, everything was seamless. We were seated right away with our reservation, and our server, Taylor, made the experience even better. She was engaging, personable, and attentive without ever feeling overbearing--the perfect balance of great service. The menu had so many incredible options that it was hard to choose. A few of us shared bottles of wine, and I went with the Sauvignon Blanc, which paired perfectly with dinner. We also ordered the calamari to start, and it was everything you hope for--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. (Sadly, I forgot to snap a photo before we devoured it!) For my entrée, I ordered the cavatappi with pesto and crispy chicken, and it was absolutely phenomenal. I cleaned my plate without hesitation. Every single one of the six of us ordered something different, and every person agreed it was some of the best food we've had in Indianapolis. Needless to say, we'll all be back for future date nights and celebrations. Another bonus? Bocca has a fantastic happy hour, and if you're lucky enough to grab a spot downstairs at Verité Cocktail Lounge, you can keep the evening going with even more happy hour specials. From the delicious food to the welcoming atmosphere and outstanding service, the entire experience exceeded my expectations. It's officially one of my favorite foodie finds in Indianapolis. This is a hidden gem! What used to be a different restaurant has turned into Ana amazing Italian find! Had not even been by here in a few years and was delighted to see it had changed into an Italian restaurant. The drinks were awesome, including everyone getting happy hour aperol spritz!! I was looking forward to a nice Italian meal especially with all the glowing reviews for this Bocca. I'm glad that I made a reservation because this place gets busy. The service was friendly and was knowledgeable especially with their drinks. We came during happy hour and the options for a spritz were a lot for this newbie, but our waitress was kind and informative. We started with a half order of summer caprese, which was stock full of strawberries and watermelon. The nuts were old, and there wasn't much of a lemon vinaigrette and balsamic drizzle leaving the salad kind of tasteless. There were three kinds of oysters available and they were exactly as described. They tasted fresh and presented well. Unfortunately the mussels we ordered were the opposite of the oysters. It had an unpleasant odor, the mussels were rubbery, and there was not much flavor in the chili broth with butter and beer. It appears these were overcooked. As for the Bolognese, the fettuccine was cooked perfectly, however the sauce was lacking depth and attributes of a slow-cooked, simmered sauce made with wine, mirepoix, and some quality tomatoes. What a vibe! I was super underdressed and not expecting this place to be as elegant as it was but I still received great food and good service. They offer outside and indoor seating, have a bar and even a speakeasy downstairs on weekends! The food was immaculate, some of the best lasagna I've ever had. The Caesar salad had a really strong lemon flavor and even though it was a first for me I actually really loved it, the lettuce was fresh and had a really good taste. The arancini was a bit different and wasn't really for me but glad I tried it nonetheless. And the bread! THE BREAD?! Oh my gosh... I have no words for how good this place is. BEST PASTA IN INDY! Me and my friends shared the baked goat cheese appetizer which was divine (i don't even really like goat cheese and it was so good). The bread was also insanely soft! We asked for more bread and they gave it free of charge. I ordered the Della Casa and it was the best plate of pasta I've ever eaten. The flavors melted together in a creamy tomato sauce with the perfect amount of spice. It was genuinely the best sauce for a seafood pasta and the shrimp and noodles were both cooked properly and to perfection. Nothing was overcooked. Every bite was like heaven. I tried my friend's pastas as well and the Tortellacci was suprisingly so tasty. The amount of lemon they add in the sauce pairs so nicely with the cheeses they used. I say "surprisingly so tasty" because to the naked eye it doesn't look that special but when you take a bite your eyes get big because it's so good lol. The chicken was also insanely tender!!! I do wish the service was a little better. I feel like our waiter forgot about us and we barely got checked on during our time there, but the food made up for it. Our foodie group came to Bocca for dinner for Devour Indy and it was quite the experience. We were able to get patio seating which made it more comfortable and relaxing. The Devour Indy menu was a four course meal for $50/person, and it was well worth the price for what we received. The first course was a watermelon bruschetta which was a great starter and very refreshing. The second course was a chopped salad which was very fresh and tasted amazing. The third course was salmon with pesto risotto. The most incredible salmon and pesto risotto I have put in my mouth. It melted in my mouth and the flavors were just perfect. It was cooked to perfection. The fourth and last course was the pistachio ricotta cake. This was an fabulous dessert that also perfect and had an incredible flavor combination of pistachio and ricotta cheese. It was one of the best desserts I have had in a while. Our server was absolutely amazing and took very good care of us. Her service was immaculate to the core and did not miss a beat. She was fantastic and a true professional. She represented the restaurant very well. This Devour Indy dinner was first class all the way, and Bocca is a marvelous restaurant in downtown Indy. I highly recommend everyone come here for Italian or Devour Indy while it is taking place because you will be blown away by the food and amazing customer service. The ambiance is also heart warming and laid back as well. The mural on the side of the restaurant is beautiful and represents the style and luxury of the restaurant very well. Bocca has quickly become one of my favorite Italian spots in town. Every time I've gone, I've been lucky enough to get seated right away, but honestly, don't risk it. This place is popular for a reason, so do yourself a favor and make a reservation. First of all, $1 oysters on Mondays? Say less. Such a great deal, and they're always fresh and delicious. It's the perfect excuse to start the week off right. Beyond that, the menu is full of solid Italian classics done really well. The ambiance is warm and inviting, dim lighting, cozy but still lively, and perfect whether you're on a date or catching up with friends. The service has consistently been fantastic. Attentive without hovering, friendly without being over the top. One quick note for anyone gluten-free: when you see "GF" next to an item, it doesn't automatically mean it's gluten-free as listed. It means it can be made gluten-free. Definitely ask your server for clarification to be safe. Highly recommend - just book that reservation! :D read more

