Each year I host a Mother's Day lunch and this year's location was Astrea. I like to be detailed so this may be a bit long but stick with me. Keagan Fife (Manager) - A team player, receptive to feedback and conscientious. We had a issue while there and he was able to step in and problem solve with me and come up with a solution that really won us over. We had a moment where it was feeling a bit "why did we come here" but his customer service exceeded expectation. That's good management. (He's the gentleman in the video below.) Let's get the negative out the way 1st. The first waitress asked if we wanted anything to drink. I told her we hadn't received menus. She came back sat them down and walked away. We never saw her again. A new waitress came and she seemed pleasant enough. Once we were all seated she began to take our orders. She made a point to say she needed to write it all down or she was get it mixed up. She then did not write anything down. Our food came out extremely slow but that wasn't a huge deal because we all were mingling. A lot of her team had to step in and deliver our food, give drinks, check on us etc. She was pretty non existent. Two of the ladies never received food. This was after we had been there for 2 hours and everyone else had received their items. At the end when we asked for our check they were all mixed up and confused. The waitress then blamed us for adding things and moving around. We never moved once and she only came around the one time when she originally took our orders. We never got a chance to add things. (it was quite comical that she tried to say that) I ended up asking for manager because she seemed overwhelmed and a bit bias about our group. Assuming that we wouldn't want one check and splitting them because she figured we would want it that way and then blaming us because she did it when we never asked for split. There rule is parties over 8 have to have 1 bill and we never asked for an exception. There was just her assumption that a group of black women wouldn't want to do that. (I digress) There were a few more things but I will end it there. That was the big negative. Now the positive!!! Ambiance 10/10 - great views, great music, great location, umbrellas on roof were great although a but wobbly and scary. Also, they come around with complimentary sunglasses while dining. I thought this was a nice and luxurious touch! Food 8/10 - most food received was delicious Service 9/10 - everyone except for our server was great! Everyone who pitched in to help was awesome! Ended up tipping a different server who basically helped us the whole time. Bless his heart because I know he was super busy. As stated above management handle the situation well. I would definitely go back! I try to give people a chance. I think our server may have been overwhelmed and had a past experience that left her bias against our group but hopefully she can grow and get better. Seriously not worth it. Came in and immediately was met with attitude and dismay from the hostess. It was a problem that we had even walked through the door. After asking if we could sit by a window (to enjoy the view because that's literally the ONLY reason you go to a rooftop bar..?) they sat my husband and I behind a wall at a four person chair set instead of the four other two person tables that were open by the window the entire time we were there. Not to even mention the incredibly loud offensive music, everything is overpriced and not even original. Seriously not even worth trying. I loved the view from the rooftop. It's a very cool place to hang out with a drink, and the drinks were fantastic. It was a little weird that the menu mentions their "seasonal" cocktails, which included a "Sugar Plum Spritz" and another with pumpkin spice (in May). The chicken buns were delicious -- perfectly crispy with great flavor. The deviled eggs were a bit bland. After hearing about the supposedly amazing truffle fries, I've got to say, I was a little disappointed. They were fine, and I might even order them again, but I've definitely had better. The truffle flavor was there, but not as intense as I was hoping for. I also prefer the thinner, super crispy type of fries. But service was very good, and I enjoyed the overall experience a lot. I recently stayed at the Intercontinental and visited Astrea, their rooftop bar. It was the perfect place to grab a small bite, enjoy a creative cocktail, and unwind after a long day of traveling. I opted for a seat at the bar, and the bartender, Zeke, took great care of us. I order the Zen & the Art of Chai, which includes vanilla-infused vodka, chai tea, pumpkin spice, scotch based heather honey liqueur, oat milk, and grated nutmeg. Tidbit! Order the lobster queso. It arrives warm in its own little vessel, rich and pull-y, and it's roughly half lobster. Half. This was a delightful treat. We came to Astrea for the skyline, and somehow never really looked out. Maybe it was the NCAA tournament energy humming through the city, or maybe it was the plush, rounded seating for our group! It felt cozy and comfortable, just two tables pushed together. The space definitely has a glam register, but the staff was attentive and warm, letting our large group just hang. The wings were solid, the truffle fries did exactly what truffle fries are supposed to do, and the Caesar was a sizeable portion. This is such an awesome space! We came in mid October and the chill was already creeping in. However, the fire pits outside kept us warm with the help of our jackets. We came in the evening and the views of the city were nice, the low glow of the lights on the patio set the vibe. We got an old fashioned and dirty martinis and they were both made really well. I really wanted to love it. Made reservations for my group. When we arrived we were seated outside in the sweltering heat. We asked if we could get inside and were told NO, that was it. The star of the evening were the truffle fries. I have to admit they were spectacular. I see others write about the great view... I didn't find it all that great. Plus you really can't see a thing unless you stand up and go directly to the railings, otherwise you see only the rooftops of other buildings. Awesome rooftop! This place has been a hot commodity all summer, and I totally get why. The rooftop overlooks Monument Circle, offering great views if you peek over the edge. They seemed a little understaffed when I visited, but our service was still excellent. Definitely order the truffle fries! They also have weekly specials, so be sure to check those out. For my birthday hubby and I were taking a tour of rooftop lounges downtown and found Astrea. Located in the Intercontinental hotel, on the 11th floor. In my opinion, it was quiet for Saturday night., but I think the weather deterred everybody from going out. They had the outdoor patio closed because of that, but I'll definitely be going back to try it. Peyton, our server was nice and attentive. Although we were only there for beverages, he was on top of everything! Kitchen closes at 10, but I plan on going back and trying some of their shareable bites. I'm loving the vibe there. Astrea, my gosh you are THE vibe! My sister and I decided to visit for a girl's night out and everything from the food, the DJ, drinks and let's not get started on the view, just beautiful! We were a little late to our reservation (by 10minutes) and the hostess was not very friendly about it but our server was so sweet, that I forgot about the hostess' attitude. For food, I ordered the oysters Rockefeller and truffle fries both were 10/10. This rooftop bar is really big. I came downtown with family to check out pop up holiday bars. This wasn't a pop up bar, but it was uniquely decorated for Christmas. They had a special holiday drink menu and we all tried something different. The drinks were ok, the hot drink was sent back because it wasn't hot. My rosemary sprig was smoking a bit, but failed to impart infused smokiness. I was excited to check out Astrea while visiting Indy, but unfortunately, I left underwhelmed. The atmosphere is sleek, upscale, and modern. The highlight of the evening was definitely the cocktails. I ordered the Nunya Beeswax II (a bourbon-based drink) and my friend had the Circle City Sour (vodka-based). Both were beautifully crafted and delicious. Where the experience fell short was in service and food. Our server seemed distracted and rarely checked in, which left the evening feeling a bit neglected. The charcuterie plate was especially disappointing for the price. It was very small and underwhelming. Astrea advertises itself as "the highest rooftop bar in Indianapolis." While it may technically be one of the taller rooftops at 11 stories, the space felt small and the views were not particularly impressive, especially with taller or similar-height buildings nearby. The marketing sets expectations for sweeping skyline views, but the reality did not quite deliver. I share this so others go in with realistic expectations. Overall, Astrea works if you are looking for a well-made cocktail in a stylish setting, but the service, food value, and views need to catch up with the price point and branding. read more

