We got to go out!! Yay!! We were looking for a place to meet up with friends for cocktails and my husband found this place ! And it absolutely did not disappoint! When we arrived at the door, we were welcomed by a huge vault door that needed a code to access. Which was cute! Inside was 30s inspired decor. Tasteful and not overdone. Staff was super friendly and attentive. When looking at the menu, we were surprised how inexpensive the items were. We ordered cocktails--I had the French 75 ( which was sublime!) and hubs had the Old Fashioned. His only complaint--it was a little too sweet, but the bartender was quick to accommodate. So our friends arrived and she ordered the white chocolate martini--she allowed me to taste it and it was fantastic. Personally, I'm not one for sweet, sweet cocktails--but I would have made an exception in that instance. We ordered some appetizers, we had truffle fries and our friends ordered the olives. I had dreams about the olives! So warm and delicious--truly unforgettable! Did I say the olives were delicious? My word! Don't skip the olives!!!! We will be back!

The Vault is such a fun speakeasy experience! You find the secret code to get in through their IG page, which adds to the adventure. Once inside, it's cozy and inviting. We sat at the bar and had an awesome experience, the bartender was fantastic! I asked for something "sweet and fruity," and he absolutely delivered. The drinks were probably some of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend if you're looking for a unique spot with great vibes and even better cocktails!

The Vault is Indy's South-side secret bar, a speakeasy prohibition-style with beautiful brick details, a vault door entrance, and a lovely little patio with twinkle lights. I got to recently check out on of their cocktail classes, just one of the fun events they do throughout the year. The Cocktail class was so much fun, and the instructor was attentive and took the time to provide extra help where needed. We learned how to make several cocktails, had snacks, and a lot of laughs.

If you like cocktails and great snacks this is the place for you. Good music playing in the background and the bartender, who's also the owner was slinging drinks and the guy has a gift. This is a must visit.

Best ice plus great Old Fashion!

Updated review: Came here 11 months later. Disappointed at the changes. It was a great speakeasy before comfy couches laid back and you had to figure out the code. Now it's a restaurant, not a speakeasy. Now the food is good and the drinks are good as well. Just disappointed in the new look and the direction it has taken away from a speakeasy vibe.

The vault definitely is a chill and welcoming place to drink at. Once you solve the question of the code on the door, you walk in to a Very prohibition decor, reminds me of the speakeasy at goodfellas. They do have small bite foods, including a broccoli cheddar soup that smelled good coming out for a customer. I'm always taken care of by 1 of the bartenders, Maya. She's a super chill and friendly qt. She made me 1 cocktail off the bartender specialty cocktails and ofc my fave expresso martini. There's a shot that has become a lil traditional for us all to take with liquor 43 and cream that I def recommend. Overall, I can see myself making this a regular place to drink without a large crowd if I don't want to get overstimulated (iykyk)

The Vault!! What a fun concept? Speakeasy in Indianapolis with a super cool 1920s lounge style vibe and fun creative drinks. Soup and grilled cheese options are tasty too. A couple of co-workers and I dressed up in 1920s flapper fashion and visited the Vault. It was so fun, everyone loved our idea of matching the era and gave wonderful compliments. There is even a trap door that is said to lead to John Dillinger's hide out. While you can't go down the steps, it was pretty cool to see. Beware, it is a speakeasy so you better put your thinking cap on to come up with the secret code!

Have been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally made it with 5 of my closest friends! Came on a Thursday night around 7pm. They post a code on their IG page so you can enter. It was fun within my group gathering everyones guesses before we arrived. Sadly someone let us in so we didn't get to enter the code in but there is a big vault where you can put it in should that not happen for you. Upon entry, it was super chill. They were setting up for a Sofar event (if you don't know what that is, do some homework on that), so they had a section of the place closed off for the set-up. The bartenders were very nice and engaging and offering drink options which was helpful because I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted. They actually created something for me based on what I like. There was plenty of seating, so no worries there on this particular day but I can imagine it could get crowded on the weekend. I'm a fan.

Our first time in Indy! We were looking for a place to kick off our night and my husband found this joint on Google! Upon arrival we found ourselves at a vault door with a legitimate keypad for entry. After several failed codes we found our answer with the end of prohibition! We loved our experience here. The owner, Gabby, and one of her bartenders, Maya, were wonderful. The cocktails were fantastic. I specifically loved the peach basil gin smash. My husband loved his which was This Was Ube. They gave us great recommendations where to go for the rest of the night. Good vibes, good music, and good people. Would recommend!

The Vault had been a destination for me. The vibe, cocktails, and service was always on point. However, my last visit to The Vault left me very disappointed. We went on Black Friday. There was a new code to get in, which was fun to find. However, upon entering the vibes were off. It was BRIGHTLY lit. I almost thought they were closing and cleaning by how bright it was inside. Also, the bartender was wearing a Chargers jersey. Further, they were playing country music, not via TouchTunes but via the regular bar music. As a "Speakeasy with History," everything was off. We had invited some friends to join us who had never been before and we were glad they canceled, as we had talked up this place a lot and it fell way short of our expectations. The vibe of a speakeasy is a lot. You expect certain things. I felt like I was at a Buffalo Wild Wings. I'll give it another shot, but if it's a similar experience, I cannot recommend this place anymore.

Shhh... it's a secret, but I have to share! I visited a hidden gem in Indianapolis--a speakeasy with an unforgettable vibe. This beauty right here is The Volt, a perfectly crafted drink that tastes just as electrifying as it looks. The atmosphere is chic, intimate, and so exclusive you'll need a code to get in. Highly recommend tracking down this spot if you're up for the adventure. But remember, keep it hush-hush--you didn't hear it from me! Our server was attentive and informative as well!

Don't remember the name but I had 3 of them $14/each (show the bar tender they will know what to make you if you want to try it lol)

Parking/location: this wonderful little speakeasy is located south of downtown (fountain square area) in a neighborhood. Parking is all street parallel spots and depending on the day or night you go you may have to do a bit of walking. Upoentry, you are prompted to enter a date to see if you are granted access into The Vault (hint: John Dillinger death year) I spoke with the owner about his vision for this speakeasy & it was amazing how well acquainted he is with the neighborhood surrounding. (I'm terrible with names, omg I can't remember his or the bar tenders) but listen to me!!!! The drinks were amazing and the service was as well. I love how the noise level is balanced even though it is a smaller space. I've been twice now and I can't wait to get dressed up and return. I instantly feel like a sexy spy when I walk in oh you don't have to get all dressed up to go, it's just my preference when going to classy speakeasy's - but you will see plenty others in attendance with jeans. P.s. do not go on an empty stomach as the menu for food is very limited OR go for your pregame prior to dinner reservations in the downtown or fountain square area. Enjoy!

Service was well above expectations and the drinks, delicious! Hubs got the espresso martini and I had this beauty. Decor & ambiance on point. We'll be back to try more.

When train travel went by the wayside, Grand Hall was left abandoned and dilapidated until it was transformed into a shopping mall + food court in the 1980s.