We decided to go for date night to try the summer Devour menu. It was very hot outside but the restaurant was bustling with staff and people. We just walked in and we were promptly greeted and were told no tables on the first level were available. They did have tables available outdoors and in the "speak easy". This peaked my interest and we opted for seating in the basement. It was dark, nice and cool. The decor was very comfortable and a lot less people; perfect for date night! The service was very fast and the bar tender was extremely hospitable. I had a shot of fine aged bourbon from their happy hour list and the Devour menu: salad (Bocca Cesare) Aracini-crispy risotto in Truffle sauce, and Della Casa-calamarata w/ shrimp. The pasta was perfect! The sauce splendid. The Truffle sauce was a little bland. Everything was great except there was two things missing from an upscale Italian spot-fresh grated parm and bread. For appetizers we had the goat cheese and the calamari- both were phenomenal and would definitely get again. For entrees we tried the seafood ravioli and lasagna Bianca- both are a MUST try. I finally made my way over for dinner and it was a great experience! We stumbled upon 1/2 priced bottles of wine on Wednesday - a pleasant surprise! The waitress was very friendly and helpful. She recommended the Della casa shrimp pasta and it was perfectly creamy, yet spicy and a generous portion. There was also a lot of shrimp mixed in! We also tried the short rib, which was really tender. The meat itself was very tasty, but I wish the dish as a whole had some sauce or a little more going on. I've been here for a girls night and a date night and the vibes are great for both! If you recall the old Shoefly space, it's been split up into smaller areas with velvet curtains and a lounge vibe. Almost every meal here is great. Service sometimes slow. Atmosphere and staff consistently appealing. It's usually hopping in here. Love the desserts. FYI, you can no longer park on 22nd since they altered the street pattern. I had not been since they changed it and there was no "no parking' sign. I pulled up where I"d always parked in front, and rather than the hostess poking her head out and saying anything, waited for me to come in to say you can't park there anymore. we went to bocca during devour 2026, including an appetizer, a salad, entree and dessert for $50! for my appetizer, i started off with arancini and i was not too impressed with these. they did not have much flavor and i was not a fan of the truffle cream, i would've preferred the classic marinara instead. (but definitely a nice experience to try something different) the caesar salad was good, had a hint of a lemon flavor in it! the tortellacci was AMAZING! very cheesy with the perfect amount of flavor, the chicken was a little too chewy for my liking but overall the dish was still incredible! we ended the night with the pistachio ricotta cake and tiramisu. the pistachio ricotta cake was so delicious, very light. on top of that, the service was great and the interior and ambiance was beautiful. the lights and decorations were so nice. read more

I had never heard of Bocca, but found on yelp and we decided to go. What a great experience! My wife had Saltimbocca and I had Carbonara. Both were wonderful! I also loved the atmosphere. Not sure how to describe - I would say like a speakeasy, but I have never been to a speakeasy. Ironically the basement is a speakeasy, but we didn't go downstairs. Not cheap but not outrageous. Our waiter hit the nail on the head with his recommendations & everything was a hit for our table from the mussels and calamari to all of our entrees! All 3 of these were 10/10 perfect. However there's an entree not pictured that actually turned out to be the best one of the 4 we ordered which was the Tortellacci!! We'll definitely be back to try more things. We came in with a reservation for a group of 8 and were sat timely upon entering. The ambiance is cozy and warm. Our server easily handled the orders for our larger group and helped guide us in choices for entrees and starters. While visiting Indianapolis, my friends, Lynn and Mark, took me to their favorite restaurant a few blocks from their home, Bocca. This is the second time I've been here and both times were exceptional. This time, we sat outside in their spacious patio setting. Our server, David, was polite, friendly and attentive. We started off with two appetizers, calamari and mussels. The calamari had an excellent lemon aioli dressing (very tasty!) and a marinara dressing on the side to complement the perfectly cooked calamari. The mussels were outstanding, served with a chili broth that was mouthwatering. My friends said dipping the bread in the sauce was almost an appetizer in itself. David, our server, concurred and brought us extra bread (twice!) so we could sop up the richness of the broth. I would come back just for this broth! For our main entrees, my friends selected the Spaghetti Pomodoro (and added meatballs) and the Pollo Di Zio, a chicken breast stuffed with salami, prosciutto, spinach and mozzarella. I ordered the wild mushroom-stuffed Ravioli, which included ricotta, spinach and truffle cream, with braised button mushrooms on top. The presentation was a sight to behold and the taste, perfection! We all had a great night here and I can see why it is my friends' favorite place. And, now mine, too. Went to Bocca with a friend who had just moved downtown. Just a 6-min drive up from downtown--easy! Passed the outdoor space on the way from the parking lot-- I can see that being nice in the summer albeit it's right off the road. The interior was cozy/intimate, the server attentive. The food was good-- got the Della Casa. It didn't wow me, but perhaps I should try something different next time. It is what it says it is, a cozy neighborhood Italian restaurant. Food: Amazing! Mussels and the broth were so savory! It's best to dip your bread in it. They were a little small but maybe they aren't in season. That baked goat cheese is my favorite! Soo flavorful. Lastly, that pasta was magic! Fine spice. Good size shrimp. Creamy and savory tomato sauce. Service: So good! Only book here if you have at least 2 hours.