Great new rooftop bar in downtown Indy. This is on the top floor of the newly renovated Intercontinental Hotel. I was a little surprised to see how dead it was in here but I suspect that might change when the weather is nicer. Service was good but there was a little confusion about paid water on the table. I ended up receiving the premium water after being given tap water, the premium water was provided right before leaving so it felt like a bill raiser which was kind of slimy. Not to worry I chugged the water that I had to pay for. Aside from the one knock I enjoyed this spot, hopefully the outdoor area will be open next time. read more

On our way to another event, we decided to stop at this new rooftop spot in downtown Indianapolis. We are glad we stopped. We were kindly greeted on the first floor and informed that Astrea would be on the 11th floor. Let me say, the elevators are nice and gold with marvelous marble floors. So far so good. As the doors opened to the 11th floor we were impressed. We were immediately greeted and asked a few questions. We decided to sit at the bar since we wouldn't be there too long. This is a cute little space that seems spacious at the same time. There was a small function going on but this didn't get in the way of us enjoying the atmosphere and taking it all in. Once seated at the bar, we were greeted by two amazing ladies that took care of us. I got the Nunya Bees Wax which is a slight play of an old-fashioned but of course sweeter and my friend asked for a cute and sweet drink and that's exactly what she got. All in all this was a great experience and we will be back whether the patio is open or closed:) Hannah and Liz provided great customer service and they were fun to talk to. Also, a special thanks to Russel. We stopped on the 2nd floor where the front desk and a small quiet bar is located. Russel provided great knowledge about the hotel and took us on a quick and small tour of the hotel. He was delightful. The outside area is seat yourself, but you had to have a reservation to get up to the rooftop in general. The staff was really kind and knowledgeable. I love rooftop bars so I'm always on the lookout for new ones. Came across this one through Yelp so had to check it out myself. This bar is inside of Intercontinental hotel on the 11th floor. For downtown Indy, you can find meter parking or pay to park at a lot. I think they have valet, we didn't do that this time so don't know about the price. The vibes inside were nice, good atmosphere. It was quite busy when we came, they have two party rooms inside that looked busy. Indoor seating is available along with the rooftop deck seating. We told the host we wanted to sit outside, and it took about 15 minutes to be seated. The view of our seats was amazing, the monument circle was right there and lit up, so pretty. That was the best thing about this, the view. They close at 1am and it was close to closing time so we just got a drink and chilled. The service was not the best, probably because they were really busy and it was close to closing. I didn't like my drink and my server never came back to ask. The fact that it's a rooftop bar with a great view is why I will return. read more

Indys newest highest rooftop bar!! This just opened this week. They are located on the 11th floor of the new intercontinental hotel in downtown just off the circle on the southwest side. There are friendly greeters at the door when you enter the hotel. Jackson greeted us and told us a bit about the bar. The hotel is beautiful and gold and there are mirrors. There is a greeter as soon as you get off the 11th floor. We didn't have reservations but it was mostly empty when we went. Was hoping it wasn't too busy since they just opened. We got there just before 6 to watch sunset. The drinks were good. There's minimal food. Mostly apps and shareables. We got the truffle fries which were perfect! The sauce was good and the fries were tasty and at the perfect temp/color. White linen is refreshing. Outside isn't open yet. They are still working on some safety features. The views are nice. Slight obstructed view of the circle. It is just one corner that you get that view so hope that no one is sitting there. The bar is beautiful. The lighting is great. Nice vibes. Would like to come back in the summer. Yesterday was sunny and high of 60 so it was great. The bathrooms are off to the side and are singles and handicap accessible so that's nice. Some of the best views of the city, by far. I was surprised the cocktail menu wasn't bigger and they had no sweeter drinks. Their Instagram promoted a mango drink that was not on the menu and there was no summer menu like they teased, so that was confusing. They ended up making me a mango mojito, which was delicious. When we got the bill there was an unexplained $2 upcharge for Bacardi that was not disclosed and Bacardi is not a premium. They have two charcuterie boards (one meat, one cheese) and my ground was surprised that you had to choose one or the other because normal charcuterie includes both.
